Astro-Query From An Aspiring Piscean Seductrix

“Lady Mystic,

For all the astrology info out there on the net you are my one and only because I love your attitude. Your blog is a pleasure to read AND informative. Also the way you mix astrology/herbology/life-ology together whilst remaining awesome and normal – there are some really bizarre people out there on the net.

Now, my point: I have an astrological scent query.

What part of our astrology do you think it is that perfumes/scents appease? Venus? Sun? Moon? Or is it house-related? Also, do you think particular signs are attracted to particular scents? (send recipes for enchanting virgos with strong libran influences my way, please! and don’t say ‘soap’). I have read your few astro-beauty posts about perfume, which do suggest certain signs are more into perfumes than others, but that’s not quite what I mean. I am particularly asking about scents and smells that may be more or less attractive to some signs, not just fashion related desires for latest gimmick perfumes from celebrities etc.

Small anecdote:
Me: pisces with venus in pisces. Him: virgo with venus in libra.
So I start seeing this guy 9 months ago, realise very quickly my personal hygiene/turn-out needs to be upped a thousand fold (piscean with aquarius moon – I can be a little all-over-the-place). Enter my secret weapon: The Signature Scent. At 23, I buy my first perfume for myself. I saw one picture of the bottle for L de Lolita Lempicka and that was it for me (look it up – total mermaid fantasy! As if I could resist. Plus, not a mainstream perfume – an added bonus). Looked up the notes: bitter orange, cinnamon, immortelle, vanilla, woods, solar notes, musk – didn’t sound too bad! And as it turns out when I got my hands on a bottle, I liked the scent!
Anyway, it becomes my one and only scent. Everytime I am going to see him, I am wearing it. Now I am in Paris and we’re not going to see each other again ’til late January… innocent man seems to think the fact that the side I slept on in his bed smells like me (read: reeks of my perfume) is a sentimental nicety given to him by the universe. Bwahahahaaa. I also plan love-letters soaked in it.
What do you think of my scent-warfare, is it enough to keep me active in my virgo-with-venus-in-libra’s thoughts?

Keep on being amazing,

Nancy, The Aspiring Piscean Seductrix”

Dear Nancy, The Aspiring Piscean Seductrix,

First of all, congrats for knocking out my formatting! How strong is that Lolita thingie stuff?  That it can alter my font/format-set up?  Jeez.

2nd:  Flattery works. Thank you.

3rd: Scents Virgos like? See Virgophilia. They like EARTH. Wash in organic soap (something  organic and citrussy) and then exfoliate. Shower again. Apply clean organic body oil. Then achieve orgasm. Then go and exercise. Follow  up with some weeding and/or baking. Dab a bit of vanilla behind your ears to appease his Libran bits.

4th: Yes Scent warfare works but you need other things to back it up. And, should he ever – for some bizarre reason – go off you, or the thing cools, you can look psycho sending perfume drenched notes. Scent was how peeps used to trace adultery in the days before technology and strong laundry products.

5th: The Olfactory nerve is the only nerve stemming from inside the brain (close to the limbic region/memory et al) and that is outside the body…ie: near the nostril opening. Do i have that WAY wrong?

6th: Is the Virgo to be the only victim/beneficiary of your Scent Warfare? Do you have other weapons?

7th: There are stacks of perfume postings on this blog!

8th: I am insane for L’Heure Bleu (The Blue Hour) but too freaked to smell it lately in case it has been tweaked by the same peeps who’ve stuffed up some other scents i’ve loved. Accountants should not be allowed to redesign classic scents made with natural essences by substituting olfactory fragments gleaned from fly spray components.

9th; Libra & Pisces are the most scent-aware signs. I whacked some patchouli oil (essential pure) on last Tues, washed several times since – obviously – and the Piscean Beauty Fanatic hugged me today and beamed with delight- “You smell divine- is it patchouli?!”  Now, THAT is a nose.

10th; If you really want to scent-attack the Virgo, incorporate some essential oils (more emotional-psyche affecting) and/or a scent that is way harder to get than LL. Consider also rushing in through the balcony doors, thunder outside, in your wet nightie or whatever and with huge bunch of peonies…

Exceptional post MM. You write like a mermaid/angel/Egyptian princess. What were you in a past life? Patchouli does it for me . Stl got a bottle from way back. Im always a sucker for that masculine smell too. I spent a l lot of time down the beach lately and there is such a fresh clean smell down there.
Last night I could smell the dust coming again as the light changed to yellow again here on FNC. Not as bad as Wed though.

A Gold Medusa Medal for your answers, Myst, shall post it with your cheque:)
The Olifactory is in fact closest to the nostrils, the Ephinies oops Ephillium &
exact on 3rd eye. Aroma’s go straight then to Amagdala & Hippocampus.
(love these names) which is memory analysed first to evoke which memory.
Being a Mermaid in my past life, i think peeps smell their best coming out of the sea.

About classic perfumes like L’Heure Bleu. Every day another designer perfume comes on the market. Meltdown & overload complet. Becoming cheaper more bizarre tasteless so to speak, Armani & Ford come to mind. One could easily forget the greatest perfumes of all time like Chanel & Guerlain. So glad so many of you are using Essential Oils & getting The Real Thing. Perfumer’s Workshop, wherever they are/were made the most exotic EO’s like Amaryllis & Tuberose but all that’s left seems to be Tea Rose. Asked a Jo Malone Boutique salesperson ‘why did they mix Mint with Jasmin, why no… Read more »

This is a little off track but this post reminded me of a man I once dated.. I can’t remember his sign. He is a friend of my sisters, he has a particularly sensitive sense of smell. We went out on a few dates until he told me I smelt exactly like my sister…. ew…

BTW, Does anyone have tips about where I can sample smell non-department store perfumes?

places like kleins perfumery – there’s on in fitzroy, perhaps one in syd somewhere? i think i saw a base perfume type section in either myer or dj or late too. Somewhere where they have base notes that you can get blended (for much $$)
or a good health food/hippy shop with essential oils and blends. like perfect potion

Thnx Shell, shall check them out next time i visit Melba (well overdue!).

sense of smell is the foundation of our moral sense as well…

(anthroposophy)

something smells rotten in denmark etc..
something off..

how we tell right from wrong actually… the sense capacity for this…

whatever
whatever

hey anonymous does anthroposophy have any kind of wisdom about situations where you discover you are emitting a smell? In fight or flight situations I find my perspiration changes. It’s always made me wonder if it’s a psychosomatic thing or if it is actually your body telling you the vibrations of the place you are in or the people you are with are not conducive to you being comfortable.

Dogs smell fear.
Humans used to be able.
This is why so many relationships freak out later than usual, because natural smell
is masked.
So it’s logical that we emit aromas for different emotions.
Your own smell is the best health diagnostic.
Trust your body & take notice of the primal, it tells us all we need to know by instant data
but we override it with analysing. Sheesh I do, anyway.
Enhance not disguise.

The most amazing scent is obtained from ‘fresh’ amber. I buy it whenever I see it. Its amber in an early stage. It looks like little brown crumbly rocks. You rub the rock over wrists or neck. I buy it at local markets from stalls that sell product from Nepal, they sometimes have a few rocks. Its expensive, but I have pieces I bought 10 years ago that are still perfect. Its powerful stuff, for males and females.

My favourite and most powerful scent to drive my leo with heavy virgo influence men nuts ( yes, i ‘ve had two) sounds a but similar. Didn’t get it from a market but from a health food shop so itl’s probably a bit inferior to what you’re describing. I think the brand was Eden Botanicals or something like that. Grainy, brown resiny crystals that you only need the tiniest trace of to hang around for days. The scent i have has sandalwood in it too and was really warm and musky, but i remember there was one called Amber and… Read more »

Yes! I had a friend once give me some as a present, cradled in a peanut shell! It was truly divine & even just think-smelling it has opened up a craving for that sweet muskiness in the depths of my brain…

David, the last lot i had was in 88, given to me preciously. It looks like crystals, the resin, just amazingly warming, which fire signs like ‘spose. A large box of it sat in DJ’s for months & didn’t get it, dammit. It was the only ‘commercial’ read swishy one off designer of unusual non mainstream items…aka collector’s items. Amber is truly unique & all the acolyte perfumers on the thread, make The best fixative for when your top notes fade. Bezion is another fixative, vanilla like. Synesthesia coming on…………sometimes a waft of magnolia drifts by me or other lovely… Read more »

Swoon! 3rd point is wonderful. Mystic, could you one day write a seduction recipe like this for each sign?

OMG! I have a major, long-standing, unrequited-ish love-mind-crush on a late virgo with almost everything in virgo and libra (Mas AND Venus in Libra). his moon is in Cancer.
Once I learnt about his libran-ness I began to understand why i constantly felt so loud and obnoxious around him, it’s how i feel around most Libran types. I have also just realised that our venus’s and moons are in opposite signs (Cancer/Cap, and Libra/Aries).

Also the libran-ness explains why he is such a massive player. 🙁

i am most interested to hear more about the above piscean’s success………
xxo

prowlncat

yes yes yes – to the massive player bit!! Mine was too. His crabby moon should make him a little kinder and more sensitive tho’ right?

I like being deliberately louder and more obnoxious than I really am around Libran types – it’s fun to watch them look startled. mwuahaha 😉

I had “a thing” with a Virgo with Libra in everything as well … moon, merc and either venus or mars I can’t remember which one. Oddly enough he reeked of BO. LOL. Seriously he was not into deoderant and thus stunk like a KFC sweatshop … hehe. Actually it wasn’t a bad odour, just really Out There. After me he went out with some bird who dressed like someone’s nana. Seriously she was like a grunge Amish nana. I’m with Mystic in that Virgo’s are attracted to scents reminiscent of work, whatever work that may entail. One Virgo may… Read more »
