Is this picture how trines feel?

Okay Astro-Fiends…You know how there are “trine” aspects in your chart? These are said to be “good” or “easy” and “flowing”.  They are when planets are 120 degrees apart from one another. The so-called compatible signs are all in trine to one another. eg;  Aries trines Leo. Both Fire signs. But if you had a planet at 21 degrees in Aries and a planet at 21 degrees Leo, they would be trine.

You can go to Astrodienst & figure this out and then chat about it in the comments. The challenge is this. Find your CLOSEST trine. See how well those two planets work together. And how much easier you find the affairs of the House they are in. If you use the Extended Chart Options of Astrodienst, it comes up with a graph that shows you which planets make which aspect to what and how close their aspect is. You are looking for a triangle symbol – that means trine – and for a number below 4.

This is a fab way to learn Astrology! Later, we can investigate squares and see how the apparently most difficult aspect in your chart manifests compares to your trines…

So, find your closest trine. Think about whether this is something you take for granted or is it a blessing you give thanks for everyday? They say, btw, that your squares & oppositions, once buffed up operate more like lucky trines.

Eg; My closest trine is between Venus and Neptune. Venus is in Pisces, ruled by Neptune & it’s very close: Venus 22 Pisces and Neptune 19 Scorpio. This means i have a true love of art, poetry, wine, myth – all the Neptunian things, quite removed from any academic appreciation of them. It’s just diffuse adoration.

In love, i can be tres giving of course but Venus-Neptune gives on the ability to gaze upon a surly guy in the corner at the gym and bestow him with all sorts of magical qualities. He becomes a prince in exile under the magical gaze of Venus-Neptune. Venus Neptune in trine means you don’t have to try v.hard to be psychic but one has to beware nebulous, ill-defined situations & lower Neptunian scenarios that it’s all too easy to just sort of glide into.

What is your closest trine and is it working for you? An unexploited trine is a waste!

So this was how I felt when I woke up this morning. I didn’t get distinct answers to my questions but the dreams certainly intensified. And there is probably an answer there if i think more about it. My Snake Guide seems to be quite cryptic. I think also that the practice of writing a question before bed is an aid to the subliminal mind and it directs your dreams??? How did you guys go? It’s another big dreaming night tonight so I’m giving it a go again.

And, btw, I am busy doing scopes but Holy Aphrodite! The weeks from October 10 onward are so astro-packed. Until then, my little diary i create for each year with all the aspects etc, has whole pages that are practically blank. Oct 10 and through to Saturn going into Libra: Full On. For example, in the week starting October 10, Venus opposes Uranus, quincunxes Neptune, trines the North Node, conjoins Saturn, sextiles Mars and squares Pluto. That’s a LOT of Venusian activity. It’s heaps!

So, Venus is opposing Neptune for the next few days…It’s over the top, of course,  as Venus is in lovely Leo…Remember the Mercury Retro situation and be aware of the heightened potential for ego-driven delusions.  You could misjudge the degree of someone’s attraction to you. Or not…Magic can occur under such stars & maybe someone with feelings for you will find them hard to conceal. Then again, it’s a slippery bit of astro-weirding.

Venus Opposite Neptune is also a little bit of this:

“Dear Mystic,

Is there an astro for bad hair karma? I’ve just had the fourth crap hair cut this year:
1. Nervous, shaky apprentice fries my hair (and himself!) by over-straightening to get a more precise cut. My hair is straight!
2. What was to be a ‘long bob’ to the shoulders (to clean up fried ends) ended up as an Austrian mullet!!! I’m beginning to suspect ‘Bruno’ is a documentary.
3. Ok, Three did an decent job but it didn’t improve the ‘look’ much.
4. Now, who says ‘Ok, you’re trying to grow it long. That’s difficult’ and then goes an cuts three months growth off???!?!?!?

Have Venus in Leo. Also wondering if Mercury owns scissors……

Cheers,

The Bad-Haired Virgo “

Dear Bad-Haired Virgo,

Oh how I sympathise. Especially hell for Venus in Leo. First of all, in  my Astroscape Books (the 2009 one and the 2010 one which is on sale from next Tues – see link to the left) I detail the GOOD Hair Moons and the BAD Hair Moons. You basically only get it trimmed during a waxing Moon if you want it to grow and get yourself waxed during the moonwane to discourage hair growth. I had a hell hair year a few years ago when this idiot both razor cut it (my hair is totally fine like a babies) and then bleached the shit out of it. I actually got really used to people asking what had happened to my hair and so now, when  people say NICE things about my hair, my eyes well up with tears. I know. This sounds really trivial but still.

Anyway, if you are in Sydney, e-mail me for my hairdressers details – she not only listens – she is psychic and affordable too. Obey the Hair Moon rules & maybe your Venus in Leo is being squared by Neptune so you need to be extra careful that you are not deceived in Venusian matters. And nobody should ever say “difficult” for things like hair growth. It’s annoying and negative. I have a client who does things like cardio-thoracic surgery in war zones and she deliberately uses words such as “tricky” or “a bit challenging for the moment.”

Oh and I don’t care what anyone says, hair SO responds to nutrition so consider seeing my psychic hairdresser or a simple barber (they listen and if you say trim 1/4 millimetre off the ends – they’ll do it, no patronising) AND a professional to zoosh up nutrition…fishy oils & quality protein, silica etc. Don’t you think???

073-saturn-girlSaturn Girl

I love the basic description of Saturn Girl as “a talented telepath from the 30th Century.”

I am so totally loving Saturn, even though the planet is opposing my Venus right now. As you can read in Saturn Crashes The Uranus-Venus Club and the Saturn-Venusian Transits Bad Boys Thingie if you are having a Uranus transit to any point in your chart in the next month, Saturn is along for the smackdown. But this is a GOOD thing.

It need not be Venus of course – whatever is betweeen 20 to 26 degrees of any sign but especially the Mutable signs (Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, Saggo) is being affected. In fact, more than that, it’s been caught between Saturn and Uranus.  My mind is on this at the moment partly because i am doing the Saturn-Uranus-Mercury Retro mini-astro-queries but also because i have this Saturn opposing my Venus thing going on & I have decided TWO MAJOR THINGS;

Thing One; Saturn is not boring. Yes i often link the planetary influence with mortality, taxes blah de blah. But the other night, when i turfed out the Uranian, it felt fabulous. Like having an inner suave life coach – setting boundaries seemed suddenly SO simple & easy. And just because he’d turned up out sans warning, i didn’t let my Venus-Neptunian goo-goo urges take over and render the whole thing “passionate” or (worse) fated. Quite frankly it is that sort of sentiment that leads to an awful lot of women snivelling into the cracked tea-mug they’re drinking warm gin out of as they gaze out of their rusty window frame at the railway tracks. Not that the U would have taken me there, but you get my point. Channel Saturn to prize your health, wealth & wisdom. Saturn is cool. And given that the pantheon is overwhelmingly male, i am visualising Saturn as Saturn-Girl for the moment. It works for me and it might work for you too.

Thing Two; Yes, Saturn and Uranus are moving into an opposition at the moment (and it’s back next April so how you do September’s one determines 2010 a LOT) but it need not be a battle between the two. What if they get along really well & help one another? The other night with the U is not just me being an indulgent confessional blogger – it works as an example because Venus was trining Uranus and sextiling Saturn. So it was an actual Saturn-Uranus opposition test/issue. Okay so Saturn works by setting boundaries & saying this isn’t good enough and so on – Uranus was simply bored by the whole thing. I seriously felt like it was a groundhog situation. Almost like we had been scripted and were just revving up for take 57 of the same stupid scene. Not good. Uranus on its own might grok the boredom and attempt to liven things up via a dash of chaos or acting out but Saturn kicks in and says ‘kill it’ – no dramas, no worries & now pixter your teeth, bung on some antioxidant serum & go happily to a rejuvenatory sleep.

So far as boundaries go, Saturn-Girl is set and forget. No agonising. No insomnia. No Neptunian musings re karma drama.

AND: One of my fave astro books – The Gods Of Change, by Howard Sasportas -  makes the point that Neptune always benefits from a little Saturn. So if you’re Venus in Pisces, Venus in 12th House or Venus aspecting Neptune (a la me) then you will love a good Saturn transit to your Venus, you truly will.

cover_3Having Saturn transitting one’s Venus is like being stalked by a scary life coach. If your Venus is between 18 and 26 degrees of a Mutable sign, you’re having a Saturn-Venus transit. Or 18 to 26 of anything but especially the Mutable. It’s very similar if Saturn is aspecting your Ascendent  or Descendent.  Or transitting (I so nearly typed transhitting) your 5th or 7th House.

So my Venus – this is just to illustrate- is at 22 Pisces and trine Neptune in Scorpio. Venus in Pisces peeps are already prone to romanticise – having it trine Neptune is just the icing. So the other day I’m walking out of the gym and my mind meanders to the stupid Uranian & his devastating combo of black hair/blue eyes & how charming he can be when not off his face. Venus-Neptune v.quickly took me to a point where I was thinking how my Saturn his on his North Node and that maybe it is my destiny to sort his life out or something like that.

Suddenly I swear I practically heard the voice of Saturn; ‘get a fuqing grip, don’t date men who are beneath you.’  Now Venus in Pisces is about universal compassion and she certainly doesn’t think people are beneath you. But Saturn is all about setting standards and having the self-control to stick to them. Venus in Pisces never lets go of an ex. She drops them – yes- and usually for someone else but then Venus in Pisces doubles-back & re-idealizes the Ex, just for kicks. It gets Venus in Pisces peeps (Venus-Neptune is similar) a bad reputation but they don’t mean to be manipulative.

Venus in Pisces/12th House/aspecting Neptune has another core competency – apart from compassion and forgiveness; the ability to imbue anyone she considers hot with enormous spiritual qualities & a sense of fate being at play. This is apt for men with the Venus set up as well – i say she as we are talking about Venus here. Men with Venus in Pisces/12th house/aspecting Neptune are usually v.aware of the Madonna-Ho complex. They live there, lol.

So if you’ve got Saturn on your case – right now the Taskmaster is at 20 degrees of Virgo – remember that he is just doing his job & that the sooner you set up some boundaries and enforce them + work about ten times harder than would seem appropriate, the Saturnine stress dissipates & cop the rewards: Health, Wealth & Wisdom.

If you have not read Wuthering Heights, here is the ’study notes’ version lol!  But this question works best if you HAVE read the wretched thing. I read it once as a teenager & adored it. When I re-read it a few years ago, i freaked at what an a-hole Heathcliff was. So, what was your most Wuthering Heightsie relationship & with WHAT sign??? I am thinking tortured, requited but never quite happening, Goth-toned and possibly adulterous with shitloads of  yearning and banked up sexual desires. With or without the ghosts and wandering the Moors at night…

Also, while we are on this, Wuthering Heights is MEGA Venus-Pluto & what signs are Cathy & Heathcliff???  How BAD is he?  And is  it just me or is the spookiest bit of the book right at the start, where she comes back as a CHILD ghost???  Soz for the spoiler but the book HAS been out for centuries…

And how unreal is Kate Bush doing it as a song???  She is Leo, of course – hair, red dress, lit references, love of art/performance.She has the same birthday as Emily Bronte, the author of Wuthering Heights.  She also has Venus in Cancer sextile Pluto and trine Neptune…She should do a whole series of Gothic fairy tale love style songs & epic poetry…Venus aspecting Neptune does NOT like the mutual obligation, counsellory end of love. They live for Great Love, soul stirrings and Poignant Moments. Sometimes they prefer things to be left undeveloped, unrequited…anything to avoid the non-poignant Menstrual Bickering In The Carpark At Ikea moments.

“…I have an austere temperament,” she says. “There are things that give me no pleasure: objects, clothes, jewelry. I’ve worn them all, but all that stuff interferes with my daily life.” She does her own hair. According to her friend Farida Khelfa, “Carla hates shopping and would wear the same pair of trousers every day if she could.” Makeup doesn’t interest her—”It takes forever and doesn’t make you look better after 30…”

From Vogue

Her chart is here & what do we see???

She has a poetic, musical & romantic Grand Water Trine with her Cancerian Ascendent trine Venus/Neptune in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces. She has to have a creative outlet…Her Nodes are the reverse of Madonna’s so she comes comes from luxury but with the vision of learning to value more subtle manifestations of the light. Note – the literal meaning of luxury is ‘of the light’.

Saturn in Aries on the Midheaven – climbs, responsibility will become a leader as Uranus first squares her Sun at Zero degrees of Cap and then crosses the Saturn & midheaven from 2011 and beyond…Through annhilating (Uranus) some dominant paradigm?  Or a stupendous scandal? Moon-Pluto in Virgo…Austere temperament indeed. Would not pay to cross her…Maternal mortality as cause of her heart so fits the astro.

It just occurred to me that there seem to be two broad types of Capricorn….The austere ones & a slightly more earthy & robust variety a la Nigella Lawson – she of the cupcakes, goosefat and pragmatic sense of  humour.

It’s the same with Aquarians: You get the ravingly bats don’t-fence-me-in Uranian types & then a more Saturnine version (Saturn being the ancient ruler of Aquarius, before Uranus was discovered) with the clinical demeanour and dislike for anything not scientifically proven. Pisceans too are often either Jovial or Neptunian…As in Jupiter was their ruler before Neptune.  So you get these bon-vivant Pisceans prancing about who are more like Sagg & then these Neptunian entrancers gliding about, between worlds & official mystics.
