Pluto in Leo

So there is v.serious article in Time Mag about whether or not it’s empowering to keep dying your hair & an article in the Times about how even young girls are adopting a “gunmetal grey” mane to be cool. I was born blonde and I intend to stay blonde so this is not remotely an issue for me.

But it’s an interesting Pluto in Cap style trend & this is going to make me sound mega-bimbonic, I realise, but i don’t think i actually know any woman who don’t dye their hair. At no matter what age – the only question really is whether they’re adept at d.i.y. or hooked on a colourist habit. My son’s female friends cannot even get together sans colouring their hair – applying gunk onto one another’s roots is how they bond. Are any of you intending to let gray hairs show or do you?

And what sign are you?  No, wait, what sign is your Venus…I am wondering if there is a Venus sign that would say ‘fuq it’ and charge around with their silvery mane. I am thinking Saggo…

Also, I suppose Pluto in Capricorn is going to totally revolutionise the way we treat elders in our society. That or the Pluto in Leo baby boomers will demand it. There are already some extraordinary examples of peeps being amazing – fit, functional, vital, ultra-healthy, gorgeous – at any age peeps used to be written off. Life starts at the Uranus Return Lol.

Here is one for travel-one-upping Sagittarians!  The Galactic Suites will be open for guests in 2012. IF they can keep their funding flowing in. Space hotels are v.expensive, as you can imagine. It will cost about $4 million a week or something to stay there. So, no backpackers. There is some anonymous billionaire space travel enthusiast who has already tipped in $3 billion.

And, okay, I may be wrong about the Sagittarians…I should not astro-cliche them such. But, okay, apart from Richard Branson (Pluto in Leo Rising, Jupiter in Pisces trine his Cancerian Uranus, interesting) I cannot see Cancerians stampeding to stay at a Space Hotel. Or anyone sensitive. I mean, wouldn’t it sort of revoltingly combine agoraphobia AND a bit of claustro? If some mysterious trillionaire shouted you a week at Galactic Suites, would you go? I wouldn’t. But I have Jupiter in Taurus/4th House. Tres earthed.

I reckon Fire Signs would totally go. Leo would send the space shuttle pilots mental by carrying on with his space travel tips. Libra would go if there was a the-Zero-gravity-of-space-has-sensational-complexion-refining-benefits. Gemini? Yes. And then they would attempt to become the first person (?) to have sex in space or something. A Virgo in space is an AMAZING thought. I swear, even in totally sterile, airlocked conditions, the Virgo would find a scuff mark and try to send off a helpful memo about altering the style of space boots used.

Scorpio -it would depend on the variety of Scorp. If it did not trigger any violent aversions,  yes. Capricorn – absolutely, think of the status, the opportunities for advancement and the networking. O.m.g. the NAME dropping. “Yah, well when I was at the Galactic Suites, the other day, Bill and I agreed that there was really nothing like the view of Arkansas from space…”

So I am thinking El Toro, Kataka and Pisces – absolutely not.  Aquarius??? Naturally.  Aqua-Girl is BOUND to be already working her contacts. She is probably hooking herself up with a job there.

Age shall not weary the Aries gent. Especially not when Mars (ruler of men and Arieans and stupid stunts that nonetheless look cool) is in flamboyant Leo. This is Elton John performing in Barcelona as Mars crosses his Saturn and Pluto in Leo.

Anne Bonny was a rebel, a beauty and an amazingly resourceful pirate of her day. Plus she was a Piscean. Born on March 8 1700, her Dad was the married employer of a household in Ireland, her mother the maid. Anne Bonny was raised in Carolina, where she married a small time pirate but ran off with another one, the infamous Calico Jack Rackham.

There are SO many stories about this woman: Some say that her husband offered to “sell” her (a then-existent quickie divorce fee) to her pirate lover but she refused and was thus sentenced to be flogged for infidelity. But she escaped and became a notorious pirate, plunderer and raider. The only other female pirate of the era (ever?) was Mary Read, her rumoured lover. At one point, Anne Bonny was captured and sentenced to be executed but again, she mysteriously escaped & nothing was ever heard of her again.

Her astro:  Sun, Mercury and Saturn in Pisces…trined by Mars in Scorpio…Jupiter in Capricorn, Lilith in Aquarius opposite Pluto in Leo, Venus/Neptune in Aries square Uranus in Cancer…

Thoughts; Did she actually storm ships with her tits out or is that just how the artists liked to depict her???  A la her unconventional lifestyle. And really, for a woman of that time,  her lifestyle was about as non-trad as you can possibly get. I am thinking she had her Uranus in Cancer rising, as she also had children. Fancy combining THAT with pirating. Then.

And Mars in Scorpio is the same as would-be-teen solo round the world yachter Laura Dekker – try to stop these chicks doing anything and WEEP. Mars LOVES to be in Scorpio….Remember that Mars ruled Scorpio before Pluto was discovered.

“I used to have this, this idea, that I was sort of like, part of, like, this alien race that were part Venus and part American Indian. Now this sounds kind of funny now, but I was very serious about it as a child. [Laugh.] I had a whole cosmology and a whole universe, formed around these thoughts. But, I definitely didn’t feel at home on the planet. I felt much more at home when I’d read books about the Aztecs, or about, or if I’d read stories about aliens on other planets. Or I just, I didn’t really feel like I belonged… Those private thoughts I had, were part of my creative energy, or the complexity of my mind, but I wasn’t a disturbed child, I was just, a little off-beat, I guess.”

Patti Smith – Sun-Mars in Capricorn, Saggo Rising, Moon in Pisces, Neptune Conjunct Midheaven & Saturn conjunct Pluto in Leo. The latter two aspects bring her (astrologically) in line with John Lennon as a collective muse for the Pluto in Leo generation, carrier of many projections. Sun-Mars in 2nd house SUCH a grounding gift for her.

I think that your childhood DreamScape is perhaps the most intensely personal & amazing part of yourself – it comes before the earthy intimacies of sex & money and exists devoid of functional/dysfunctional families, class et al. And Mars in Cancer/Kataka + Mercury Retrograde for most of September is a fab time to resurrect your childhood DreamScape, with productive and loving intent. I sound woo-woo, like i need to order some henna and a lilac kaftan – but it’s so true.

Sometime in the next few weeks, ponder your childhood DreamScape & profit…

I don’t have much of an Olivia Newton John consciousness though I recall being impressed by her morph from Madonna to Ho in Grease & then getting to (compulsorily) reappraise the transformation during feminist studies at uni a few years later. She is a Libra, of course and her public image has remained gracious and beautiful through a bout with being very ill, her daughter’s anorexia and her lover being accused of having faked his own demise. He was  said to have been drowned at sea back in late June of 2005.

Now Patrick McDermott is apparently back, found or something…And no, there is no birthdate for him as he was adopted from Korea…not even a day, damn it. But HERS is interesting…I don’t know her Moon Degree or Ascendent but her Moon is Cancerian and Saturn was in Cancer at the time of the incident. BUT ONJ has Venus conjunct Pluto in Leo and when her then-lover took off (?) she had Neptune directly opposite her Venus & Pluto.  Totally appropriate astro for an aquatic mystery involving perhaps an element of deceit.  And this apparent reappearance occurs as Jupiter is opposite her Venus & Pluto…Mars will be crossing it in Nov/Dec and then again in May of next year.

Lately, due to the loss of certain “generational icons” & this article re the so-called Jones Generation (apparently sandwiched between the Boomers and the Xers) there has been a bit of chat re generations.

Astrologically, there is really no such thing as the Jones Generation – one tends to think in terms of Pluto generations & you could break those up into sub-groupings of their Uranus sign. The outer planets – Uranus, Neptune & Pluto – linger in one sign long enough to add their style to whole generations.

For instance, you have the Pluto in Leo generation (see pic above for one of their icons – still doing fabulously well), born between 1939 & 1957. The start & end years are blurry as Pluto  hops back and forth between Leo & Virgo. But that is essentially Pluto in Leo. Then there is the Pluto in Virgo generation from 1957 to 1970 & Pluto in Libra from then till 1984…When we got Pluto in Scorpio until 1995.

I always think of the Boomers as classically Pluto-Leonic, right down to their rebellion involving sex, hair & music. Thoughts? And do you identify with your generation?

Well, I love that the Ancient Mayans aced the Venus cycles absolutely yonks ago – without telescopes et al, they figured that the Morning Star & the Evening Star – Venus a.k.a. Xolotl – were the same planet, even though appearing on different sides of the sky.

But so far as the future goes, I’m  backing Ray Kurzweil,  a futurist, entrepeneur & mathmatician who says we are about to experience a fabulous & mind-boggling event known as The Singularity.  I was reading a profile of the gent this morning & I knew within nanoseks that he is an Aquarius.  Even apart from The Singularity, all the Aqua indicators were there…

* He invented a program called FatKat – Financial Accelerating Transactions from Kurzweil Adaptive Technologies – that plays the stockmarket for him so that he has more time for other projects. He also invented an automatic poetry generator called the Cybernetic Poet. He has a part-time employee purely to manage his vitamins and nutritional supplements. He is currently working on nanobots that will be injected inside the body to extend human lifespan. Has not consumed sugar for decades but drinks red wine daily, for the reservaterol.

And yah! He is Aquarius – Feb 12 1948 so also with Saturn-Pluto in Leo & Uranus trining his Aqua Sun.

I can’t quite grok what The Singularity is all about…only that amazing technology will be harnessed for the good of ALL – ie; feed the whole world & revolutionise all that ails us now. This would, of course, be a wonderful manifestation of innovative Uranus in gung-ho, pioneering Aries, Pluto in Capricorn & Neptune in Pisces….All of which is upon us soon.

So, next time someone grizzles to me about the Mayans, 2012 movie et al – I shall say ‘but what about The Singularity?’ and be done with it.

Why even THINK about when Saturn was last at this point in Virgo?

Because Saturn is all about Time…His Greek name is Chronos from whence we get all manner of time-linked words…Chronological. Chronometer, which is the correct name for a watch…Probably even Crone. So every now and then, it is good to check in to Saturnine cycles – they are like those of Uranus; Seven years…Seven, fourteen, 28…

IF you are old enough, the last time Saturn was at mid-Virgo was August 1979…Thinking about another time, but similar in the Saturnine sense, can trigger fantastic insights….

Gia Carangi was on the cover of Cosmopolitan…

p9x8f4p_large1

Born in late January 1960, she was an Aquarian supermodel & an openly lesbian one at that – in the 70’s, it was harder – & ultra-charismatic, even by the standards of mods and doomed icons. Some fashion peeps say she innovated modelling by kinetic style of posing et al. That sort of thing is so arguable. Sadly, she was hooked on heroin by the 80s and dead of AIDS at the age of 26, in the late 80s. Her fave song – this is so 80s – Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Minds was played at her funeral, Angelina Jolie won a Golden Globe for playing her in Gia & it took Cindy Crawford years to shrug off the moniker of “baby Gia.”

Gia astro; Sun, Moon & Mercury in Aquarius, Venus, Mars and Saturn all in Capricorn, Uranus in Leo trine Jupiter in Saggo – charisma to burn and she basically did burn it all up. Neptune in Scorp squared all the Aqua stuff & such a sad “lower” Neptunian end (drugs) to all the beauty and glam. The emo pf the fan-sites, net culture & v-clips of her etc is extraordinary. She is SO the Gen X version of Marilyn. Not in the sense of actress/lifetime accomplishments etc but in the love-for-doomed-young-icon-of-generation sense. It’s just that Gia was not of the Boomer (Pluto in Leo) generation…They really laud their icons. So if you went to a kitsch shop, you’d imagine Elvis Presley, Marilyn and James Dean actually were the last lot of passed slebs we ever cared for.

ANYWAY – a Saturnine psych query if you are up for it…and if u are old enuf – what did you Leave Behind or Cherish in 1979 that you could now reclaim? As Saturn is sitting on this point for the next few months before opposing iconoclastic Uranus, this will be a productive thought session, if  you can manage it. And even if you born post-1979, think re where your family/industry was at then…pre-You! The good thing about pondering Saturn shite? It works. She is also such a beautiful and poignant reminder of people who pass far too soon through something so presumably avoidable as damage from drugs.

The nail polish is named Nude Chic, from Dior & as you can gather from ‘the emperor’s new nails’ tag, nobody can tell you’re wearing it.  It totally fits the Pluto A La Mode vibe.

Monochromatic, non-flashy & no need for upkeep. And so Capricornian as in it’s private. Where-as when Pluto was in Leo, we got the popularity of henna body art, body bling, big wild hair & expressive make-up. Pluto in Libra – the next most beauty-obsessed & exhibitionist sign – bought us injectible fillers. Don’t start me on Pluto in Scorp…

Oh & yes, I already have e-mails from people worried re Friday 13 next week. Don’t! It’s good i.m.o & so are black cats zooming across the path in front of you. Previous reassuring rants re Friday 13 are all here.
