Casa El Scorp

Filed in Astro-Decor, Scorpio

M.K Guth Whitney Biennale

The other day I got an e-mail with the subject heading “Seduced By A Scorpio” and whilst I cannot divulge details, the gentleman in question (it was a male Scorp) had a house with dark burgundy & red velvet furnishings, Gothic candelabras, massive big porno-arty pics & a waterbed with a control panel. And so I am just wondering – as the Moon is in Scorpio & Mars trine Pluto – the ruler of Scorpio – if all Scorpios have such gloriously astro-cliched decor???

My friend the Scorpio Sex Academic doesn’t although her house is right next to a renowned coffee shop AND a Chinese massage place so it reeks (pleasantly) of coffee & mugwort. But super-intense. I went to the house of a male Scorp yonks ago and he actually did have parchment that was scribbled on with Kabbalah stuff, taxidermy (yick) and conspiracy books. Plus a sort of Slacker-Goth decor. Casa El Scorp but never cleaned.

Hmm there seems to be 2 distinct schools of design here – hyper-minimalist (white sheets, clean, bare, abstract, steel) and fin-de-siecle rococo decadent bordello chic with black and red.

Common factor in all: sex toys under the bed, lol.

I veer between both. I thought I must just be unable to make up my mind. But maybe it is the Scorpio uber-decadent/totally ascetic thing.

Currently I have the erotica on the walls, black sheets, slightly macabre decor – more New Orleans-type macabre.

Off to spray the curtains with oil of sex glands, or something.

I painted my living room blood red with black trim and a chandelier. I liked it at the time but I am moving towards a sleek modern vibe now. Dreaming of an ultra mod beach house made of cement-with accents of black abstract paintings and steel. Made my Virgo Sun balancing Scorp Rising?
I still love my Scorps friends ultra spooky and gothic-romantic apts and houses.
Very drawn to haunted houses all things dark and sexy.

Fascinating post! Interestingly enough, I have always been attracted to dark colours – deep burgundy in particular. I also love rugs, have a silk scarf draped over my bedhead and a couple of secret hiding spaces around the house for my goodies. Very scorp indeed!

I think my Cap Moon reins in the OTT Scorpio stuff…but I do have a weakness for Moulin Rouge/Toulouse-Lautrec style decadence, the fin-de-siecle extravagance etc. Mostly I have a more clean-yet-battered kind of Gyspyish aesthetic. Waterhouse,Kahlo and Hokusai prints, fairy lights, the artwork of friends, dried flowers, you get the gist. The only really Scorpy thing is probably my two favorite sheet sets: one red, the other black :]

I like the oriental heaviness of some rooms (rugs and cushions of velvety texture and deep saffron and burgundy colours) but find goth profoundly silly (if such an expression exists). My bedroom is white and clean, too. But a certain fondness for books and tools tied to the bedroom has been noted by some… And I must admit that in my white and superminimal living-room, a big gold-framed mirror and two gold candlesticks with deep red candles have snuck in…

I love this one – my bedroom faces east, has white blinds, white bed linen…. Can I be the not the typical scorp? In previous bedrooms however, I have draped silk sari’s across an open void – lush greens, purples, deep pinks, gold edging. As a child I had a huge gold brass bed with heavy lush drapes in blues/greens and purples. Perfect for the deep snuggle with an adventure story by Enid Blyton!

I am a taurus but my bedroom is a gorgeous deep burgundy red – dharamsala red – that beautiful deep buddhist red, with rich dark chocolate silk curtains – so it is not just scorpios who like to create a sumptuous space for seduction

Yes. Lived with a dear Scorp friend once and we painted the living room _the_ most beautiful red. It took three coats and looked spectacular! Lots of gargoyle bookends, Chinese scrolls, and velvet in the decor too.

But my old Scorpio boyfriend? Nothing dark at all. Lots of cds and magazines. Must be influenced by his Gemini moon.

Yes we can be cliched!! But some stuff we hide, we like to be mysterious and not reveal all at once….when you enter you will notice the red velvet, bordello chic, erotica on the walls, meticulously clean, sensual incense burning, huge bunches of fragrant flowers, big king size comfy inviting bed with bedside drawers filled with an assortment of toys! Yet behind the walls in hidden cupboards we have our occult books, hidden crystals everywhere (like under YOUR side of the bed)and before you arrived we cast our spells! If we offer to cook for you – it will be an… Read more »

LOL I had no idea any of that was a cliche – handy hint: you have to go easy on the curtains as they are so expansive and too much either gets people agitated or coma’d. I had a bad patch a few years ago when people were regularly more than dozing – one dinner party turned into a sleepover – all the catholics went out like a light and the witches carried on merrily without them. It was strange. For some reason that house attracted catholics there was a spate of them. They love a ritual the catholics.

😆 from experience it wouldn’t be the lavender that comatozed the Catholics. I’m sort of Catholic and we do like a drop of ‘whatever’ to keep out the cold.

all the scorps I have known have been absolute clean-freaks. One scorp female comment ” I don’t cook, it messes my kitchen” Others great cooks but obsessively clean after and super organised

I’m the second scorp….. as is my scorp god-mother….

I’m so in the “dislike messy kitchen” club… Unfortunately, can’t apply this to the bathroom as well (as some Scorps like to bathe and clean themselves occasionally, as I do). I’m with a Virgo and together we’re possibly among the cleanest living creatures. Though he’s much worse than I, of course. 😉

Mine, when it is full house & garden splendour has been described by others as having eclectic bordello or opium den chic underpinned with occult / esoteric accoutrements. Comfort and reclining are important. I iron my curtains with lavender oil in the water I put in the iron and people who come over for dinner usually have a snooze in a comfy chair afterwards. Seeing people so relaxed and replete that they are prone pleases me. I also use charged up wiccan incense as the evening progresses to clear or amplify energies aired via conversation and revelry. Don’t ever drop… Read more »

A waterbed with a control panel? Truly-rurly? How hilarious! Did you beg for details? I hope so ‘cos I am hereby begging for details. How did the “control panel” control the bed? Fast/slow; uip/down; vibrate/massage??? Did he not trust his body to have all the right moves? LOL

I was just wondering that also Ms Motown, do these people need all these props/gadgets/dark decor to enhance the mood & seduction?

It’s like you have to say…… Oh right, I think we get it… Your trying to be seductive & you have found a theme, yah it’s a bit dark but you know whatever turns you on… lol

Definitely not! Though it’s probably my Libra rising that makes me love a house that’s all light and airy… and clean. I do love old houses over new every time, and old furniture, but nothing dark and heavy. And while I love velvet and really rich wallpapers and furnishings, it’s definitely an admire from afar vibe. I can’t ever seem to bring myself to install them in my home. Apart from anything, it’s just a bit too obvious…
