The Seventies WAS Neptune in Sagittarius

Grace Jones in Disco Mode

People, the Seventies WAS Neptune in Sagittarius.  One of the most massive surges of Sagittarius style ever.   Neptune sets the cultural scene and Neptune in Sagittarius from November 1970 until 1984 gave us SO many Saggo style memes.

The glitter – you may think that is Leo but glitter is SAGG – you know how they love a costume party. Disco & clubbing…

Bianca Jagger White Horse

Mass market pulp self-help books that everyone HAD to read at the same time to be with it dude.

zencover2

Skateboarding as wind-in-hair expression of pure free spirits.

Farrah-Fawcett-Workout-Routine

Yes it was the 1960s Zap Zone (Uranus conjunct Pluto) that gave us the Pill, the beginning of gay equality, liberation from trad sex roles and all but it was the Seventies, when Neptune was in Sagittarius that really got going with the freedom vibe. EVERYONE was out there partying like a Sagittarius.

Joan Jett Chjrissie Hynde

So what is YOUR fave Neptune in Sagittarius vibe, vid or image.

This oceanic party-zone is generally true for many countries, but spare a thought for South America, where brutal military dictatorships reigned. That was when the noun “disappear” became a verb; thousands of dissidents were disappeared. In Argentina, when torture did not yield any more information, political prisoners were drugged, put into airplanes, and dropped, alive, into the ocean … as shown in the film “Garage Olimpo”. Media misinformation became a pandemic, especially in Chile. Spies infiltrated everywhere. When secret archives discovered in Paraguay and de-classified CIA documents were finally made public, the Cold War rhetoric was turned upside-down. It was… Read more »

Born in 1973 sag rising conjunct neptune in sagg. This is so me.

My first loves by the time I was 4 years of age was Blondie, Heart, and Neal Young. My parents were boho musicians, so I grew up in a hippie house full of artistic types.

Monkey Magic – at the behest of Buddha a monkey, pig and fish spirit (and a dragon-turned-horse) incarnate in human form in order to accompany a monk (played by a woman) on an epic trek across the Himalaya to retrieve sacred scrolls and bring the dharma back to China…. eastern spirituality in super garish costume, with trippy camera effects and electronic music.

Very subversive of the ABC to programme this in the after school kiddies time slot 🙂 -probably the most important influence on my understanding of the world…

I know, i know – some people are now grown weary of Bob Marley. Yes – he’s still being played to death in every guesthouse around the globe and served with banana pancakes – but he has to be the Neptune/Sagg combo vibe person of the 70s: Pisces Sun, Sagg Rising, with Neptune conjunct Jupe in 10th. I mean, come ON! Spreading his take on (One) love, redemption and the spiritual attributes of weed, in perfect anthems.

I’m partial to Lawyers, Guns, and Money by Warren Zevon. But that is about times slightly pre- Saturn in Sag. Saturn is when dad is like “absolutely not” and the protagonist has to get out of his international incident alone.

Right when my family was discussing putting me in a nursing home I decided that Iwould need to save myself . How I did this was I created a character version of myself that was living out my dreams. One of the first Vision quests i did was traveling to 1978, new york when it was still seedy and amazing. I was clubbing. I met grace Jones and was holding a champagne bottle in my hand. I stood on a table. Performance ensued. Sex and drugs held no deadly power in that room yet. I became omnipotent. Seems like it… Read more »

I think even in the late seventies, especially because I would have consumed heavy, pure drugs, Davids Byrnes and I would have fought. We’d respect each other, but there would be me being over flamboyant and him being all subdued and structured. He’d be right but I’d be dancing.

I was born in 77 to religious parents, so unfortunately I was not exposed to popular tv/movies much. I’ve got a neptune moon conjunction, which prolly everyone knows by now with how much I mention it. My kids are on a long long leash – we bought a house in the woods surrounded by a preserve so we can kick them out of the house to play outside like feral children. We let them try and discover things without hovering over their every move or signing them up for endless structured activities. My kids will learn to be themselves and… Read more »

Yes!! This post is so timely… I just downloaded a f-ton of 70s sounding musak (some of it actually WAS from the 70s, but more of it is actually made in the past three years) this weekend. I was attributing my 70s lust to the Guardians of the Galaxy sound track, particularly the opening number with StarLord grooving to Redbone’s Come and Get Your Love, but is it acually Saturn in Saggo?!

Starlord MUST be a Saggo, no?! Undeniably!

I am a child of the ’70s, and I love all the music, but what spoke to me most profoundly was the Mary Tyler Moore Show. I remember as a very small girl watching those opening credits and feeling the exuberance, the independence, the joy of making your own way in the world. Even then I knew my stay-at-home housewife mum was bored, stifled, resentful and angry and I remember very early on deciding I’d rather be Mary Richards than my mum.

I relate to this Chrysalis. I think that this show and that feeling it induced, that you describe of exuberance at making your own way in the world (along with the Superman tv series, much earlier) is what motivated me to begin studying journalism back then.

Early electronica including Sexy car crash songs!

Later covered by the most amazing Grace Jones (great pic of her ). As a teenager I really wanted to rock a flat top like her 80s incarnation but I can’t do angular and I can’t do sparkle. I just looked her up and she’s Toro but jupiter and Sagg. Marvellous. She and Blondie, such brilliant women of the 70s and on.

You need to get out more (if, as you say, music started for you in the 80’s)
But then again lm an arrogant ass when it comes to music. A Watery Asc trine Nep & (an intense) Mars/Pluto appreciation of music, defended by my Aries SN, makes me an obnoxious imperialist when it comes to music snobbery.
My fellow Aqua Moons of Neil Young, Kate Bush, John Lennon and Cat Stevens were all 70s icons.

What I loved about the 70s and the Neptune in Sag vibe was that you could dream of a place, stick your thumb out, and someone would give you a ride. You could hitch-hike everywhere to anywhere. Free and *spontaneous* travel, and meeting people along the road was a buzz. I’ve met more perverts and dangerous humans on public transport than when hitch-hiking a whole decade.

It seems to have fitted my Merc/Uran Leo cjunct, Aqua Moon and Aries SN very compatibly. I did the most outrageous smoke inspired antics. Rundle Mall and the Festival Theatre never knew what hit. Outrunning the law in VW Beetle a specialty.

The worst of it was the disco music; paint by numbers muzak. Give me Young, Lennon, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin & Supertramp anyday.
Bucks Fizz and The Knack killed the decade.

Live and let live, as long as it didn’t affect anyone else. The current climate is do as I do and go with the herd or suffer the consequences. I hate it. I hated complying when I was a teen in the seventies. I hate it now as a 50 year old in the noughties. Or, which era are we now anyway? I don’t think I’ve heard a term for the teen decades actually.

The 70’s were my teen years. Omg we were free. And omg lots of people just indulged on their innocence till they were totally screwed. Indulgence was the underlying message of the ‘new age’ at that time. Problem was safety nets in society weren’t established for the consequences of 70s indulgence.

So we had to have the new ‘new age’. With the total opposite message. Stop partying, stop polluting stop taking drugs stop having unprotected sex, just stop….start looking a certain way, start thinking this way , start making money…

I was born in 77, so I only got the tail end of this one. But I used to belong to a cave club (exploring caves) and most of the members were teenagers in the 70’s. Damn those people could party. On weekend trips, they would build huge fires and have naked fire jumping. There was also at least one person who played a guitar and everyone would sing along. They were also super open minded and smart. Good times.

Ohio Players, War, Maude – oh, my favorite decade was DOPE.

Both Grace Jones and Bea Arthur are epic Taurean icons to moi. I was born at the tail end but if past lives DO exists I was living it UP in the seventies – I am an eternal funkchild. I had to, simply had to be at those Funkadelic, Minnie Riperton, Bootsy Collins, Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin concerts. Led Zeppelin.

Fire was my fave song from the 70s.I have venus in Sag, Sag MH, and 9th house stellium so I am all about Sag and my ruler is Leo so I love fire! Changes was a close second. As an Aquarius rising with transiting Uranus conjunct my Scorpio sun, you can see why!
