What Is The Antidote To Lower Neptune?

Alessio Bolzoni

Dear Mystic,

I’m Pisces sun and Kataka Rising. I am totally relating to your take in the horoscopes on Kataka career awesome. I am expanding rapidly and managing to rise to my mental ‘ideal’ image of myself. It’s great. What I want to ask you to explain is how to overcome the Piscean tendency to self medicate in times of stress.

I’m super sensed to coffee at the mo, reaching for it to get me over the line starting to turn back to sugar and a few drinks and needing to have the highest level of energy I’ve ever needed – best gathered in my case by meditation, yoga and nature etc. I simply need to be at full strength. So my question is, how do you think it’s best to work with the lower Neptunian influences so we can really max out the awesome? Do you think you could blog your thoughts on this at some point?

The Piscean Over-Achiever

Dear Piscean Over-Achiever,

Congratulations on clearly channelling the Zap Zone so brilliantly. This sounds fantastic!  But okay, first of all you’re asking a Single Origin Coffee Addict who has in depth psycho-coffee-geek chats with baristas so cool they vibe like characters in a William Gibson novel.  I am talking Geisha coffee, coffee beans from Mt Everest (for when no altitude is high enough), coffee beans grown in shamanic soil and coffee beans from space. Last person on this planet for advice on de-caffeinating, soz.

Next: Neptune can go a whole lot worse than you turning to sugar or a few drinks sweetie. See the post Warning: Neptune Can Break Your Heart – but i think we all know of the perils of Lower Neptune, yes?

But you sound like you’re doing this in epic style – yoga, meditation etc. I personally think that in times of high demand life and workloads (a.k.a the whole of the Zap Zone for most people) you have to make yourself exercise, even if you don’t technically have the time. It will always reset your brain to max Awesome via endorphins & fabulous neurotransmitters nobody even really knows the name of yet.

And my Libra naturopath told me that B Vitamins + those fizzy Zinc drinks are like GOLD for hi-stress peeps but also that the key thing is to keep your glycemic levels even – not surging and then dropping because you’re on that sugar roller coaster. There are huge tomes written on this but essentially it boils down to protein with every meal & don’t eat shit. Like, if you want a ‘treat’ and that ‘treat’ is to be food, keep it gourmet – not junk.

She also said that SLEEP is the best vitamin. And that the way to get a good sleep is not to lie awake at 1am googling schizz on your iPhone. I specialize in Mars in Virgo Symptoms Analysis at that time. But the light from the phone fuqs with your pineal gland so your brain thinks it is DAWN and starts to send ‘wake the fuq up and go hunt something’ hormones through your body. So hence of COURSE voodoo coffee shots next a.m and then of course less ability to sleep.

Having said all that, i have just gone 84 days without a drop of alcohol and THAT makes stress/big workloads so much easier. It’s crazy. You realise there is a reason why a lot of successful people don’t drink – it gets in the way and once you remove it you (a) have to face the emo issues that might usually be suppressed and actually process/integrate them and (b) you’re not trying to deal with a poison (even just a bit of it) the whole time so your liver etc functions better.

What else? Oh yes – don’t hang with Qi Vampires. You know the sort of people who act like half your ideas are just some affectation because you’re kind of deeply warped where-as they, with their cliched lives and non-stop whining are apparently normal.

Binaural Beats are amazing when you need to regenerate fast. They’re also totally Haute Neptune so say you are feeling strung out and over-whelmed, longing for some wine, crisps and jelly snakes (my personal axis of nutrition evil when i am stressed), you instead have a 20 minute power nap with a Binaural playing – you can’t hear it, it just sounds like wig-wam music – and voila you emerge Phoenixed.

And Green Tea and/or l-Glutamate kill cravings dead. But hey i think you sound GREAT and congrats on Zapping the Zap Zone.

What does everyone else think? How do you combat Lower Neptune urges? A.k.a. addictions, defensive drinking, sugar hits that mess with your mind, delusional thinking because you’re too busy to analyze straight etc.

I like the softer green tea — white tea. Lovely flavor, I think. Don’t drink often but did just order some more blackberry wine. It’s got a luscious, rich flavor. Since my life is calm and serene now, floating about on a morphine cloud would suit me fine. Life is very happy in a morphine-colored world. Too bad there’s no Huxlean Soma to be had whenever one wants some. I suppose that my Pisces moon wanting everything dreamy and smiling. Life is dam’ good, but drugs can make it so dam’ good-er.

I’ve taken up running three times a week . I absolutely hate it but I’m terribly happy that I do it once it’s over. I’m never any good at keeping up with vitamins. I have issues with swallowing pills and the liquid vitamins taste awful (too sour). I love my evening alcohol. I seriously look forward to it at the end of the work day. it’s just one glass of red wine (in the summer) or whiskey (in the winter) but I’m starting to get a little concerned that I actually look forward to it. My live-in bf drinks daily… Read more »

I love caffeine but it doesn’t love me back.
I save it as a treat for exceptionally busy days where I can work it out of my system through exercise, loads of physical activity or a long walk, otherwise it keeps me up all night with racing wild thoughts and terrible nightmares.

latest (oz) health guidelines for women suggest up to two glasses a day is actually not that bad, and allow for a couple of alcohol-free nights a week. decent red wine has many health benefits (not just the nice wind-down social ones!)

Can I just as a Kataka walk into this convo sideways as a moon & rising? And totally left of field? Aqua……I had an IUD fitted its taken all food cravings away. Like a permanent Scorp moon. For decades menstrual cycle and hideous past sexual experiences made me an emo eater. Good on you! Yay! I stopped drinking booze a couple weeks ago too! I’m glad to know I’m. Not alone! I had some really distressing stuff haPpen my life,

Yes it has been gruelling, that achey needy feeling! I think in years gone by I would fill the void with alcohol, a crazy night out, then in more recent times long phone calls to far away friends, or even friends around the corner. Desperate for contact, understanding.
I now recognise it as a grindy moment which needs to be processed. Sometimes it’s hard to find the right healing balm, artistic outlets can be problematic and elusive…often the garden can be a life saver during these times, and swimming of course!

I’m drinking a glass or two of red tonight for the first time in ages…. I have a bad habit of drinking the whole bottle, after not drinking for months…. it’s strange how when you’re actually doing quite well you panic about relatively minor slip ups a la sweets and the occasional coffee when there are people who have gambled or hit their whole lives away….

i’m learning the biggest obstacle is not dwelling on minor slips or letting them turn into major ones – refocus…. and until things become habit, energy, focus and preparation is key!

yep. forgiving yourself for being human. also, think about what you would say to a friend who had had a minor setback but was generally on track. you would reassure them and tell them they are doing really well, the slip up is nothing in the scheme of what they’re trying to achieve and it’s OK, and to keep up the good work. “to err is human”

Ah baristagem I’m impressed! I always imagine you are supafit but how did you “break” yourself into a runner! did you do the 0 to 5km thing? loving running again. regarding Berocca, it’s high in sodium so take that into account if salt’s a thing for you. 😯 Thanks Pi, I think I need the added salts from Berocca… 😀 But seriously there was some great research conducted by university of qld, I think, where they sampled a group taking vit b and c plus folate for migraines and it helped. Sleep – from the luscious and ripped Mark Sisson – use f.lux. Its free and you can get it for iDevices as well. Tres Piscean: i recognise this attitude and i think when i do this i’m being self delusional. It’s too clever.

If i had to stop and explain my behaviour to anyone then it’s just too convoluted. If i feel i don’t need to explain against any ‘misguided’ accusations then i’m doing right by my highest self. If someone wants to misunderstand, let them. If an accusation gets to me and i feel the need to justify, it’s a big fat warning.

Actually, I get the whole “make it a ritual” thing and I have found that with minimal use you can take advantage of the way being slightly altered can quiet down the stress and actually help to clear your head and get things sorted out. I agree that the best way to deal with Neptune is to give him his due, but in conscious doses. I think all Neptunians need to periodically drop off the radar in some way and not be available to the workaday world. In healthy ways. Otherwise the pressure builds up, Neptune washes over you, and you end up taking it out by drinking while driving, or sleeping with your best friend’s husband or creating victim-y, codependent relationships. I don’t know if this makes any sense?

Pi
Pi

it does make sense (pisces with neptune in fire trine with saturn, MC). the periodical dropping out that is. drink driving, sleeping with husbands isn’t my thing and I think I have worked through co-dependency and neptunian intimate relationships (hi there, waning Neptune 8th house transit), but I neptune out by sudden and extreme rejection of routine, discipline, procrastination… OMG! lol. 6th house natal neptune lightbulb (floodlight more like it).

rennet is an enzyme that is in animal stomachs. there is non-rennet cheese avail, such as nimbin cheese (in oz). It’s interesting how friendships change when you stop drinking, isn’t it?

I have never been a big drinker, eventually stopped a a few years ago, I think through years of yoga practice and getting up at 5 am. Yoga and meditation are I think natural attrition tools for lower Neptune substances.
