Angelina’s Astro-Trip

Angelina Jolie withSo Angelina’s statement about the preventative procedure she went through to way lower her possibility of getting seriously ill in the future is surprisingly moving and intensely practical.

My mother fought cancer for almost a decade and died at 56. She held out long enough to meet the first of her grandchildren and to hold them in her arms. But my other children will never have the chance to know her and experience how loving and gracious she was.
We often speak of “Mommy’s mommy,” and I find myself trying to explain the illness that took her away from us. They have asked if the same could happen to me. I have always told them not to worry, but the truth is I carry a “faulty” gene, BRCA1, which sharply increases my risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer….

…I choose not to keep my story private because there are many women who do not know that they might be living under the shadow of cancer. It is my hope that they, too, will be able to get gene tested, and that if they have a high risk they, too, will know that they have strong options.
Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of.

What’s even more interesting, from my p.o.v. is her current astro!

Ms Jolie is Zap Zoning it with Uranus on her Moon + Mars in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn/her Health Sector.  Moon = boobs, mother, self-care. Mars = drastic action. Pluto is, well, Pluto. Transformation, Courage, Regeneration.  So this Zap Zone is ALL about her Mars/Moon in Aries + morphing her health and voila. An extreme move to cut out a genetic threat within her, to avoid the fate of her mother and ensure her own survival as a mother. And seriously, this sort of move would have taken a lot of courage, no?

Angelina Jolie with her motherAnd here is baby Angelina with her beautiful Taurean mother, Marcheline Bertrand.  Hey does this post have everything you need for an emo Moon in Kataka barring the coconut ice & the chamomile tea/catnip infused gin or what?

It’s her body – she can do what she likes with it.

Ingrid

OMG!!! Is She the only woman in the universe? Doesn’t anyone remember that Christina Applegate had the very same procedure done a few years ago? Where was her ticker tape parade???

calypso scorp

and Sharon Osbourne….alhtough the astro IS interesting!

RA

I think they both already had cancer – AJ’s was preemptive.

The test for the BRC gene is costly. Not something a lot of women can afford. A small lump may be all it takes. I have someone close to me who found a small lump (she’s a cancer with mars in cancer, venus in leo), and had a double mastectomy at the age of 40. Then had a hysterectomy 2 years later. Same thing Angeline is doing. Angelina is sun gem, mars aries, venus cancer, don’t know the rest of the chart. It’s a practical move. I’ve had friends who have had different forms of cancer, and different treatments. My… Read more »

On a lighter note… The passion in this thread is amazing. There are some very lovely interesting wacky thoughtful but overall *passionate* peeps here. Totally respect and admire that. Hugs xx

Syncronicity!!
With a Gemini sun and Aries moon (sag rising gem mercury )I have recently ie. 6 weeks ago been through a bout of BCC skin cancer removal. Self administered treatment. Now I can attest to the amazing ability of Black Salve to target and remove BCC’s. Scars are healing really well.
Bless Angelina.

Pisces with Sagg Rising

I think Angelina Jolie’s actions are personal and I don’t know her or what she has been through. From what I read, she said she was told she had an 87% chance of developing breast cancer. That is almost not if, but when. She watched her mother go through it over ten years and die relatively young. From what I understand, the type of cancer in these hereditary cases is aggressive. Who am I to say what she should do? As for her going public with it, I can’t see that she had much choice. If she hadn’t said anything,… Read more »

Don’t worry, most people won’t be able to afford the test.

Virgo Ellie

Interesting.. I was wondering how much it cost. Mastectomies are extremely expensive too. You are talking about probably $250k for each breast. If you have insurance it is probably more but just saying.. I have trouble this.

calypso scorp

yes good point. bowel cancer is not remotely sexy. and AJ is almost too sexy….just a comment on how influential she can be based on her looks/fame, etc.

Virgo Ellie

Now, I have to ask did her mother pass away from chemo treatments or cancer? They are never specific about how someone died.. was it cancer without treatments or chemo / radiation that took them away. My uncle was fine, diagnosed and once on chemo passed away in less than a year. It was the chemo that took him not cancer. RIP!! <3!!!!

Plutoboy

First, let me say that nothing in me can judge what is right for Ms. Jolie. If I knew her personally, I assume I would have had the opportunity to speak with her and voice any concerns, but that is within the structure of a personal relationship. What she does with her body is up to her. HOWEVER, when I heard the news, I was very sad, and still am. Score one for the Ahrimanic Med fear industry. Fucking butchers, blind as hell. What I do know is that if I were tested and had a positive for a gene… Read more »

i have to say my instinctive response is similar. Is it part of the same big picture attitude that doesn’t value women or breasts (except as aesthetically pleasing masterbatory prompts – or if you’re radical, breastfeeding) that enables institution-based science to see them as something to experiment on/manipulate? It’s making me uncomfortable.

I want to say something else about the costs of the pursuit of extended mortality above all else….

Virgo Ellie

I agree with you CS. Mostly the cost aspect.

Virgo Ellie

PlutoBoy.. If I understand your post correctly I agree with you. I have witnessed the treatment of doctor’s, surgeons, ultrasound techs who tried to threaten me their arrogant demeanor after I asked precise questions about their diagnosis. It angers me!!

gemyogi

It is really making me think of the warrior women (ancient greece?) who cut off one of their breasts because it got in the way of the archer’s bow. Amazons?

gemyogi

Not wanting to sound all ‘geriatric hippy’ as I was called yesterday, I have never trusted doctors, surgeons or Western medicine.

“If in doubt, cut it out” seems to be their motto.

Jesus H. Christ. Boobs are not “feminine beauty”: they house glands tht feed babies. That’s all boobs are, functional body parts for the survival of the human race, just like uteri. So sick of misogynist romanticising of womens bodies. Guess what else? Your testicles are fuqing irrelevant to your “manliness” too. You want to encourage cancer in your body based on some dated notion of what’s feminine & masculine? Please do: no room in the 21st century for ya!

Plutoboy

Wow, thanks for straightening me out on that one. I thought men had testicles, and women had breasts, I’m going to go double check my facts. And did you ever stop to think that my idea of ‘feminine beauty’ is profoundly inclusive of the fact that breasts feed (or are designed to) all of the babes of our race? I think that is beautiful, and have two gorgeous, breast-fed children. I don’t know where your pain is coming from, but I can assure you I am no misogynist. Nor do I know what the word is for “man-hater”, but you… Read more »

Anonymous

yeah, it’s pretty wow, isn’t it?

Andr

Speaking of rocks I’m waiting to hear of the first man to remove his healthy testicles because he has a high risk of testicular cancer. Come on people a gene does not express itself unless the environmental factors trigger it. Every year there are new ways of dealing with cancers. Why think you know based on the limited knowledge you have now. If you are healthy now keep learning about better ways to remain healthy instead of caving into “statistics” based on old data.

Anonymous

I love everything you said except for the maligning of men and their testes. I’m so over bitched up women making blanket statements about men at large. We are members of the same species and I’ve yet to meet a man who was actually personally responsible for the witch burnings or active in the persecution of women. How bout we deal with them on a case by case basis ladies? And expend our energy bringing about positive change at grass roots level in our daily interactions with them as situations arise? The rage is impotent and toxic otherwise.

Andr

Well, I do happen to be a man, an Aquarian man nontheless. Sorry about sounding bitchy but I thought I was actually praising men but possibly in a distasteful way.

The medical establishment I believe is mostly male and I would hope to hear from them, whoever they are, on this topic.

Angelina does not have the life her mother had, the only thing she has is her karmic conditioning that comes from both her mother and father.

She didn’t have to choose this and she should not be put on a pedestal as some goddess of virtue.

Anonymous

sorry, my mistake, you sounded like some jaded angry feminist from the 70s.

Anonymous

Wow, you need to get your adrenal glands check, bit reactive there.

Anonymous

oh dear, maybe you leave the medical diagnosis to the actual therapists. The layman’s guide to healing gets a bit old. As does the man hating.

Anonymous

No one talking about hating men here..oh wait, but you.

Anonymous

Ah! Yes, you’ve got me. Of course. I hate men. All of them.

I will indulge you with the patience one reserves for a child who hasn’t moved on from the last word phase and explain. If the post Andr made before the one I responded to hadn’t been deleted this thread would be in context. In case that’s extending you a bit further than you’re used to here’s a link http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/context and now, must dash,am geting my apollon and please see last sentence of tomorrow’s gemini scopes if you’re confused as to why this has ended so soon x

Andr

Yes Triple Air Gem very sad indeed. Why are we not talking about epigenetics? I was so impressed by Lipton’s book, Biology of Belief, I wrote an article about it over 10 years ago. And as far as I know he’s been proven right that the environment, including our beliefs, influencing the membrane of the cell [which is the actual brain of the cell] plays a much greater role, greater thatn 87%, then the gene itself. Not that it’s easy to change our deepest conditioning but that’s the real hero’s journey. Not chopping off the effect but getting to the… Read more »

Andr

Correction. I was surprised to rediscover that Lipton’s book, Biology of Belief was originally published in 2006 [so my article written shortly afterwards]. It seems to take at least 10 to 15 years before any scientific breakthroughs become known to the general public.

Lux Interior is My Co-Pilot

Brave stuff, and good on her for sharing her story….it can’t be easy.

I already heard one idiot in the media call it a ‘publicity stunt’–really? Do you have rocks in your head??
I’m sure if Angelina wanted some publicity she could get it a lot easier than by having major surgery. She could just run down the street dressed as batman or something.

Hathors horns

I don’t buy it. Who’s to say she won’t still develop cancer elsewhere in her body? Death doesn’t make deals the last time I checked. Isn’t cancer supposed to be an unpredictable disease? It all smacks of martyrdom, not courage to me. It makes me sad that she could be so paranoid, as well as boosting the already rife cancer industry.

Anonymous

I kinda agree. My friend’s mother-in-law had breast cancer, decided to have double masectomy and then found out she has breast cancer again. She took the preventative measures and it still didn’t stop it, unfortunatley.

Anonymous

I suspect having popped out some sprogs changes the way you think about ‘your’ body – it’s housed other living beings while they grew so I guess there’s a loss of ‘ownership’ over the space you inhabit, who knows. Could be a mother thing – it’s something I’ll never know so don’t feel comfortable trying to nut it out vicariously but totally agree with you re the cancer ‘industry’. Fear is so not zen.

Anonymous

Fear is one side of a coin. Can’t have a one-sied coin now, can we? And life is a terminal condition, people: get over it. You will die some day gauranteed. Deal.

Anonymous

I’m sort of thinking along the same lines and a bit horrified by the prospect that as a result of her influence we might see a lot more women having their breasts lopped off in a pre-emptory way.

Anonymous

the breast issue becoming prevalent is weird – I noticed recently there was a charity that collects money to send bras to underprivileged women. You would think food and education would be more useful. Yet scientists have just released studies showing that bras actually cause the breakdown of breast tissue and serve no real purpose and without them our breasts would not sag as much as when wearing a bra all your life and your tissue just disintegrates. I’ve also been told by doctors that most breast tumours happen in the area where the underwire digs into the breast by… Read more »

calypso scorp

oh, that was me….but interesting re: the astro Mystic and esp Mars symbolising the sword to cut things off with. ftr, I feel sad for her too – sad that she doesn’t have her boobs anymore.

Anonymous

Why do you feel sad for her? What about all the women who go through the same thing but don’t have the support or the money to get reconstructive surgery!
I don’t give a shit about her missing boobs.

calypso scorp

I feel even more sad for them – don’t worry, privilege (and it’s opposite moreso) is way up there on my radar, but can’t my compassion transcend these things?

Virgo Ellie

I think Angelina is absolutely beautiful. If she is happy about it and survives then kudos to her. I hope the test that determined her diagnosis is accurate and the surgery is safe. Everyone will be happy to do what she is doing.

I think our bodies are much healthier than what we are being told.

I hope no one else loses any body parts anytime soon. Shutting up now.

that’s funny Hippa. There has been a lot of body part talk lately, and subsequent lopping off of said body parts. but did you see today, a research group finally found the break through to stem cell research. how pluto uranus you are right. soon, you can grow back the body part, or in AJ’s case “grow a pair”.

Ever hear of epigenetics? How our environment, including our unconscious beliefs, impact our genetic expression. Read Bruce Lipton, a geneticist who’s groundbreaking book, the Biology of Belief, is now considered fact but just like quantum physics people have not caught up yet, even though we use its discoveries in our technology. I can appreciate she is beautiful and sexy and has dark power, but WTF was with that desperate display of leg a while back?

Personally I don’t find her that interesting, even with a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s blood around her neck just after breaking up Brad and Jen.

I think you may have a point here. Although cosmetic surgeons will benefit, I think your surrepticious link would be Myriad Genetics who holds the patent in unlocking the genetic sequence to the BRCA 1 and 2 mutations, profiled in AJ case; and who would stem to profit most from the exclusivity. It’s not just for breast cancer but for ovarian as well…I think just to run the test, it costs around 7,000? And I can fathom AJ making a buck from her “awareness” op-ed piece to scare in more business.

Dark but highly likely.

THIS!!!!! Those bastards recently won a court case in Australia where they kept the “rights” to these genes. HOW this is being allowed to happen is absolutely beyond me. The case has gone to appeal and I really hope it gets overturned – because otherwise only rich women will be able to afford this testing.

Miss Leo

This is ridiculous. Breast implants are actually frequently covered by a large number of health insurance policies if a woman has a mastectomy due to cancer either as a preventative measure or because cancer is already a problem. Furthermore, I highly doubt Angelina Jolie is so desperate for money considering all of the charitable things she does. Jolie met this head on like a warrior. Lobbing off body parts is so intense. So is motherhood, and being determined to survive for your children & their children. Pi

it’s like cognitive dissonance, goddess of hollywood has both breasts surgically removed. at the same time a great leveller – not in a puerile schadenfreude way, but that on a certain level, womens’ experiences (and those shared by their nearest and dearest) are profoundly connected and no one has a perfect existence. the sisterhood gets real.

having said that, i’d like to think that everyone would be able to afford this test and to deal with the results as they’d need to.

12th house virgo

Yes, affordability is an issue, and availability and awareness, yes? Lost my sister to breast cancer. She had no idea she was at risk. Last night, my (other, obv) sister’s best friend died of ovarian cancer. The idea that these women could have been tested/screened for a faulty gene and taken preventative measures to avoid/overcome the disease is a message that needs to be introduced to society. Women’s health care needs more attention and innovation and, if nothing else, its good to have a celeb walking that talk.

Anonymous

Totally agree Pi

Anonymous

I’m on Oz, and the test was free. I just brought up my concerns with my GP and asked if there was any way to test my genetic predisposition to cancer (I was mostly worried about ovarian cancer due to family history) and she did the blood test.

The availability/affordability of reconstruction procedures would worry me too if the test showed genetic cancer markers. I know it is technically available here through the public system which is great but there may be a waiting list.

she looks so much like her mum, I first thought the photo at bottom was Angelina on the left, and one of her kids.

So, she has moon in Aries too? same here…. good, I always get impressed when someone I admire has moon in Aries.

She was always gorgeous, so yes this must have taken some courage. but she is and always was, way more than her boobs.
must be hard to take (the writing is very mature but I’m sure it is not easy), still all the respect in the world to her.

Talk about synchronicity.. Just got my blood test results from the doctor today. I was much luckier that Angelina though. No genetic markers found. Such a relief after years of wondering and worrying (mostly about ovarian cancer that took my paternal grandmother when she was in her 40s). Very grateful that such a test is easily available. I know it’s not a lifetime guarantee of staying cancer-free but it’s a bit of peace of mind for the time being. I’m also having a uranus to natal moon transit and pluto in the 6th house. Actually uranus is currently exact on… Read more »

This current news item is so relevant to me right now… my Mum is recovering from breast cancer and her sister had it when she was not a lot older than I am now… so thinking about genetic testing and would most definitely consider masectomy. I would really like to have kids first though as I want to breast feed. I’ve only got one natural breast anyway – one of mine didn’t develop (C cup vs AA cup) and so, when I was 16 I had an implant inserted. A bit painful and pretty emotional, but my advice would be… Read more »

She looks so much like her mother!
I applaud her. Scary but the smart thing to do given the odds. I would do the same if I were in her shoes.

tabloids had noticed her absence but put it down to possible pregnancy. how wrong could they be? well, here it is. i find her vexing these days post brad/jen marriage breakage. she projects this cold steel image of a grecian marble statue but clearly there’s more to her. i cant imagine making such a huge decision. living with this shadow over her. watching her mother fight for so long only for the illness to win. is that where the rebellion comes from? fearing that she would be left without love? why she had so many children – to have someone… Read more »

LOL, love the way you are so torn up discussing how you feel about her! She kind of does that to people.

She seems decent enough, I like the way she is trying to make an impact on the world, She is not afraid to be curious which is the Gemini quality, but then she seems quite Pluto with all the vials of blood and showy leather/bisexuality etc. Though she doesn’t do much for me as an actress.
Can’t ENUNCIATE don’t y’know.

indeed, mystic it is all that n more 🙂

i used to like angelina, now shes my gd hero.

So interesting about the astro! Great post. Love for your kids will make you do almost anything I believe, “to avoid the fate of her mother and ensure her own survival as a mother” sounds so Darwinian though true. Anyway, I can totally understand her reaction, Mars/Moon action withstanding. But a part of me would be interested to see how she would respond to Family Constellation/Parts Therapy/Ancestor Healing style shamanic therapy etc. You know, checking out the reason for this thread of illness running through her family line, where it originated and how likely she is/was to continue the cycle… Read more »

I have long thought we carry genetic memory…through the issues – and tissues – of our forebears and that it is our evolutionary project to heal those things that tend to manifest in the physical if we don’t heed them. My mother also had breast cancer (after having to surrender 4 daughters… including me at birth (such were those times…no wonder she got breast cancer!) I also have a friend who has taken this ‘preventative’ action but I wonder about the reduction of complex mind/body dis- ease to simply genetics and a surgical solution. Wonder if AJ is also doing… Read more »

The issues are in the tissues, yes definitely. That must have been very sad for your mother to lose her babies, what a story, so sorry. Was just reading, “Dying to Be Me” by Anita Moordjani. It’s a really great book, moving and thoughtful. She is very careful in talking about the reason for her cancer, NDE and her miraculous recovery. She says that in a nutshell, her manifesting the cancer all came down to ‘fear’. Having cleared up my own ancestral-issue/tissue connection pretty much, I do think we can choose to transmute, or deal with our family’s pains for… Read more »

Angelina Jolie inspires women to maim themselves by celebrating medically perverted double mastectomies… Inform yourself and you can protect your breasts/body from the insane, knife-wielding cancer surgeons.

sweetpea

sOZ but you sound like a nut…

UNTIL, one’s body is enlightened, there will be cancers and genetic shit passed down generation after generation that one will deal with.

Think she’s being highly realistic and also caring toward her children/family.

The ultimate way to take responsibility however is to enlighten yourself…On every level…

Today on capitol hill, one of the senators asked (the the IRS commissioner)…

“What can we do to cut this cancer out?”

Sometime you just gotta cut it out until it can be dealt with in other ways. Think this is all very symbolic and yes, Angelina showing the way…

Go Angie…

you sound ignorant! Plenty of woman have that gene whatever and it not turn to cancer. Sure it is a risk, but we all know how much some doctors love to scare people. Each to their own i guess

Drastic action takes courage, is straight forward (though cancer treatment I learned is much about statistics and risk management), so yes to leave as little to chance with researched options is the best action…
