Astro-Gwyneth & Defending GOOP

Filed in Libra

Gwyneth Paltrow tanned blonde hair straightened make up

I’m not madly pro nor anti Gwyneth & don’t mind GOOP, her lifestyle tips site & newsletter. I love reading the detox articles, probably as she and I both have Mars in Virgo and that’s an astr0-signature for getting excited over the prospect of a good cleanse.

Mars-in-Virgo peeps enjoy reading about how they’re gonna cleanse the hell out of their over-yeasty intestines and the strange, scary food additives so unable to be metabolised that they have to be purged. And secretly, Mars-in-Virgo likes to think about attaining some other-worldly alien standard of perfection.

But I am interested in why, when she could be leading a perfectly cool acclaimed artist/sleb/mother etc life, she became so intent upon sharing her fashion, cooking, exercise, fasting etc tips with the whole world??? I do think it’s partly a good strong Mars in Virgo effort to raise the consciousness of people by sharing info from her own personal gurus. People bitch about her & say that her recommendations are elite but i feel she’s actually trying to glean the info from her team & pass it onto people who may never see a nutritionist in their whole life & certainly not a Park Avenue one, or whomever the Gwyneth patronises.

And, of all the things in the world worth slagging off, is The Gwyneth/GOOP really a major candidate??? Plus maybe it’s my Moon in Libra but i don’t care how fake/airbrushed the above image is, her skin and hair look amazing. It’s like she’s actually the Empress of Librans.

The GOOP thing coincided with Saturn into her totally crowded 7th house. That’s right. Her house of love is completely packed with planets…She likes/needs/wants to be in a relationship. It’s almost like one person is not enough – very Libran – but she’s not polyamorous & so she’s defining (Saturn) a relationship (7th House) with the world…

She has Sun conjunct Pluto natally so that’s a powerhouse of a woman – GOOP is just the start. The Gwyneth is a Plutonian. She’ll start something in the next few years, prob based on her macrobiotic/organic etc beliefs and it will be society-altering. Pluto is squaring this natal Sun-Pluto conjunction so there you  go.

And she’ll attract the usual howling down from ye olde hat commentators defending their archaic beliefs.  Pluto is not only squaring her Sun for the next few years, it’s on her Jupiter in the 10th house – Brilliant Career & public profile – so since early 2008 she would have felt an intense desire to transform her public persona to be a more authentic and useful expression of whom she is. And Jupiter – helping the masses!

Plus – she has Uranus conjunct Ceres so there’s an innovative style of nurturing right there…I think The Gwyneth is genius…

Love that this photograph depicts a strength, up close, amazonian quality to Gwyneth. Refreshing. It suits her. I read her twitter every so often and it’s a hoot! Lately, as in the past few years, she seems to have a sense of humor about herself and she is letting that airy-libran-fun part out – it comes through on her tweets and quirky personality with ellen. I also really like seeing another uber libran woman have a uranian relationship I mean gwyn and her husband are never photographed together, they are private about their relationship (problems, pleasures and whatever – these… Read more »

All I’ve got to say is that she needs to get a more flattering hair cut. I also have a long face and I know that very long straight hair makes a long face look longer.

i totally agree! her hair makes her look old. v.unflattering. she looks lovely with waves.

I actually like Gwynnilib for no reason at all (except that she’s pretty in a non-fatale way I’ll never achieve, being darkhaired and petite)!

The less you eat , the less crap you want to enter your body.

Just look at the Ayurvedic system, where its not what you eat its the basic flavors and the order of the flavors that are important. Apparently this is why nearly a billion indians can survive on rice and the five main flavors (sweet, bitter..etc) supplied as pastes on the side of the plate. The idea is that if done in the right sequence the flavors create the right digestive process. Maybe others know more about this ?

I do know that there are many herbs and spices that aid the digestion including a number of those commonly used in Indian food (such as turmeric). I think they eat lots of wholefoods in the form of legumes etc that would supply lots of nutrients as well as fibre (which keeps the digestive tract clean and therefore able to absorb whatever nutrients are taken in through eating). Anyone interested in having a well-functioning digestive system ( on which your health depends) could look up Bernard Jensen’s book about bowel care; it is absolutely fascinating – seriously! And a detox… Read more »

As i was enjoying the rump steak from the finest butcher last week, i decided i must be that carnivore blood type as i blissed & gurgled with delight. First one in 20 years. Not since i attended the Holistic Healing & Massage College. (the great tall blue eyed blonde teacher thought i was radical & it was ‘challenge at first sight’ but i have adhered to SOME of the ways.) Never touched a detox pack or promo now you have validated my dis-interest & intuition, although i think parsley is a miracle cure along with garlic, royal jelly &… Read more »

Here is a story re: report on a study from Japan, coffee turns out to be a great liver protection. There is another story somewhere that states that heavy drinkers should drink more coffee to protect their livers from sclerosis.

I really feel that all things in moderation is the best policy. balance.

hi peg, im assuming you’re referring to my comment before about my liver being in a mess? yeah, i was curious too! there was nothing medically wrong with me etc etc but different tests were showing up massive toxicity in my blood and that my liver wasnt as effective as it could be (not by a long shot). we ruled out metals poisoning and all the obvious usual culprits, and we never got completey to the bottom of ‘why’. all i know is i then embarked on a really informed, supervised overhaul- nutrition, exercise, meditation, supplements (yes, milk thistle worked… Read more »

For some reason Gwynnie doesn’t yank my chain as much as other celebs. But she’s not that interesting either. As for Mars in Virgo, well I don’t have Virgo orbiting anywhere close by, so the goings-on in my intestines is their business as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather cark it at 70ish blissfully unaware of the rampant candida jungle taking over my innards than prolonging life for another ten years or so due to a diet of alfalfa and seaweed. B O R I N G. The only attention I pay to diet is along the lines of “hmmmm… Read more »

barbee, yes it is a bit OCD to be cleansing oneself regularly- thats why peeps with virgo somewhere significant are usually the ones attracted to it- i myself have saturn in virgo natally so it feels pretty natural to me. to answer the ‘why cleanse’ question, if i can, IMHO, is all about living in big cities…not necessarily about putting junk in ones mouth. and its not just about buying a chemist kit- in fact any good detox involves a qualified natropath. the fact is the amount of chemicals we ingest just by going about our daily business is pretty… Read more »

I watched a documentary recently (while I was in New Zealand) which was basically about the whole ‘detox’ concept and whether it had any validity. They worked with 2 groups of women for 6 months. 1 group was fed classic detox food, given a whole array of detox treatments etc, the other fed ‘bad’ food, were allowed to smoke etc. To cut a long story short, they found that detoxing has absolutely no effect on the body. The body itself detoxes without any help from treatments. The scientists involved also from both sides of the argument had to come to… Read more »

i think i read about those results from that experiment.. yeah, i cant deny that there are plenty of examples of ‘detox’ programs doing nothing to improve ones health, especially if the people are basically healthy to begin with. and Stress (with a capital S) is such a huge part of the problem- the inflammation it causes in the body is frightening. that said, and i can only speak anecdotally (though my natro would have the data to back it up), ive seen actually amazing things happen- and not just from adding supplements like good ol’ Milk Thistle, or Dandelion,… Read more »

I SO AGREE DAVIDL i read something about ths a while ago. doctors were saying no actual proof of de-tox.
I sorta like the low stress diet part of detox (no booze etc..which give me spots and fatigue) but the rest, yeah that’s what kidneys and liver are for… stress is the big toxin innit

Sometimes I pick up a magazine in the office at lunch time for something to read. One article was about stars that are up themselves. Among others they included Gwen as saying “I have this ultra wonderful, amazing, privilaged life”.

Until I just googled, didn’t know what “GOOP”was besides stuff that one puts in their hair.

I like her as an actress and I like Chris Martin’s music (although I know many don’t like him at all)…but he’s the Pisces with Leo Moon who did something with his talent…unlike my ex Pisces Leo, Moon…

This is the best image of G. that I’ve ever seen. Probably cause it doesn’t look like her!

I agree with scorp on cleansing, what for? I think it’s kind of OCDish to need to be cleaning yourself out all the time. I understand we all have anxieties… I suppose cleansing is one way of dealing with the chaos that is life.

Yes she is a human being and so deserving of universal love. That said, I really don’t understand librans though I have moon in libra and tons of librans in my life.

Holy spray-tan, Batman!! That’s Gwyneth?
What did she get eyebrow extensions and lessons from a Leo / Pisces (heh) in busting outdated image paradigms? Or just Donatella Versace? I was a bit over the pale soppy thing so suits me.

go, g-love.

Oh puhleeese, where’s the genius in a self-absorbed, smug attention-seeking celebrity? I don’t even think she’s a talented actress. Absolutely hopeless in Iron Man. She always has an annoying smirk on her face. I don’t for one minute believe she’s trying to help peeps. She just has nothing better to do with her time. Nobody is banging on her door for more acting roles are they. I haven’t seen/read Goop and not interested either. I don’t need stupid health tips from a celebrity. Is Gwyneth a qualified nutritionist? Did she invent Macrobiotics. Care factor = ZERO. And I think detoxing… Read more »

Soz, I’m not mad about her, at all…perhaps its the somewhat charmed life. Plus I have a slightly odd irk about the fact that she looks exactly like her mother yet for some reason, Blythe Danner never amazed the public like Gwyneth did… it makes me wonder…

I have to agree with LL regards the projected public image…

I too have Mars in Virgo and don’t really give a toss about Gwyneth, but so totally agree with you on the CLEANSING obsession.
In fact, I take great joy in describing the process of Candida break-outs in the intestines to my friends, while we’re at the pub, drinking yeasty beer… Now I’m NEVER going to stop drinking the beer, but I will most certainly regularly purge the yeast-up!!
Attaining an other-worldly standard of perfection? Me? With Cap Sun + Virgo Mars? Darling I AM otherworldly perfection!

It is easy to take swipes at the ultra-privileged…but in her Libran sun kinda-way she is giving back…I believe she is keeping it as real as those folks can.
I too say Go the Gwyneth 🙂

Just had a quick read of a few pages of GOOP and decided that life is too short to give any more time to that American drivel. As for Gwyneth, I’m afraid I can’t get excited about her, one way or another.

Isn’t it funny how Librans are self-centred but in a much less attractive and appealing way from Leos (for example)? (as a generalisation, of course… I don’t mean any individual Librans out there – I’m sure you are very charming!).

Does anyone else feel like that about the Libran/Leo comparo?

Baristagem

I have Mars-in-Virgo too

I didn’t really take much notice of her until she went into this, I think it is fantastic & appreciate her work much more in this field. She is promoting good health etc by helping people see the bigger picture in life & hopefully not so much the next box office hit.
Good for her & us! 🙂

I don’t know why people hate Gwenth so much. I don’t really like her but I don’t have that hate.

Most Libras I know, including myself, don’t hold back on sharing recipes, cooking tips, health tips with everyone we know. It’s not a secret. If anything it’s like we have diarrhea of the mouth when it comes to things like this. We like it “open source”. Your success through using a borrowed tip is a little bit our success sort of thing.

I am one of the knockers. She annoys me. I don’t even think she is beautiful. Bland, irritating, holier-than-thou with her macrobiotic shite that no-one but the rich and famous can afford.

Audrey Hepburn….. now there is a chick with style and substance.

I haven’t read GOOP but I thought she was heartbreakingly good in “Sylvia” and although prepared to find her annoying on the basis of magazine snideness, and the Oscars speech, my heart just isn’t in it. I love her voice and I think she is fab.

i really like gwyneth! said it many times before in comments here…

i think she genuinely wants to ‘help’ peeps and thinks sharing info shes been privileged to get is the best way to do it. yeah sure we all raised our eyebrows with the kids names, etc!
but i love her detox tips (and her Dr Joshi- his book is good!)

i dont think the pic above is her best, purely because she is actually really gorgeous when she looks natural and all vegan-ista. so the over produced face etc doesnt do it for me. But go the Gwyneth!

I realise you’re not talking directly to me, me personally…just the general naysayers of the Gwen…it’s just that I know it’s irrational…and as Mystic has said there are a lot more obnoxious/harmful people out there…still she grates on me…I did have a second look at GOOP to try to get past some of the grate (it seems deliberately whimsical/artless to me)and did like her newsletter with 5 DVD choices from famous/influential directors. I don’t feel the need to tear Gwen down ala poppy slayers…and I’m not fooling myself that I would have any impact anyways…I put it down to sometimes… Read more »

That pix does not look like Gwyneth at all. Hair extensions, thicker eyebrows & fuller lips.
Wrong dress with long hair, too busy & so is second necklet too busy BUT the baroque mixed
black & white pearls are very beautiful.
Her skin does gleam but still airbrushed!

I remember her appearing for a cooking segment on Oprah a few years back…she made a dish of super-healthy miso-smothered steamed haddock or somesuch that Oprah had trouble being in the same room with!
She’s a positive force, even if not everybody’s flavour. (And tres cool in Ironman!)
