I basically have every book on Kindle but THIS one is in actual literal book form, because it is like a talisman. You can read it all the way through and feel strength pouring into you or just open a page at random, oracle style. Like a fiercer version of the I-Ching.
I mentioned Marcus Aurelius – the last of the so-called five “good Emperors” of Ancient Rome – back at the beginning of the Zap Zone, because i thought his writings on accessing your inner power SO relevant to the times. And now it is the end of the Zap Zone and Marcus is still relevant because he is ALWAYS damn relevant.
Who does not – on occasion or every day even – need to draw on inner power and stoic philosophy? Marcus IS the Law Of Awesome.
You don’t read Marcus Aurelius Meditations when you want fluffy comfort – you read Marcus Aurelius Meditations when you want to power up into getting your Awesome on.
He was Sun-Mars-Mercury in Taurus, Moon in Capricorn Rising squared by Pluto in Aries and trined by Uranus in Virgo. He had Saturn on the North Node in Cancer, sign of the Emperor in Tarot.
Marcus Aurelius – a hugely popular Emperor – was a devout Pagan. His place of worship was the Temple of Jupiter. FYI his Jupiter was in Scorpio and the 10th House, a classic signifier of someone whose words or creations endure beyond their lifetime and who has the love of the masses.
If i could personally give every single person doing it hard with a Saturn Transit a copy of this book, i literally would. If were Empress it would be compulsory. The government would distribute.
So i just opened some pages of my book at random – as a sort of bibliomancy for this post Eclipse Dark Moon – and here is what i got.
“Operatics, combat and confusion. Sloth and servility. Every day they blot out those sacred principles of yours – which you day dream thoughtlessly about or just let slide. Your actions and perceptions need to aim:
– at accomplishing practical ends
– at the exercise of thought
– at maintaining a confidence founded on understanding. An unobtrusive confidence, hidden in plain sight.”
“Enough of this wretched, whining monkey life. What’s the matter? Is any of this new? What is it you find surprising?
The purpose? Look at it.
The material? Look at that.
That’s all there is.
And the gods? Well, you could try being simpler, gentler. Even now.
A hundred years or three….No difference.”
“What am I doing with my soul?
Interrogate yourself, to find out what inhabits your so-called mind and what kind of soul you have now. A child’s soul, an adolescents, a woman’s, A tyrant’s soul? The soul of a predator- or it’s prey?”
“Maintain constant awareness that everything is born from change. The knowledge that there is nothing nature loves more than to alter what exists and make new things like it. All that exists is the seed of what will emerge from it. You think the only seeds are the ones that makes plants or children? Go deeper.”
