Mega Mystic Members: American Eclipse

Filed in ASTROLOGY

There has been a fair amount of fear-mongering and freak-outs re the total Solar Eclipse of August 21-22 this year. At 28 degrees of Leo, it’s being called the “American Eclipse” as it tracks right across America. The last time there was a total coast to coast Eclipse like this in America was 1918.

See the NASA map below for the areas most affected by this lunar spectacular. So yes, parts of the U.S.A will be in total darkness for a few minutes (Nashville, for example) and places like New York, Houston and Miami will experience 75 % darkness.

It sounds spooky but i also think some the astrological speculation around this is a bit over the top. So here is my take on it. It’s true that total Eclipses generate an ominous atmosphere – the Sun seems to disappear and birds stop singing. The very magnetism of the globe we live on feels different.

Astrologically, it’s really easy to let one’s politics interfere with a rational assessment. It’s America, the super power of the world; what if they do something, you know, heavy handed? Or something unprecedented happens? The Eclipse is BANG on the degree of Donald Trump’s Mars in Leo and Ascendant – this is when bias or (okay, logical) concerns for the stability of the current POTUS set in and cause Eclipse nerves.   It is also right on the fixed star Regulus, one of the four so-called Noble Stars, and connected with rulers.

Solar Eclipses are like super-heated over the top New Moons, that often come with forced growth and drastic decisions. But if you look (at the bottom) of the actual chart of the Eclipse, it is not that full on. The big one of April 2014 or even the one most similar to the American Eclipse in August – that of August 1999 – they were wilder.  This one – you can see below – is a line up of Leo vibe that is actually supported by Saturn and Uranus. It is part of a Grand Fire Trine, which is GOOD.

So obviously we can’t afford to be super lala about developing geopolitical tensions and the ongoing Pluto in Capricorn reshape of our economy – the coming Globalist Versus Localist fun themes of Uranus in Taurus etc. And i claim no expertise in political predictions. But my feeling about this American Eclipse is not nearly so dire as many of those you will see. I think that there is a possibility that the current president of the USA will spit the dummy and stalk off the job, citing various shadowy forces of political correctness or whatever blocking him from carrying out his will.

Three months before the Eclipse – aka late May – is always a good little “tell” of likely Solar Eclipse themes so watch the media/news flow vibe around then, if you are interested. And of course, I will be featuring it more in your Horoscopes closer to the date.

If you are an Astro-School student, there are some really good lessons/posts in there about Eclipses so this might be a good opportunity to put some of your tips and techniques into practice – share in the comments!

Ooh Trump themes of late May.. tonight on the news I saw the headline “calls for impeechment”.. *grabs popcorn*

This looks rather ominous to me. Could we have any more planets going backwards? Against my own chart, Saturn Rx is reversing and running down my Neptune…in the 12th, Uranus Rx does the same to my IC, Pluto Rx does the same to my Mars in Cancer from my 1st house, while Mars is also being squared by Uranus Rx, and then that whole Leo cluster F is happening directly on top of my 8th house Leo Sun/Merc conjunction…which squares my natal Scorp Uranus. All I’m seeing is my own death. That being said, that’s pretty much all I ever… Read more »

It’s on top of my Uranus/Venus/north node conjunction, third house. I’m a little freakin out….but balanced by Saturn Rolfing back and forth on my seventh house cusp (26 sag) and Pluto tunneling into my eighth house cusp (17 cap) so mostly I’m just all oh why the hell bother with anything. This is probably not the right way to go with all this energy.

The last session of a writing workshop on retelling myths that I’m teaching in NYC will be happening on the eclipse, it looks like, so I’ll have to pick a few reading selections of myths having to do with eclipses/the cosmos for that day .

Love your ever clear headed and wise take on astral events, Mystic, ever.

I am not fearing WW3 but I woke up to a crazy thunderstorm last night and no lie, my first thought was bombs. Agree with LV about DT’s health, I absolutely think something will go sour with his health while he is in office.

Relating the experience with my own life is trippy because I had a lot of huge life changes in 99 and the following years. Pluto was also on my moon so upheaval was inevitable,. The upcoming eclipse will be on my Vesta & Mercury 10H. Will employ my spidey senses late May.

Pluto was also conjunct Chiron around 99- I was just looking at the ephemeris last nite….. worth looking into if you’re Chiron sensitive. Have always denied Chiron sensitivity and yet- my sun is at 28 Sag and I’m *feeling* the Saturn Chiron square.

The chart above has 2 GTs as well Jup the Focal of a T Square. One of the GTs is kited by Jup. So whichever way it goes it’ll be BIG.

26th Jan ’91 was on the sand of the lagoon in Moorea (south pacific) for that year’s Annular eclipse, the time of the catastrophe’s in Iraq, which i was running away from. SPOOKY more so because of not being dressed i guess and not expecting it as no newspapers or radio warnings. A fire dancer turned to me and said ‘the Moon is eating the Sun’. The following year was walking along the road, no street lights, just moonlight to guide the way, when the Moon was eclipsed, same unexpectedness. As there nearly a 360* view with total clarity both… Read more »

I’m going to the Eclipse Festival in Oregon… Should be quite an experience. I see this as quite a positive thing.. Choosing not to engage in fear-based realities at the moment! What’s that old saying, FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real.. In these Trumpian times, it’s a good reminder to non-attach from the fear-based BS that is cluttering the noosphere.

Oregon, my hippie dream country 🙂
Rex there would be some interesting peoples there that would be my style of radical.

The 1999 eclipse unleashed a set of horrible mental & physical shocks upon me. It was conjunct my Uranus/Mars (3º-4º orb)

This eclipse is happening on my Venus-Vesta-Regulus (all same degree as DT’s Asc)….. so yeah…I am NOT at all thrilled about the upcoming event.

I’m hoping that trans Uranus being trine Sun instead of opposite – as it was in 1999 – it won’t be as shocking or painful…. a transition/change yes, but not with horror…….. pleeeeaase?

It’s going to be pretty close to where we live in Oregon, so we’ll be there. Debating between going to the desert or going to the coast to watch it come in over the ocean…… may check the whether before it happens and decide last minute.

My sun is at 28 Sag and Venus at 21 Sag, so I feel like this is going to be a positve new start for me. I already bought “eclipse glasses” for my whole family haha

Thank you so much, MM, for putting things into perspective, this is very helpful!

– I remember August 1999, I was in Europe at the time, and the wonderful (!), albeit all-encompassing and fateful changes that one and especially the one in April 2014 brought about…now I am curious and will pay close attention to the end of May.

I will certainly be paying attention in late May. It’s been pretty much constant political vigilance for most people I know these days. I am really excited about this eclipse, actually. It’s conjunct my ascendant and my child’s sun. I am in the US so, ba-da bing, things are going to be big. The previous FM in Aqua on August 7 will have been conjunct my moon so I know I will be getting a deep workout and clearing. I was living in Europe in 1999 and we all watched the very visible total solar eclipse. I am definitely noticing… Read more »

oh, this is also conjunct my progressed moon, which is ALSO about to cross my ascendant into Virgo in late August.

This is in a square to my progressed full moon. This moon wobble thing, I’m just gonna get right with the goddess.

It’s also on my sidereal ascendant. Maybe the time space continuums will line up.

Personally, I will be *shocked* if this does not coincide with either a declaration of war by or an ill health event concerning DJT. Between his Mars and Regulus being involved (Regulus is a Martial star associated with high military command i.e. the Commander in Chief), I certainly would not rule the former out even though I feel it’s more likely to be the latter. Eclipses were looked at very unfavorably in ancient times insofar as it pertains to the rulers of nations – kingdoms would even go so far as to install an expendable decoy king on the throne… Read more »

Brilliant!!! The Donald is 70 and used to getting his own way. Being president must be super frustrating compared to being a property mogul. A lot of stress for an old man and Saturn tr Moon must be depressing. Interesting that he said this week he misses his old life, in particular, driving a car. Seems to me he feels he’s not in control, not in the driving seat.

Agree, the man ain’t having a good time of it.

Again agree about the metaphor of building a wall a symbol of his physical issues. There are no smiles on his face, looks grumpy as.

I read this earlier this morning.
Your take has bounced around in my head heaps. This will be quite something; I imagine.

Plus I’d never take a job where i wouldn’t be able to drive myself let alone take a fang on a bike.

That eclipse is bang on my husband’s Leo’s Pluto-Sun cazimi, on my MC. I heard a remark on NPR that DT was ” trying to be less incompetent at his job.” And this was from the pro DT spinster. Saw a law prof at a lefty fundraiser, he’s 80ish. Said he has faith in our 18th C constitutiion and our judges. In recent U.S. Supreme Court justices grilled the daylights out of the govt attorney who drported a naturalized Serbian woman and stripped her of citizenship for lying on her visa app. The conservative justices were enraged and incredulous. Hah!… Read more »

The justices distinguished fear from danger. It’s their job. As judges.

M Trump’s circumstance is not for random conjecture, really, unless you have the capacity to know her well enough to safeguard her or to call for her peotection.

She has freedoms, means and choices that many do not, and it seems people can only understand her by making a victim out of what she appears to be in their eyes.

There is such a thing as learned helplessness which prevents victims from walking out even when the door is wide open.

I’m hoping the final piece of Russia shakes clear- but it doesn’t look like Mercury is heavily involved.
Question:
Is there a ‘tell’ 3 months before all eclipses? Or just Solar? It it an orb thing? Or what is the reasoning behind that phenomenon. Thanks!

flowerchild

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking — maybe that’s the date (or around that date) that he will finally get impeached! ‘Lights out’ for that f**ker, you know? Could be a really positive outcome, instead of an ominous one. I know, I know, the alternatives to him aren’t good either, but no one else around him, our VP or anyone else, has that ‘rancid charisma’ or ability to polarize that he has, so it would at least take the charge off things to have our blowhard frontman out of the picture. I see number prompts and in the past few… Read more »

I keep thinking of that little Eastern European woman and her predictions…

Lights out… could be much more final. There’s a lot of crazy that these Astro events inspire.

But others predict ww3 for may. So maybe we should all start prepping.

milleunanotteMM Member

Ww3 for may.

Right. Prepare yourself and your neighbours.

Do you have neighbours, or just people who live next to you?

Unicorn SparklesMM Member
Unicorn Sparkles

We have neighbours and know them all by name. All lovely and we help each other out regularly. I looked out this morning and felt very thankful to live where I do. I guess the ww3 element is being heavily talked up by media who seem to be chomping at the bit for a disaster. But Korea has followed the same sabre rattling pattern for years. It’s how they secured money via easing of sanctions. But it’s an unpleasant feeling at the moment, with hints of Cold War tensions. I ended up googling re the 1918 eclipse just to see… Read more »

Yes, it will be visible in Cali and everywhere else in the US, albeit just not *Total*. Oregon is just the path of totality – everyone in the USA is going to get a view of this thing (clear skies provided, of course).

flowerchild

Yeah, it would just be cool to see the total eclipse…..I’ll probably end up staying right here in Cali…

Ww3…..trying not to think too much about that, though wasn’t happy to see N. Korea’s video simulation of nuking San Francisco. I’d take that personally since I live here…. 😉 …..and that would not be a very nice way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love!

Fear is in the mind. Danger is in the real world. Perhaps in this Mercury Retro, we need to distinguish between fears and real dangers; to understand the difference between expressing and processing the fear, and expressing it in a way that (may inadvertently) add to fear mongering. It is important to know exactly our own circumstance. Sympathy and worry for others may not always translate into true protective action or ideas. It’s time to listen to the voices of those in danger, really listen with a view to understanding. Maybe instead of rushing in to decide how we can… Read more »
