For The Love Of Bast

Dita Von Teese with her cat

Suicide Blonde

This is my fave pic of Dita Von Libra ever!   She and her cat are at LAX

The cat is named Aleister, after the Occultist and creator of the Thoth Deck Aleister Crowley.

I always thought she did more than just dabble.

Do you have felinophilia? Check out your Catty Astro.

Asteroid Ubasti is currently in LEO – purrfect  – and trining Lilith.

A newsletter from our vet contained these interesting cat facts: * Cats are the most popular pets in the world * A cat uses its whiskers as feelers for navigation and to determine the width of an opening before squeezing through * Scientists have discovered that a cat can be either right-pawed or left-pawed * Cats sleep on average 13-14 hours per day * A cat can jump up to seven times its height * The cat’s clavicle, or collarbone, does not connect with other bones but is buried in the muscles of the shoulder region. Cats have always been one of my favorite animals. I have a norweegian forrest cat named Bobby. My family has always got cats free. Good looking cats too.

I have a cat that I got from my cusin’s uncle. He is brown, white and fuffy. The vet will say to him “your too pretty to be a boy”.

I have Ubasti in Leo where I also have my IC.

And my cat was born sometime in November so he is either a Scorpio or a Sagittarius. :p

Hey is there a nutritionist in the house? Can being iron deficient make you feel emotional?

nat

May 29, 2011 7:01 pm

I think he bid us ‘aloha’. Again. Yes, you can feel more emotional (and irrational) when tired and iron deficiency is linked to fatigue. If your long-term stored iron has dropped to low levels it can take 3-4 months of extra supplementation to bring it back up. The idea that having a ‘good steak’ will cure iron deficiency is a myth. My advice: get a blood test now to determine the iron and ferritin levels. Take the results to a good nutritionist and ask for a 3 month plan to boost dietary iron. Get another blood test in to see… Read more »

Had a Maine Coon/Turkish Van/Persian mix for 10 years, before DVN’s (demented virgo neighbour) un-desexed-unvaccinated cats bit her on the bum and gave her something akin to leprosy. White and fluffy, short legs, claws sheathed by fur that grew to the tips. Never meowed but made a noise like a teddy bear squeak when she jumped and landed. NEVER killed, loved to watch the doves eat, in fact just loved other animals but NOT other cats. Name of Sugar Pearl as she glistened in the sun. Used to sit on the low fence at 5pm to receive pats and’ OOOOH-in,… Read more »

My Ubasti is on my Ascendant and I do have Bast ink on my left arm. It was my first tat and I got it before I realised the Ubasti connection. Meant to be.

My cats are my muses. I write them into my novels. I plan my days around them. They bring me treats at midnight.

What a lovely post. Am so grateful that i was born into a family of cat adorers – a house is not a home without a cat! My grandmum felt sorry for people who didn’t love cats, she thought they were missing out on an essential joy in life. She loved all animals but cats were her favourite – she painted them, wrote stories about them. Ubast in my 12th house, conjunct ascendant (‘Monkey’ conjunct his cushion after a taxing day curled up in front of the heater, in between visits to his bowl). Love and purrs

It’s great reading about everyone’s bonds with their cats. I love cats, I love dogs, hell I love animals. I don’t understand people who say “I don’t like/hate cats” or “I don’t like/hate dogs”. You either like animals or it has to be considered that you may well be completely bereft of any form of humanity/mammality. I do however, understand having a better connection with one type of animal than another. And I really get the connection Dita has with her cat. I once owned a Burmese cat who used to come with us for long walks, without a lead,… Read more »

um.. Jen Scorpio.. I’m not a pet person – never have been (and with five daughters I have plenty to love and plenty of humanity). I don’t ever have an urge to cuddle a kitteh (or take one for a walk on a leash!) or pat a mutt. HOWEVER I believe I have a healthy respect for animal life and cannot bear cruelty toward any living creature (have been known to cry about a tree being cut down) and I ADORE birds – not caged ones, the FREE type. That’s how I prefer non-humans. Completely get the whole anthropomorphisation thing… Read more »

Taurean Alchemist, my point wasn’t confined to pets only. It was meant for animals, which include pets as well undomesticated animals. You like animals, you don’t dislike/hate animals. You connect with different animals, but you connect with them just the same, and more importantly you respect all animal-kind. I absolutely respect your connection with animals and I think your love of birds sounds fantastic and beautiful.

I don’t like cats much because of the damage they do to wildlife. And before you say, well, that’s the owners, – if your cat goes outside, it’s included in my dislike because unless it has no legs, it kills things. I don’t like dogs because many of their owners don’t train them and seem to think that they are really children. Dogs are not people and should not be given the same rights. They are dogs. I like trained dogs that keep right away from me and my child in the park, that never appear on any beach or… Read more »

Wow, that’s a strong opinion. I agree with some of it, though disagree with a lot of it too. I think a lot of it depends where you live. My father grew up on a farm in the country where all cats are barn cats and don’t belong in the house. They have a job and that is to kill mice in the barn. All my cats have been exclusively indoors because I live in an area with a lot of traffic. While my dog is well trained I always walk her on a leash, because as you say they… Read more »

Lauren, I totally agree with you. I absolutely agree that we should look after them. BUT …there is a west African saying my ex-husband told me – it’s probably universal, but it translates as ‘My freedom extends as far as the next person’ Domestic pets are not necessary. They are nice to have, sure, but I see the transferrence of love and care (whole aisles of supermarkets devoted to petcare products kinda gets to me) onto a fairly pointless animal who has been bred for the purpose of being a companion is a symptom of a society that has lost… Read more »

I understand where you’re coming from. I’ve loved animals ever since I was a child. I had stuffed animals as toys and never had any interest in dolls. In truth I probably felt more of a connection to them than I did other people. I was very shy and sensitive as a kid, but I wouldn’t say that feeling more comfortable with animals than people makes me an inferior human. I think, in my opinion (which, granted is a Western opinion) that some people have a more intuitive connection to the natural world than others, but I can differentiate between… Read more »

No, you’re not being preachy! I grew up in the country and was taught to respect all forms of life. I too had an enormous collection of stuffed animals as friends when I was a child. I love animals. But I love them more in their wild state than domesticated. I don’t need to own them to love watching them and to be able to interact with them, albeit on their terms not mine. My point about the dog vs children is yes, I know what dogs do when they’re bored, they are far more irritating than any child and… Read more »

Having parrots in your backyard would be very cool indeed. I marveled at the sight of them (fleeting as it was) when I visited Australia and would see the occasional flash of lime green or hot pink. In my area of the northeast US we don’t have the colorful birdlife that the tropics have. I did have a macaw in my backyard pine tree once. Must have escaped from someone’s house or got lost on its migratory route. It screamed for hours in the wee hours of the morning, until I finally coaxed it down with a bowl of oranges… Read more »

I love all animals, and I also don’t understand the love/hate of some animals either.
I have three cats that were strays that picked our family to move in with. I don’t think I have any plants that explain the cat connection in my life. But, I currently have three and feed 5 more strays outside.
If I walk in the neighborhood a cat/kitten is sure to appear or follow me.
Maybe my essential oils smell like catnip?
