The Uranian Seven Year Zap Cycles

Filed in ASTROLOGY

To understand Uranus astrology, realize that the God of the Future operates in seven-year cycles. They are not so much a seven-year itch as a zap.

Tired and wired but super-inspired? It’s normal at the end of a Uranian era. Uranus cycles are seven years long, but they’re not an itch – they’re a zap. Regardless of your natal chart and the houses, Uranus through the signs still packs some major pow.  When the God of the Future is at the end of one sign/constellation, it’s exhausting.

It becomes crazy-obvious that old spells don’t work and that you’re going to need new mojo. Innovation comes in wild spurts, and because everything is in hyper-flux, you’re unlikely to feel any form of calm certainty that you’re on the right track. It can help to think of the past Uranian eras.

Uranus Astrology Timelines

Uranus into Capricorn – December 1988
Uranus into Aquarius – January 1996
Uranus into Pisces – December 2003
Uranus into Aries – March 2011
Uranus into Taurus – March 2019

Think about what you began in those times and how the eras played out for you.

For simplicity, I am leaving out the little prequel that occurs with each entrance of Uranus into a new sign. It moves in and then out again, a la last May to November. The months above were when Uranus established in the signs. They’re distinct eras; with their back-drop, themes, soundtrack, and characters.

This week, as Uranus verges on settling into Taurus for seven years, the energy from the dying Uranus era is still there, but it’s barely potent.  You can try to deploy it in love, art or commerce but it backfires or goes off with a piffling impact.

Uranus astrology is not so much glimpsed in the every day as it is apparent over these seven-year cycles. But what you may be already feeling is that the new vibe coming in is ultra-raw and potent, particularly in the classic Taurus areas: body, ecology, food, business. It’s particularly tangible for Aries, Taurus and Aquarius people or anyone with those as rising signs.

As I stood in the bathroom brushing my teeth a quick glance gave me a moment too funny not to write here. I’ve done the reports and I’ve done the contemplating on this last Uranus era and no specific theme or thing seems to fit it in a way that I’d say yep – it was Uranus not Pluto or Jupiter etc and then…. I realised I hadn’t put it away because I was hadn’t decided whether to keep it or ditch it but there it was as clear as anything and it fits the timeframe pretty right. Uranus in… Read more »

About a week and a half ago, i set up a workshop brainstorm, and a client went away with it and came back after a sudden flash on … THE ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH. It’s been on my mind ever since! Mystic’s writing here made me think more on it. Have been switching between manual and electric, and all i can report is: each suits different timing and reasons for brushing! And different parts of the mouth. The tongue and roof cavities don’t like electric so much. The teeth and gums want it at different times. Yeh i’ve been laughing too.

I spent the last era self-actualising. This era is giving me hope- Greta Thunberg and the activist kids teaming up with the activist Grannies to take on politicians and neo-liberal capitalism= the big polluters. I burst into tears watching the protests… When she said “You adults are not mature enough to tell it like it is. Even this burden you leave to us children.” “We have had 30yrs of pep talks, that have yielded nothing. I don’t want your hope. I want you to panic and act as if the house is on fire… because it is.” – So much… Read more »

Dear Mystic, today in the Daily Mystic you said ‘Uranus in Taurus is going to be the backdrop until 2025: Only people born in the 1930s have experienced it before.’ Well, that terrifies me! My mother lived through horrible poverty and its concomitant ills in the bush – and the world did its pre-WW2 and holocaust prep … apart from Art Deco, Virginia Woolf, George Orwell and Scott Fitzgerald etc. is there anything good to say about the 30s for us to take heart from, now?

Sure the depression was a tough time (I was born in 1964 so not speaking from lived experience) but no one had anything, people had to be inventive, creative and frugal (grow their food, make do and mend, sew and craft and do carpentry and fix things that were broken). There was no paying a professional in those days! So I think there were gifts and stronger communities bc ppl had to help others (e.g. swaggies in Australia who wandered around doing odd jobs and getting fed by farmers etc.) Obviously I can’t think of any upsides to nazism, but… Read more »

My take on this is that we are looking at some aspects of our grandparents’ lifestyles and seeing the immense positives that we perhaps lost in the drive to consumerism – growing your own food, being self-sufficient, working harder physically outdoors by tending the crops, ‘make do and mend’ philosophy which is essentially recycling. Of course that’s massively simplistic and possibly idealistic – in the last industrial revolution there was a concurrent huge idealisation of the pastoral which bore little resemblance to actual hard life. I understand there was grinding poverty, exploitation etc but perhaps what Uranus in Toro will… Read more »

In addition to the generation sustaining themselves through handiwork, they coped with deaths on a massive scale. They took heart by giving what little they may have had, growing it, finding new ways to build community and self. And my goddess, you cannot forget about the groundbreaking and amazing art! New forms of it, even, things that had not been considered art before, as new values were needed where institutions that provided them had broken. Now, if life itself is an art, then that is an opportunity for the never-considered-as-ok lifestyles to become individuated and shine. It is the fear… Read more »

Agree! hope there’s more haute Taurus than low. Interesting, maybe that’s why western governments are trying to scare the people with ‘foreigners’ again to pretend to save us by being ‘tough on borders’. Of course it’s all rhetoric, but how much better if our politicians used positivity instead of fear as a tactic. People want something to aspire to, not building walls against others.

Also my grandparents who lived on a small farm, were largely self sufficient, had hens, dairy cows, made butter, preserved vegetables and fruits etc.

It’s not that terrifying. It makes you appreciate the small things. My mum and dad were born in the early 20s and experienced World War 2. Mum was a farm girl. My take away advice is just to down scale, live within your means. The opposite of the 80s, no huge houses etc. Have money put away for a rainy day. Simplicity brings freedom and joy. Yes we do live in uncertain times but fear doesn’t help. My mother instilled common sense into me but that came from a place of peace. It’s just that generation. And a sense of… Read more »

I am not sure but I believe that wealth was so large right before the crash (Uranus in Taurus) that it was the largest ever seen in world history. The “Roaring Twenties” made tycoon after tycoon the world over. I am sure there was a large amount of corruption going on at that time and people were living like they were in a fantasy land. I think when Uranus went into Taurus it crumbled and humbled everything!

My heating system boiler + radiators are driving me crazy. They are empty and them the spill water all over the wood floor.
This sounds more like “water rebelling” a -la Dark Moon (which isn’t over until late in the afternoon today). And then there’s the usual MR confusion, though is in the 7th house.
Uranus should be ravving up my Venus in Kataka with a sextile but it’s hard to perceive it in the middle of this mess.
I am focusing a lot on a new “mindset” thanks to Mindfulness + EMDR: maybe Uranus will speed it up?

I’ve learned so much about the futility of mowing lawn from my Taurean husbandman and now planting native grasses(indigenous to the area) and groundcovers. Although all the Taurus moons I know love a sharply edged, lush but mown lawn, (is it a throwback to a paddock?), The Toro suns I know hate the concept of mowing – it’s labour lol – and I suspect they make a point of getting rich so they can just pay someone else to do it. I have trouble letting go of that regret because I tend to feel super stupid about financial blunders in particular. But then I end up in debt or with more stress and the exact opposite of “fixing” happens.

milleunanotteMM Member

Money & body esteem = classic Taurus. Your answer may be in your own words of “all my money”. Because Taurus is also self worth, joy in earth-living, so you could ask Saturn for help to allocate some of your money (and other RESOURCES that you have that sustain) to the other parts of life that bring health and integration, and let any new health-fix ventures take TIME. Uranus is sudden, but Saturn is slow. Maybe focus the square energy from Saturn to Uranus, rather than the other way around.

libraquarian
libraquarian

You are super on-point! Uranus rising with Saturn basically playing pinball around my chart for the past few years. Everything you said resonated.

I’m trying to keep myself from spending $ I don’t have on every new promising thing that pops up, instead redirecting it towards the saturnine kind of activity that I know works, like chiropractic care, a simpler, structured schedule, better sleep.

Uranus in Aries started with me getting fired and then seven years of lessons regarding debt and giving away my power (in my 8th house). Didn’t heed the lessons until the last two years. For me, the taureans i know appears to be all about control, possessions, food and money, the physical world you can touch and see, and the rest is for flakes and wierdos.

Time to deploy the might of your Cap moon which now has the added kapow factor of Saturn and Pluto within reach. Keep records. Write everything down, even if it means ‘confirming our conversation that..’ after convos. I do that with my Virgo moon nitpicking lo-Piscean boss and it works a treat. (Soz I am taking you literally – it may have been a rhetorical q, if so please ignore. Although I do have Saturn on my moon right now so these sorts of situs as you describe are making me particularly grumpy

That’s called damned if you do and damned if you don’t. It’s rife out there. In future you just make sure you get it reiterated that you need not worry and then flatten them with the fact. That you clarified then did as you were bid. End of

Well i don’t know what to suggest re your triple libra/virgo, other than what Chrysalis & emg say. Actually my partner is a triple libra/virgo too – it took some time to attune my ear to his appeasement/sincerety axis tone. Also i’m Libra Rising so ….. BUT – in your last paragraph you succinctly & beautifully described my Taurus father-in-law. Who, btw, has just sent me a letter – this after i blew him from my life (7yrs ago when Uranus was exact on my Aries SN) after putting up with his constant put downs and open insults (in the… Read more »

the appeasement / sincerity axis. could you possibly expand on this? i am interested . i think i am starting to be able to sniff out the Libra vs virgo, but i have to be fairly detached from my own perspective – objective – to get a decent handle on that toros. to be fair, i am describing ‘muggle’ types so that is probably not so representative of our resident toro’s right here! but wow, your pa in law sounds difficult. fam can be so triggering. I know what absolution is, but in this context, what does he actually want… Read more »

Ok, what i mean by appeasement (prob wrong term) is what you term “softy, softly” – the Libra reflex response. And by sincerity i mean whether he is being wholly truthful, yet feeling uncomfortable telling you otherwise – in other words, just being accommodating. The way i know the difference with my partner, is by the tone of his voice, but my ears are finely attuned to its nuances now (many yrs of cohabitation), so he doesn’t fool me too often, lol. I know the Triple Lib is your co-worker or boss even(?) so it’s not as easy to do… Read more »

I mean yes this question is probably rhetorical, but maybe not and for what it’s worth I would relate strongly from the Cap moon part of you. I’m Virgo moon (and Libra Sun, ahem) and find Cap moons an easy fit. But the boss – employee relationship is another thing. I like to look up to my Cap moon friends – how does that work if your boss is insecure in their position, for example?

I’ve been so tired and sick for the past week. Blame it on the weather, my body can’t take any food without feeling nauseous. Liquids in then take gastro stop or two. I’m a late Aqua Rising but finally I have the answer. I even had a flashback while in a public restroom, there was an empty bottle of cheap vodka next to the sanitary bin. I picked it up check the contents…it was empty but I felt overwhelmed by intoxication that I felt my past trauma coming back and then I almost fell over while washing my hands. I… Read more »

Yup all change. I’m just feeling a touch of anxious as it’s all getting real and I’m facing the actuality of being literally above that burned bridge waiting to land after my huge leap. I’m not coming back as I’ve nothing to return to. It’s all got to go. I’m just praying that there is a new life, new home, new friends, new work, new community. All the things that I no longer have here. It’s my 2nd house that it’ll be in by the end of this year, so some final personal ego tweaking before earnings alter and worth… Read more »

Hey Emg, that reads like my life! Same, same..I just lost my spiritual partner, met him in Uranus in Aries and he passed away end of Jan, lost my work income and need to move out of my home. This all happened within 30 days.
Have been feeling so anxious about everything but there seems to be a calmness underneath.
I wish for the same as you, thanks for sharing. 🙂

Oh gosh you are in that phase when you have no choice, when life literally says move. It is so tough but you will learn such a lot and become more. Thankfully I suppose, having had the mandatory life lessons, this time I made the moves so I have only myself to blame! I am feeling very positive under it all and ready for the change. All I can say is I wish you the best that you can find in the next few months and years andlife is full of joy for you. And thanks for your wishes too… Read more »

Oh Lordy, Uranus in Aries was in my fourth and I lived in 14 different houses while it was there…..

Now it’s into my fifth house……… please don’t tell me that’s what my love life is going to be!?! I had so many shitty uncommittal relationships while it was in the fourth (happens when you chase a career and move houses and towns to suit). Argh!

Anyone have some fifth house Uranus transit stories to share with me?

Mergoat ScorpMM Member

Uranus in my fifth involved me finding out my husband was having an affair with his colleague by him accidentally calling me and just as I was about to hang up, her walking into his office so that I was a fly on the wall to their intimate and revealing conversation. Ha. I was only 24 when we married with 3 kids before I was 30 and the rest of the transit involved me having an intense relationship which was hugely sexually liberating (Oh God, SO glad I didn’t go through life still married to my ex and not experiencing… Read more »

Uranus through 5th house was an Aries thing for me, so I don’t know what a Taurean 5th house experience would be. First thing that happened was I made a firm commitment to learn through fun. I had had enough of learning through all the fucking tears and pain. A creative world opened up for me and I became a performer–in my 40s. I learned so much about the arts, artists, and energy–my personal energy and others. Maybe take some time to figure how you want to have fun passionately.

Thanks for sharing guys!

I suppose having no committed relationship for many years I’m well equipped to just faff about more,

Yes, for awhile now I’ve being trying to think of what I’m passionate about and would like to do. I used to love to read and write stories. I was a prolific creative writer during the time Uranus was in my third – but I’ve sort of lost that passion. Writing involves so much sitting down, and is quite a moody pursuit. It’s not vibing with me right now. Need to think of the next thing

I wonder if the passion shows up out the blue. Electric lightning zap like. And you respond, “Oh YEAH! That.”

Oh yes, that reminds me – during this time, I randomly said yes to an invitation to go sailing which I’d not done before. I LOVED it so much and have ended up crew racing yachts offshore all over the place. Didn’t plan it, didn’t even know I’d be good at it. Uranus was in Aries during 5th for me too. So maybe say yes to out of the blue invites? Good luck!

I tried sailing out of the blue a few years back – I loved it too, so much fun. Unfortunately I get so so so sea sick. Have to take a lot of drugs to sail 🙁 the first time I went I spewed so many times they turned around and took me back to shore, hahaha

Oh NO! What a nuisance. Initially, I’d (naively) take great pride in my lack of sea sickness. Of course, it was only a matter of time before I was completely humbled – offshore, green and vomiting off the back while everyone else did all the work. I’d have felt relieved at the time if someone had thrown me over to put me out of my misery – torturous! An old salty told me after, ‘it’s not a matter of IF you get sea sick, it’s a matter of WHEN.
