Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet Vanity Fair

Okay, this is so flip but after I saw Revolutionary Road, i had a few gins (what else after that movie would feel so right?) and said to the Scorpio Sex Academic that i was stunned the relationship between Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet could survive that movie. So, um, cathartic. And anyway, apparently it didn’t.

Things obviously run their course and it IS break-up season for non-viable set-ups (Saturn opposite Uranus again) and I don’t really have much to say re this but looking at KW’s chart, I’m stunned by how truly Libran she is. Maybe almost too much Libra for a Leo film director husband to handle. Leo and Libra is a beautiful match but Libra can often times so effortlessly out-shine the Leo and they DO compete…

Her chart shows up Pluto in Libra, Fortuna in Libra, Libra Rising, Sun in Libra, Moon in Libra and Mercury in Libra…all bunched tightly together. That’s a lot of Libra and now Saturn is about to go tromping over the lot. She will probably do great things out of all this but it will feel austere.

Mr Mendes is a Leo yes but a whole heap of his planets are in guess what sign…Virgo. SO he’s a multiple conjunct Virgo with a multiple conjunct Libran woman.

There is some nice Mars-Venus synergy there (his Mars is in Libra and her Venus is actually in Virgo, conjunct HIS Venus in Virgo) but think of all that Virgoan energy crashing into hyperbolic multi-Libran Kate.

I’ve read a bit of this interview with John Mayer but enough to generally go with the consensus that he does talk a lot about, er, onanism & sound sort of crass raving on re his love life. Why-why-why when he is supposedly a suave Libran male??? Or – as irate e-mailers quite often insist – is there a darker side to the Libran charms?

Mr Mayer is a multiple conjunct Libra – Pluto-North-Node-Mercury-Sun all in Libra. The Sun/Mercury conjunction is a classic indicator of wit & his Twitter is hilarious…but it also squares a pass-agg Mars in Cancer (could be cruel, an almost Tourettes like ability to pop out astute observations at the wrong time) and he’s got Moon-Neptune in Sagittarius…Idealism and stream of consciousness candour…Fab for composition of music & being an Artiste, of course.

I’d bet the crass convo re masturbation & all conceals a man who is deeply connected to the idea of a twin soul or similar…Moon = women & Neptune = yearnings…His Venus in late Virgo squares that Moon-Neptune in Saggo so there you have the trickiness. Part-urge to merge & tantric consciousness/part ready to dump someone for getting split ends or dropping an H.

Sometime in the early Eighties, my parents were really appalled to be lent a copy of this book by some friends of theirs who said it had done something incredible to their sex lives. My father – Anglican, Aquarius – went ballistic at the familiarity. So they put it someplace & never looked at it.

Then some relations of mine (schoolboys) turned up to stay for a week, from boarding school. They had THEIR copy of this book only it had been passed around the dormitory for a year and was suitably grubby, dog-eared, scuffed, scribbled in and worse. I went and got the OTHER copy of the book to compare, for some reason.

Then, when the friends who’d lent their pristine copy to my parents returned, my mother handed it back with an apologetic Anglican smirk, explaining that they had not even had time to LOOK at it. Only it was not at all convincing because somehow the books had gotten mixed up.

The boys went back to school with a clean copy of The Joy Of Sex and my mother had to hand back the tatty copy that had some of the pages stuck together and smutty diagrams scribbled all over the place.

ANYWAY, that’s the only one i’ve ever read and the illustrations freaked me out totally, the guy in particular.

Someone must be buying these things…Which sign IS most likely to read sex manuals? I have Mercury in Aries so i don’t read manuals for anything, not even dishwashers.

Oh, have just remembered – i read the Kama Sutra – front to back. All I remember is something called Congress of the Goat and that only concubines talk to Elephant Drivers.

Note also that sex manuals big in the 70s, when Pluto was in Libra and Uranus either in Libra or Scorpio.

Shall we do this by Pluto?  At the start of the  60s: Pluto in Virgo, the 80s Pluto in Libra & the 00s Pluto in Sagittarius. Could hair-free be a Saggo thing??? I always think of them as haute hippies to busy to be bothered with that sort of crap but if it could vibe to them as liberating, why not??? Aesthetically, Librans are the most likely to deplore the yicky biology of body hair. Or was it some sort of sexualisation, thank you Pluto in Scorpio?? Which sign waxes the most??

My friend Aqua-Girl was really amazed the other night (and she is reasonably  unshockable) when i said i did not have scales. SHE has a full body scan fat monitor device that measures bone density, fat percentage, metabolic age, weight and a whole pile of other things. It is basically a computer in her bathroom and the technology is such that it would have been impossible a few years ago. It can wirelessly send info to her scheduler online, instruct her in how many kilojoules she requires that day & talk to her heart  monitor wristwatch.

I asked, for a joke, if it could connect with her Lucid Dreaming REM Goggles & she looked instantly alert & then made several notes in her iPhone (which also connects with the Heart Monitor & bathroom bone scanner) which i presume have something to do with her intent to somehow hot-wire the lucid dreaming goggles up to the other Personal Wellness Devices.

Oh and while we are on gadgets, she also has some brand of Swedish personal massager (am not going to see V word in case get blocked by some peeps with work browser thingies) that is so technologically advanced that it bought her to tears (of joy) the first time she used it. Aqua-Girl IS a multiple-Conjunct Aquarius – Sun, Mercury, Venus and Ascendent all trined by Pluto in Libra. But still…is this an Aquarian thing?

Astro-Gwyneth & Defending GOOP

I’m not madly pro nor anti Gwyneth & don’t mind GOOP, her lifestyle tips site & newsletter. I love reading the detox articles, probably as she and I both have Mars in Virgo and that’s an astr0-signature for getting excited over the prospect of a good cleanse.

Mars-in-Virgo peeps enjoy reading about how they’re gonna cleanse the hell out of their over-yeasty intestines and the strange, scary food additives so unable to be metabolised that they have to be purged. And secretly, Mars-in-Virgo likes to think about attaining some other-worldly alien standard of perfection.

But I am interested in why, when she could be leading a perfectly cool acclaimed artist/sleb/mother etc life, she became so intent upon sharing her fashion, cooking, exercise, fasting etc tips with the whole world??? I do think it’s partly a good strong Mars in Virgo effort to raise the consciousness of people by sharing info from her own personal gurus. People bitch about her & say that her recommendations are elite but i feel she’s actually trying to glean the info from her team & pass it onto people who may never see a nutritionist in their whole life & certainly not a Park Avenue one, or whomever the Gwyneth patronises.

And, of all the things in the world worth slagging off, is The Gwyneth/GOOP really a major candidate??? Plus maybe it’s my Moon in Libra but i don’t care how fake/airbrushed the above image is, her skin and hair look amazing. It’s like she’s actually the Empress of Librans.

The GOOP thing coincided with Saturn into her totally crowded 7th house. That’s right. Her house of love is completely packed with planets…She likes/needs/wants to be in a relationship. It’s almost like one person is not enough – very Libran – but she’s not polyamorous & so she’s defining (Saturn) a relationship (7th House) with the world…

She has Sun conjunct Pluto natally so that’s a powerhouse of a woman – GOOP is just the start. The Gwyneth is a Plutonian. She’ll start something in the next few years, prob based on her macrobiotic/organic etc beliefs and it will be society-altering. Pluto is squaring this natal Sun-Pluto conjunction so there you  go. And she’ll attract the usual howling down from ye olde hat commentators defending their archaic beliefs.  Pluto is not only squaring her Sun for the next few years, it’s on her Jupiter in the 10th house – Brilliant Career & public profile – so since early 2008 she would have felt an intense desire to transform her public persona to be a more authentic and useful expression of whom she is. And Jupiter – helping the masses!

Plus – she has Uranus conjunct Ceres so there’s an innovative style of nurturing right there…I think The Gwyneth is genius…

Generation Leo

Lately, due to the loss of certain “generational icons” & this article re the so-called Jones Generation (apparently sandwiched between the Boomers and the Xers) there has been a bit of chat re generations.

Astrologically, there is really no such thing as the Jones Generation – one tends to think in terms of Pluto generations & you could break those up into sub-groupings of their Uranus sign. The outer planets – Uranus, Neptune & Pluto – linger in one sign long enough to add their style to whole generations.

For instance, you have the Pluto in Leo generation (see pic above for one of their icons – still doing fabulously well), born between 1939 & 1957. The start & end years are blurry as Pluto  hops back and forth between Leo & Virgo. But that is essentially Pluto in Leo. Then there is the Pluto in Virgo generation from 1957 to 1970 & Pluto in Libra from then till 1984…When we got Pluto in Scorpio until 1995.

I always think of the Boomers as classically Pluto-Leonic, right down to their rebellion involving sex, hair & music. Thoughts? And do you identify with your generation?

Robo-Model: a hint of Saturn in Libra?

This is HRP4c – the world’s first robo-model, to be launched at the Tokyo Fashion week today…Oh it sounds silly but you saw how Pluto in Libra really led to the rise of model-culture.  So could Saturn in Libra threaten real-life model careers with not just the G.F.C. but a punctual, non-cokehead and unlikely to get involved in a sex scandal robo-model competition?

And is it better to have Robo-Models than the older ideal of robo-housewives?

March 23 would be considered the ‘birthday’ of HRP4C s0 she has Sun square Pluto (prone to power-trippy struggles and transformative challenges to her identity), Mercury with Uranus (innovative, unusual thinker – lol), Mars moving to oppose Saturn and conjoin Uranus (more aggression and power struggles with authority) plus Venus Retrograde in Aries…An eccentric love persona. Moon in Aquarius. Detached. Robotic…

She may find it hard to get along with other women. Especially ones like this…

George & Fatima Up A Tree?

Have just been reading this fantastic Telegraph article re the possible romance between George Clooney & Fatima Bhutto.

“…Fresh from an ill-fated entanglement with a Las Vegas cocktail waitress, George Clooney, Hollywood’s Armani-suited Renaissance Man-on-call, is reported to have fallen for 26-year-old Fatima Bhutto, the new star of Pakistan’s greatest political dynasty. Across the sub-continent the excitement spread like Valentine’s Weekend wildfire. And why not? George is radical, Fatima is chic. It has to work out this time….”

Oddly enough, having adored Clooney in a number of movies (Intolerable Cruelty, Oceans 11, Three Kings & even One Fine Day) I actually got a bit sick of the sight of him last year. Prob just over-exposure, a bit like every mag having Kate Hudson on the cover at the moment and more or less the same article re her fabulosity.  But GC is incredible & apart from her being gorgeous & about 20 years younger than him, Ms Bhutto – the neice of Benazir – would seem to be a really interesting choice of would-be girlfriend for him. She, apparently, is not so keen because of the age gap & her fairly intense concerns in Pakistan.

And, looking at the astro between them, i wondered if she had an astrologer run the charts & then flipped. I mean really. With no time of birth for her (May 29 1982) it’s hard to be definitive about this but still…A few highlights. Or maybe lowlights.

George Clooney is a Taurus (Sun conjunct Mercury) with Pisces Rising and Moon-Saturn in Capricorn. That Moon-Saturn is a very sombre position & despite his debonair aura, that denotes a person who is very careful/conservative with giving his heart & most likely with good reason. Early hurt etc etc.Ms Bhutto is an early Gemini with Moon in Leo & we don’t know the rising due to no time. Her Venus in Aries squares (challenging) his sensitive Moon-Saturn in Capricorn combo. Her Pluto in Libra squares that Moon-Saturn in Capricorn combo. Both have Venus in Aries but not conjunct.

So that’s like a kind of similarity. But then her Saturn in Libra opposes his Venus. Her Jupiter squares his Jupiter. Her Sun squares his Chiron. Oh – a nice one – her Sun in Gemini trines his Jupiter in Aquarius. Her Uranus squares his Pisces Ascendent. Her Sun squares his Pisces Ascendent. This is a LOT of squares – ie; challenges -  & that is just from a cursory glance.

Some squares between charts are good. They are all about growth. And you certainly know when the other person’s in the room. But too many makes for just old-fashioned they-get-on-your-nerves-ishness. Of course, if they did manage to overcome some of the obstacles between them, doesn’t this mean George Clooney could one day be first “lady” of Pakistan? Or first man? And would it help or hinder U.S-Pakistani relations?

Oh and note that Saturn has just entered George Clooney’s 7th house for the first time in 29 years. So he is suddenly incapable of casual relationships. It would have to either be a significant partnership (apparently with some geopolitical impact as well, as he is such an  O.T.T. show-off with his cute little Mars at Zero degrees of Leo) or nothing-at-all. She is his Saturn-in-the-7th house manifestation. And maybe the Saturnine lesson would be a woman he cannot have…I am not generally judgemental re age gaps but i do think it is easier if both parties are either pre or post Saturn Return. It makes SUCH a difference.

Then again, she is having her Saturn Return in 2011 & with Saturn opposing her natal Venus shortly thereafter, reflecting a challenging & intense relationship most likely with an older person.
