Bjork’s tattoo is the Viking/Germanic Vegvisir – a Runic compass, to help you find the way no matter how hard, rough or stormy the weather. Beautiful, right? She is into Runes, mythology and astrology…Remember her talking about her ultra-Scorp chart? And of course, this is a woman who wrote and performed a song called Pluto…Here are some more Scorpionic thoughts from the lady.

“I love secrets and mystery.”

“I don’t like in-between stuff. I love really, really sweet stuff like chocolate cakes and then I love curry, vindaloo, do you know what I mean? I guess I’m an over emotional person. I’m very, very happy or I’m very, very this or very, very that. Always two verys. Even when I’m miserable it’s over in five minutes. It’s like brraaaaaagh! And, then it’s over, I go all the way to the bottom but then I go whooooooosh! That’s a very Icelandic thing. A Viking, hardcore, don’t-feel-sorry-for-yourself attitude. When I laugh, I laugh really loud. You have to hurt yourself laughing or it’s no good.”

“Medúlla is primitive, like before civilisation. It’s the soft squidgy thing in the centre. After Vespertine I was going to do an album with intuition only, no brain please. I was thinking more visceral, flesh and blood, pregnancy… death metal.”

“I was going to call the album Ink, because I wanted it to be like that black, 5,000-year-old blood that’s inside us all; an ancient spirit that’s passionate and dark and survives.”

“I’ve got a lot of courage, but I’ve also got a lot of fear. You should allow yourself to be scared. It’s one of the prime emotions. You might almost enjoy it, funny as it sounds, and find that you can get over it and deal with it. If you ignore these things, you miss so much. But when you want to enjoy something, especially when it’s something you’ve just been introduced to, you’ve got to have a lot of courage to do it. I don’t think I’m more courageous than most people. I’m an even mixture of all those prime emotions.”

Viking madness… Don’t mean to rain on the Viking parade, but waiting for farmers to reap their crops and then raping, murdering and thieving is what their main claim to fame was based upon was it not?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing a piece on Bjork. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE HER! Sun, Moon and Rising in Scorpio. She is such an fascinating artist and her beliefs are so profound. Lately, I too have been interested in Celtic symbols. Was unaware of her tattoo. Not surprised at all. 🙂

Can’t say I always like Bjork’s music but boy do I totes relate to the Scorpionic/Viking thing. Hell my surname is an ancient Viking one that’s pretty rare, even has a town named after it and all apparently. And the Viking habit of pushing through difficulties and not feeling sorry for oneself despite the crisis is familiar! Not to mention the Scorpio depth sounder thing – it’s all or nothing and nowhere in between, and unless there’s depth I don’t take it seriously. Yeah go girl ;-).

Can safely assume I am Viking blood being half Let.
Viking settlements and wars dating back to before the days of King Domo and King Frodo all around Latvia. (Ok, I just had to add that as it sounded so funny).

Viking Scorpios or Archers are not to be messed with?!

That tattoo has links to sacred geometry : ). Yesterday I came across some Australian indigineous rock art that had clearly defined depictions of grid work. The art is in fact situated near a very powerful and uplifting grid line. I love how the more you look the more everything so simply links together : ) wishing happiness to you all.

Bjork *sigh*! Went to the Big Day Out as a teen and saw Bjork perform and was blown away. To see this incredibly cute and divine woman powerfully dominating the stage with her own music was beyond inspiring to me at this awkward age. She was dressed in a full length chong sum and she looked like a goddess come to Earth!

She has an interactive ipad app where you fly through a three dimensional galaxy called Biophilia. It seems to be about astrology or astronomy, sound and music.
Has anyone tried it?

I have her tattoo on my wrist. What can I say? I was a huge fan girl as a teenager and had wanted it from 16 to 18, so the night of the my birthday, I went for it. I was explaining it to someone and I told him it helped vikings get home after being lost at sea. He asked me if I had trouble with that. It was kind of funny because it was right after I had moved from the West Coast to the East Coast back to the West Coast and had broken up with my… Read more »

I love this description of her tattoo. One of my favourite places in the world is the north east of Scotland/England where there is a network of castles originally built to defend the borders. A place called Lindisfarne (Holy Island) was frequently the first port of call for the Vikings. I have been wanting to find a way to honour my love for this place and maybe this tattoo is it. It felt immediately right when I read your comment.
I don’t have any tattoos so of course I’m terrified but it’s on my reinvention list 🙂

Bjork is stung by a scorpion in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKSoBJ8WirE&feature=related – and the photo above looks as if it may very well have been created from the session to shoot the video.

Her comments on fear are very Plutonic, but as a Scorpio Sun, I’ve always found it difficult to process emotions quickly and move on. There’s always–always–a brooding or analyzing stage where I try to make sense of it all and even then it can still remain in my psyche for ages. But I have Moon and Ascendant in Taurus, so perhaps those placements slow everything down.

i have moon conjunct pluto and uranus. but lot of times my full cancer-house changes that transformation-process into self-pity-cling-to-hold-on-stay-there… bullshit? i dont know. its me. try to dont judge it – but – analyze. like you do with your pluto-sun i do it with my virgo-moon-pluto-uranus… 🙁

Had the same thought. I’ve learned to make friends with fear, ask it to come closer and explain itself, etc. But getting that all done in 5 minutes?!? Not likely. I admire her resiliency

I would LOVE to hear bjork’s take on death metal. OMG

Fascinating perception and I don’t mind her take on life. Certainly I like that she honours all parts of herself equally.

And yes, I don’t mind that tattoo. I really like it’s meaning and I’m considering another so this one has me musing a little.

Gaaaahhh! As a plutonic (yes, I”ve taken the questionairre thingy) – anyhow Sun conjunct Pluto anyhow, amongst other things – and as I get older; I really relate to all this, and I never thought I would have… to this degree. Beautiful, gutsy Bjork. AND I have Viking in my traceable ancestry. Feisty. Passionate.

That is SO sexy to have Viking in your ancestry

Check out your ancestry and family tree. Many families can be traced back to the Vikings. I have a surly great-grandpa by the name Skull Crusher. lol! 😉
It’s addictive and fun go on ancestry.com to find out.

Bjork is cool 🙂
Totes relate to the ode to le secrets and mystery (Sun Conj Pluto) and hardcore don’t feel sorry for yourself. Only putting your emotions under the micorscope for a short time is the best way to think (Moon trine Mercury earth).

Good advice; Oh and I have the moon trine mercury nearly exact and I literally feel ancient, but mercury is retrograde and it is all water…there is plenty of earth to soak it all up!
