Piscean Bookshelf?

Peaches Geldof bookcase on the Selby

Can’t remember where i found this pic but it looks like a Piscean bookshelf to me. Though the stuff in front vibes more Gemini…Thoughts?

And if anyone wants to send me a pic of their Sun-Sign-Typical bookshelf, i may post it here by way of comparison.

I’m naturally hoping for Capricorns with vast How-To-Get-Ahead collections & Scorps erotica tomes…Taurus – cookbooks, Cancerian – self-help. Aries – thrillers starring a character clearly based on the Aries…

UPDATE: apparently this image is from The Selby and it’s the bookshelf of Peaches Geldof who actually IS a Pisces…Cool. And here are some of the ones sent in…

Multiple Aqua…She left the dead spider there as it next to ex-lover’s book. Is some batso Aquarian version of Feng Shui?

Something Fishy….Okay all Pisceans read Jung? What does it mean when you stack the books horizontally as opposed to them being verticle?

Two Taureans. So you see there has to be a means of making music, a slightly tribal vibe, sensuality (the rug) and objects d’art amidst the books…

I think we should do Bathroom Cabinets Of Leos & Librans, lol.

Virgo Sun, Toro moon me used to order books alphabetically, religiously, anally, now my bookcase is ordered BY COLOUR!!! It feels like a big old FU to my Virgo/Saturn self (I like to rebel, even against myself) and I love looking at it every day!

The pic is from The Selby, of Peaches Geldof’s apartment (), although the bookshelf might be one of her roommate’s, but I do get the feeling it’s hers.

The stuff in front def appeals to me, I’m a Gemini and I have and wear most of those things – Lolita-style sunglasses, check: feathered hair accessories, check.

The books appeal to me too, but I wonder if Peaches has actually read them…?

I’ve got a mad amount of books- arranged in genre, quite neatly. No erotica to be seen! I do have a fair amount of crime and gothic novels, though my fantasy/sci fi section is definitely the biggest. My non-fiction shelf ranges from anthropology to vegan cooking to learning latin. I reckon more typical of a scorp is a shelf or desk filled with loads of little boxes and chests in which to hide things. My best friend when I was younger was a scorpio too, and we used to go into Home Bargains and spend half of our pocket money… Read more »

i have just finished reading A Picture of Dorian Grey? Do you this he is a Pisces? eternal search for beauty? Hedonism, transformation of object onto living changing object?

I have a shelf like that, except, having lots of virgo, I have dedicated a whole shelf in the case to clothes that are neatly folded. This way I get the loosey-goosey not-just-books-but-representation-of-the-stuff-of-my-life feel whilst keeping the books separate and orderly. That’s bookcase no 1. Bookcase no.2 is next to my bed and that has healing cards, my iPod deck, reflexology ball, crystals, clock radio, photos, all nestled in around the books that are stored according to mood. need healing? top shelf. Need to record dreams and divulge stories? Diary/writing book section. Need to fall away into literature? Other half… Read more »

Aeris,

You can still buy the Dover Fairy Books from here: http://store.doverpublications.com/0486214370.html.

Also if you sign up with Dover they send you a link to their free weekly sampler of clip art and stuff – very good quality clipart I must add.

Oh lioness, you have ALL the color fairy books, I adore that! I always meant to collect them all, but I think I currently only own one. you’re making me want to buy more books. I ahve 4 shelves empty in the floor to ceiling bookshelves we were lucky to get with the house we’re currently renting.

I have Pisces Moon and I love books, and I have spread all around my desk, bed, rooms, closets and shelves. Having Virgo Sun I try to keep them organized by height and shelves by topics, but they seem to find themselves all over the place again.

My Gemini Sun, Virgo rising, Sagg Moon daughter has one whole wall full of books. Many, many on travel. She lived in Europe for five years. That’s her bookcase behind my granddaughter in the pic.

When we moved from a 6 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom we had to do a huge cull of books, I had one room just for books. Anyway i get together 2 huge boxes full of books, (about 150) and take them (with much difficulty) to the second hand book exchange. The teenage (prob in her 20’s) girl looks at the top 3 books and says, sorry cant give you anything for these, but we will take some of them “if you like”. Now most of these books were in good nick, quality titles etc… I (with great difficulty)… Read more »

nice story david. And a nice outcome for your books. Good on you sticking it to the young bookstore employee with the ‘tude. Geez I hate rudeness, especially in the young and ignorant! I saw a TV story last year about a lady who runs a mobile library for homeless people (in Sydney I think?). What a great service. I am a Cancerian but neither my work or home bookshelves look anything like that! Btw what are ‘chachkas’?

Yiddish ???????? , “trinket”, are small toys, gewgaws, knickknacks, baubles, lagniappes, trinkets, or kitsch. The term has a connotation of worthlessness or disposability, as well as tackiness, and was long used in the Jewish-American community and in the regional speech of New York City.

Man, you’re a walkin’ thesaurus! Haven’t heard ‘gewgaws’ in a while. I learned something – thank you.

Just as I was thinking “my bookshelves aren’t like that..” ..I look over at the bookshelf I’d cleaned just this weekend & sure enough books are stuffed wherever they can fit & there are random bits & bobs in front of them…I also like to break up the books with random objects..my collection includes much sci-fi, fantasy, astrology, various other fiction & philosophies – Osho is a favourite of mine & as I am studying naturopathy – tonnes of natural health, science, nutrition, herbal medicine, etc books…

It looks kinda like mine and I’m a Gem. I even own heart-shaped red sunglasses like those, and I’ve arranged my bookshelves in various ways: some by theme (for ex: my crazy bitch shelf, featuring Plath, Dorothy Parker, Anais Nin, Courtney Love, etc), some by type (all paperback, or all large, colorful hardbacks), and some by color. That part is no doubt heavily influenced by my Virgo moon. Also scattered throughout the shelves are candles, picture frames, rockstar dolls, tarot cards and figurines.

I have Moon, Mars and Ascendant in Pisces, and all of my bookshelves look exactly like that. Just add some dolls in there.

Sweet Lawd, my Pisces bro’s room is LITTERED with philosophy, Anais Nin, Art of War/48 Laws of Power type books, eleven billion classics he’s partially through or hasn’t gotten to yet, and several books about time management/goal reaching/raising self-esteem. Every book has a book mark (piece of paper) or two or three stuck in them.

I think that is embarrassingly Pisces.

Pisces Ex’s bookshelves looked like this, but with more science fiction. When I lent him books he somehow managed to return them completely destroyed. I wish I had more space for books. I have lots of art books (mainly tending towards high-end erotica and weirdness) and standard Scorp written erotica, Marquis de Sade, Story of O, Catherine M etc etc. Also loads of art criticism and theory, philosophy of art, arcane queer theory. So yes, sex stuff. Bedside drawer has even more erotica (amongst other things of which we will not speak). Have a box under the bed of self-help… Read more »

tati…one genre that doesn’t make an appearance in my book shelves is erotica and related things…yet, v recently i had a bit of an epiphany (OMG have just realised that was the past 2 weeks when 40000 planets moved into pisces but still in my 8th house *lightbulb*) about wanting to delve more deeply into such things… i am typically au naturel when it comes to the sack and hadn’t felt the need to brush up/read up/act up much, but only now am i thinking it is an aspect of living i want to delve into. I am very Pisces about my bookshelves, they are not a good description of my taste at all…. I too read so voluminously that the library is the only way that makes any sense…. My shelves have one book here from one style, one from another, one I have been meaning to get rid of, one I don’t like but my mom gave me so I keep it anyway…… I need another shelf actually, and I’d like to buy books, but couldn’t afford all the ones I want, so I don’t buy one or two….. I read a LOT, but have this thing about storage and clutter. I keep only my favourite and likely to be re-read over-and-over books around me. So I could be one of those peeps who freaks some of you out not being surrounded by books.. I have about 4 bookshelves in different places in the house (yes, the erotica is in the bedroom) none of them too massive or overflowing. My local library sees me visit, borrow things, and return them usually once a week. If I actually kept copies of all I read I’d have no space left at… Read more »

I arrange my books by height and alternate between ascending-to-descending and descending-to-ascending every other shelf. I have two bookcases, each full. One has my DVDs and small collection of magazines aside from books and the other one also has my records, cameras, cookbooks, comic books (except for the two on display), art books, and photo albums on it. They both match the colour of my computer desk and the chair I use for my schoolwork desk. Ha ha, I have a Piscean sun and that is absolutely my bookshelf. I have a Gemini moon too and also have random bits and pieces in front of my books like that as well. I also prefer old 2nd hand copies of books that smell funny to brand new ones. They’re more real and exciting to me, even if they’ve got old bus tickets and scribble from the previous owner in them. X, I’m also a Piscean sun with Gemini moon and that is precisely my bookshelf. There’s no room for anything (English major; lots of books) so I end up stuffing them all in various nooks and crannies wherever I can fit them. And I like my other little knick-knacks on the front of them, too. … although, admittedly, less hair-things, more hand-things, although this is apparently another Gemini trait? also also, Scorpion roommate’s bookshelves are stuffed with files I do not dare to open. Her textbooks are outside, shelved into stacked cardboard boxes as makeshift “bookshelves”. She has “Dracula” in giant lurid letters next to “Blood and Chocolate”.

Virgoan Bestie has books arranged perfectly in alphabetical order, exception being if they are part of a series.

Me? The collected poems of Allen Ginsberg next to the Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror next to Literary Nonfiction next to Elements of Style. next to a nail polish bottle and a nail file. and a vintage brooch.

Oh yeah this is a Gemini/Pisces rising bookshelf….

My ex kataka actually gave me a book just because the title was hilarious, yes I have bought books to read but actually I judge a book by how funny the title is.

I mean the aquarius conspiracy…totally! I would buy that book.

Dr Aqua (who owns sqillions of books) & I love hanging out book stores & often point out hysterical titles, the most memorable one to date was ‘Biting the hand that starves you’. 😆

i think a saturn girl book (on anything) would be one of those ‘pocket guides’ that was full of common sense and Useful Information. None of them would be longer than 30 pages and would be 7cm x 10cm. They would be light but with a durable cover.

One could write a whole series: the Saturn Girl Guide to Relationships. Eating (with a small section on etiquette). Dressing well (including How Not To Wear Acrylic). French Men. Office politics.

My bookcases have books a bit sideways like that because don’t have room for some.

No clutter like that in front of the books even tho Gem rising. That would drive me nuts.

But most of my books astro, spritual, self helpish. No non fiction. Non fiction a waste of time to me although I’m sure fun and imaginative to many.

My Pisces friend ex-firey didn’t read many books – or rather he would take his time over one book – very slowly and methodically, almost as if absorbing it into himself. That is exactly my Piscean Mum’s bookcase! Astonishing Mystic! How they are all pilled in like that. Dearest Pisces BFF has boxes like this…. I haven’t been to her new place lately, but suspect boxes may have evolved to be many shelves with random displays of music, books, post-it notes etc… her car is also an evolving bower birds nest of work/life/interests clutter….

Yeah, don’t forget that MM listed laziness as a Piscean trait. The Piscean girl I was dating last year could literally sit in one spot for an entire day, just smoking cigarettes and staring into space. When I’d ask what she was thinking about, she’d stare at me dreamily and say “Nothin’.” And meanwhile there would be no soap in the bathroom, no milk in the fridge… AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!
