The 2nd House in Astrology is your $$$ sector. It reveals your natural wealth quotient. Are you a resourceful enterpriser or mindfully frugal?
(If you don’t know what sign or planets are in your 2nd House, consider getting one of my Astral DNA birth chart reports.)
The 2nd House of your chart is known as the House of Earned Income – as opposed to the 8th house which can be money that you attract via less official channels. The 2nd House is what you work for. That’s in comparison to the 8th House which signifies what lucre conjured up via strong financial Qi or acquired via other people. Eg; an advantageous marriage or an inheritance.
The 2nd House shows off your attitude toward money and material possessions as well as your sense of self-assurance.
Some examples: Someone may be a super-cautious & canny Capricorn, but if they’ve got Leo lurking in the 2nd House, they like things to be done ‘right.’ And ‘right’ naturally means costly. Or as they would say, ‘artisan’. Or ‘timeless quality.’ Their Capricorn ‘on sale or no sale’ mentality clashes with the Leo respect for ‘design values.’
Pisces in the 2nd House can be an extreme minimalist. Things come in and things go out, like the tide. Their financial strategy? Osmosis. Money is metaphysics and they’re quantum physicists with it. It works when it works but is a poor blend with any form of gambling tendencies.
The 2nd House In Astrology Reveals Your Money Consciousness
But it is not just the sign in the 2nd House that matter. It’s also the inhabitants. Saturn here is the classic challenged-by-money placement. Yet remember that your Saturn area gets buffed and buffed via loads of work and angsting till finally, it becomes your shiniest area. Saturn in the 2nd House can clobber people in early youth; endless money problems and weird experiences around finances that most people don’t seem to have. But they eventually alchemise it into a particularly wise form of wealth, winning in the long-run.
Venus & Jupiter in the 2nd House blesses people with the ability to apparently invent money. They’re not counterfeiters but it’s like they walk out the door and bam: a prosperous idea, encounter or offer. Venus/Jupiter in the 2nd trots into garage sales & comes out clutching the actual valuable antique. Or gets a massive crush on some artist at uni who gives them their etchings/early compositions & voila, they’re worth heaps at a later date.
People can make money by following the attributes of their 2nd House sign or planet. Don’t worry if there is no planet there – it just means it’s money is not that important to you.

Mercury in The Second House
Mercury is the God of Currency and of Merchants – the word “mercantile” comes from Mercury. They can be cash-canny beyond belief, keeping their subjective emotions out of the lucre realm. They successfully play markets, pull off fab financial hacks and score epic deals without – it seems – even trying. Their consciousness around money is light-speedy and never stuck. Their words or opinion can be lucrative.
