Tarot Card Consults In The Eighties

Filed in Tarot

Yes, Millennials – Eighties Tarot readings were honestly like this.

Seriously though, there is something thrilling about the way Joan Collins says the word “regiments” in this clip.

Remember, it was the Pluto in Scorpio era. We had mousse that led to flammable hair and geometrically applied blusher that you could see from Space.

We had aunts who modeled themselves on Dynasty characters and if we wanted to talk to someone or say we had the hots for them we had to phone them up or see them in person.

Luckily all the hair product and lurex thread served as a de facto aura shield.

Everybody smoked, Harvey Weinstein level hell was “a day at the office” and even our dressing gowns had shoulder pads.

And an Eighties Tarot card reading often involved a telling-off.

Or, the Tarot reader hitting on you. A certain style of person in that era associated the occult with getting laid.

Video: Dynasty – the Eighties version.

Ahahahaha…. I like this very much!

Do I see clearly… yes?!?

The drama – 80’s soaps had a unique klnd of drama that I’d forgotten.

The death card – he will expire. So funny 🙂

“It could be a regiment” LOL! Ohh this makes me nostalgic for those old, grand soaps, if only for the hair and shoulder pads. Are any of them on streaming services??

The fortune reader is Swedish actress Viceca Lindfors – a Cappy for sure! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viveca_Lindfors

Yes, the fortuneteller’s look is everything. I want to look like that when I’m old (you know, in about 6 years’ time).

I was always more falcon crest than dynasty but nobody could out Joan mrs Collins on the shoulder pads, hair and cat fights. The 80’s were sponsored by the words “ more” and “bigger”

Die Nasty had it all. I remember squealing with delight after each episode! Welcome back MM.

I think my fascination with Tarots started around then. We (8 uni students) used to watch Dallas and then Dynasty religiously (lmao) so who knows but this could have sparked my love of Tarots

Then Id be suggesting that she get married pretty damn quick and get the estate written over. Or is this just Saturn in Cap and Jup in Scorpio talking?

I didn’t appreciate her until i saw her on this site ages back, with her sister.

(Gen X-er, and one of the things that typified us was our scorn and judgey attitude towards the style of the immediately preceding gen, in contrast with Gen Y and Millen explorations and embracing of the immediate retro. Love their attitudes!)
