“It’s his heart I want! All those little girls with no education will not take it from me. I would not be so calm if I saw some pretty woman of the court or the capital trying to conquer it.”

“Her decision was made; she would defend herself without pity and without scruples. From now on her life would be, as she was to say, ‘a perpetual combat.’.  From Madame De Pompadour, Mistress of France.

Venus is in Aries, the sign of Mars and with Mars flamboyantly out of action.

How does Venus go in Aries?

Well, respect is a big deal, of course & the reading material is less likely to be some self-help book and more likely Sun Tzu’s Art Of War…especially Part Three: Attack By Stratagem.

Venus in Aries is the iron fist in the velvet glove, every single trick in the book employed to bring about the fulfilment of her desires & you are either with her or else you are against her.

Beauty-wise, Venus in Aries is about the power of the overtly sexual image. Nothing subtle. The strategy is shock and awe.  In settled relationships where a woman is not getting that much attention, Venus in Aries wreaks havoc. There is a need for not so much attention as worship.

High maintenance? You betcha. And it’s until the end of March which is when Venus will move on to plough the more tranquil fields of Taurus.

When Venus meets up with Uranus (the Goddess of Love with the God of Divine Chaos) an interesting time can ensue. Venus is nearly there right now. This aspect perfects by Thursday evening but permeates the whole week, regardless of your timezone. Venus-Uranus can bring relationships quickly into being and they can shatter apart just as quickly.

People want electrifying connection & haute meeting of minds, not dullard obligations. Things that have been tolerated for months suddenly become intolerable. Strange attractions flare up. Interestingly, Venus opposes Saturn next week so that is like the opposite to this Venus-Uranian energy. It’s by next week (that quickly!) that you’ll see how viable a relationship or prospective little fling is.

This week? Love is weird but hopefully in a good way and you can’t really do a single thing to control it. In fact, attempting to control Venus-Uranian energy is a guaranteed flop. What you can expect? Interesting courtships, artistic zing, the urge for a more unique look, love of unusual art/music/decor, the re-entry of a.w.o.l. suitors (though Mars Retrograde ameloriates this to a certain extent) and fascinating new flirtations or more sparking up.

Venus rules beauty. The most popular look du jour would be something alternative dimensional…You know, alien but not green or with tentacles. Other worldly and non-controlling. Venus-Uranus can also be sudden reversals in romance. Also, this is Venus-Uranus conjunction is followed by Venus in aspect to Saturn, Mars and then Pluto…all in the next 12 days…Fun. Action.

So, here is a quick take on the current Mars-Venus situation.

As you know Mars is Retrograde. You don’t chase when Mars is Retrograde. You expect certain peeps to back WAY off and that’s fine. There is always something else productive to do.

Venus has just hooked up with Jupiter. Something – a crush, an attraction, a dispute, your emo, whatever – is expanding way up. Out. You get my point. Jupiter maxes out whatever it’s touching.

Venus then goes bingling onto an early March conjunction with Uranus. Heh heh. Venus Uranus is when things out themselves. Contact is made. Surprises occur. The unsayable is said. Mega-eccentric flirting and/or a catalyst.

Then Venus trines a still-Retro Mars on the 7th/8th – more smooth & harmonious relating etc – opposes Saturn on the 9th (limitations, reality checking) and then Mars goes Direct on the 11th and Venus in Aries promptly squares Pluto: very, very sexy and cathartic…especially with Mars on the move forward again. Mars does not get back to the degree he was at when he went Retro until May so deep breaths & stop expecting everything to manifest this minute.

I cannot believe that I – a Mercury in Aries person – just typed that. But it is true. Only the Aquarius stuff goes fast right now; The social consciousness, the hi-Qi evolution, the brainwaves & dreaming. Love – generally Mars and Venus linked – is a game. For now. Thinking of it in those terms will help.

And it’s all to do with a process that began back in October…Play it out!

Venus in Pisces sextile Pluto and conjunct Jupiter can be a little bit grandiose, greedy, manipulative and cunning. It’s not very New Age but do we care?

And what’s stirring now busts out in a big way when Venus gets to Uranus in the first week of March. And, yes, that Mars Retro means you may have to bide your time, enjoy the game, the ride, the space.

The Japanese phrase Koi No Yoken apparently refers to the sensing of an impending love affair: perhaps at first meeting or maybe just a feeling that you are about to encounter someone out of the norm. It’s v.much of the now as Venus sextiles Pluto on the eve of a magical conjunction between Chiron & Neptune.

Anyone with even a nano of intuitive brain cells is a sex-psychic this week. Ditto shamanic healer of ancient love wounds and all.

So, who is  sensing what? And how fab is the combo of Venus-Pluto AND haute-minded Aquarian weirding.  Passionate AND intellectual. We should operate a hotline or something.

And spider dreaming? Common at the moment. Why? No idea. Last night i woke up to distant thunder & rain, looked out the window and there was a giant classic mandala style cobweb glistening in the light from a streetlamp. Huge, like going between the houses and half way across the road huge. Still don’t know if i dreamed it or not but I’m taking it as a good omen.

Exclamation Mark

Yes it’s weird at the moment as there is all this fabulous, magical activity & eureka moments crackling away in Aquarius.

But it’s still the Dark Moon so there is a tides-out sensation with energy & emotions. Don’t do the gloom but do do the requisite Dark Moon rest-up & the Moon is new again Saturday night in America, early Sunday morning in the UK and in the afternoon in Australia.

That’s when the Auspicious Aqua-Weirding will really get going. Remember, it’s a New Moon near to the amazing (and rare) Chiron-Neptune conjunction: brilliant breakthroughs and sudden (positive) changes. Get with it but rejuvenate now.

Oh and there’s a sexy Venus-Pluto sextile next week as well. You may as well restore your glow along with your sanity. And big changes you’re pondering or already doing are enduring – no need to rush it all now.

Venus is in Aquarius so get set to space out. Detached & totally not too clingy is the Zeitgeist and just watch some of those Capricornian relationship ideals get warped by the shift in Venusian paradigm. Out:  Convention. In: New modalities. You know what Aquarius is like. And Venus is also whizzing along to an opposition with retro-Mars (late Jan) & then a tryst with Neptune & Chiron in mid-Feb.

First the romantic weirding (especially so far as men are concerned) & then something magical in February. Venus in Aquarius is also, in general, a good time to scheme rad makeovers in beauty & fashion, clearing well of HAIR, given the Mars Retrograde…

Ponce up thy look to be more you, take and give some space & then prep for fascinating love-sex-relationship manifestations…

Before the New Moon Eclipse on the 15th, you need to go tidy up all the psychic crud & clutter that no doubt emerged with that last Full Moon Eclipse…The Solar Eclipse next Friday is SUCH a favourable fresh start vibe – a super-powered New Moon in Capricorn enhanced by Venus & sextiled by Uranus – that you really don’t want to be grubbed up by ye olde stale emotions, ancient angst, crappy habits & past-use-by-date yearnings…Do you?

Yes to good manners, yes to perspective and yes to civilised conduct but no-no-no, you are not going back & that last Full Moon should have shown you that. This Mercury Retrograde cycle is in Capricorn so keep the nostalgia & ‘analysis’ productive, make it real and scheme for an insanely profound renaissance attitude to go with the New Moon Eclipse.

The beautiful picture above is symbolic of your psychic spare room that may or may not need tidying AND think this too: New Moon Eclipse conjunct Venus. Not Mercury nor even underworldly Pluto. Venus. So is there a Venusian theme of yours that could do with a savage uncluttering?  Literal (photo-album) or emotional (naff misconceptions nursed lovingly)…

Venus is in Sagittarius! I LOVE how the vibe seems already a lot less fraught. Venus in Saggo is take-it-or-leave-it so far as love goes. She values experience, the journey, the moment. There is a lover-in-every-port quality to Venus in Sagittarius. You can use this cycle to be a bit more breezy & candid in a relationship or about your love life in general. Relish freedom and/or honesty.

For her next act, Venus in Sagg is going to sextile Saturn

Venus To Saturn: Okay, Sagacious Hermit Dude, so you reckon me having an actual budget would enable me to better pursue my bliss, liberty and oh-my-god this amazingly insightful and YES, okay HOT guy who I’ve been e-mailing with about his raw food body building commune that you can only reach by speedboat and…Sorry Mr Saturn, WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY??”

It’s Venus and Saturn but a Sextile…so helpful…That’s later this week but active now. Slightly austere but good insights re love, beauty et al.

Then, later, there is the awesome Venus trine to Mars in Leo – this is mid-December’s opportunity for exhibitionists, pole-dancers and those nursing secret crushes to be more overt. A fab tonique for jaded couples as well.  My friend Aqua-Girl has been doing alarming stream of consciousness bitcherel re “monotonous monogamy” on her Facebook. Mars is going to be bang on her Moon for the Venus trine. She is seeking an occasion suitably risque enough.

Moving on, Venus in Saggo squares Uranus & sextiles the Auspicious Aqua Weirding. Around about then and with the Eclipse looming, it’s all gonna get a bit “if you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with’ ish.

And a bit of a cosmic catalyst for moribund couplings.   I am just getting everyone massage or colonic (lol) vouchers this year so I don’t have to be oozing around department stores/malls with Mars retrograde and toxic couples going completely cuckoo at one another under the tinsel and with beady-eyed, hung-over Santas everywhere.

I nearly typed Saturns there. Not that Saturn would ever be at all beady-eyed or hungover. But it’s a good idea. Why can’t we – instead of out-dated Santas peddling sugar laden naff shit, have Saturns sitting around looking sleek and giving life-coaching tips? The Sun is in Capricorn from Dec 22 for fuq’s sake. SO apt.
