Saturn Pluto

Saturn Square Pluto need not be a shitstorm. Seriously. But it is definitely the time to make rad changes in the structures around you: Your beliefs, your goals & systems. Things change during this particular alignment and yes, it is associated with geopolitical turmoil.

This Saturn Square Pluto situation began last November, perfects the middle bit of its cycle on Feb 1 and completes in August. So you look back to events/emo of last November for clues if you need to. Intensity is the norm with this thing – as is a savage urge to tear down what feels moribund and build up from zero.  It has a distinct ruthless vibe to it and it is totally not the time to fuq with anyone.

So – yes to drastic reforms and realizations. No to goading tyrannical or extreme types. The maximum stress from this sort of aspect comes from clinging onto ye olde ideas or relationships that have had their day & you know it. Note the timing: There’s a Full Moon in drama-queenie Leo right before the Saturn-Pluto square is exact. So it’s theatrical too.

Any little resentments/sensations of feeling crowded et al will out themselves & in total Leonic scenary-chewing fashion. It’s not astrology for wimps & nor is it the time for sooky-goo-goo sentimental nostalgia.

Venus is now in Scorpio, btw. Take careful note today as the Love-Goddess sextiles Pluto, stirring memories of Venusian-Plutonic shenanigans (hot, karmic, forbidden etc) from way back.

The next big Venus-Pluto aspect is at the end of the year – Venus meets Pluto in Capricorn and sparks a new cycle. But Nov is also a series of subtle  hints re the 2010 Venus in Scorpio extravaganza – Venus in Scorpio from September until January.

Venus has not been Retro in Scorp since late 2002.  It’s always a good one. DO avoid negative Venus-Plutonic carry on…stalkery, bitcherel and overly-intense emo. Perhaps think more in terms of elegant skin-shedding, so that may slither out of the discarded skins, all gleaming and perky again.

After the New Moon, Venus does a whole lot more of stuff – squaring Mars in Leo (always great for a good time, trining Uranus (surprise!) and squaring the Auspicious Aqua-Weirding…If you like your love life intense, bats, sexy and a bit power-trippy, this could be your sort of thing.  Ditto if you feel like things have been stuck for a bit. BUT don’t push thy luck THIS week = let the Saturn-Pluto Square do its thing…It’s not exactly romantic.

YOU CAN BE FEELING A BIT LIKE THIS…

Well, you could be feeling in sort of the above mood & yes, it is not just the Moon going Full in Taurus…that’s actually quite easy to ameloriate via caring for one’s body…It’s also the ruthless Saturn-Pluto square forming…I’m feeling it in that a few peeps who i like – love, even – have nonetheless managed to stand me up, skip important occasions and so on & I am having to stop myself sending a merde-missive. This is SO unlike me…Usually, with friends, I just rack this sort of thing up to life, whatever…But Saturn-Pluto squaring in bolshie, cardinal signs is a whole new game.

Geopolitically, i still think it will throw up some interesting ‘tells’ as to how Pluto in Cap is going and it is – sorry – notorious for geopolitical flashpoint situations but personally, if we can just keep it productive, for most of us it’s good. Though a tad bitchy. I have Pluto right at the end of my ’social sector’ and so it’s like – with these various friends – i can hear the voice of Saturn crooning (being in Libra, the Saturnine voice is more melodious  now) “come on, shouldn’t friends think you’re fabulous, turn up when they say they will and not diss  you? Why not just clarify your social life…?” You can see Saturn as wanting to help the Pluto transformative process.

As for the Full Moon in Taurus, I am going for something more like the image below and sleep, nutrition and walking barefoot on some grass are to be my secret serenity weapons.

Also, it’s important to distinguish fleeting Full Moon intensity from deeper themes that will be played out over the next year as Saturn squares Pluto again in Feb 2010 and then whizzes back to oppose Uranus again and then forward to have another bingle with Pluto. Hence the advice to shut up and cultivate thy serenity till after the Full Moon…eg; If your friendscape does need to be reshaped, don’t do it on impulse during a Full Moon in time when the potentially truculent Taurus-Moon opposes the possibly vengeful/bitched up Scorpio Sun/Mercury…with egomaniacal Mars in Leo squaring, just for kicks.

Well, I love that the Ancient Mayans aced the Venus cycles absolutely yonks ago – without telescopes et al, they figured that the Morning Star & the Evening Star – Venus a.k.a. Xolotl – were the same planet, even though appearing on different sides of the sky.

But so far as the future goes, I’m  backing Ray Kurzweil,  a futurist, entrepeneur & mathmatician who says we are about to experience a fabulous & mind-boggling event known as The Singularity.  I was reading a profile of the gent this morning & I knew within nanoseks that he is an Aquarius.  Even apart from The Singularity, all the Aqua indicators were there…

* He invented a program called FatKat – Financial Accelerating Transactions from Kurzweil Adaptive Technologies – that plays the stockmarket for him so that he has more time for other projects. He also invented an automatic poetry generator called the Cybernetic Poet. He has a part-time employee purely to manage his vitamins and nutritional supplements. He is currently working on nanobots that will be injected inside the body to extend human lifespan. Has not consumed sugar for decades but drinks red wine daily, for the reservaterol.

And yah! He is Aquarius – Feb 12 1948 so also with Saturn-Pluto in Leo & Uranus trining his Aqua Sun.

I can’t quite grok what The Singularity is all about…only that amazing technology will be harnessed for the good of ALL – ie; feed the whole world & revolutionise all that ails us now. This would, of course, be a wonderful manifestation of innovative Uranus in gung-ho, pioneering Aries, Pluto in Capricorn & Neptune in Pisces….All of which is upon us soon.

So, next time someone grizzles to me about the Mayans, 2012 movie et al – I shall say ‘but what about The Singularity?’ and be done with it.

Today is the birthday of Lee Miller, the Vogue covermodel turned intern & Muse to peeps such as Man Ray & Jean Cocteau to surrealist photographer and then genius photojournalist. Her early life was horrid. She was raped by a family friend and contracted a vile venereal disease:  “I looked like an angel but I was a fiend inside.”  She was one of the first photographers to document the horrors of the concentration camps & reveal them to the outside world.

This famous pic is of her in Hitler’s bathtub, after just such a harrowing journey.

The Carolyn Burke bio is brill & the book by her son, Anthony Penrose is sooo moving.  He says he did not understand the totality of her until after her not-so-easy demise. Heaps of her pics are at the Lee Miller virtual archive.

Her astro for Astro-Fiends & according to the magnificent new Astro DataBank app which i will link to properly) is here;

Libra Rising – the beauty & the free lover, classic. Mars-Uranus the iconoclast in Capricorn and a Grand Trine with the Sun in Taurus & Moon in Virgo. Venus-Saturn in Pisces in the 6th (health) square Pluto in Gemini…that awful childhood health/rape curse. Mercury in Aries right on her Dsc so a big-mouth urge to rant off & tell her truth powerfully opposing the Libra Rising looks & desire for harmony. Jupiter conjunct Neptune (just like is gonna happen soon in late May!) in the sign of Kataka (Cancer) on the Midheaven aka career point so a true visionary & destined to influence/alter our collective culture and the Anima Mundi…aka World Soul.

The Tom Cruise movie of Valkyrie is, as I am sure you know, based on the German aristocrat Claus Von Stauffenberg, who was executed for conspiring to assasinate Hitler. He was amazingly brave & committed + apparently highly charismatic…I got a huge crush on him when studying the story at high school. This is from the Wiki…

“…Stauffenberg was aware that by German law he was about to commit high treason. He openly told young conspirator Axel von dem Bussche late 1943: “Gehen wir in medias res, ich betreibe mit allen mir zur Verfügung stehenden Mitteln den Hochverrat…” (“Let’s be blunt, I am committing high treason with all my might and means….”).[12] He justified his project to Bussche by reference to the right under natural law (“Naturrecht”) to defend millions of people’s lives from the criminal aggressions of Hitler (“Nothilfe”).

From the beginning of September 1943 until 21 July 1944, Claus von Stauffenberg was the driving force behind the plot. His resolve, his organizational abilities, and his radical revolutionary approach put an end to inactivity caused by doubts and long discussions on hitherto military virtues made obsolete or not by Hitler’s behavior….”

His chart (November 15 1907) is fascinating.

He is a Scorpio with his Sun conjunct Mercury trined by Saturn in Pisces and squared by Mars in idealistic Aquarius. Saturn squares Pluto in Gemini which trines the Mars.

And – get this O Astro-Fiends – Von Stauffenberg had Uranus conjunct the South Node and Neptune conjunct the North Node, in Cancer. Even when it became apparent that the plot would likely fail and all involved be executed, he cared desperately that the world know not all Germans supported the Nazi regime. He loved his mother country.
