Jupiter Uranian

So who says the Jupiter Uranus trine – in play since last September  – can’t deliver?  Justice Anthony Kennedy, a Cancerian of the Pluto in Cancer generation and Mars also in Kataka currently being opposed by Pluto) delivered the decision:

“No longer may this liberty be denied,” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the majority in the historic decision. “No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.”

Marriage is a “keystone of our social order,” Justice Kennedy said, adding that the plaintiffs in the case were seeking “equal dignity in the eyes of the law.”

This is the chart of the moment – Jupiter-Uranus all OVER it.  Saturn too. Liberty, progress and a shift within establishment values.

Sure, a true Uranian would argue that marriage is the most precious of unions or even the keystone of social order BUT that is should be equally available to all is clearly obvious and now blatantly supported by (a) a majority and (b) people at the “highest” echelons of old guard society.

On a somewhat related note, I just bought my first legal cannabis products, in Washington State. It becomes legal here in Oregon on Wednesday. Talk about a shift in establishment values! Never thought I’d see the day I could look at a cannabis menu outside Amsterdam.

It’s very exciting in terms of what mj can do for our environment and medicinally. I have epilepsy and there are so many people who are responsive to cannabis oil for that condition. I found them legalising mj really shocking actually, more shocking than the legalising of people who want to marry!

Dear Mystic,

Some people are saying that Australia could have marriage equality by the end of the year… Others say Tony Abbott won’t let it… Curious iif the scopes say anything about that possibility?

The state has a vested interest in ensuring children are produced – so that the state may continue, marriage facilitates the production of children. Beyond that the state has no interest in officially recognising unions that fall outside this narrow focus – even less so now than in the past as orthodox religions and their influence are waning. To declare the judges decision as momentous is utterly ludicrous, the decision only proves that the state is becoming more and more powerful – our lives less and less private. It’s amazing how most people these days more and more resemble sheep… Read more »

Are you trying to say that Kali Yuga is in evidence in that the legal rights of the gay community are recognised in terms of relationships? That’s not very kind if so.

You might think you’re smart making all these ‘connections’ but to me you just look like a mean-spirited person who is incapable of being happy for other people. If this comes to pass in Australia I have a lot of friends who will have the choice to decide whether to get married or not. Whether they choose to or not will be up to them. This may not be of value to you but you probably have that choice already. Check your privilege.

Uneducated. The state legalizes marriage between infertile couples every day!!!! Because of medical reasons or advanced age. These marriages are still legal, still meaningful. If marriage was solely about children no women could marry after menopause and no man who was sterile. Get factual not hateful.

yes. I have been re-reading the comment again from above. about 10 days makes a point, which is that the state perhaps historically was not politically vested in activities that did not boost its numbers/size by way of population growth among other things. Hence the ongoing, fervent desire to control the uteruses on the planet, which happen to be housed in women’s bodies (and these bodies also house minds that carry their own pesky wilfulness). But if this (marriage is good, breeding is good, but only the State can determine who is a legitimate human being, via our laws and… Read more »

Now that the US has seen the light, maybe Australia (or rather Tony Abbott) will wake the %#€£¥ up???

If the US okays marriage equality, I mean, I’m sure Tones can finally find it in his Catholic-compromised heart to see beyond his usual 1850s ‘edge’.

Even if the man does not have an original thought in his head, it’s only logical that if we can follow the US into war, surely we can follow them into progressive-mindedness?

Time for Australia to at least move into the 1900s.

skarab

Yes, and as strange as it may sound, Spain – with its supposedly “Catholic-compromised heart” (if ever there was one), legalised same sex marriages exactly 10 yrs ago, with not too much of a prob. So i don’t know if religion is always the only excuse – even tho it does seem to be behind most ills.

Tones doesn’t have a heart. He just has a little hole in his chest where he keeps his privilege, a pair of budgie smugglers and a copy of Little Women. Oh and a picture of the Queen. And he’s only Catholic when it suits his patriarchal view of societal order, but when the Pope goes green… awkward!!

I was Googling Sekhmet (as you do round midnight on a Saturday night and I found this random clip on Amazon which I thought so epitomised the Uranian/Jupitarian/Venus in Leo astro vibe right now. This is more than legally tying the knot. It’s huge for same sex families, where both partners can be recognized as parents of their children (very important in emergency situations, for instance– consent to treat and all), as well as estate matters (when one spouse dies) and all those other legal conveniences that married couples share. Just to name a few things. It’s stability for same sex couples/families. About time!

Yes, this ruling brings very concrete benefits for same-sex couples. In addition to the ones you mentioned, they can now sponsor their husband/wife for immigration benefits, apply for housing assistance if in a low-income family, have immunity from testifying against a spouse, have family visitation rights such as a visit to a spouse in the hospital or prison, etc.

Our world isn’t perfect, but it became a little more humane on Friday. As I heard several times this weekend, there’s no longer “gay marriage” in the U.S., it’s just marriage now.

I always secretly felt distain for people who got excited about weddings and marriage proposals. That whole “the big day” thing, the dress and all the strange rituals that go with it just repulsed me to my core. I class them with christmas trees and Ronald McDonnald. Scary and just not my scene. sphinxMM Member

Yes, I value the happy energies and joy this will bring to others. That is real and gorgeous. But “love won” is a joke. This was a cynical attempt to distract people from the TPP. Yay, I can get married, but at the expense of the fact that AIDs drugs will now cost twice as much and owning garden seeds is a criminal act. Yay, my love is recognised by the a legal system that is so corrupt that multinational corporations can now challenge the government and the law for their profit loss! And I realise that no one is rallying about the TPP and probably wouldn’t have, but it’s a poisoned chalice that was offered in a way and that makes it hard to celebrate. In a way it feels like we are all Nero playing the violin while Rome burns.
That the astro can work either way to examine this scene is actually super interesting though.

So agree about the TPP, cementing corporate’s rights above rights of states to legislate, it is a horrifying vision of dystopia and it’s coming like a steam train. And the poorest countries will suffer the most, subsistence agriculture with Monsanto taking it’s fuqing huge cut. Ugghh. We don’t have marriage equality in oz at the moment. That is interesting re marriage having a seeming ‘sedative’ effect, I think that it there will be riots anyway once the tpp is fully in swing and the economy is ripped apart by these traitors to the people. But apart from as a timely distraction (and leaving aside the amazing benefits to so many!) we all have to PAY a fee to have a marriage licence from the state. just to clarify, i agree that the tpp and its t-brethren are possibly the worst thing ever. there’s just a sense of powerless and futility – from seattle to occupy to keystone, protest pretty much uniformly fails, “representatives” are bought and sold, and the power of monsanto and friends grows every day. Nero fiddles away.
what way out of this?

sphinxMM Member

Good question and I totally get you know about the tpp being the worst thing ever..
No f-cking idea. Petitions, rallies etc don’t work, voting don’t work. Maybe mass group meditation intending change instead of rallies? Being super aware and educating each other is important because they start taking away social media and internet freedom next, so it gets harder and harder to communicate and learn freely. Think global act local? In meditation I mainly get that being cheery in the case of adversity is our lot. What do you think, you have any ideas?

Justice Kennedy’s words were so beautiful. I don’t agree with some of his decisions, like during Citizens United, he stated: “We now conclude that independent expenditures, including those made by corporations, do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption.”

However, yesterday, he got it right 🙂

Hate to burst your bubble of ignorance, but there are plenty of homosexual couples where one of them is transgender, meaning that they /can/ reproduce without any assistance. Not that I think you have a healthy/compassionate/realistic view of trans people, but I figure I’d point this out for anyone who may not have realised that not all gay people are cisgender.

P.S. Who let the muggle in? (Not that I have a problem with muggles, just the ones who are fully committed to their ignorance.)

Not so much a muggle perhaps as a cold and lonely one, who misplaces his/her heart and instead uses his/her head, full of others people’s ideas, quite often exclusively, to communicate. Very commonly found to be raising such comments, all over the Internet.
Great time to come from the heart, everyone. There’s enough darkness out there already.

Not all heteros want or have children. Should we deny them marriage if they do not? I think I am a better and more whole person because of my children, but would never deny heteros who do not want children the same rights as me.

Two important legal victories. Less glam but important for everyone- the USSC decision upholding the tax credit/subsidies for health care in states that don’t have their own exchange. In my state over 228,000 peeps would have lost health care coverage, In North Carolina, one judge shut down the clerk’s office so no one could marry. Ironic that straight peeps would have to travel to take their vows. Still hearing grumbles and rumbled about states’ rights and the will of the people. “All this decision proves is gays are more psychologically flawed” This makes no sense at all. How the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States proves anything about the psychological state of a wide swath of the population is utterly beyond me.
