An Amazing Post-Full Moon Poem + Your Uranus Return!!!!

Poet Derek Walcott typing outdoors at the beachLove After Love by Derek Walcott

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other’s welcome, and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.

Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Now, the gentleman above is Nobel Prize winning poet & playwright Derek Walcott – the pic is grainy as I tore it out of the mag and scanned it but he is 79. And it’s current!  So he has racked up two Saturn Returns and is just a few years off from having his Uranus Return – in Aries and at age 84.  i was SO impressed by the vision of still-happy, healthy & hot-at-70-something successful poet that i looked at his astro…

Because given that, thank you Saturn, aging/maturity is apparently some sort of stupid condition of birth, it’s awesome to see examples such as Derek W, above.  And the Uranus Return at 84ish is like your reward for having tried to be cool & individuated your whole life long + you’ve had to do the Saturn shit as well.

Okay, so he is 2 degrees of Aqua born in 1930, St Lucia – what a life, his grandmothers descended from slaves, his father a Bohemian artist, he became a teenage theatre critic in Trinidad. And he’s got Moon in Scorpio….Mercury Retrograde (a LOT of poets are born when Mercury Retrograde – i need to get my imaginary astrological intern onto researching this) & DW has Venus, Mars +Saturn in Capricorn. God, anything in Cap makes peeps age well.  Pluto opposes from Cancer. Sex drive. Life drive. Primordial.

Neptune trines his Saturn which is just beautiful synergy for a successful and acclaimed poet – the easy combination of the Muse with the Sage, artistic talent with biz sense et al.  And Jupiter trines his Sun for a beautiful boost of luck + charisma.

This poem of his is SENSATIONAL and so apt for post-Full Moon in Pisces, with Pluto nearly Direct…And maybe, it’s how you feel at Uranus Return???

Full Moon Harvest

I could
if I willed it
go inward
beyond the stratosphere
infinite bliss
the whole of the real
I know, I feel
eternity pulls me
grasping my ambient air
into awareness
all ways my destiny
incandescent transcendence
resplendent artist’s delight

Still
here
in these moments
stuck in migrating vibrations
attached to this Earth
mired (but not beyond mirth,
cosmic inspiration)
miasmically
to throes and woes
undefined transformation
laborious birth
I am dignified, made whole
giving service to vision
corroded, corrupted,
yet shining below that surface
I see
and uncover the light

Oh god it makes me want to cry.
I think because I wrote a similar poem when I was much younger which had a line like “put back the photographs on the shelf” about looking at photos of my parents when young and in love and full of dreams etc before nasty divorce.
I don’t think I want to meet my younger self just yet. I would be terribly disappointed with the me now.

that was beautiful. and it really does feel somehow comfy and familiar exactly what baristagem said, it feels like home!

i really like the idea of greeting myself as an old friend.

i’m much nicer to my friends than i am to myself a lot of the time and this poem evokes those feelings of acceptance and peace and welcome that we so often give easily to others but not to ourselves.

i love it love it love it!

What a beautiful poem – really gets the message across that all that we were looking for outside ourselves was inside us all the time. Don’t look outside yourself for the love that is already there for yourself – that really rocks!!! and very much how i’ve been feeling lately especially this weekend. And the best thing about the wisdom in that poem is the inspiration that getting older is full of a lot of good stuff (like knowing you can rely on yourself). Dear little fish, if someone makes you feel like 3rd best then get yourself outta there… Read more »

Thank you for the poem MM. You always seem to post such gems at the exact right time!! This weekend with the Sagg has been just too challenging for words, making me fell 3rd best, …and I am thinking I might just go SOLO for a while. The poem helped me make up my mind. Leaving work in 3 weeks and leaving him even earlier. I’m at the crossroads yet again.

Well Baristagem – trans Uranus over my Asc and first house not so great – but it coincided with Uranus opp natal Uranus conj Merc & Pluto in Virgo and trans Saturn in Leo (over my sun) followed by Saturn in Virgo opp my natal Saturn in Pisces conj Asc in first house! Helloo mid-life crises. Transformation ongoing as now being zapped by trans Pluto opp to natal Venus/NN/Vertex and Mars conj. Can’t wait to see what happens when all the Aqua action gets into my first house 😕 I’m sure you’ve heard it before Baristagem – but do the… Read more »

Thanks FF, appreciate your comments.
I have been feeling Saturn’s presence since 07 (over 6th natal) & turned 29 in June which I think makes Nov my Sat return. I have embraced health & hard slog over the last few years. I will certainly read up on saturn return post & thanks FF for your advice + good luck. xo

Not to sound age-ist Baristagem, but i never thought you seemed like you were in your 80s!

What a beautiful poem, brought a tear to the eye…. As I’m going through Uranus opposition Uranus (ie. mid-life crisis).. it feels so nice to read that. I’m really feeling like an adolescent again, complete with mood-swings and irrational impulsive decisions. Indeed a feast of life. xx

Gorgeous poem Mystic, thank you. So true how we can treat ourselves like a stranger (or worse) and forget how to really love & connect with ourself, and yet it is really the only thing we ‘have’. Even discovering what it means to love yourself is so hard for some of us. Its such a fundamental thing and yet so easy to get wrong, or at least it has been for me! Got it so wrong for so many years. I think once you are onto it tho’, life is a series of getting to know your self at new… Read more »

Very sweet and inspiring poem.. I sooo wish I had time to be your intern Mystic that would be fab 🙂

This poem expresses EXACTLY how I felt last nite with Pisces full moon…..as it was in my 7 th house…I honored my “relationship” with my Higher Self.

Sweetpea

That’s lovely spirit as that is the ultimate relationship and one that is often ignored because of this world’s distractions to what seems “important”. So much can stand in the way of the Soul’s expression (just being physical for one and the light of the lense being covered over by mud), but I believe we do feel It’s prompting and if we can just follow that trickle, like water, it will soften the mud and make way for a stream of light that will get through into this place and time. Through wonderment and curiosity of life and It’s Mystery,… Read more »

Do love that…. My Dad is 76 and hope he makes it to his Uranus return. Think he might as is very vibrant Aries and taking helicopter lessons now! Meanwhile, rebuilding airplane engines too! He’s a wonderful inspiration who told me he wished he would have known at fourty what he knew at sixty, so he certainly has come a long way, and for that I can forgive the shoddy way he treated my mother. Later on, we should all be as content as that poem and can be with self honesty and humility of lifes lessons. Have Mercury retro… Read more »

Love that poem. It’s at the beginning of Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveler’s Wife. 🙂

GREAT poem mystic – thank you for sharing that. And yeah look re that pluto thang that’s going on… well it’s GOING OFF. It feels etherically as though things are falling away and the bones of them are on view – I am so looking forward to seeing peeps from the distant past on the 11th – nothing makes you more aware of how you’ve changed like a juxtaposition of yourself with other souls you once knew. All that is past and I know on the next day we will all step into the future together as the people we… Read more »

He has a gorgeous voice too. My dad is a few weeks older so shares much of the same astro, with moon in cap. Despite heath probs, has aged very well.

To love ones’ self, isn’t that the real purpose of life’s journey? Especially for saturn in cap 🙂

Yes, please do get the intern onto retro mercury. I and almost everyone I know has that.

Mystic. What a sensational poem. Is it not more apt at a more mature age when everything that one scorned at throughout life comes around at full circle and needs to be welcomed instead of confronted because it is the side of oneself one may have been denying? Why pine for what one once was when one can be that person again in another form – without denying all of the persona’s one might have tried on for size in between? Embrace them/me for all of the flaws [even]? (At least I’ve tried being several different people and enjoyed them… Read more »
