Style Your Ascendent: Leo Rising

Filed in Zodiac Fashion

Jessica Alba Selena Gomez Reese Witherspoon

How To Dress When You Are Leo Rising?

It is an astrological fact that you ideally look like your ascendant. A.k.a. your rising sign. Unsure of your Rising Sign? Get an Astral DNA for my unique, non-cliche and supportive take on your whole natal birth chart.

So if you are – say – a stealth Scorpio with Leo Rising, it’s auspicious to LOOK Leo. Even if your Scorpionic psyche shrivels at the mere thought of big hair, bling and a 20-meter radius ostentatious entitlement scent from a designer/model/celebrity you feel a psychological affinity with.

So other than current Hollywood A-Lister status and marketability, what do Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez, and Reese Witherspoon have in common? Yes, you guessed it, a Leo Ascendant. Leo Rising LOVES being photographed and IS photogenic.

Leo Rising means you don’t hesitate to go back to baseline teeth, tits, tan if the occasion warrants it.  The men too.

hulk-hogan

Hulk Hogan may be an extreme example, but the fact remains: Leo Rising looks good golden. They are Sun-ruled after all.

Their style motto:  More Is More, Leo Rising knows that life is too short to be subtle. And they do not even suit subtle. A Leo Rising trying to slink around in “neutrals” is a travesty. Even at the supermarket – they need to say “I am here – I have arrived – look at me.”

To Leo Rising, being exhibitionist is just good manners. Grooming is a spiritual Tao. And a tax deduction. Because a ludicrous amount of Leo Rising people make a living out of looking on point and living larger than most.  Eg; Jennifer Lopez – Leo Sun, Lilith, Mercury, and Rising.

Jennifer Lopez

Leo Rising can pull off any look so long as it is over the top and they get to be super theatrically animated with all attention on them.  A la Gemini Sun/Moon Leo Rising Heidi Klum.

Heidi Klum

Other than teeth-tits-tan, the most vital aspect of styling for Leo Rising is, of course, HAIR.  It needs to be a thing.  If there is an advance in hair science, Leo Rising will know about it.  Of course, compulsive obsessive hair can sometimes create blowback – eg; Donald Trump, another Gemini with this rising sign.

donald-trump-bad-hair-photo-1

Clothing wise, the females are fond of a show-stopper, heart-attack in chiffon, instant envy inducing fuq-off-I-won frock. Kate Moss underwrites her Leo Rising glam with a fierce Earth sign work ethic.

Kate Moss

It is also probably the only ascendent that can pull off the cape without irony.  See Celine Dion…

CelineDion_concert

And Freddie Mercury.

Queen's Freddie Mercury in 1982

Some rising signs shun bling, too many trappings and whatever feels like excess – not our Leo Rising. Both Charles and Camilla have this Ascendant. How they must covet that actual monarchy.

Prince-Charles-and-Camilla

Layer it on. They can take a lot of EXTRA. Remember, more is more.

They have a strange affinity with the burlesque era – probably the high heels and fishnets – but also the basic psychic setting of Leo Rising is the show must go on. Tina Fey is another Lilith Rising in Leo – like Lopez and also…

tinafey

Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe Dancing

They turn being photogenic into a strange spiritual juju. They’re poseurs but it goes deeper than that.

When styling/making up/choosing a vibe, they can safely think “feline” for best results. The languid, scented, highly groomed and chilled but potentially incredibly dangerous look is totally them.

Kirsten Dunst – Moon in Leo Rising – demonstrates an excellent idea for Leo Rising – have your hair perfected to exact match Lion’s mane. Add tawny to the teeth-tan-tits triptych.

Kirsten Dunst

I just watched the second series of The Fall on netflix and guessed Gillian Anderson as a Leo (yay, I’m getting better at this), she’s another Leo sun + Leo ascendant. The clincher for me was her nose, I don’t know why but somehow that really fine but strong nose screamed Leo (ascendant I guess since we are talking about appearance). She has to do a lot of things really slowly in this series, move, talk, react, there are so many long takes with people just looking at each other and only saying a little, it could have been awful… Read more »

Waht I wouldn’t give to have Leo rising! I have almost no fire in my chart, and that would’ve really balanced out all my introverted airiness. Ah well…i rather enjoy my oddball vibe that comes with Aqua rising. Can’t wait to read THAT one. Also, sadly, I just can’t look at Reese W the same way after I read that she meanly refused to be photographed with uber-funny and awesome and sweet Melissa McCarthy at a Glamour women event. I mean….jeez. Reese thought it would bring down her image. Catty bitch. She does that all on her own with the… Read more »

PS.

Beauty Tips are like Magic Tricks to Leo Rising Peeps.

Here’s one from Steve Tyler: use two hairdryers at the same time, not one.

I can handle three at a time myself. Mane Magic.

One of my dear friends is Leo with Leo Rising.

He fondly recalls meeting Prince Charles at a Palace Garden Party in the 80s.

He was struck ineffably by how Golden the Bonny Prince looked in the flesh.

My friend swore to remain perma-tanned henceforth himself.

not leo rising, and proud of being sagg rising (and sun/venus leo), but i AM actually envious of leo rising peeps. rrrawr. for some reason cameras trip me up. i get embarrassed when i feel like i am “trying” to look good for the camera. but of course i want to be captured looking as babely as i know i am!

LOVE this post and ALL of the ones in this series. so bang-on with the photos and everything, mm!

I mean K Middleton. Wow I didn’t realise that they shared initials…..See, now i’m really convinced she’s manufactured. They’ve even given her queen Kate’s initials so that unconsciously the muggle masses would accept her. But she ain’t foolin us.

Did you know that Ralph Lauren now has a Middleton Jacket. Its like a tweed hunting jacket that you wear to the library vibe. I no longer buy clothes from that brand. Middleton Jacket Indeed. And I agree. I’ve always suspected she was a cyborg. Or manufactured in a laboratory. When I first saw her and read about the romance and how strategic and cool she played it, I thought “how odd for someone so young and in love to be so – strategic” I imagine she has the brain of the female protagonist in Gone Girl. Ok and this is fairly, no completely unrelated to astrology. Besides my claim to Leo (attention hogging rights) Venus in Leo and I do feel that the moon being in Aquarius today helped me muster up the required level of So What? detachment to not get nervous until 20 minutes before leaving and even then I handled it ok. Didn’t change into anything silly, didn’t cancel but just felt all the awkwardness of getting out of my comfort zone (1) and travelling way, way, way north to Primrose Hill by tube. Jokerman

And ya Venus/Mars too.
I could imagine Sun/Venus in Leo would like Harleys and convertibles.
My Venus in Virgo does not understand cars with their roof ‘engineered’ away. Nor bikes without steering geometry. My Virgo/2H stellium demand efficiency in power, roadholding and braking.

WTF is styling anyway.

InvictaMM Member

My progressed venus is in Virgo and with my Virgo, sun, mars and moon there is no way to beat efficacy.
Forget stylish, its a motorcycle.
When I drove, I did love a convertible sports car but I was a completely different person back then.
Safety first, always.

hey you asked what is styling. I offered an answer 😛 Note, three famous Italian car manufacturers vs one german car that displays any sexy form whatsoever. This coming from someone who has a crush on vintage mercedes so i am shooting an own goal here. also saw a vintage porsche on-road the other day, gorgeous.. but for pure timeless racy appeal in most aspects of design? Italians. ferrari has never gone downmarket. except for that one time where they decided to make a four door to ‘comfortably seat adults and ski gear.. ‘ kid you not..now that’s porsche territory

If l recall Pi, you have Venus in Ram and my Venus is in Anal-ytical, l mean Virgo. I refer to the Bauhaus dictum again, “Form follows Function”. The German auto industry is thriving and the Italian one is surviving on Deutsche largesse.

I am normcore in everything l do. German n French, esp Als/Lor, fit my bill.

Jokerman

That Panamera is a SHOCKER. Blame VW for that. Ducati n Lambo owned by VW which effectively own Audi n Porsche as well. My priority is “How well does it work?”. Styling / looks is a bonus. I’d take a brand new 504 over a Ferrari anyday.

Ferrari. But they needed Germans to build their cars. Also MBenz pulled out for many years after an accident killed about 80 in the crowd. But we all know the Germans are taking over the Italian Car n Bike industry as well as the whole country of Greece.

But lm more into RallyCars and the greatest there is Peugeot & their derivatives, Citroen. In fact Peugeot have won more races than any other make. My Uran infused chart allows me to make such statements.

If there was one superficial gift I wish that I had (other than to look 27 forever and knowing how to make lots of money) it might be to look fantastic in photos. Mystic is right , the Leo talent for doing this perfectly. I was just reading about marilyn’s innate ability to arrange herself in a photo just so. My hair is my super power. I totally get that.

It just occured to me that poseurs might mean something different outside of the u.s. Or it might have an updated meaning among Millenial hipsters. Back in the day in the u.s. It means you are a try-hard faker and is a big insult. It was the guy with the fake nose ring and temporary tattoos going to the club with clothes bought from hot topic. THAT image of J.Lo… All of that male, sexual attention she is commanding on her carefully orchistrated body, movement, grooming, hair, style; that is her nirvana. The look on her face, she is at peace.

Yeah…leo moon conjunct mercury Leo in 9th and saggi rising. I’m all big hair glam. Work in the beauty industry. The sagg definitely makes me also a bit boho, but my sun is Virgo which is a never ending mystery to me.

I mean surely all that fire trumps the earth. Although I’m also northnode cappy & mars in Taurus. I’m trying so hard to understand it all, 😀 anyways I relate most to Leo. I’ve also got triple planets in Libra conjunct so I think that explains the glam/beauty obsession. I’ve got so much hair product, skincare & makeup it needs its own room.

I am a Sextuple Taurean (Sun/Rising/Mercury/Mars/Venus/Chiron) and this post (exempt the hair) pretty much sums me to a “t’. BUT, the delight of ‘showing off’ is not for others but my own damn amusement. I walk around this city one day in a body-hugging dress that shows off the 40-32-40 curves and gives heart attacks and than the next day walks around with leather garters over fitted pants looking like Laura Craft just left the S&M club. Than you’ll see me next week wearing a Victorian ruffled blouse, fitted pants, knee-high boots rocking a top-hat, cape and walking stick. Exempt… Read more »

Oh, nix the whole tan and tits vibe either. But pretty much yes to all the exhibitionist ish.

I remember talking to someone on here about narcissists awhile back and decided to do a self test to see if I was. I polled 17 (JUST below) but in the results it DID say my exhibitionist side was extreme, lol.

I’m only an exhibitionist on the internet.
IRL I’m a loner and a recluse.
To me the internet IS more real than real life almost.

I’m currently working for a creative ensemble whose director is SUCH a prude. I have been pulled aside and turned to ‘tone it down’ and it literally has me depressed and sick – the repression and suppression is super bad for moi. I am trying in this moment to transmute it all because I have another 3 months of this shit left, lol.

I am also a 12th house moon and this is me. Maybe that’s why we get each other.

FYI Kirsten, Jessica, Tina Fay are all Natal Sun Taureans. Considering how many Mavericks and exhibitionists are Taurean I do think we may be on par with the Lions to see which – cat or bull – has the biggest, ahem, ‘cajones’, lol.

Venus in Leo in the 8th. In my early teenage years I’d read the virgo sun sign horoscopes in Vogue or similar publications, descriptions of my “modesty” and “neatness” and shake my head in disbelief. They couldn’t possibly be talking about me. Then a friend or colleague of my moms told me I was aqua rising, based on my birth time but she was not very knowledgable about astro, it was merely an amusement. I took it seriously though because I wanted to believe there was some validity to astrology and the “age of aquarius” vibe was something I could… Read more »

Yeah well, that Aquarian ruled Eros and Psyche in the 9th explained a LOT about my romantic preferences (not to mention the Sagg ruled 7th). But the Draconic version was INSANE!!! I would love to learn more about draconic…

Yes, Kimmy did a Draconic reading for me. It was INSANELY GREAT.
I don’t know why the draconic is so spot on but it just is.

Sekhmet help me, both children are Leo rising…the drama to get to the hairdresser….the outfit for the day / evening has to be just right, the self approving nod and grin to mirrors…. Is a strong sense of protectiveness to others a trait of Leo rising too ? And a roar that could shatter the veins in ones temples ? It was many moons here on this site that i received some fabo advice re future hair products being used in this household, it was from Uber Virgo, ‘Tell them it’ll make their hair fall out” …. filed away Thanks… Read more »

I can remember imitating Feres Trabilsie (& Graham Kerrr) as kid. My mum’s friends would ask me to do them.

The protectiveness, is Leo valour maybe. The integrity of the individual extends to respecting the integrity of others? Haute Leo.

Yes, I agree with this. Leo ferociously protects the underdog, and what is theirs. My family are all protective of each other, despite our differences. The Pride comes first.

Yeah sometimes to the point of almost (or actually) getting in trouble for being a hyper-protective, do-gooder. Leo y Leo rising sometimes have a hard time getting their due respect in this crazy mixed up world.

Ummm I just wanted to let you know I almost typed the word “peons” several times but my haute Leo stopped me.
