This post inspired some astro sleuthing re:Uranus effect on chart. I always thought other astro weather more significant like Saturn on my asc or nep/sat squares/ Chiron on piscean stellium. Totally wrong!
Uranus was conjunct on some of my biggest jumps re going to school far away, traveling, finding core passions…wtf intuition kind of choices that were the everything. Also 6th house =Uranus aries daily life revamp with Dave Asprey and Tim Ferriss life hacks
excited for 7th h action, couch innovation, zapping outmoded food establishment, space gardens

Lux Interior Is My Co-Pilot

I love MMs rants…

Hoping Uranus in Taurus means great innovations re: food, money and couches πŸ™‚

dark star

I would pay big money for an eco chic comfortable feather light couch

Sam

I only buy furniture I can move myself. Feather light ftw!

baristagem

My neighbour just had a King Furniture lounge delivered. They just bought about 20k’s worth of couch…

Cherry Moon

Ouch!!

Gemyogi

I bought a king modular one on sale — 9 years ago. It’s comfy and I like the fabric, except you can’t remove the covers and wash them! you have to borrow one of those steam cleaning vacuum things from Bunnings.

Next couch will have removable washable covers!

emg

oh gods no. A couch or sofa has to be huge squishy warm snuggly and fill the room. I am the proud owner of five of them currently and only got rid of the 6th because friends really pleaded with me to sell it to them. Its ten foot long and about the same deep. As are all my sofas. Cancer cancer cancer cancer here of course.

emg

If they’re not they’re in denial !!

Sam

couch is just socially acceptable bed (cocoon) for when the sun is up.

Cassie

Whatever energy is happening today, your Oracle has the same sass asshole attitude I do. What sarcasm. At least it is humbling to hear it to my face. So I took notes, I need to chill out because I can not be talking to people like that all day. I won’t have any friends.

Pi

in hindsight, uranus transits seem to be best described as “kaleidoscopic” maybe…

Jokerman

Collideskopic?

Leo-Scorp Grrrl

I can see the 7 yr cycles to my houses. Seemingly business as usual going in then struggle to ending in better place. Forced rethinking were the struggles. Such as “here’s the elephant in the room- What are you going to do about it?” In the last two cycles, I chose to do it my way, ultimately. I worked hard behind the scenes to innovate. To others it looked easy, but the necessary changes were far from easy. Wondering what Uranus to 7th will bring. Certainly do NOT want the ex back, lol. And NOT looking to partner unless it… Read more »

Uranus in Taurus is fine if you’re planning a baby for next May or June.

But what is right here, right now and becoming more focused over the next 6 to 8 weeks, is the Saturn Chiron square – probably the main outer planet theme for 2017.

No fear. Old pain, new gain!

davidl

I’m hoping Uranus in Taurus can straighten out some of the new business models that have sprung up. One of the models I refer to is ‘monetizing free stuff’ … Google for example.. Send bots out to trawl, (take, steal) all the free stuff (our data) repackage it as ‘information’ (theirs), and then on sell the details of who viewed the free stuff so we can buy stuff that’s not free ? Have I lost you πŸ˜‰

Jokerman

Exactly

pi

not at all, I kind of think of it as a new form of primary industry…. think of the last millenium’s equivalent: forestry, mining, ocean resources, people, all there for the taking for whoever gets in first. Or how about clean air? Ït’s gonna cost you if you actually want us not to pollute your own water

Buy low (or just take it!) sell hiiiigh, soo highhhh

dark star

Or you can have a successful start up/ business …until google/ amazon sees what you’re doing and then replicates it

davidl

One of the paradoxe

Gemyogi

Having read the Rant it sounds positive to me… lots of change structurally (which the world *needs*) and as a triple toro I feel that it will suit me. (super practical, grounded, ‘hippyish’, etc. Have pretty much un-debted myself and learned to live on a small income the past few years. Giving up a FT corporate job to study art seemed pretty crazy but it has paid off in terms of sanity and igniting my passion for life again — also meeting another cool set of peeps — I’m in pretty good shape. Having a lot of taurus and Aries… Read more »

p.s. so Uranus is finally leaving my 12th (aries) and entering my 1st (Taurus)

LA

I AM VERY EXCITED. It’ was 13 years in my 12th house and I can see those seven year cycles so much!

emg

how did you find your 12th house zap?

gogengo

YESSSSS

MercurialMuse

It’s real AF. I was with my ex for the entirety of Uranus in my 7th… including conjunct my Sun during the Pluto squares up until the point of Uranus entering my 8th and joining my Venus last year, then we split. It’s trine my Mars now and honestly, even as a fire dominant being, I’m so over it lol. My NN is 0 Taurus so I’m looking forward to what shifts this reins in.

sphinx

I was wondering if Uranus in Taurus would be beneficial for pharmaceutical companies? They seem to be merging into huge single, corporate monopoly… Globalisation has given them such power to dominate health policy, no? Would that be the Pluto effect? Marty Armstrong says, “the healthcare business has been the ONLY industry, aside from politicians in Washington, who are not subject to the business cycle”. I just tend to think of the body being Taurus, Uranus being innovation and technology, so DNA alteration, robotic prosthetic type tech, AI on the move, etc. Also with the Taurus ruling the voice and maybe… Read more »

I’ve been reading up on a new tool for gene editing called CRISPR. I think this tool will help change our whole approach to disease and illness. CRISPR tech succeeds in making permanent changes to the genome. The process of permanent genome editing with CRISPR is very quick, like 5 mins, surprisingly simple, a first year student could do it, at a cost of about $20 per edit ! Why aren’t we using it right now ? Because 3 major academic institutions all claim ownership of the intellectual property and have put a hold on applying it till they fight… Read more »

Pi

My question is this, and it is not an attack on your post DL, it is a philosophical opener about the human condition. It’s completely fair and reasonable to wish to heal at a genetic level some major causes of pain and suffering , that’s a given or are we just trying to cure death? once we eliminate all illness, all disease, once we legislate and regulate out all self-determined life-endangering activity including the use of various substances, and mental health conditions that make us reconsider our desire to live, and we all die of old age instead, how do… Read more »

monte

Yeah, excellent thoughts and questions Pi. We can cure some very basic things on this planet right now. It seems that our interests are in other places.

davidl

I’m not spruiking gene editing as the answer to all our problems. I was responding to Andy and her comments re: big pharma. I just used CRSPR as an example of a competing modality that could disrupt the whole pharma business model over the longer term. That said. Genes that carry disease signatures could be eliminated simply by people not having children with closely related partners. We are more closely related to a lot more people than we realise. There are quite a few diseases that cause much suffering generation after generation that would disappear in one generation simply by… Read more »

pi

yes that’s true – things like huntington’s, autoimmune disorders, muscular dystrophy ..that sort of thing. good point.

Sam

More to the point DL, who the hell has children with closely related partners these days? Cults maybe? & I thought we outlawed marrying cousins… Migration and the kind of modern practice of leaving the village to find a partner has kind of helped with genetic diversity. If we all made a point of spawning with someone from outside our (say) race or sociocultural community, it would probably mean the human race is a bit more resilient, immunologically speaking.. actually I read a thing where the people we have the most hardcore chemistry with are those whose immune system is… Read more »

sphinx

There are still problems in Pakistani communities where there is still a culture for marrying very closely in, first cousins etc. 70% are ‘inbred’, 55% of UK Pakistanis are married to a cousins. Saudis have similar statistics. Ideally the babies of such unions would receive gene therapy as the consequences of inbreeding are not great for all concerned, but sadly that seems unlikely.

davidl

Cousins can marry under Australian law.
Though it’s broader than that.
“β€”that everybody who was alive in Europe a thousand years ago and who had children, is an ancestor of everyone alive today who has some European ancestry,”

Do the math Pi x

Jokerman

Very interesting. On WDYTYA on SBS a number of ppl .came up with Charlamagne as an ancestor.
Another thing is that the upper classes of the UK are of Norman heritage and hate the French more the lower classes who trace Germanic DNA.

Sam

Eugenics is a bit more, um, final than the gene therapy you’ve described though I think?

davidl

Gene editing is considered eugenics.

Pi

gene editing sounds terribly virgo.

sphinx

This is super interesting D, I don’t know enough about genetics to truthfully understand the implications. But as with much in our society I suspect we have many of the answers already and they are obscured by those who value money over life.

emg

I’m interested in all that everyone has brought here. I just had my genes assessed and am amazed by the results. Stuff it took me twenty odd years to figure out was there on paper. So we’re the answers! As in alter the environment, the food, the situations, even the training regime you put yourself through. So whilst the uni’s fight it out over intellectual property why aren’t we getting each child delivered to suck on a cotton wool lollipop take their gene code and then give them the map to health for them. Although every one of us still… Read more »

Can I ask which company you used emg (also if you’re in Aust)? I’m thinking of doing this and sounds like you found it really interesting and helpful!

emg

I am in the UK and so it is a home grown company as such dealing with fitness and diet but the area is massive and for me just hands you your health blue print and a big dose of responsibility to treat the vehicle right. Must agree that big Pharma will find they are pretty much obsolete if we all follow our own code ! All I keep thinking is Jeee I wish I had known this 45 years ago, it would have saved me numerous trips to dr’ hospitals, and taking rubbish drugs. I did eventually sort it… Read more »

Thanks emg – I love this concept of healing through unlocking the code!

sphinx

I remember reading about this idea of individualised medicine being the future as at the time scientists were dividing up the population into broad genetic groups. They found they responded differently to drugs (no shit!) and were hoping to provide more personalised medical and drug support. I bet Big Pharma hated this. You go to the doctor and you try hundreds of dollars of one drug, doesn’t work you try the next etc is far more enriching for them. You array of tests sounds really interesting! If it is not too personal I am curious about what you had done… Read more »

Gene editing is what a ‘free will’ society comes up with to deal with the consequences of free will.We do tend to make things way harder than they could be.
When you are chasing your tail you miss just about everything other than your own pudenda.

Sam

that’s really cool emg. That you could have the info right there to work with.

I’m ruled by Uranus and will be moving into a new apartment towards the end of next year. This will be the first adult home that is truly me. This seems tres` Uranus in Taurus. In the tail wind of Uranus in Aries I’ve started up my own business for the first time. It’s kind of a hobby at the mo but I’m hoping U in T helps me develop into a full-time career.

emg

Ah this is so on point. My Aqua man is literally at 52 will be 53 and he’s doing exactly what you are. He’s becoming in charge of his first home and taking full responsibility for his life i.e. Getting a proper job in “” that pays him enough to live on and keep himself. I’ve literally just said to him this is going to be about his store cupboard, filling it and living his life securely. This Uranus is in his 10th for many years and I’m sure it’s going to be a really good growth spurt !

emg

Personally I’ve still got years of 1st house Uranus but I’m anticipating a shift of focus for Taurus. Oh and it’ll hit my NN at some point in my 2nd when it gets there. I would like a business boom please !!

davidl

Uranus is nearly through my 10th and it’s been interesting. This transit for me has been the opposite to what I had thought it would bring or feel like. The first thing it did was destroy my career hopes and aspirations till they were like shreds on the ground. That took 2 years. The next 2 years I was taught that any attempts to resurrect even one shred from these old career aspirations was futile. I was foiled at every step. Thoughts like OMG am I totally useless ? We’re confirmed and shown to be evident. The last 2 years… Read more »

Jupiter always does that to me. The opposite of what you would hope for as it destroys first then reveals the new route. I’m sort of getting used to it now. Possibly it simply shows you the actuality and that it isn’t as whoopee do as you thought it was, then it guides you into the right stuff, the ahhhh moment. Uranus tends to just throw me on the ground. That is an old tale of broken bones and unconsciousness but I learned I am very very sensitive to morphine! yuk.

Sam

ok love this some thoughts… the strange metal that pentacles are made from is in fact all of the E-waste (there was a word for it, Charles the toro mentioned it once… krumf? something like that) generated during the tech manufacturing boom of uranus in Aries. so it will be a metal plastic hybrid.. NO wait… all the e-waste is shovelled into high-temperature incinerators that use the heat to generate electricity (waste-to-energy scheme, this is a pluto in cap supported practice), all best practice clean air tech of course so as to capture the dioxins… ok cool so then the… Read more »

ooh, all my uranus in taurus friends and family are going to have moon uranus transits!! exciting πŸ˜‰

I also wonder if this will be the time that science makes artificial meat. there’s only so much rainforest we can clear for soybean crops.

Pi

oh right! excellent πŸ™‚ that thing where I skim stuff and not click thru..

davidl

Jeez Pi, as a member of the gem rising club you must know rule no.1 ? Never admit to skimming ! What you meant to say was .. Oh right, but did you know that artificial meat was… (connecting skillfully to a a totally disparate subject). E.g. Artificial meat was.. found by Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface and covertly brought back in a Tupperware that still sits in some warehouse in the Arizona desert. Armstrongs wife sold Tupperware at the time. Saucy little vixen she was, she slept with Kennedy you know. Armstrong admitted later that he tried a morsel,… Read more »

hahahah damn yes i need to update my tactics πŸ˜‰

I’m thinking do we even need to eat meat?

They’ve been making artificial meat since 2013 (just filling in the Gemmy Knowledge πŸ˜‰ ) http://www.sciencefocus.com/article/future/artificial-meat-factory

I gave it up years ago and haven’t noticed the difference. I stick to the Mediterranean/Pescatarian diet but I’m also obsessed with Japanese food.

1: When Uranus into Aries (my 10th Ruled) l last worked at the school where l was the ResiUran. I left in 2nd week of June. Aided by the Cap becoming my own personal Trunchbull, ostensibly my boss, when Pluto went into Cap in 2008 2: March 2011 Uranus re-entered Aries l resigned my position bcos of coercion. I was sick of the PnCs; not to be confused with the P&C Assoc. 3: Currently Uran went Rx just before my 29* Aries MC. And Centaurus, above, prompts me to think that my Virgoan Mars, Pluto, Vesta & Venus and Sat in Cap will GTd by Uran in Toro.

Centaurus

Moo-ve on out of Aries already Uranus. Yes, somebody had to say it.

Uranus will still be zapping my 12th for a while til my Asc degree is activated but I anticpate great (or wild and whacky) things when the Virgo trine activates.

VenusRules

Same…my ascendant is 28 Taur and my 12th house is super large. But any reduction in Aries energy is good for me. It’s the worst for me.

Yes!
I knew him as an animated character in the film Ferdinand the Bull. I was thinking of it just the other day. Or rather, he popped into my head.
