Saturn In Virgo & Wheat Sensitivity

Filed in ASTROLOGY

plane made out of bread
Saturn in Virgo coincided with Grain Brain, Wheat Belly and gluten awareness going mainstream. It’s apt as one Virgo symbol is grain or wheat. Yes, I live in an area populated by the Wankerati & so I know it’s easy to make fun of this, but I don’t care. Wheat sensitivity awareness has been picking up since Saturn in Virgo.

More cafes have gluten-free or at least wheat free offerings & more peeps I meet or read about (Tilda Swinton, most recently) – who are not coeliac – say they have stopped wheat as it bloats them/drugs them/makes them flatulent, etc. And that’s before you even get onto the scary wheat shite. The DAY Saturn went into Virgo, a woman showed me a photo of a baguette lovers intestines that looked like triffids had taken over.

Anyway, Virgo is symbolically wheat & ye olde fashioned pics of the sign oft depict the maiden with the wheat sheaves to show wholesomeness & purity. Virgo is also about digestion – sometimes it seems as if half of our official food is indigestible. And Saturn in Virgo seems to have raised awareness of the whole food thing to a whole new level. Even just a few years ago, people laughed at those with intolerances or preferences. Now it’s way more normalized, except perhaps amongst the hardcore gourmet set.

Are you a high-qi & delicately calibrated macrobiotic type, for the most part? Or do you cheerfully eat a baguette for brek with whatever the hell you want on it?

By the by, apparently wheat has three times as much gluten as it did 50 years ago… No one can handle wheat as it is these days, so sad… Pass me a boiled bagel!

I read an interesting theory that links the introduction of cereals as a major part of the Western diet to the increase in arthritis and asthma, amongst many other health problems. Apparently a Seventh Day Adventist sister in the US set up a Sanitarium in the 1860’s to treat people with digestive and other complaints by promoting a meat-free diet (part of the faith). She enlisted another Seventh Day Adventist, to run the clinic, Dr Kellog, a quite fanatical preacher of no meat, alcohol, tobacco or sex. Dr Kellog created a breakfast cereal which became very popular… however the diet… Read more »

I recently had to give up all Hi-GI foods due to glucose intolerance, this means I have to avoid most gluten free flours & foods as most are Hi GI. I am now more gluten-full than ever, eating more wheat products than ever – but high quality ones – whole grains and all that jazz. Never been a real fan of bread – or wheat products before. No Virgo in my chart at all. Scorp with Cow ascendent I love my food whole & strong flavoured. Whole grains, whole veggies, whole meats – if it doesn’t resemble the animal it… Read more »

I think my mother mated with a grizzly bear because when I consume wheat my bod stores it like I’m about to go into a 8 month hibernation gig.

How strange! I have Virgo in Saturn…actually ever since it’s return late last year have been having health issues, initially of the girly variety but now of the digestive variety. I just had an unpleasant test done to see if I’m a silly-yak. After living in Asia I could do the wheat free thing but have a short attention span and don’t want to commit to it if I don’t have to. It’s probably karma for calling my celiac vegen friend “tofu”.

I’ve been wheat free for 8 years – and I must be seriously lucky, cos around the same time bakeries here in Bris-Vegas starting using alternatives such as Kamut flour, Spelt Flour,, and other rare beasties. My issue with gluten free is it usually has corn and/or potato flour in them, and they bugger me up MORE than wheat. So I frequently indulge in organic sourdough breads, like spelt and walnut loaf, spelt with fig and pistacio loaf (brilliant with rochefort or other goat/sheeps blue), kamut bread, which is my all time fave for butter & vegemite on toast with… Read more »

Oh – and in Liguria/Tuscany, the locals still farm spent (espelta) which they have done for centuries, and it is what they use for ALL their breads and pastas. The italian spelt products are BRILLIANT and should be available in your local alternative/organic shop. Its expensive – but worth it.

Also – spelt et al do not taste ‘different’ – I know a mad Virgo who is/was convinced that a clafoutis made with spelt would taste revolting…. hilariously, she didn’t realise we gave her the spelt one, which she recommended highly…..

I LOVE BREAD, especially vegemite and lots of butter on toast. However, I have inflammatory arthritis in my spine, neck, major joints, etc, and have to stay away from it and all other inflammation-causing foods, etc. Which of course makes me want them even more! When I was first diagnosed (after about 10 years of being told it was all in my head) I got right into natural healing, etc, including changing the diet, cutting out booze, etc. All those different diets out there drove me bonkers – at the worst point when I was trying to work out what… Read more »

That’s funny, I just quit wheat recently on my acupuncturists advice. And now going to the grocery store can be excruciating: all those cookies and breads and bagels and crackers I suddenly can’t have…..

But one question about the Boring Diet, can one actually smile while on it? I can train myself to do one for a while but if it goes on for too long, I go Hulk I think.

I have jupiter and saturn ion Virgo and have had food allergies all my life. No dairy, no sugar, no caffeine, no wheat and no citrus. Of course, i still eat chocolate (am taurian people… NOBODY TAKES CHOCOLATE AWAY FROM ME) and I miss citrus… but I am mostly good. I can get away with a little, unless I am run down, then I have to be good, or my body arcs up.

i myself am allergic to chocolate – i had to have CAT scans because they thought i had a brain tumour – but no just allergy to nightly cup of milo.

it tends to go with the citrus/nightshade intolerance Venus…

Ok… so I am not that bad… I can still eat chocolate… it just makes me manic… then I get headaches and crash (oh… but the chocolately goodness is so worth it). All sugar does that to me tho. One friend commented that I am more revved up and scarey on a couple of jelly dinosaurus, then I would be on class A’s. … I was doing laps of the outside of a bus in the pissing rain to try and calm down after some lollies at the time. I thought I was ok… but they kicked me out of… Read more »

Thank you. I think also that the Gwyneth has had an impact on popularising the anti-wheat thing.

Have to go in a moment to eat my stupid salad for lunch. Have “encounter” that i need to look hot for. So nothing for me. But in my mind’s eye i am like frenchwoman who eats bread and wine and cheese all day but looks incredible. Lol! In real life i relucutnalty admit that i look and feel incredible if i lay off the grog, bread, pasta and just eat fruit, vegetables, protein and wholefoods. I could do a book called People On Boring Diets Don’t Get Fat but nobodywould like it.

Gem Virgo Rising (love the science of food) Love carbs. Although have not eaten any white bread, rice, pasta in years & in moderation of course. Have heard many versions & ailments as to why they are bad for you etc. However not much discussion on why carbs are essential to our diet. Some of our issues today are stemming from the mass production of food increasing all these diseases & intolerances etc, most people do not know if they are allergic or intolerant. Processed carbs obviously bad, cause most of our problems diabetes, heart disease etc. Complexed carbs are… Read more »

I have seriously, chronically bad digestion (Sun conjunct Ceres in Virgo plus Virgo stellium) and it’s taken years of fine tuning to keep it under control. Was on a very restrictive diet for a few years, cutting out gluten, dairy, sugar, red meat, yeast etc. It didn’t improve my digestion, if anything it sensitized it more. Chinese herbal medicine was most effective thing I tried, and I do avoid a few foods but wheat isn’t one of them. Gluten is a protein BTW, not a poison, and need only be avoided if one is allergic to it (Coeliac disease). Some… Read more »

i quite agree on all counts my mother was very poor as a child eg in London after ww2 with rationing and still getting national health coming round from ‘complaints’ from neighbours about kids not getting enough to eat. She is very sensitive to lactose – and used to puke every lunch time at school from the rice pudding. This was never diagnosed as ‘lactose intolerance’ and she was punished by the nuns for being naughty. poor mum. I am glad there is more knowlege about food and allergies now. but i hate carb phobia. it is quite simple, if… Read more »

Yah, sugar is more harmful than any food. The only nutritional value it has is kilojoules. No vitamins, minerals, enzymes, niente. It actually stresses the body. I have it in my coffee though.

Über you should try Xylitol. You can get it from health food stores. I know it has a very chemical sound but it’s a natural sugar alternative made from the corn cob core (so it’s environmentally sustainable as other natural sugar alternatives are derived from Birch tree bark). It’s low GI, low carb and “actively protects teeth from decay” – go figure!. I use it in my tea. I agree with you about cane sugar being harmful in large doses but i allow myself a few small pieces of dark chocolate – at least i’m getting the benefits of the… Read more »

Moon and Pluto in Virgo…how does that affect my health??? I’ve been on a wheat, dairy, and sugar-free diet since January as part of an overall holistic healing program. It’s an anti-candida diet….I’ve apprently been over-run with candida ever since I had mono 3 years ago. I was sick for 2 years straight and still struggle with my health, but I will tell you this program has helped a lot! Especially when I don’t cheat! It’s hard not to cheat after 5 months but I REALLY feel the effects when I do…particularly after eating wheat or sugar. Ugh…I feel sort… Read more »

I have coaliac disease, only symptomatic and diagnosed 4 years ago after birth of first daughter. When Saturn was conjunct my Pluto.
Gemini moon, squaring Jupiter 0 degrees Virgo, trine Neptune 26 degrees Virgo. 3rd house in Virgo. Also have Venus at 12 degrees and Pluto at 21 degrees Virgo.
I do get control freaky but absolutely not about food. I love cooking and baking, I’m one of the curvy Libra’s.
I’ve adapted through necessity but I sooo miss pastries, fresh bread, etc.

PS Ceres is also at 26 degrees Virgo, which I forgot to mention is conjunct my IC at 0 degrees Libra, and was also in Virgo when I was diagnosed.
You might be onto something CBA.

Am sure I’ve read another astrologer banging on about the aeteroid Ceres influencing this at the moment too? (Ceres as in Roman goddess of agriculture and root of cereal, etc – would that make her patron of B&S balls? Just wondering) Anyway, my grandmother was diagnosed with coeliac disease at the age of 88. Having been raised in Asia and a macrobiotic convert later in life, seems she was never exposed to enough gluten to know it was bad, but now that all family outings revolve arounf this dietary need, have since noticed an increasing trend for cafes and restaurants… Read more »

Virgo 3rd house – I do try not to eat wheat more than once a day ie if I have toast for brekkie, no more sandwiches, no pasta etc. And I’m pretty ‘clean living’ ie ALWAYS do 3 nights booze-free a week, only animal product I eat is the occasional bit of goat cheese etc.

I find lots of gluten free breads contain egg or milk – I’d rather stick to the plain old wheat, which is generally vegan.

I steer clear of bread most of the time as I love but HATE carbs. I may sometimes get an avo and chicken on turkish bread for lunch but that’s about it. I hate bread and pasta and all carby lovely delicious stuff. But yeah I find it makes me bloated and yick feeling. It just doesn’t feeeel right in my stomach. Pretty sure humans aren’t meant to eat bread?

Re the spooky baguette guts – of course, what else did she ingest/have wrong with her that could have lead to this? I’m not a big bread fan these days, but sometimes a piece of hot, buttery toast really does soothe and comfort, and can’t go without heaps of bread with a big bowl of soup. Yum! I’ve never been aware of any probs. Sag sun, Aries Moon, Pisces rising but I have no idea about the where the Virgo whatsit thingy is. I went to Astrodienst but I don’t get it. I never ate bread til being a teenager, as I ate rising bread dough as a child and it keeps expanding in the stomach! Ow! yeasty burps. I have Saturn in Virgo. Aries sun,… Read more »
