This Daily Mystic Update is about a rarely mentioned outcome of Mercury Retrograde: Relationship Weirdness.
The main reason for this deficit is simple: definitions of “weird” are varied and there is a vast array of scenarios that fall broadly under ‘relationship.’ And since the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January 2020, there has been the broader weirding in play with all of its well-documented fragmentation.
Still, Mercury is Retro till June 3 and Venus in Aries is moving to conjunct Eris + square Pluto AKA a relationship flashpoint.
So let’s do this as a list to avoid confusion:
(1) Mercury Retro can scramble the communication between people in any relationship – pair-bond or marital duo, close friends, ex-partners but they co-parent, business collaborators, siblings, parent-child, the hypothetical “maybe” mates of online dating, a crypto-crush….
(2) This need not be ‘bad’ – some synergies need to be scrambled. Think of the times when you and someone close have reconnected via a totally tangential absurd conversation. Or information slips that inadvertently deliver you the affirmation you’ve been waiting for.
(3) But yes, it can seem as if whatever the usual frequency that hums along between you and another, it’s offline at the moment. If it’s disconcerting, try to wait it out rather than defaulting to ‘fix-it’ mode. When it comes back online with Mercury Direct, it will be stronger.
(4) If you’re in a relationship where you probably should be trying to figure out an exit strategy, Mercury Retro can re-summon every single spat you’ve ever had and reformat them into an alarmingly compelling new dispute. Or weird glitches rekindle inflammatory issues.
(5) A more pleasurable version of the same syndrome is when a communications mishap or strange ‘coincidence’ wafts someone wonderful from the past back into your orb. They’re either there – in your in-box, on the street – or vividly in your mind’s eye/psyche. This can be magic but you won’t know how until after Mercury is Direct.
(6) It’s often a time – particularly when Mercury Retro coincides with an Eclipse Season – when someone discloses information or their take on something and it’s out-of-sync with who you think they are or what you think happened. It’s disconcerting but better to know, right?
