Tarot Card Consults In The Eighties

Yes, Millennials – Eighties Tarot readings were honestly like this.

Seriously though, there is something thrilling about the way Joan Collins says the word “regiments” in this clip.

Remember, it was the Pluto in Scorpio era. We had mousse that led to flammable hair and geometrically applied blusher that you could see from Space.

We had aunts who modeled themselves on Dynasty characters and if we wanted to talk to someone or say we had the hots for them we had to phone them up or see them in person.

Luckily all the hair product and lurex thread served as a de facto aura shield.

Everybody smoked, Harvey Weinstein level hell was “a day at the office” and even our dressing gowns had shoulder pads.

And an Eighties Tarot card reading often involved a telling-off.

Or, the Tarot reader hitting on you. A certain style of person in that era associated the occult with getting laid.

Ahahahaha…. I like this very much!

Do I see clearly… yes?!?

The drama – 80’s soaps had a unique klnd of drama that I’d forgotten.

The death card – he will expire. So funny ๐Ÿ™‚

SheRat

Freakin CLASSIC.

scorpiodawn

what is the card she gets for the fortune teller to say he will ask her to marry him?

Veronica

Death card. The Visconti Sforza cards, I think

scorpiodawn

its the card before the death card…

Centaurus

Yes that deck… King Swords but… he will expire (death card) …. Mwhahahahaha….

Chrysalis

“It could be a regiment” LOL! Ohh this makes me nostalgic for those old, grand soaps, if only for the hair and shoulder pads. Are any of them on streaming services??

lucia

๐Ÿ™ glad to see the stereotypical clownish fortuneteller is Italian. we’re not all like that in our country. just saying

lucia

๐Ÿ™‚ xxx

Sam

It’s crazy because all my Italian lady friends of any age are absolutely gorgeous, self-possessed, hospitable, caring, intelligent, hard working, full of life, funny… Omg I miss them

lucia

thank you Pi! ๐Ÿ™‚ x

LadyLeh

Agree w Mystic – be proud of this one!

dark star

I love how she is wearing red in the horse accident flashback- subtle sneaking in the shadows to set gun off attire lol

scorpiodawn

wonder who the other actress is…she’s pretty saturn/cappy with that stunning bone structure!

OldBattyBat

The fortune reader is Swedish actress Viceca Lindfors – a Cappy for sure! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viveca_Lindfors

scorpiodawn

thanks, battybat!

Buckle (Aries Sun; Pisces Asc; Gem Moon.)

Yes, the fortuneteller’s look is everything. I want to look like that when I’m old (you know, in about 6 years’ time).

Alouetta

I know right? Good bones.

scorpiodawn

love joanie. and love that princess leia style dress!

Clavdia C

I want that glowing orb. I love that actress and how she is stroking it. Fantastic.

moss1228

i remember!!! love it!

Unicorn Sparkles

I was always more falcon crest than dynasty but nobody could out Joan mrs Collins on the shoulder pads, hair and cat fights. The 80โ€™s were sponsored by the words โ€œ moreโ€ and โ€œbiggerโ€

Caroline B

Die Nasty had it all. I remember squealing with delight after each episode! Welcome back MM.

JacQui

I think my fascination with Tarots started around then. We (8 uni students) used to watch Dallas and then Dynasty religiously (lmao) so who knows but this could have sparked my love of Tarots

Pema

Regiments is thrilling yes, but the shriek โ€œexpire!โ€ Wins

Virgonator

Agreed.

bcappy

Totally

dark star

YES

metaMarcy

That was my favorite part too.

scorpiodawn

yes lol…the whole thing is thrilling lol

Alouetta

Absolutely.

Comet

He will expire! Hysterical!

emg

Then Id be suggesting that she get married pretty damn quick and get the estate written over. Or is this just Saturn in Cap and Jup in Scorpio talking?

(Gen X-er, and one of the things that typified us was our scorn and judgey attitude towards the style of the immediately preceding gen, in contrast with Gen Y and Millen explorations and embracing of the immediate retro. Love their attitudes!)
