I Am Gemini – Therefore I Enigmatically Smirk

Filed in GEMINI

Vintage Movie Star PerfumeSo i saw this pic and thought utter Gemini and indeed she is…Or was. Jeanette Macdonald was a multiple Gemini star of stage & screen in Golden Hollywood, huge in her day.

Seriously, how classically Gemini/Mercurial is this pic? That little half smile and expression like she is harboring some outrageous gossip or a very funny joke is Gem to the max.

Of course, for the ultimate in enigmatic smirks, we cannot go past the Mona Lisa, right? Another Gemini. See The Mona Lisa Is A Gemini.

If you are a Gemini, do tell – do you cultivate this sort of an expression or is it au naturel?

I love this post! That’s one of my favorite expressions! Meaning, when I make that expression I feel great. And it IS a cosmic kinda knowing Gemini grin. “Yeah, (smile twinkle) I know.”

From experience, often accused of smirking and harboring some undisclosed secret observances my whole life( mostly true,) with Sun, Moon, and Mars in Gemini in my 10th house Natally- Yes!

Hi Mystic, off topic but Mercurial question:

Did you ever find out the sign of the punctuation hero?

Or was he too Catholic to comment?

Scorpbot
Scorpbot

I’m curious to know as well, but I bet it’s something we’re not expecting. For instance the Saggo dude (karmic something) is a great writer and obsessed with spelling and punctuation. Even when he’s texting he’ll spell out the full word – no abbreviations EVER! and he falls into the Gen Y category. Before I found out his rising sign I was convinced it would be Virgo, not more Sagg πŸ™ . There was something so Virgo about him. Turns out it was his Moon in Toro in the 6th house that gave him a Virgo flavour. He also has… Read more »

I can’t bring myself to abbreviate when texting EVER. Also receiving text or emails with abbreviated words is an instant turn off and deal breaker for me. I’m trying to losen up, but only because its a bastard trying to type on an iPad! (Merc in cappy too, but I was born hyperlexic, so it might be more a disorder than an astrological thing, I don’t know…).

These things really do bother me, but I have learned to cover it up. My Gem learned English from parents who weren’t native speakers & is a tech type anyway. Plus most of my travelling friends as a group would be diagnosed with ADHD, OCD & dyslexia. That’s why they don’t fit and why they travel.
I looked up Hyperlexia, I can’t believe that you are socially awkward or have trouble with spoken language though Saturnalien! πŸ™‚ SN in Gem here, maybe that is the reason for the interest in the above post.

If you knew me as a child and teen you’d believe it. I’ve just had to harden the fuq up, adapt and get over it in order to survive life. (It wasn’t diagnosed until my mid 30’s)

Toro Sun, Moon and Mars…but Gem rising and the smirk is natural. Unless it’s full-on teeth, then I smile with the right-half of my face, no control of it whatsoever. Once ya get to know me its not hard to figure out..

Me and my sister are both Geminis and since birth we’ve both had the same smile – it’s hard to describe, but it looks like the Grinch who stole Christmas. We scrunch our noses, lower our eyebrows, smile, and tilt our heads down. We look simultaneously delighted and naughty.

It’s funny looking back on the family album and seeing that smile appear in photo after photo. We try not to do it these days because it’s hardly attractive to scrunch one’s nose… but we can’t help it.

I can totally see Mona Lisa being a Gem.

I have a couple key Gem placements and I do tend to find a lot of thing funny. Sometimes I just people watch and make up scenarios and events of what is going on with them or what they’re talking about.

I think Gemini placements allow for great creativity/imagination.

if you fall... dive
if you fall... dive

It’s like observational humor you’re never let in on 100%.

But that’s kind of how they are with people they care about, too: You won’t know for sure they care about you for a long time until they say something that lets you know they observe *you* as well. If they find you interesting enough to continue to observe, and find affection for what they see, then that’s basically love for them.

Well, my boss is a Gemini and as one person posted they think life is comical. That is my boss. Very frustrating for me since I need structure, procedures and productivity. (Virgo Sun). Perhaps your talking about tone and class association David. I hope this explanation clarifies this.
Having worked in a high stressful and emotional job for many years, this phrase is about “emotional pausing”. The Mona Lisa smirk is not actually a Gemini smirk. The Mona Lise is Leonardo’s face, feminised. As is the face of Jesus imprinted on the Turin shroud, which Da Vinci apparently forged, no doubt for money given by some very wealthy and hypocritical patron, since such things were a sign of status for those of faith, who paid him back then. (Fact Turin shroud was a fake was proved a while back via dating techniques, but it is only now that scholars are nailing who did it). Gem rising here. Not sure about the smirk but I can attest to being in a perennial state of amusement. I find life really comical – even when it sucks. Interesting that you say that.. my boss is Gemini and she thinks everything is funny. Me as a Virgo sun… ugh.. it is SO frustrating because she can’t be direct and give me clear direction. However, on the flip side she can be very funny.

AriesLove

Hi Virgo Ellie, I can imagine not being given clear directions at work would indeed be quite frustrating, on top of having someone being incapable of being direct with you. I definitely don’t find EVERYTHING funny. Seeing the humour in life shouldn’t get in the way of being professionally and interpersonally responsible. Sounds like there’s something else going on with your boss that has more to do with simply finding things overly funny. In any case, what I mean by seeing life as comical has more to do with cultivating a way of searching for all those gems in life… Read more »

Hi FAA, you pretty much describe how I’ve felt for months now. The anger- nay RAGE- that seems inescapable. In my case it was relationship related though, not work. I wish I had a tip or two. smirk: to smile in an affected, smug, or offensively familiar way.
before 900; Middle English smirken (v.), Old English sme(a)rcian

I would be less offended if someone said, “Yet again you doth smirken? It becometh you not fair lady” or even better if they used ‘smearcian’ in a sentence.
