Mars-Neptune Dreaming

Filed in Astro-Decor

Guillermo Del Toro Interior houseThis is the home of Guillermo Del Toro – film director (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Hobbit)…He is a Libra (Sun conjunct Mercury) and he has Mars in Leo square Neptune in Scorpio square Jupiter in Taurus.   It’s the latter aspect that I think is in play here. This is some BIG dreaming:

“…The word he uses is “bibliophile” — loving them both for what they contain and what they are as objects. “We are animalistic creatures,” he said. “We need talismans.” He said he went into debt so that he could have an entire house that serves only as a place for his books, with seven libraries in seven rooms. (“I”m a very, very organized hoarder.”) He’s currently building an eighth room, the “Rain Room,” where it will rain 24 hours a day — rain and lighting will always be lashing against this room’s windows, so that he can always write in a thunderstorm.”

:). Thanks for this. I’m a LIbra sun conjunct mercury with mars in leo square neptune in scorpio, with the moon also conjunct neptune. My mother gave me this movie. She rented it and asked me to sit down and watch it with her and the night we watched it my son was in an airplane over the Sierras during a bad storm. She put it in the player because she had always wanted me to see it and also to keep my frayed nerves pacified. This is my childhood! I told her. And she said she knew that 🙂

Excuse me, while we are on the Mars-Neptune Dreaming, I have to share this:
http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/cocky-assange-seeks-spirited-erotic-noncomformist-20101215-18xgm.html

Does anyone really dislike Julian Assange for wanting to date an intelligent, spirited, erotic, non-conformist? Smear campaign FAIL!!

Another person who just discovered I might like a little more (that’s assuming that he really didn’t act unkindly to those ladies of course).

I have Mars 7 Leo sq Neptune 15 Scorpio trine Jupiter. Ahhh books, rooms, secret rooms, thunder, lightning, driving rain, relentless snowfall, howling winds, giant leaps of creativity ===] !
The fake storm room – er … no. I’d know it was fake, I’d queue into and go nuts listening to the machinations of the relays, pumps and motors needed to keep it all “stormy” and I’d be frustrated by it all and wish I’d just used that money to help others.

Whoa – “Libra (Sun conjunct Mercury) and he has Mars in Leo square Neptune in Scorpio square Jupiter in Taurus” – that’s my chart exactly. I am a bibliophile in a big way, and a fantasy lover. If I were wealthy, I would definitely build myself a big private library (probably out of salvaged estate wood). I’d rather a real thunderstorm, but I’m open to fantasy environments – drawn to them, in fact. My idea of the perfect home is a collection of stage sets that you can move through as the mood strikes. (Thanks for the accidental reading, Mystic.… Read more »

I love this. I am a Mars conjunct Neptune, born 3 years later than GdT, but the obsession with thunderstorms really resonates, and the bibliophilism. As kids, we all would migrate to the roof of the house in the stifling summers and many a storm I spent either up there or in the boughs of the Poinceanna tree. I went into Pan’s Labyrinth with expectations of far greater horror than was there, mars and neptune in scorpio do not shrink from horror, most of us, for one reason or another, have had enough of our own that we have made… Read more »

I can’t believe the excess- he went into debt to house books… I guess it shows what he is willing to give to his creativity but that doesn’t mean I understand where he’s coming from there. I saw Pans Labyrinth for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it has haunted me in a very bad way ever since. I will never watch that movie again- it was just horrific. I know the movie is based on history of fascist regime in Spain and I wasn’t expecting a fairytale but there was no comfort whatsoever in that labyrinth.… Read more »

I found this movie equally haunting and don’t know if I can ever watch it again.

I was unsettled by it also, but then it is a horror story.. I think that it harks back to the original darkness of fairy tales. Those themes of loss of innocence and tragedy. In a way, it felt truthful to me that it seems the girl dies and goes ‘home’ instead of finding peace during a horrific period in Spanish history with her family. Definitely a story about a child I wouldn’t show a child!

I completely hate the idea of a fake thunderstorm. I love thunderstorms but I definitely could not be inspired by a fake one basically because I’d know it was fake. It’s like a fake diamond or a fake rose.

Yes, it would drive me mad to have rhythmic rain or five second intervals between water splatting on the window!

A Libra you say? No wonder Pan’s Labyrinth was pretty to look at, but disappointing. Nice house though (I’m a slight hoarder too), except for that stupid monster blocking the way to explore everything.

whatevs

Can you expand Steph? am interested to know what was disappointing? I saw another of his films and was disappointed but pans labyrinth I liked – ending was a waning energy/anticlimax I thought but I liked the whole fascism subtext. He did that orphanage one too with the weird children and the dolls? am I right in thinking that? lame. others loved it though. Thought it was scary, I thought it was pedestrian and wished I had some snacks to pass the time – wondered if I missed the point as a result of my lack of interest. But sometimes… Read more »

Yeah, it was the ending that killed it for me. There wasn’t enough fantasy in it for me as much as a display of escapism, if that makes any sense. I would’ve like it if it was more like Narnia, where the kids stay longer in the “fantasy” world than the “real” one. The fascism thing wass unexpected, and I guess I didn’t get that eitehr. Visually, it was amazing, and I liked that little part with the plant under the bed. I haven’t seen any of his other films, but my Taurean film fanatic friend will probably have that… Read more »

I loved Pan’s Labyrinth. It was more about (in my mind) about how the main character couldn’t deal with reality. You could view the film as all the “magical things” happening in it not really existing at all. The fact that it made a war commentary made me like it even more from an intellectual stance.

I loved it too! It really moved me and I actually cried at the end….. I NEVER cry in films, not even in Beaches. LOL.

Never heard of the mutha nor seen the films 🙂 ….But did know a Mars in Leo 5th, square Scorpio Neptune 8th, without the Jupiter figured in.

It was enough already without the Jupiter…thank gawd there was no Jupiter! lol

His dwelling here in the pix, far too heavy and dark for me and that creature featured there…no thanks…

It’s like one can fill their life up with books/hoard but what do they Really actualize that’s of substance?

Sorry to be a kill joy…I’m going to bed…

Okay, guess I can hear some saying he actualized his imagination through film. With Pisces MC and Neptune trine from 5th, I get that.

When you work in a creative field, it’s important to have an environment around you that allows you to do that. People who are more “thinking” than “feeling” act like creation/writing and art can just be ordered up on command when in fact it is very difficult and almost uncontrollable. Tuning your environment helps. Lots of political pieces were written in prison settings like “Mein Kampf”. Is that a surprise? I doubt it could be written in a spa. :p

Sweetpea
Sweetpea

Yes. True. Woke the other morning at 2:00 am to History Channel piece on WWII….week before that I awoke to “Buddha” piece….(yes, sometimes fall asleep with the tv on…) Ain’t that a dichotomy?

But the WWII piece was actual footage. Why was it important that I see it? It reminds me a bit of now I guess in some ways and that history can repeat itself if we don’t stay aware…

Still with the creatures he features there in the pix above, his world is not my world.

Yes i actually thought that too Anonymous but did not want to sound like a virgo. But really. So NON eco. He is fat as well and fat people generally like a lot of clutter.

Is anyone else clocking the increase in celebrity bust-ups, mirrored in everyday relationships around me, i might add???

Mystic predicted it somewhere because of the venus retrograde but it is still striking.

Fat people are also NON eco.

prowlncat

WTF? the term “fat” is a derogatory, utilised to put down others and has little to no bearing on ecological sustainability. Chronic obesity is linked to poverty and lack of education which are the hallmarks of a capitalist system hiding a class system in amongst its deep dark history.

” … and fat people generally like a lot of clutter.” Leo Socialite, I seriously hope you don’t believe your own absurd statement.

word up prowlncat…. it is a horrible word and as a large person myself i find it quite hurtful, it feels like i get relegated to a small persons value system of what is right and wrong, I resist that! As a large person, I resist your statement nora parsley, I grew up eco and continue to maintain ecological awareness in all actions I take. I resist that as a large person, I get relegated to the ‘war on fat’ and called (probably) obese when I am not, and when ‘normal’ weight for women is compared against constructed images of… Read more »

How come all the fun stuff happens after I go to bed? 😆 Hilarious Capfire…

My Leo Mom, Sagg rising Jupiter in first, was a large lady and she neat as a pin. Everything had it’s place, she put others to shame. She also had Mercury in Virgo and several others in Virgo. I’d need to look at someone chart to get an “ahem” more ~well rounded view~ of how much clutter their ass possibly accumulates….

I had to laugh out loud over your candor- frank and to the point.

One in particular wouldn’t be eco-friendly ever because they are too hedonist to give a damn. Her words not mine.

I am writing a report on sustainability measures.
My thoughts are something along the lines of mumble mumble environmental footprint, wastage, excess consumption mumble mumble

prowlncat
prowlncat

perhaps you could spend the time you mumble to yourself on researching a variety of green and white papers suggesting that small measures, practised consistently, over a long period of time, by at least 20-30% of the population – will yield results, over a long period of time, that have a vast impact over the planet and the lives that exist upon it for some 200 -300 years to come.

Hahaha, that was my thought on reading this too! I think I am a bit in love with him now!

I relate to this heavy sensual quality that he brings to fantasy as I have Leo in 2nd House and Scorp Moon, lots of squares there..
But I never thought of his ‘capacity to bring imagination to sensual life’ IV, that’s another side of the coin though here, isn’t it!

wow I never knew this about GDT. He’s so delicious with the way he makes his fantasies a real part of his everyday life. Doesn’t he sound like fun?

The rain room is really making me think: what would my ideal climatic conditions be? What settings do I like, beyond the ideas set by orthodox interior design?

This is revolutionary IMO.

I WANT his library!!! OMG! dream house! Plus a thunderstorm room? wow!

When i lived in a house, I created….I demanded a library/reading room! It could be a guest room too I conceded but I needed a place to worship books.

Love the idea of writing in a thunderstorm. You could have a lightning room or a mist room (with mood ligting) or a machine that recreates any kind of room – a smoky bar in Psris 1in the 1940’s ala one of the those Star trek movies where Captain Picard spends his downtime in a ganster bar of the 1920’s.

Yes it would be ice to have the storm effect without having the drama. Fab Storm but the power has just been restored and we now have to throw out the contents of our freezer that we only bought yeaterday! It was one of the best storms though, no hail though here.

Not really related to the astro-post, but I hate to hear about food being wasted. As long as freezer door was closed, most of food should still be okay. There are guidelines easily found on the web about how long food is preserved during power outages. Look it up before throwing away.

Thanks IbyI Yep been here a few times, anything that can be kept in the fridge and eaten in the next few days is done but we can only do so much eating, anything melted etc has to go. The trick is being home when the power returns as if it is refrozen it is no good. It was very hot and it had all defrosted/melted. Great post, Mystic ! I love the idea of different library rooms ! I have Libra Merc MC and have divided my books into 3 separate rooms as well. All the inspirational tailismans eeking magic out of every nook is working for him. Very good storyteller, liked his version of Hellboy. Pan’s certainly shows up the dream state front and center. The rain room is interesting, I get great ideas in the shower, but the actual water on my head is key. ha (ps. Peter is back on board to direct the Hobbit)
