Astro-Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes long hair

Ralph Fiennes (WHY is it apparently pronounced ‘Rafe?’) always looks SO Cap, does he not?

Cheekbones, classy, composed & comfy in a tux.

Yesterday was his birthday -his Sun is at Zero Degrees Cap. He’s a Solstice baby – sacred to some Celtic tribe for SURE. More interestingly, he’s got a powerhouse conjunction of Mars in late Leo with Pluto & Uranus. And Moon-Venus-Neptune in Scorpio. Holy Aphrodite, the gentleman is libinal. I reckon Mars in Leo for months & months will be sending him wild.  He’s probably going on that boys boat trip Tiger Woods is doing for Saturnalia. Cruising Capricorns.

And yes, he was brill in The English Patient but i hated that movie. I was in a towering rage at what happened to the Kristin Scott Thomas character for weeks.  Never has a movie needed Bruce Willis more. And I don’t like Bruce Willis but he would have sorted that cave shit out for sure. He would have found a jetpack hidden in the stupid desert or something.

It nearly annoyed me as much as the screen adaptation of Cold Mountain – note: I shall say this v.briefly because i tend to rant about it. The character Renee Z played in that movie was supposed to be African-American.

Anyway, watch Ralph as Mars in Leo triggers HIS Mars…

Loved The English Patient (movie & book & soundtrack & awesome DVD commentary – hard-core love here & stubbornly proud of it);
Loved Cold Mountain (the movie – but I didn’t know about the character racial switch. The dumb things Hollywood does to attract an audience);
Adore Ralph – though I’m still trying to forget about his weird airplane episode (SO unclassy). Adore Kristin Scott Thomas too, for that matter. (Wonder what her chart is like).

little fish

the banality of evil….Schindler’s list.

ggsnaps

BTW, no disrespect meant in my message re the horrors of the holocaust, it’s a devastating chapter of our history, I’m just sayin, in the movie, the man was fine.

Rafe, Ralph, whatever the heck his name is, the dude is out of control hot. Amazing combination of formal classic handsomeness mixed with smoldering sex appeal. Not at all surprised to hear that he got it on in a Quantus bathroom with a stewardess, he probably had a tux on at the time, cuz he just seems like that kinda guy! He’s the kinda dude who would treat you badly and for some reason, you’d just keep comin back for more. He should play James Bond. If you want to see him lookin hot, in addition to Wuthering Heights, check… Read more »

C

One of the hottest out there besides my own Cap, paralysing hotness.

matthew-minerva

Eeeek – HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED!

FireTrine

Hee hee.

davidl

I find him a touch creepy, I agree FT can’t see the reasons for all the drooling.

nat

agree. bit creepy, cold & stuffy in a snobby English kind of a way… and he seems ‘old’ or maybe that is a Cap thing? but don’t let my reservations get in the way of the drooling! Have a nice holiday lambykins x

davidl

thanks natykins, hope you have a wonderful 2010 x

FireTrine

So funny, I would never have imagined so many Rafe fans here… Joseph is warmer. Got to admit I find Ralph a cold fish and kind of like a randy old professor goat. A real goat-fish! Not a bad actor though.

Flamenco Fish

Oh this is too funny – I also hated the English P. first few times I watched it and the reason was I thought Rafe’s character was sooooo unattractive, and I could not BELIEVE that he ripped her beautiful fine cotton dress!!!! I think I was only 15 at the time and as a seamstress type person since I was knee high to a grasshopper I was just so annoyed and shocked that Kristen didn’t storm out right then and there like any self-respecting woman would! But anyway I don’t give a hoot about Rafe – except perhaps in The… Read more »

Yep that movie could have done with Bruce Willis. I actually cried at the end when Kristin Scott-Thomas died … so sad 😥 I had just started going out with someone who I had a relationship with for years … after an intense weekend … it was such a “romantic” film. Aargh. Rafe is rather nice really. Have had a smouldering crush on him for the longest time, ever since Schindler’s List. (That film really messed with my head – I was not at all impressed at myself for finding the nazi camp commandant incredibly sexy 😯) Wuthering Heights… Read more »

don’t buy him a birthday or christmas present … play coolworthy until after march 15 or whenever mars gets it’s shit together and spring a totally amusing gift on him just for larks. Don’t over think the gifting …. when you wander about and see something that your “inner bits” say Get This … then get it. Until then just play with voodoo dolls and Ralph Fiennes DVDs

Ãœber Virgo

Naff boxer shorts with superman or aliens or racing cars on them, or in leopard print.

A sequined g-string. Edible undies. Chocolates shaped like genitalia. An Andre Rieu DVD.

i fell for fiennes in “schindler” too. BADLY! so it wasnt only me. and, really, i dont think he has ever looked sexier. where does that leave us? hahahaha

Ãœber Virgo

What’s he getting you for Xmas tati?

I don’t see what’s wrong with a dog collar, especially if you have a matching leash.

Salacious Sagg

Hey tati Cap blokes do love pressies, though they can be such tight arses themselves. As he is a randy sort, how about a card game from the sex shop. Or blind fold him and say you have prepared a special meal for him. Serve the meal wearing a French apron only! ; >

Ralph Fiennes………sigh….totally droolesome tot he max. I loved English Patient but was so mad that Kristin Scott Thomas was wasted – stupid bloody men etc. How irrational of her stupid cuckolded(sp?) DH to shoot the plane down etc.

Tati

thanks guys ! …. Think he would run a mile at the dog leash or blindfold … He thinks he’s ‘dominant’ but I suspect he’s just a bit macho … don’t think he quite knows what ‘dominant’ really is yet lol. Sequinned g-string or edible undies would be appreciated by Scorp man, suspect would be too tacky for this one 😀 a boyfriend once gave me chocolate genitalia, I thought it was very thoughtful. Not sure I can remain cool until Mid March but we will see … Prowln if I wait for my ‘inner bits’ to speak to me,… Read more »

Tati, mayhaps I am too late but Cappos love most things “establishment” even if behind closed doors it means you are dressed as an extremely dour Bank Manager giving him a proper rogering over his latest overdraft. Oops, was that my fantasy or yours? Anywho…I’d aim for something that looks as if you’d just happen to have picked it up with the two spare seconds you had in your fantastic life. If he smokes, a cool lighter. A classy bill clip, presumably from all the money he’s making (and saving as he don’t spend it). An establishment book, Atlas Shrugged… Read more »

Oh, borrow Prowlin’s boots perhaps??

tati

Hmm that’s a good fantasy, excuse me a moment while I contemplate that!

I don’t much like Ayn Rand either … but a book is probably a good idea. As a Scorp I quite like book tokens (gives me the control so I can pick EXACTLY what I want) but apparently this is not so thoughtful so probably not.

Will give some thought to your suggestions. And I do loooove those boots.

aquavit

lol mystic, love the idea of bruce willis coming to the rescue in the film!

i do have a soft spot for the old rafe tho…

Leogroover

i’d put them in the Leo style five food groups LL and nudge out ordinary chocolate.

leonine librarian

They laugh at mung beans I tell you Leogroover…what else do you reckon is in the leo style food group. I vote Champagne as one.

fallen angel

Caviar
Truffles
Godiva
Turkish Delight
Champagne

Definitely no carbs though.

My mum lives on steamed veges, tuna and wheat bix. But she’s got a Virgo Asc so she probably doesn’t count. You know what her latest beef about the world is? That television is going digital so she will either require a new TV or a digital box to plug into the old one. Now she’s fuming (no really fuming … like carrying on and on and on for months about it) that she has to pay for new fangly technology after having spent her “hard earned dollars on something that is perfectly fine the way it is” … now… Read more »

tati

No, she’s hinting none too subtly at what she wants for Xmas. 🙄

prowlncat

uh uh … you don’t know my mother. I tried that one. Oh mum for fuq sakes I will buy you a bloody TV for Christmas … anything to shut you up. But noooooooooo … then I get a rant about how “that’s NOT the point and …” blahdefuqingblah….

She’s got a Moon and Mars in Gemini and a shitload of other planets in Taurus, so aside from being a Leo I think she just enjoys complaining loudly just for her own amusement.

leonine librarian

Prowln, on the surface it sounds like she is creating her own debate, and hell that line up of planets is suggestive that she’s fully armed to argue a point to death, beyond death over the river styx, and is probably still shouting at the ferry man from the edge of it all …. BUT maybe she also doesn’t do change well and going digital is just another flaming change to deal with….sometimes not doing change well is tied to not feeling you have all that much power in your life (which I imagine would do an aging leo’s head… Read more »

Salacious Sagg

Prowln, I am with your Mum. I don’t know why the bloody hell they keep updating gadgets that work perfectly well. I complained bitterly when I had to get a set top box. Every stupid show since then stops and starts as the screen freezes from time to time. I felt like taking an axe to the TV the other day and my Aries daughter observed me in shock as I ranted. I mean even computers, I am so bloody tired of updating programmes and documents not opening as its been sent in an updated version….blah blah …blah…rant, rant. Prowln… Read more »

ROFL you’ve met her haven’t you LL???? *chuckles*

Salacious … that’s ain’t Ludditian …. that’s just commonsense irritation at all the stoopid shit crap useless upgrades that we don’t need and cost a fortune and and and and …. where’s my freakin can opener, I’m gonna go hide in the bunker with ya! 😉

leonine librarian

Prowln seriously THAT line up of planets gives me pause and I may not ‘know’ your mother personally but damn there are a few versions similar wandering about scaring the crap out of people.

Also you must have more backbone than most to survive childhood…well done you.

prowlncat

Every time I watch a Ralph Fiennes move I develop an embarrassing and completely uncontrollable drool reflex and get vaguely obsessed with him for at least a couple of weeks after. I have to watch it when getting a Ralph Fiennes hit. But then I have a bizarre attraction to Mars in Leo men … it’s weird that when I hook up with a bloke and get their birth deets enough to pull together a natal chart viola .. they’ve usually got a Leo Mars and quite often too an Aqua midheaven. Weird. Anyhoo back to Rafe the Rake …… Read more »

Prowln have you come across vodka chocolate beans at the supermarket yet? They’re dark chocolate shaped like beans with vodka in them and I’m sure somehow they’re good for me.

fallen angel

HAHAHAHA… oh LL!

Of course, they’re good for you. Vodka fueled Russia so surely there is worth in the drink!

prowlncat

I’m sure they are LL but being the scumbag pennypinching Crabacious type that I am I’d just go buy a slab of dark chocolate and a large bottle of Absolut. 😉

leonine librarian

plan b prowln…I’m learning a lot from another scumbag pennypinching Crabacious type we find really good stuff in charity shops…and then get all smug over drinks about our sustainable cred.

prowlncat

absolutely LL … we Crabs are canny about everything. Including our vices! 😉

prowlncat

the we proclaim how virtuous we are by recycling, borrowing, buying bulk etc etc

we have excellent survival strategies.

lib rising ramzilla

Prowln, Absolut?? No no! Yick yuck can’t stand the stuff. 42 below. Or Stoli…

fallen angel

YES! I know what you mean Prowln..like I sort of sickly had the hots for him as Voldemort. But that was during the Abduction.

There’s something strangely olde world about him that’s sexy, kind of restrained get-hot in the closet kind of stuff, while the help are gathering clinking glasses and cleaning up.

I was quite surprised to find out he was married to an older woman for a while.

prowlncat

mmmmm helpfully restrained in the closet with Ralph Fiennes ….. ~drool~

scorpalicious robot

prowlncat, have you seen him in Wuthering Heights with Juliette Binoche? *drools*

He’s soooooooooo sexy. Might hire it again over the holidays – perfect for the Venus/Pluto astro. 🙂

prowlncat

hahaha scorpy … Venus/Pluto juju via a DVD. I love it. Better than the real thing which just does one’s freakin head in!

fallen angel

Eeek this is scaring me, I have just dallied with a Cappo! But he a January one so perhaps not so bad… oh I am going to stop worry-warting about this. Seriously.

Lexicorn

You know, we are starting to get a bad name… First Jude Law, then Ralph, now Tiger… But you know, when you look like those boys do (ok, perhaps excluding Tiger), wouldn’t it be wrong not to share it around…

Tati

Correct.

Capricornucopia

Mystic, ‘Rafe’ is the traditional and correct pronunciation. It’s a Saxon name, so has been pronounced like that for yonks. It’s only really recently that it changed to being pronounced like Ralph Cunningham from Happy Days in the Commonwealth English-speaking world, as in only a couple of generations recently. I vaguely remember reading in one of my linguistics books that the change was sparked by the American habit of pronouncing things as they are spelled, like the difference in pronunciation between Edinburgh and Pittsburgh. As their film & tv stranglehold swept the world, so did their pronunciation, stamping out the… Read more »

whatever

mad to think the cultural hegemony extends that far – happy days has a lot to answer for, I’ve never met a man of italian extraction who can punch things better and now this rafe business.

Capricornucopia

Ha ha!! I apologise – I’m so tired today that fictional Ralph was the ONLY person who came to mind who pronounced his name that way. AND I got his last name wrong! Oh the shame! I should never type tired.

whatever

LOL ralphs are pretty thin on the ground the only other one I can think of is ralph wiggum of simpsons fame – didn’t even pick up on the ralph malph vs cunningham (now THATS a word – a trickster swine?) does that mean he’s actually rafe mafe? O and ralph nader – rafenader? – sounds like the name of a “personal” appliance.

leonine librarian

What like a victor that you actually have a clue how to use?

whatever

Well the rafenader would be an egalitarian device for people regardless of socio economic background, race or literacy level – and it would be carbon neutral running on solar power and doubling as a translator or a palm pilot. I thought the victor looked like a fairly straight forward double ended crowd pleaser – but I didn’t go to the site and check it out so maybe I had it all wrong – wouldn’t be the first time – I thought that thing could do with some ribs or texture tho.

scorpalicious robot

Ralph Lauren.

Capricornucopia

‘Rafe Mafe’ has had me in hysterics for the past few minutes! Brilliant!

xox rockstar libran publicist xox

Taura sister goes me non-stop for using ‘sofa’ – which she believes to be americanized (word?) ‘couch’. aside from it being common term in high-end interiors industry (which is europe) – is french word. I LOVE sitting on the sofa, & don’t sit on couches!

works both ways is the point xox

whatever

hehe it’s not the sofa that gets me it’s the Z in americanised – microsoft spell check has caused an avalanche of that. I’m joking tho it’s just some words but it’s amazing how the “english” language has changed since I learned to write it. my family had some weird words for stuff – made up words but they never told you as a child it was not a real word so i was dispatched off into the world using weird words unawares. And funny stuff like “brunch coat” what the hell? It’s like the smoking jacket only you eat… Read more »

alex

Oh no. Brunch coats are real. I had a brunch coat as a child. And am considering getting another one. They are less in the way than a dressing gown with their sleeves that trail in the butter but still cover more than pyjamas (or nothing in my case).

Bring back the correct pronunciation of Ralph. Also bring back brunch coats.

whatever

thank goodness someone’s cleared up that brunch coat thing – functional for reaching over jam etc. I’ve never been able to work it out I kinda like it now. Bed jackets anyone…?

leonine librarian

I wasn’t allowed at the breakfast table without my brunch coat.Twas deemed immodest.

Martz

Except that technically, the -ize spelling the older English form and is the preferred spelling for the Oxford English Dictionary. The -ise is actually a French affectation (though totally standard here and in the UK).

Ãœber Virgo

Nice explanation Capricopia. I didn’t realize that about the English pronunciations but I’d noticed Americans do terrible things to French and Italian pronunciation. Eg. Oregano, entrepreneur.

Kiki

I love Kristin Scott Thomas. Is she a sagg?

leonine librarian

The only Cap I ever went out with looked like Ralph except his eyes were viking blue and he had white hot blond hair.

Lexicorn

I’d cruise with that Capricorn any day. Mile high or at sea-level…

fallen angel
