Pluto The Undead

Pluto Mike Brown bookYeah right.

Few things illustrate the divide between astronomers and astrologers so aptly as the decision by a council of astronomers to demote Pluto.

I mean, did any of them even THINK to consult an astrologer re this?

Remember, astrology came first.

Just ask any of the Capricorns born in December whether they think Pluto is a planet or not.

Really, is there ONE person born in the last week of December – any year – who has not noticed change in their lives so profound that it could only be described in underworldly trip/metamorphosis/phoenix metaphors?

Pluto is between five to eight degrees of Capricorn till Jan 2012. These degrees have been the Plutonic Hot Zone since Feb 2010.

So, for a good time, look at 5 to 8 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Kataka and Libra in your chart.

OR – if it is easier – for birthdays in the last week of December, June, March and September.

Plot your progress since then. Β You can see it as a trip into some underworld and now you are trudging back up toward the light to reclaim your throne.

Or think of it as an evolution and how painful is it to drop off fins and flippers or whatever?

But you get it. That ain’t no baby planet-oid ripping you up your life and rendering you more authentic.

I am in plutonic respite. Nothing in the zone. Nada. I exited the zone around Jan/Feb 2010. Prior to that it got my chiron IC/MC sun pluto jupiter and uranus in one looong hit. It was a river deep and wide and I made the crossing with pluto, saturn jupiter and uranus transitting in my dinghy all the way to the new paradigm on the other side. The next hit will be a sextile with my moon in about a year and a half. That’ll be interesting – my pluto transits was amongst other things how to deal with bitches… Read more »

Just got out of Pluto opp. Venus transit…just in time for Pluto opp. Mars transit…ugh!
Or maybe I had Pluto opp. Neptune…whatever it was, I was told it’s very common to be in an abusive relationship at this time. Good thing I just got out of one!

4 Cap and I went way downhill then got married. After a very wild and wooly 6 year on/off relationship, one phone call got us hitched. Now Pluto is about to square my Mars while Saturn is on my Moon and all I’m doing is working non-stop but only on things I love. My whole life has been one big hump and I’m o-v-e-r it. Finalmente!

I remember once Donna Cunningham made some remarks about how Pluto transiting opposite your natal moon can mean a separation from or a death of your mother or a mother figure. I cranked up my astro software, dialed it back in time, and OMG there it was, my mom died during my Pluto opposition Moon. I’m kind of glad I didn’t know that, back then.

ah, but now we all do . . .

But this is a very rare transit. Look how slow Pluto goes, about 2/3 of a degree per year. And it would have to be approaching opposition when you were born, within 60 degrees or so. I figure less than 10% of all people would ever encounter a Pluto opposition Moon transit.

I’m one of the fortunate few. Did the Pluto/Moon opp back in my early teens. My mother did not die, but she did do something that completely killed off any trust or love I might have had left in my heart for her. Fear was all I felt after that. My daughter was BORN with Moon/Pluto opp. Volcanic emotions. And surely some kind of continuing karmic story. I am deeply aware of this every day as she came configured with “loss of mother” built in. I don’t believe all Pluto/Moon contacts are tragic, but they are never lightweight. Most of… Read more »

Hi all. Anyone else having or had Pluto travel over natal Jupiter? Had such a simplistic view of it prior to the event and am recognizing the radical difference between luck/ optimism and opportunity expansion. Like get rich quick versus working talents for profit. I know this is probably like junior level stuff for most but with youthful outlook as a benefit and a stumbling block the subtle shift for me from total child chasing the sun attitude to sitting still on the good stuff and letting the inner child express to grow and nurture my life permanently is like… Read more »

There is a wonderful expression “Being In The Mush” – its about caterpillars metamorphosing. If you cut open a cocoon during the metamorphosis, you don’t see a sort of half-caterpillar-half-butterfly – you see a grey mush. The caterpillar becomes all primordial goo before it rebuilds as a butterfly. If undergoing a serious metamorphosis, sometimes you have to just Be In The Mush. Its grey and gooey. You can’t rush it. But just knowing that you ARE in the mush means that you know that you ARE metamorphosing and that you WILL become a butterfly. At least you are not still… Read more »

Also, Pluto has been fire bombing my seventh house, making my world a little lonelier than uzj. But everything seems to be lightning up these days. Coming out feeling stronger alone, rather than weak and in that relationship.

weathergirl

Actually, Mike Brown and his team were also responsible for naming Haumea and Eris. If you read up on the discovery of Eris, you realize how apt her name is: the discovery of Eris is what tipped the IAU to demote Pluto and the firestorm of publicity and dissent among the general public and astronomers (amateur and pro) led Brown to say that Eris’ effect almost made him a believer in astrology.

Almost.

True, very true. I think there was a process of disappointment and continually dashed hopes. But during that whole time, my heart was still in gear and I could forgive anything. When I took up astronomy as a profession years ago I realised that there was so much more to being a good astronomer than just being a good scientist. I really think that if you choose to do astronomy you should take it on as the form of art that it is; and this means you have a responsibility to pay attention (if not homage) to its long and wondrous lineage. As scientific astronomers the community’s decision to downgrade Pluto was rational enough, but as custodians of the astronomical tradition their verdict was at best historically naive and at worst… Read more »

Well at the risk of quoting Astrodienst wholesale (relax ! No philosophy this time !) Every few years we hear the same old news from critics of astrology, mostly astronomers and physicists who know nothing about astrology. They argue that the signs of the zodiac used by astrologers do not correspond to the actual constellations of stars on the sky. They say that the real star constellations have been shifting relative to the astrological signs by nearly one month in the course of the last 2000 years. High energy brings attention to itself. If you are not clear about what you really want or need, it will confuse you and you may end up mired in someone else’s dramas. These gifts are your birthright, but many feel disempowered and you must be ever more aware of where you are at and where others are at for your own protection and happiness.

Andie, have just (in past couple of years) been through Pluto opp my Venus/Vertex/NN in last degrees of Gem 29.59/0 Kataka, then opp Mars at 3 deg Kataka and now app opp my Moon at 9 deg Kataka. Hell, absolute hades, but grateful at the same time if that makes sense. Am now meeting authentic men (single gal). Batty Aqua who has mesmerised me and gone predictably awol and now a gorgeous Kataka soul (who has Pluto on his Moon in Cap opp my Moon in Kataka) – and he’s a Mystic subscriber – shhh, he could be reading this!… Read more »

Sounds good FF, lots of luck with yr fellow MM Sub! Am Venus, Sat and Merc in Cancer, I know that feeling you describe. And NO I REALLY don’t want a tumultuous marriage, this is the first time I have felt peaceful and supported in my life, it’s ace. But I understand your point, passion and tumult seem close companions, but I don’t feel the need for tumult while I do for passion atm. We shall see where doziness gets me… πŸ˜‰

Yes I probably do want something stable but right now enjoying the anticipation and not knowing (hate it too at times πŸ™‚ What was I thinking re that comment – I’ve been through tumultuous times with last marriage – Saturn over Leo Sun followed by Saturn in Virgo (7th house, over my Uranus/Merc/Pluto and opp natal Saturn while Uranus transit opposed from my first house!!) Weirdly this Kataka is born on the same day as my French Kataka but different year – older than me, French Kataka was 14 years younger. He has Sun, Merc and NN in Kataka and… Read more »

Arrgh, why does that happen? I attract people born in the same week all the time! It’s so incredible. Btw, I think it’s good to examine that comment about dozy marriage! It’s something I see girls too often do – seek dramatic excitement in relationships instead of challenging themselves against the World and accepting the relationship as a harbour. Anyway, I had to learn that my partner was not a statue to hurl my drama’s at emotionally. That he was my friend and he would help me use my energy for CHANGE in the world. It was not loving of… Read more »

I’ve been watching doco’s on space over the last few months where they have left out Pluto completely…

Bgem: Where’s pluto?

Dr Aqua: It is a dwarf planet, they don’t count it.

Bgem: 😯

& one that said it was impossible that planets can impact people: they’re billions of miles away smirked the scientist.

He won’t be smirking when Saturn is riding his ass about town… 😯

As Mystic said: ‘Remember, astrology came first.’

Forgot to mention that when Pluto was cruising over my MC and in opposition to my Venus in Gemini, it completely blasted my work and love life with some common sense. It was a massive change and took me onto a new path.
