Pimp My Dream 3

Sombre Boite

And so it is that i call upon you guys again. Yes, you were SO unbelievably helpful for Pimp My Dream 1 and Pimp My Dream 2 that i am offering another one for analysis.

And please, bung your dreams of the past few  nights in here as well, if you like.

Okay, in my dream, i am in my house as usual and suddenly encounter an old man there. Not an intruder. He’s living there. This is not an old man like Gandalf or the Jungian Senex archetype. No way. He is stoop shouldered, critical and pompous. So i say “what the fuq are you doing in my house?” and he says (in a begrudging, guilting sort of a tone) “don’t worry, I’m going.”

And so he does, along with a formidable amount of ghastly stuff: chipped old formica tables, scuffed ancient vinyl records in tatty covers, hideous tartan print suitcases with rusty latches…the lot. Are you getting it? So this narky old guy gets all his stuff and hauls arse out of my house, grumbling like he’s been evicted but going.

So, um, yes. Thoughts welcome! And no i don’t have any actual clutter to get rid of. I am like the opposite of a hoarder. Mars in Virgo LIVES to throw stuff out and edit things.

processing the old, welcoming the new! maybe you did a very good job with your decluttering thing (in you psyche as well), so the dreams allows you to -1st meet this old part, acknowledge it, that he was there actuually, and then, -2nd, say “goodbye” to it (the man and his old stuff), for a new you. congrats! very good dream!

Your house is your psyche. You told him to go + he agreed. Is this the father archetype you experienced as a child? Is he showing you how you use your Saturn if you don’t take care ? Pompous / Smart Arse ? Perhaps you just needed a nudge that there was an intruder in danger of taking up permanent residence in your life.

I had a pretty good one a few nights ago. I was in a car with people I knew from previous places I’ve lived, driving along the coast to get to San Berndino (is that a real place?), when I looked up and noticed the moon was HUGE. It took up most of the sky. When I went to show everyone else it disappeared behind some leaves. Once we got closer to the ocean it was near normal size again, with some space dust gathering directly about it, then fell onto it, making the moon into a quasi-earth for a… Read more »

Other people have covered the Gestalt, Jungian and Astro interpretations. So the only input I have is that of Occam’s razor: Perhaps you really did have some old crappy spirit dude in your house, who was pompous and guilting and cluttering up your space with his negative crap. Once you noticed him you did the obvious and kicked him out. I have no idea if spirits of that nature exist, but when I moved into my current rental (which is an old vicarage next to a church) I had a dream where I encountered a blue-light ball of energy-spirit thing,… Read more »

Very nice, the old man taking all of the junk out of the house. Wish he would come around here, every time I turn around I come across another piece of junk that I haven’t noticed in ages.

I can’t remember my dreams. Haven’t for a couple of weeks. I hate this.

I need help, I just remembered the dream I had this last night. The dream started imitating real life: I was home alone this week. In the dream I was chilling at home. However I left the flat for a moment, I don’t remember the reason, though. Once I was outside I realised I had left the keys inside so I was distressed. I finally decided to call on the next door neigbours which in real life are a young couple who seldom are at home. Two girls of approx. my age opened the door and were very kind to… Read more »

Cool dream! 😯 I think the girls were the key to recognising some things going on in your life. You said you didn’t know why you left your apartment however when you did you felt distressed… this could represent something to do with security in your life at the moment? The girls held the ‘key’ and opened the door with ease, and following that you saw your apartment in a different light – big and elegant- that’s what I think you’ll find if you can identify the issue surrounding security, apartment and/or keys. Btw I think the girls are symbolic… Read more »

Something IS happening but it hasn’t happened yet. Since you aren’t an actual hoarder it could be emotional hangings on. Grudge, ex, hurts, way of looking or feeling about yourself that no longer serves. People that take but don’t give.

Time to move, paint refresh with a new coffee table ? When was the last time you had cherished friends over ?

I had one of the most disturbing dreams of my life two nights ago. I was inside the mind of a serial killer. I wasn’t him, but kinda co-habiting his mind and he could communicate with me but I couldn’t speak back to object to what he was doing. It was as if he wanted a spectator. The whole thing was so vivid. I could hear his thoughts, listen to his plans and see through his mind what happened when he executed his plans. It was truly horrifying and I can’t work out what it represents since I have no… Read more »

The mega dream vibe has kept me thinking cecil B de Mille runs my nocturnal hours recently. The one that really freaked me was finding myself standing in a cubicle of a multi cubicle public toilet and looking down into the bowl and realising I had given birth. I had had no idea I had even been oregnant and had no recall of the birth. But the baby was dead. I sttid there struggling with the shock of what had happened and whether I should reach in and try and bring the baby back alive and my repulsion with reaching… Read more »

I reckon you should be majorly pleased that the guy picked up and left with all his clapped out stuff. And all you had to do was ask. Would also be interesting to know how you felt after he left. Releived? Content? Or still perplexed?

Ellen Nicholas

Now here’s a reply that’s more in line with my perceptions. I don’t believe other people can interpret one’s dreams very well, because dream symbols are so subjective. The most important thing is – How did you feel? When you found him, when he left? I sensed it may have been “disgust” at first. And that’s the key to what it meant…With all the old broken stuff he took with him, I am inclined to think it had to do with you as a child of some age?….when I dream of unwanted people in my space, it has to do… Read more »

Oh, just quickly, my sister was at her friends a few weeks ago, (they are both orthodox greek – just painting the picture for the Priest bit). The wife has been seeing ”’ghosts” since she was little, her grandmother did too.. so, just before her and her husband are about to hop into bed, the wife says ‘ oh that ghost is in here again” (in their room), her husband freaks out and can’t sleep and starts swearing and carrying on (she usually doesn’t mention the ghost spotting to him) and she says ”Don’t worry, I’ll get the Priest round… Read more »

Hell on wheels…i am about to expose some patriarchal bullshit, plus have given enough rope to another, and it’s time to swing. Usually compassionate, and let things go, give space to work out (grumble to friends of course!) I started to rise against last week. Thanks to the people who supported here on another post, as i was nervous and already feeling defeated and weary, though there was no other option than to quietly begin. I agree with lots of the comments esp FA’s and milleunanotte. Suddenly this figure is in your consciousness, you recognise him, dislike him, and can now order him out of your life. The figure/energy is outmoded, old, judgemental, unhappy, and *no longer welcome*. All of the things he takes with him as he leaves are OLD – formica tables, LPs, tartan suitcases? says 1970s-80s to me. Maybe you loaded up on someone’s beliefs without realising then (like mille said, 5th or 9th house??). So, Although it’s not *your* stuff, it’s been in your life, and you had to dust it,… Read more »

😯 Great dream Mystic! When I read your dream earlier I read some comments and thought yeah, these guys have it. While I was meditating I thought about your dream again and I felt this amazing shift, like the old guy was somehow ingrained into your mind/body/soul. I mean he hasn’t just been there since the 70’s (that’s how old I pictured him too) BUT I’m thinking he has been there since the late 1800 to early 1900’s! Then I thought about how when you go through a healing process sometimes your trying to heal things in your life that… Read more »

New Age Leo
New Age Leo

A few years ago I trained as a Gestalt therapist but packed it in after realising that they get paid so badly. Anyway, the Gestalt take on dreams says that all dream figures are aspects of self. So the narky old dude and the old clutter are things you have a) recognised, b)reject and c) Are in the process of trashing. All good; one further idea would be to investigate what role these figures had in your life. What could the old dude have been useful for (as a symbolic aspect of self)? What about the formica and vinyl etc?… Read more »

My friend Herr Jung says that it is the minute specifc details (rather than the overall impression) that are the most important.

A formica table, vinyl record, tartan suitcase and rusty latch, form a quaternity. But what does it mean. What is it specifically about formica, and vinyl, etc.

A table is square and a record is round, so this is bit of a mandala. A suitcase is a box, as in Pandora’s.

Saturnrox
Saturnrox

Those 2 words ‘formica+ table’ always takes my brain to the little guy in plaid suit caressing ‘this is a formica table’ … (weird line in Twin peaks.)

Loving the Lilith tie-in Mystic, she is near my N Node and my Juno has some freedom loving aspects. I will be looking further into this, thanks !

I was thinking if your home in dream is you, you are pushing out the outworn modes of thinking and any patriarchal influences that are bringing you down !

Coming in late here, but the formica furniture, vinyl records & tartan are relics of the 1960s and 70s, so the redundant allusions symbolized by the inner curmudgeon probably date back to then. To me those objects also symbolize artifice (from the 50s to the 70s plastics and other man made fibres and materials were celebrated until people realized how toxic and polluting they are…)

So apart from what the others here have said about the old man, I believe you’re also farewelling remnants of artifice, and some redundant associations from the 70s.

Buckle (Aries, Pisces Asc, Gem moon)

It’s a boundaries dream.

I concur with much of the above. Old man = old stuff/friend that you don’t want taking up your psychic or physical space.

I do think there’s the possibility that someone in your life who you could, by wordplay or associative thinking, identify as the ‘old man’ needs to be told to get off your turf. Is someone hanging around too much? Anyone doing too much of the “what’s yours is mine because I love you” thing? Even though they’re yesterday’s friend?

I see this as the last ends of anything old you may have carried around vacating. It isn’t you or any part of you so the old energy is saying bye. Nice dream, it has Jo place here. Hark the end of your Saturn transit perhaps?

Saturn has been grinding away in my chart since 2006 and he’s definitely been a flanno-wearing crusty old tenant tinkering and scraping away at my calcified bits.

Is something and or someone coming back to remind you of a past time/relationship or you?

I dreamt 2 nights ago that I was playing cricket on a bright sunny day (the comment to davidl in the Senna blog must have sparked it), Alan Border threw the ball and a pair of spectacles to me. The crowd cheered, I was so very pleased with my skills.

Oh my god. It’s so similar to my most-awful-dream-ever of two nights ago that i i can’t help but mention. Is this full moon touching your aquarius planets MM? It’s right on my Mars. My dream was similar – as in, i can only imagine how horrified you were that this creepy man was in your space. I know you love your clean, edited, private place to dream and create. Wow! Rockstar dream! I am under the impression that your home is a representation if your self and seeing a ‘resident’ who has been there a really long time, and that you have only recently become aware of strikes me az you coming to a personal awareness of a long held attitude, emotion or belief that is now past his use by date… Along with all the clutter and detritus of a time gone by. Mystic.. it sounds like you are being told to be aware, self protected, against clingy hangers-on – the fact that the old man was soooo revolting to your ‘way’ of life, had the dream continued, I imagine you would have torn round doing a mega cleanse, purification to erase his musty aura.

Perhaps a little fortification is in order.. after all.. you never know who/what is trying to get a foot in your oh-so-shiny door!

What is your relationship with old men(or men that age) in general? Was he like grandpa sort of age or elderly dad?

I think it’s a good dream. You are getting rid of something you didn’t really like or wasn’t comfortable having around…something represented by the old guy and his clutter. He could represent something about you that you are reforming or changing for the better.

fallen angel
fallen angel

Simple. It’s Saturn and you’re tired of his old ass. Plus he gets to carry out – via you consciously honoring his demands during daylight, all the intolerable psychic crap that accumulates when one willfully goes into Saturn-denial.

Which you haven’t. But of course, you’ve also emotionally internalized him – hence his squatter status in the palace of your mind. So I think this is you prepping to give him the heave-ho in actuality.. for soon you shall be in a new place, literally and leave the history of all broken things behind.

Ta-da.
