Sagittarius Rising

Your “astro-signature” is your Ascendent (aka Rising Sign) Sun Sign and Moon Sign.  This is totally arguable but they are the three most dominant points in your chart. And what’s fun is seeing how well they all get along.

For instance, you can see that having – say – Moon in Leo with Sagittarius Rising would be like a party. Moon in Leo would love the Sagg Risings ability to scare up a good time & Saggo Rising would love the take-anywhere nature of Moon in Leo.  Add in the Sun in Libra for some smooth elegance and voila…a harmonious astro-signature. No discordance.

A Taurus-Pisces-Virgo blend? Easy.

But what if you’re an Aries Sun hiding behind a sultry Scorpio Ascendent? More tricky.

So thinking about the potential relations between your Sun, Rising and Moon signs is an interesting way to think about your chart. Plus it’s easy as well. You can turn them into characters & imagine their dialogue.

I DID this once ages ago, with planets, at some sort of astro-gestalt thing. It was sort of interesting but ghastly.  People had to act out someone’s chart and you should have seen how horrid the person playing Saturn immediately let himself get. Venus just whined about her needs not being met and the character playing Mars got the shits and stalked off to smoke furiously outside.

I have Sun in Pisces, Libra Moon and Aquarius Rising so am fairly easy-breezy most of the time but with sudden eruptions of Piscean psycho-dramatic passions & emotions that really embarrass the terribly rational Moon & Rising…

Sooo, an ex-lover of baseball champion Alex Rodriguez (A.k.a. A-Rod and the gentleman linked to Madonna for a bit) has come forth and told the NY Daily News that “his vanity is of mythic proportions.”

My god, the gentleman is a LEO and an wealthy, sports superstar Leo at that. I mean, what’s not to indulge there. But the Ex then claims that the gigantic pics of himself above the athlete’s bed are of him as a Centaur.

That’s interesting.  It makes me think that someone has done his chart and that he’s got Saggo Rising & thus he’s sort of working that. Because, some astrologers WOULD say that. I mean, to work the Sagittarius Rising angle, for extra luck. No birthtime online for  him but he’s got Neptune in Saggo at 9 degrees. Saggo Rising would fit as he is (a) obviously into sports and (b) he has a certain goo-goo eyed Neptunian charisma along with the Leonic stuff.

Or maybe he does not give a damn for his astro and he’s just really, really into Centaurs?

Or perhaps the ex-lover was a bit dim and the mythological creatures that A-Rod had himself painted into as gigantic portraits hanging above the bed (I would never do that but so totally admire the chutzpah) were something else…like Minotaurs? He has got Mars in Taurus.

It’s not just the Dark Moon. There is a certain tone I’m picking up on in the comments, love weirding & restlessness. It’s the Dark Moon excabarated by Saturn inching (centimetering?) along in the last degrees of Virgo. But think about this: Uranus in Pisces has been kept in check by Saturn in Virgo since late 2008.  Now, from October 30, Uranus is going to be off the leash. Yes.

Yes-yes-YES, Saturn goes on to square Pluto (Saturn is always doing something, as you know) & that is a whole other saga but so far as Uranian nights and days goes – this means fun, fast individuation, fast-forming relationships, fast-imploding relationships and sudden developments. All of the Saturn in Virgo lessons you have so painstakingly learned over the last year or whatever now come into play.  Five months (from October 30 till early April) of Uranus at play

Ideally? All that Saturn in Virgo slog has led to you being more secure, organised, together, self-reliant and now actually able to have the Uranian love affair/existence/career gig of your dreams. Of course, if you don’t get with the Saturn vibe of the last year or so, it comes back to reality-check you next April.

If you’ve got Ascendent, Venus, Mars, Sun, Moon – anything really, in late Pisces, Virgo, Saggo or Gemini – prep for Uranian Love Weirding and/or cool Uranian peeps to enter your life with the express purpose of disrupting and enhancing it.

Brigitte-Bardot-431

Today is BB’s birthday & she really is a classic free-loving multiple conjunct Libran — Sun, Mercury and Jupiter. Saggo Rising, a tight Venus-Neptune conjunction and Moon in Gemini on the cusp of her House of Love.

This is from the Guardian

“…Simone De Beauvoir wrote: “When Marlene Dietrich exhibited her silk-wrapped thighs while singing in her husky voice, she was casting a spell . . . Brigitte Bardot doesn’t cast spells; she acts. Her flesh doesn’t have the generosity that symbolises passivity. Her clothes are not fetishes and when she undresses, she reveals no mystery. She simply shows off her body, which is in constant movement. She walks, she dances, she moves. In the hunting game, she is both hunter and prey. Males are an object for her, as much as she is an object for them. This is precisely what hurts males’ pride.” It was clear to all that Bardot, like Albert Camus’s stranger, experienced the world through her senses.

Nowadays, feminists both in Britain and the US would shriek in horror at the thought that Bardot might be heralded as the emblem of the liberated woman. But that is just how designer Nicole Farhi remembers her: “Bardot was totally liberated; it was extraordinary to see, especially at a time when no women were allowed to be, and it was all the more unusual that she came from a bourgeois family. It was fantastic to see that she could just throw conventions away. She lived the way she pleased, she dressed the way she wanted; in that sense her freedom was very provocative.”

Provocative but never lewd. “A liberated woman is the opposite of an easy and frivolous woman,” wrote De Beauvoir. For her, Bardot’s sense of freedom was absolute, almost existential. Unlike today’s self-acclaimed liberated young women, who claim to feel empowered by the act of pole-dancing, with Bardot there is no attempt at manipulation or deception.

“Bardot’s naturalness seems more perverse than any kind of sophistication. To despise as she does jewels, makeup and high heels is to refuse to transform oneself into an idol. It is to assert oneself the equal of men. It is to recognise that between men and women, there is only desire and mutual pleasure. This is precisely what made her appear so dangerous in the eyes of society,” wrote De Beauvoir…”

And, yes there is probably some argument against her for her denouncing a certain racial group over their animal rights abuses but you know what? The woman is Saggo Rising (ie; will say what she wants, freedom of speech LOUD being paramount to Saggability) but I think a lot of the hostility toward her has more to do with the above-mentioned free-living, lack of corseting etc and growing old…old, barefoot, sun-tanned & apparently individuated as all get out.

“I used to have this, this idea, that I was sort of like, part of, like, this alien race that were part Venus and part American Indian. Now this sounds kind of funny now, but I was very serious about it as a child. [Laugh.] I had a whole cosmology and a whole universe, formed around these thoughts. But, I definitely didn’t feel at home on the planet. I felt much more at home when I’d read books about the Aztecs, or about, or if I’d read stories about aliens on other planets. Or I just, I didn’t really feel like I belonged… Those private thoughts I had, were part of my creative energy, or the complexity of my mind, but I wasn’t a disturbed child, I was just, a little off-beat, I guess.”

Patti Smith – Sun-Mars in Capricorn, Saggo Rising, Moon in Pisces, Neptune Conjunct Midheaven & Saturn conjunct Pluto in Leo. The latter two aspects bring her (astrologically) in line with John Lennon as a collective muse for the Pluto in Leo generation, carrier of many projections. Sun-Mars in 2nd house SUCH a grounding gift for her.

I think that your childhood DreamScape is perhaps the most intensely personal & amazing part of yourself – it comes before the earthy intimacies of sex & money and exists devoid of functional/dysfunctional families, class et al. And Mars in Cancer/Kataka + Mercury Retrograde for most of September is a fab time to resurrect your childhood DreamScape, with productive and loving intent. I sound woo-woo, like i need to order some henna and a lilac kaftan – but it’s so true.

Sometime in the next few weeks, ponder your childhood DreamScape & profit…

“Regret is an appalling waste of energy; you can’t build on it; it is good only for wallowing in.”

Katherine Mansfield, the writer.

SHE was Libra with her Libran Sun conjunct Uranus (free-thinker, ahead of her time) and a lovely great big gallumping Mars in Saggo Rising + Venus-Mercury in Scorpio… Which if it were being expressed freely, would want to regenerate and could stand to stagnate. That’s just f.y.i.

But is there an astro-signature for regret or not giving a damn?  I always think the Mutables (Gemini, Virgo, Sagg & Pisces) are the LEAST inclined to it – purely because they like to keep things chugging along + they’re kind of amoral, with the poss exception of our Virgo.

And yes I know it was the Saggo Edith Piaf who sang Non, je ne regrette rien (No, i regret nothing) but it always seems like it’s such a lie. Or is that the point?

I’m thinking that a heavy Saturn placement would incline one toward regret?  Hands up who agrees with Katherine Mansfield?

“If one is a greyhound, why try to look like a pekingese,” enquired the acerbic Virgoan Edith Sitwell – a biography of her was called A Unicorn Among Lions and there are natural echoes of The Ugly Duckling.

But the interesting astro idea is that your Rising and/or Ascendent sign really IS your best look.  If you do not know your Rising/Ascendent sign, you can figure it out via Astrodienst or via an astrologer. Once you have it, read that along with your Sun sign in any scope…See how it feels…

Do you embody your Rising Sign astrologically? It makes fashion/image a LOT easier once you accept it and – for astro-fiends only, look at the house placement of your ruling planet (ruler of the ascendent) for the BASE energy of your Look…I swear it makes AMAZING sense upon pondering. You can also have fun looking to fashion/image choices at 7 year intervals – 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 etc – as these are all strong Saturn-Uranian flashpoints.

And of course if you have any BIG outer planet (Uranus, Pluto, Neptune) sitting on our Ascendent (such transits take at least 18 months) then  will perform a spectacular makeover, ready or NOT.  Ascendent astro WORKS. If you need to buy new clothes, wait until Venus is hovering nearby your Asc. Anyway, I am interested in the query – does your look embody your rising sign?

Aries Rising would need bold, primary colours – especially red. Taurus old world luxe & texture v.important. Gemini – trend fiend. Kataka would SO slink around in vintage. Leo, like a Versace look & blinged  up with golden aura. Virgo; precise, layered and with some thought behind it. Libra; classic bombshell. Scorpio; black leather, Sagg; boho & gear from their travels. Cap; austere, power. Aqua; prob the same thing ALL the time but it works? Pisces; crystally yoga wear & aura enhancing hues…

“…The queen said she wished it was me that broke into her bedroom….”  Russell Brand

He’s such a Gemini man & I totally didn’t want to like him but Russell Brand’s performance in the otherwise sooo forgettable Forgetting Sarah Marshall – as this really up-himself Boho sex-godly yet inane rock star – is hilarious. In case you don’t know his work, he’s a Brit comic, tall, complicated Goth looking and openly sex-obsessed ex-drug/drink addict who has just chronicled (somehow really amusingly, from the bits I have read) his previously degenerate life in a an autobio. He’s hilarious. Yet vile.

This Daily Beast review nails him and it’s so funny as it coudl describe many a Gemini man, no?

“…Upon first impression, Russell Brand is incredibly charming, gut-bustingly funny and endearingly self-deprecating; the kind of person who makes you feel like you’re the lucky attendee at an exclusive party of you and him. But as time passes, the cloying neediness behind the charm occasionally flickers forward, and the veil of self-deprecation is pulled back to reveal a relentless narcissism. As an experience it’s fascinating, but ultimately exhausting….”

And then Russell Brand describes HIMSELF thus: “If you strip away self-effacement, charm, and the spirit of mischief… you’re left with a right asshole.”

He actually IS a Gemini but his chart (no birthtime) is really interesting:  Venus square Uranus and Mars square Pluto trine Neptune. Mercury trine Uranus. Neptune square Sun.  So his Sun, Mars and Venus are all the subject of tight squares from heavy Outer Planets. So he’s an extremophile and he would have loads of challenges – obviously – to crunch through pre-Saturn-Return. But he’s cracked the code of them and turned what could have been merely an ultimately leaden and merciliess drug etc addiction into gold. And managed to mine the humour…I’m guessing the Neptune is rising in Saggo…I mean, the candour (not just about drugs but about such things as being horrendously fat as a child etc) the height (Sagg Rising usually v.tall) and the camera loves him.

From my Mercury-in-Ariean skimmings of mags/news, if there were one person to pin the current fiscal shitfeast on, it would be Bernie Madoff, banker to the extremely wealthy.  If you are not familiar with his story, this article here quicky explains how a former lifeguard who started on Wall St in 1960 with $5000 wound up pulling off the ‘largest investor fraud in history.’ Yet he helped to invent the technology that later became NASDAQ, he concocted all sorts of pioneering stockbrokering whizzery. If you read his Wiki or the article above, the consequences & blow-back of this are just staggering.

So I’m reading all this guff, going W.T.F. is this guy’s chart like. It’s like he is Darth Vader. I mean, he starts out good & innovative, some kind of genius with lucre, he’s a dad, loving husband & major force for philanthropy and then – voomp – a criminal under house arrest apparently, which is probably a good thing for him given the sorts of people he’s pissed off. In one thing i read, it said a whole Arab state is down $400 million. Another mentioned Russian oligarchs. Then there is Kevin Bacon. Yes, also affected.

Okay, so his birthdate is April 29 1938. No time. He is one of the last of the Pluto in Cancer generation, who were a stoic lot, born after the dreadful holocaust of W.W.I and into a depression et al.

He’s a Taurus with Uranus conjunct his Sun. So, a Uranian with the energy straining to express itself via the Fixed Earth sign of Taurus. Venus sextiles Pluto. Most seriously wealthy peeps have some sort of strong Jupiter-Pluto signature. He has them quincunx. Jupiter in Aquarius also squares Venus in Taurus and his Nodes. That’s a bit of avarice but he took it way O.T.T.

Neptune in Virgo makes NO bigtime aspects that i can see from a chart sans birthtime – with the birthtime, he’s gotta have some Neptune action going on. He got discovered as SATURN went over his Neptune in Virgo – i’m thinking it’s his midheaven & he’s Sagg rising. His Mars is in tricky old Gemini…Oh and he was born under Retrograde Mercury…
