Career Changes During Mercury Retrograde?

Mercury Retrograde In Leo

A Pisces asks if career changes during Mercury Retrograde are okay. And, is it a good time to start doing Tarot Readings in her toxic office?

Hi Mystic,

Here’s what I think might be a Mercury Retrograde thing in action, but I would be curious to hear your thoughts. Work has been unreasonably stressful lately, from factors that were in play well before Mercury shadow. This eclipse is bringing some huge issues to a head. I feel I’m approaching a position where I’m likely to quit in frustration or be fired for something like “incompatibility.”

And there’s this other strange thing, where lately (like in the past year) I’ve started reading tarot cards for people I work with, or talking to them about their charts. (Much of my education in the astro area is thanks to years of reading you!) I’ve been too embarrassed to charge anyone for it. But I know I’m not bad at it and would like to get better.

This brings me to this week: The department head is flying across the country to say his farewell to a departing colleague at my office branch and to, likely, take to pacing right behind my desk. This boss has been extraordinarily paranoid lately and hard to work with, rightfully fearing some employee revolt. (I should add here that I’m private sector and not gov’t, but people I work with have described it as “the Trump situation in miniature.”) Meanwhile, I gave two people tarot readings over my lunch break with cards someone else had brought in.

A Brilliant Or Idiotic Business Move?

I’m wondering whether it’s a brilliant or idiotic business move to hone in on the insane eclipse energy and the psychic potential of the long VOC Cap Moon Thursday/Friday (again thanks to you for that heads-up) — and block off after 5 pm to do readings for anyone interested. I get a lot out of tapping into intuitive work with my colleagues.  People seem to enjoy it, but on the other hand, in-office readings are a bit noisy (it’s like the stress slows the air somehow).

And of course, there’s the aspect of doing it when the boss is right there, whose latest measure on my actual work was “not good enough” (when it’s not even the work I signed up for). If he asks for a reading, I charge him money. Is this an eclipse issue or just lousy Mercury-brain?

Planning to pack the cards just in case,

Pisces

PS – I’m a copywriter, and Virgo rising, so Mercury retro is always, always something I stay conscious of. That’s why I’m fearful that I’m foolishly impulsive — it seems like the kind of week where those impulses could have disastrous outcomes.

Hi Pisces!

You know what’s funny? I’m Pisces, and I read this as you getting ready to make a break for it. But in a classic Pisces fashion. “I feel like I’m approaching a position where...” is Pisces talk for “I’m getting ready to bolt.” Let’s walk this through. You are comparing your workplace, managers, and office environment to the current USA presidential administration. And you are planning to become the resident work-witch, giving Tarot readings. On an Eclipse. You’re sensing (correctly) that this “could have disastrous outcomes.

But hey you’re Pisces. If you were a bird right now, you wouldn’t be at home in your nest. You’d be out there surfing the cross-currents of turbulent Air, happy that you didn’t need even to flap your wings to stay aloft.

Frog-marched Out Of The Building By Muggle Goons

Whether this is a “brilliant or idiotic” business decision depends on how willing you are to make your desire to leave a conscious thing. Because it’s SO super-Pisces to set circumstances up so that you get fired or “have to leave” but avoid the actual moment of having to say “I’m out.”

It would be healthier in a Saturnine sense to take responsibility for removing yourself from a toxic situation. But leaving the building clutching your smudge stick and Tarot cards, escorted by Muggle Goons, has its appeal. Let’s all say a silent (or loud) prayer of gratitude for living in days/countries where “annoying bosses” is the only consequence of witching it up in the workplace.

Career changes during Mercury Retrograde can be brilliant. But you ideally wait until Mercury is Direct again to enable them.

What does everyone else think? There is a veritable coven of witty wisdom on here; we know that!

Hey everyone not sure if you have seen this but in looking for the edit button I noticed a bunch of cool new features for the comments… there is a little ‘settings’ button to the left and you can click on it to read all your recent comments, delete them if you want. Plus you can see recent commenters by avatar and view them all by number of reactions and ‘hottest’ comments. I know I’m probably the last to see these icons as I am not tech savvy but it’s worth playing around with them if you haven’t already xx

To alter a verb,

Yes I no longer have one but I thought it was just kind of me, or punishment for being prolix (from the Universe, not the site). I know, i know what that sounds like, but fq it, it’s real. Anyway, i stopped commenting so much, but i was already going to and the missing Edit button just made me think, Good Idea.

Everything Sag in me (and there is a LOT) says to “RUN, GIRL, AND FAST!”, but all my Taurus says, “Be reasonable, and think of your security”. So do both. Run to something better that will still offer you security while you work to build your spiritual gifts as a business. I have recently had to do the same thing (only nine work days left with fuq-wit muggles…and that’s putting it nicely). Make sure you take care of yourself by both executing a strategic Virgo plan, and leaving a (lower Pisces energy) toxic situation. Best of luck, Pisces!

I’m Pisces with Virgo rising as well and I recognize the one foot out the door, ready to bolt for witchier horizons behaviour. But after two decades of this same bolting without a solid Saturn plan (because intuition! magic! Plans? Boring!), Saturn Square Neptune showed me that I was just repeating a pattern of bailing on one tedious work situation and ending up stuck in another one because I didn’t have a plan as to how to make an amazing change and so ended up broke and desperate and needing to take another crap job because that’s all I qualified… Read more »

I’d say he has Natal Mars, Saturn & Pluto, in strong aspect, and they’re being pinged by a transit. I have been in situations where, if l had been the boss, I’d sack the slackers too. I have Mars cj Pluto (Virgo 2nd) trine 6H Saturn in Cap.

Yes to the MC. I actually think sometimes people need a rocket. No use being smiley affable if there is slackers in ya company. Customers don’t get value for money, the company’s profitability is compromised and wage rises are harder to attain. I say no to slackers and l have sympathy for any boss that has to deal with that sort of stupidity.

I would find other successful occult (tarot Astro numerology etc) readers to show your subconscious mind that tarot reading can be a real lucrative profession. Also start saving a safety net of 3-6 months rent/basic necessities. Good luck!

I like this “It would be healthier in a Saturnine sense to take responsibility for removing yourself from a toxic situation.”. We have all dreamed about going out in a blaze of glory but my Saturine sense is to stick it to them by first lining up another gig, then at the most opportune time, like once you have accepted the new gig, that day use your Pisces to bring up one of those situations where the boss would get mad then BAM after he says his spill lay it on him, give him the finger and walk out to… Read more »

If you really need this job and the money it pays , then behaving in a professional manner is important , even if you absolutely detest every nano second of your time there.
Doing readings, especially in such a toxic work space is a bad idea.
Either stay there, and work to the best of your ability or jump ship.
Take control.

Leave the job — because if it is unpleasant, you can understand how the lovely people there might also need to leave soon too. Therefore if you stay you’ll just be stuck in the lower job with the bad managers. Consider that some of your lovely people may already be involved in plans to exit; just keep in touch with them.

kriblackMM Member

Definitely leave the job. I’ve stayed in too many miserable jobs because of people I loved working with and ended up wasting years being miserable for the sake of friends who didn’t keep in touch after I finally left. Work friends are lovely but they’re not worth stalling your life for. And if they are worth it, they’ll stay friends outside of work.

As a Piscean who’s been around the block with Saturn a few times, Trumpesqe boss may just be feeling the heat of KPIs and keeping shit together, he may also be an arsehole but give him the benefit of the doubt. Reading cards at work isn’t appropriate, if you want to push things and blame ‘the man’ for getting pushed out of a job you don’t like go for it. Adulting would be to tow the line and find an appropriate escape route with a steady income stream. Feeling sooo old and crusty right now…

milleunanotteMM Member

Old is only the feeling. Mature and Professional are the keywords many of us ridiculously naive and weirdly humble hubris-driven people actually work towards even in our later years.

I have often felt old but immature. You have a gift, and it should be celebrated. Celebrations are the energy our stupid media image driven shit associates with youth but only really so it can sell. You are the absomute Real, and you do inspire, powerfully amd imperfectly. Rock on 🙂 xx

This reminds me of a case which is happening here atm, where a formal investigation into a (woman) judge for moonlighting as a tarot card reader is taking place. This is to see whether disciplinary action should be taken & to see whether her moonlighting activities are compatible with her civic duties. She is already infamous for taking her cat to court sessions on previous occasions. 🙂 I would love to see her chart…. Maybe the SN-Mars conjunction in Aqua is really kicking in for her.

LOVE the red knitted dress and handbag.
Don’t quit your job to go and read Tarot.
Have you written a business plan? What about cashflow? How will you pay your rent/mortgage?
The universe will not provide. The universe will expect you to take care of the details before it sends a miracle your way.
Signed, multi-Pisces with a Cap moon that is just out from under Pluto, now looking at my (high end) watch and waiting for Saturn. xx

Very good advice. Many people need to work a day job while building up a business for themselves. The writer should try and make it work at their current job for their own sake, by saving card readings for outside the office. Or look for another job so they can get out of there. A bad job sucks but worrying about money really sucks too.

I am Neptunian but most of all a Virgo rising and a Moon in Taurus. So first things first: stop reading tarots at work. Seriously. Stop doing it because it’s not professional. If you hate your job start building another opportunity and then quit but until you are there you must behave professionally. Don’t give them other opportunities to fire you. Getting fired it’s awful and it leaves you scared and hurt and with a damaged self esteem. You want to do Tarot reading today afternoon for the Full Moon? Well do it in a coffee shop, in a park,… Read more »

legit started reading this, realized the mounting dread/hilarity, stopped to get a trashy snack and a teeny glass of spirits, and came back to finish reading, in juicy anticipation for that classic Mystic reframing of those all-too-Real feels we get sometimes

don’t burn your bridges in this economy, and give these ppl a reason to talk sh!t later! just bounce if you’re done, do some readings for yourself (with your own damn cards!!!) before and after as needed

I second mutatis mutandis. It sounds like you are DONE with work. So quit instead of waiting to be fired.
As a person who works closely with HR, I really wouldn’t set up a situation where they can fire you for esoteric moinldghting you are doing. Even if you transition to tarot reading full time, you want to leave your current job cleanly so that you can use them as a reference in the future.

Put the cards away at work… totally could be a neptunian self sabotage move. If you love doing the cards – take them elsewhere, like someone else said, set up in a cafe, or do email readings at home! Def agree with Saturning the situation, make a solid plan to break free – (as someone with an often totally avoidant Pisces Moon) I know it can be easy to just not do the practical thing, but you will for sure feel and way more empowered for taking those steps rather than continuing to feel weird in your environment. wow how am I the first to comment? Pisces, I used to give readings when I worked nights in a hospital as a unit clerk…about twelve years ago now. It was great practice and really taught me a lot. Even people I knew were devout in their faiths (Mormon, Catholic, Muslim, a Baptist…) sat down for a reading. I made people cry. I loved it. Eventually working nights made me batty and I went to days and that was that. So I can legit see the appeal of giving readings to people you spend hours of your life with, enjoying… Read more »

Amazing response AriesPiscesLibra! And I agree with this as well Pisces. Get out of a shitty job as soon as you can. It took my 2.5 years and $10 000 of savings to find the slightly better job i’m in now. It takes a lot of work generally unless you have other immediate options. Judge as maturely as possible re the appropriateness of the readings. Listen to your body to ascertain if it is/is not contextually OK. Lol, I had a multiple Pisces boyfriend years ago who I swore made me play charades with him on a regular basis without realizing it. He would subconsciously act out how he felt and I had to guess what was going on. It became a regular thing. He would say one thing but his behavior would be glaringly different. It was very frustrating because he would wildly contradict himself. Even he didn’t understand or realize what he was doing. I learned to go with the actions over the words with him.
