Ask Mystic: When Should The Virgo Leap?

Filed in Ask Mystic

Vampires Kiss

Hi Mystic,

I’m wondering if there is a “good” time in the next few months for a Virgo to quit. My job doing social media for a big media company is amazing, I love the people I work with but it’s not my passion and I can’t keep faking it. I feel it’s getting closer to quitting time.

What I want is to work for myself and really launch my food blog and YouTube channel as that’s what I love… Teaching people how to cook! (Or at least that’s what I think I want. There are lots of thing I think I want but decided just to go with this one because if not I’ll sit in analysis paralysis forever).

I’m afraid that the Saturn square in November may not be the best time to quit or may be a haha you thought you had it together..but you don’t let me show you from Saturn?

With Jupiter in Virgo I’m guessing quitting is what I’m supposed to do even if it’s scary and I’ll probably sit on the floor at some point covered in flour crying and questioning everything?

When to leap?

Emily The Virgo

Dear Emily The Virgo,

You are nailing it!  As in your assessment of the situation is SO lucid and on point. It’s a particularly apt scenario for not just Virgos but all the Mutable signs at the moment. I said in the Daily Mystic email for Thursday that SO many Mutables (Virgo, Gemini, Pisces, Saggo) glided through the Zap Zone and are around about now, going ‘oh fuq’.

Because Jupiter in Virgo, Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces are forming this gigantic T-Square sort of a thing. In many cases it zaps the Mutable peeps in their most poignant places.

Like “don’t mention the…”  Whoops, it did not just get “mentioned” – it’s flame-thrown into that wall over there. Which may not be so stable after all. Add: “checking wall stability” to do list before daily existential crisis deadline.

If you can’t relate to that above paragraph, you’re probably not a Mutable sign or rising sign.

ANYWAY, Emily.  YES Jupiter operates like that. It is not just like the tycoon from Monopoly rocks up with a suitcase full of cash and your dream date, Muse or spirit guide in tow.  First Jupiter gallops around the reservation like a wild centaur, shitting on everything and getting his hooves caught on electric fencing that you did not even know was concealed in the lush green grass. Hell. You become hideously aware of limitations. And then that triggers the Jupiter rut-fuqing mode.

But Saturn square Neptune is not to be messed with. I would love to say go for it, follow your bliss, find Jupiter in the night sky and sit beneath him in your glorious nudity, clothed only sanskrit henna tattoos, make a wish and good things will happen.

But Saturn-Neptune is a bubble buster and if you even remotely subscribe to the idea that there are unreal elements of our economy/the current financial structure, this is not the time to be roaring off into self-employed cult food blogger/You Tube star land. If you do, you need solid backing, enough funds to sustain at least six months of foundationing and a coherent plan.

I think that the Jupiter-Pluto trine (Oct 2015, March 2016, June 2016) is the strongest time to launch such a venture. So you sit this out – you say the day job is ‘amazing’ – let the first square of Saturn/Neptune do its work in November and plan for the long-term. If this idea/impetus is strong in October, it’s even stronger next year when Pluto again is in sync to Jupiter in Virgo.

But nobody – especially –  the Mutable signs can discount Saturn at the moment.  Congrats on the rad candor & clarity – that’s totally Saturn in Sagittarius but scheme-scheme-scheme.

What does everyone else think?

Had a golden opportunity offered to us in July (twin & I started biz this year) and said no as felt we weren’t ready for such a massive order but could not stop
thinking this was our big break

….so have made contact again – time to crunch numbers and be ultra Saturn

Had a reading done a couple of years ago and she said I would go into business (was already working on prototypes) and it would “take off like a rocket” not straight away but early on – well I am getting strapped in!

Passion is not an occupation. It is a way of living, through times you like and times you don’t. You are a Virgo/Cap? Work your ass off. Its not meant to be your passion. As for passion, here’s a great article about it finding it: http://markmanson.net/passion

In today’s economy, it’s probably not a good idea to quit one’s job without having an alternate system of support – like a year’s wages in the bank to draw on. Your current field is particularly sensitive to being out of it for long. Even a year may be too long because social medial/marketing can change a lot in a year. And others have said, but I will repeat it: a blog and a You Tube channel can be maintained while you have a full time job. If you think that’s “too much work” then you’re probably not ready to… Read more »

Oh, and you’re clearly having a Jupiter return – consult an astrologer to see how to maximize it.

Emily, I am natal Sagg Sun/Merc in Sagg square Uranus pluto in Virgo on MC (hello Mars/ Venus/Jupe conjunction of the moment) opp Jupiter Chiron on Pisces IC, being transited by Neptune. Supposedly, now should be my big career time. What it is in fact (ie new job that coincided with Virgo eclipse and now Jupiter Mars Venus in my 10th on my Uranus Pluto square Sun) is like that scene from War Horse that I couldn’t bear to watch where brave enslaved-in-service Horse says fuq this and tries to break free in service of his ideals and finds himself… Read more »

Hi. All the people are saying all the things so all good etc. As someone who got out of the “someone pays me money to show up and do stuff then go home and not worry about it” life into no-steady-income, I’m gonna say Take a look at the money that your employer deposits into your bank account on a regular basis. Now calculate how long you can go without seeing that rolling in and keeping you in haircuts, phone bills, Friday drinks with gainfully employed friends and taxi fares. Ok. I agree with the above. Scale up your personal… Read more »

Also (this is only my experience so I am not sure if ok to extend to others) be prepared for a smattering of random people to be really weird, or just plain rude, or patronising, or “so when are you going back to your real career” about your choices. These things can sting if you doubt yourself. It reflects their own worldview and fears, this is fine, it’s all we have in life anyway. But let it bounce off that thick cap-rising hide because you LIKE what you’re doing. Don’t you? Be there for yourself 100% . And fuq those… Read more »

This is so poignant for me. Pisces Sun-Merc with a t-square to Neptune Saggo & Saturn Gemini. After a courageous career change (corporate webmaster to yoga teacher) 2 years ago, contemplating moving to another country, and dealing with my Gemini BF and all he brings to the table, I feel closer to defeat than ever. I know this too will pass but asking myself WHY have I made all these choices is wearing on me, as is the idea of having to stop just as I thought I was getting my stride. I’m confused, trembly, and tired, and annoyed I… Read more »

Yep Virgo here who is in the first year of own business and works 1-2 part time jobs – it’s kind of like have been guided into roles which help me learn skills and experience I need at each stage. I work with a great team in a complimentary industry who are really keen to help in any way! So different to the previous full time jobs …. It hasn’t been easy but it has been fun! The freedom I feel in one sense is great but the initial financial tightness is tricky at times and it may still go… Read more »

I have been feeling very similar lately. I work in Social Media as well, clients LOVE my work but are forgetting to pay now. So hard work to appease Saturn but little to no payoff.
The economy is bad and it hit small businesses and artists the hardest but I cannot pay bills on thank you alone. I wish!

Scorpio_RisingMM Member

My advice to Emily is if they pay on time stick it out until you can make that leap with a nice nest egg.
I wish you all the best!!!

Same thing has happened with my hobby. People wanna fence me in to keep it a hobby but my spare time and my resources aren’t nourished with thank yous either. And I want a more fulfilling job. I’ve even thought about splitting into 2 jobs: a technical one and another job where I move and connect more with nature -for the sake of my health. But I haven’t found the ways to manifest that.

I love the advice on here for this and this is something way more important than dating imo because dream making should be a path laid with clarity and finding clarity by creating a structure for the dream. Also, I’ve done a lot of the crash rise fall drama of this that you would expect from a former hellcat who did everything the fucking hard way. Also, not very suited to most forms of employment. Some skills arrive later 🙂 Being inspired is awesome but funding it (and you! -to actually live not exist on porridge 6 out of 7… Read more »

Have had a week from the planet oh fuq. Honestly I am not enjoying this at all, yes I get the hard work, because I work hard, but the hard work apparently needs more hard work. Saturn on Mars, opposing Sun, with Neptune square. Saturn in the 6th – teeth an ongoing issue with an abscess forming over root canal work. Ankle twisted too and can’t move with much speed, anathema for a Gemini. Neptune in the 9th – hello t-square. Trying to sort out post-grad study and proposal from one university that doesn’t dig creative artefacts as a scholarly… Read more »

Gem Mars in 7th retro square Virgo Pluto in 10th- Now transit Saturn in 1st is demanding mega admin/compliance. Rocking that-head down but eyes peeled. New Q/A and accountability. Choosing total transparency/faithful deets to show my Awesome. Zero entitlement and mega gratitude.

Reading job description and adhering to standards- hourly. Neptune opposes from 4th- so scheduling food/Kataka deets too.

Pluto squaring my Venus- no Muggles allowed.

Ah, professional disillusionment under the Saturn/Neptune square…! I suspect the “Divine Discontent” generated by this pair will have many running off into the wilderness for a vision quest in search of meaningful vocation – you’re not the first and certainly won’t be the last. Jupiter over your Sun with Neptune opposing will tend to overinflate your hopes and egg you on to just “wing” it. You need solid organization as a backbone, though, with Saturn squaring – what’s your PLAN? I’m less concerned about picking a favorable date and more concerned about your prep/planning. Forgive my going all Saturn on… Read more »

No frowny face here I welcome the feedback!! Definitely need to work on an actual plan. The blog and social channels have been picking up traction, I’ve been approached by a few “influencer” agencies. A lot of my work is with advertisers/brands and ideally I would eventually partner with some brands once the audience is there. Audience is not there so that’s what I need to work on building. I guess I should also clarify (which I didn’t in my note) that I would never quit willy nilly. I don’t think my cap rising would ever be ok with that.… Read more »

Thanks for clarifying! You’ve eased my mind a bit with the additional deets; specifically that you aren’t just panning to up and quit and will still have another source of income. But it still sounds like you need some more planning, and I would encourage you to put work in on that end before you actually give notice with your employer. Cap Rising, you say? If Pluto is anywhere near that Ascendant and/or aspecting that Midheaven, you do better to overhaul your life slowly anyway. Think: a controlled collapse or brick-by-brick demolition. Transformation is never overnight when Pluto transits Capricorn… Read more »

Great advice on pre plan over astro for this, also, my younger self would have loved this advice early on.

Saturn/ Neptune is huge in my chart right now and after this post I totally get this now I thought because it was moon and venus aspected it would be romantic but this is exactly what its about. Great reply

Timing wise re astro, I’d listen to Mystic re Saturn square Neptune’s first hit and sitting that out. This doesn’t mean you can’t start planning for next year’s J trine Pluto hits now. I spent around 4 months planning for my ‘launch’ and three years later, I’m still standing but in between then and now has been quite a journey. Worked second jobs along the way except for this year. Have made a lot of progress this year but $$$ anxiety is huge. So my hand is up to being a Mutable who glided through ZZ and about how is… Read more »

Interesting. My multi-Virgo (Moon, Sun, Jup, Merc, Sat), Pisces rising husband came home from work today telling me about a new job he wants to apply for, that he thinks he’s nearing the end of his tolerance for his current job.
Although, I think he’s in a perpetual search for his “ideal” job, which is maybe his Neptune conjunct Sag midheaven.

Very timely. My Virgo Ascendant wants to bail out of my job and creative projects and venture into new ones. My Capricorn Sun is being advised to keep health in good shape and not start anything new yet. My resolve is to keep my job while I have it, keep a tight budget, save money for my next move. Meanwhile look for good advice regarding creative projects to help them flourish.

Hello Emily, The energy you seem to be feeling inside seems to be similar to the push to give birth – in this instance to your creativity. Every “child” spends some time in the womb being nurtured so he or she can be ready to enter the world. I would suggest you go with MM’s plan. By my reckoning there’s 8 months til end of June 2016. If you hold the blueprint of what you wish to create in your heart, learn to plan and make preparations, you might find the angst about your job eases a bit. You may… Read more »

About the mutables breezing through until now. YUP! The GFF is hitting me all at once. Gave my credit card number to a USA company for free skin care samples and they have taken $400 in 4 transactions from my account unauthorised to do so. If we were drawing up Australian states now South Australia would not get a start. A state with no mining, less arable land than Victoria but larger than NSW or Texas and relies on the turgid poisoned water of the Eastern states to get drinking water would be rejected in the first round. This is hard for the Capricorn state. Don Dunstan must be crying somewhere.

But go the Crows.

Wahey Mystic for saying what needs to be said! Utterly brilliant takedown of “zen manifestation magic realism” – not to say there ain’t a place for that too. Just. It’s Saturn. If you can make a brilliant plan, do. My life has changed in radical awesome ways in the last 6 months & I’m finally getting to taste the fruits of Zap Zone misery followed by purgatory followed by finally seeing that for me, I actually can’t make money UNLESS I pursue my creative bliss.
