Moon in Leo

Your “astro-signature” is your Ascendent (aka Rising Sign) Sun Sign and Moon Sign.  This is totally arguable but they are the three most dominant points in your chart. And what’s fun is seeing how well they all get along.

For instance, you can see that having – say – Moon in Leo with Sagittarius Rising would be like a party. Moon in Leo would love the Sagg Risings ability to scare up a good time & Saggo Rising would love the take-anywhere nature of Moon in Leo.  Add in the Sun in Libra for some smooth elegance and voila…a harmonious astro-signature. No discordance.

A Taurus-Pisces-Virgo blend? Easy.

But what if you’re an Aries Sun hiding behind a sultry Scorpio Ascendent? More tricky.

So thinking about the potential relations between your Sun, Rising and Moon signs is an interesting way to think about your chart. Plus it’s easy as well. You can turn them into characters & imagine their dialogue.

I DID this once ages ago, with planets, at some sort of astro-gestalt thing. It was sort of interesting but ghastly.  People had to act out someone’s chart and you should have seen how horrid the person playing Saturn immediately let himself get. Venus just whined about her needs not being met and the character playing Mars got the shits and stalked off to smoke furiously outside.

I have Sun in Pisces, Libra Moon and Aquarius Rising so am fairly easy-breezy most of the time but with sudden eruptions of Piscean psycho-dramatic passions & emotions that really embarrass the terribly rational Moon & Rising…

This is Moon in Leo realizing that the Moon is actually in Virgo already and that it’s time to go home, clean her teeth, wash and exfoliate her face, change the linen, moderate the baguette + wine – proper dinner = reasonable nutrition policy, eat something green, contain the psychodramatic flirting hyperbole, sacrifice some lifestyle imperatives in favour of fiscal sanity and sober up. Clarity would be a fine thing.

Soz to spoil any speculation, but i really don’t rate so-called Blue Moons.  There are various definitions of it – the 13th Full Moon in a year that usually has but 12, the 2nd Full Moon in a calendar month but you see, to me a moon cycle IS a month.

My month starts with the New Moon and ends with the very last day of the Dark Moon. ie: right before the next New Moon. The very word month comes from the word Moon. So no, I don’t attribute any special significance to this being the second Full Moon in a calendar “month”…I really don’t.

Mars being mega-close to the Earth/Gaia and in Leo conjunct the Moon is WAY more interesting…A good time for sweeping and theatrically grand gestures that somehow also honour the demands of the Saturn-Pluto Square.

The song is always so pretty.  Dean Martin is insanely Gemini-mannish in this classic clip; See how he cracks up half way through…

If only beauty pageant contestants would more often tell the truth about what really motivates them. We can’t ALL be motivated purely by spiritual growth, concern for the wellbeing of humankind and ecological holistic animus mundi style musings 24-7.  Can we?

When the Moon is in Leo, a bit of self-interest, vanity, lust and art is perfectly healthy. How else can one be Queen or King of the Jungle?

And, after all, don’t even psychologists say that is good to love oneself? That if you don’t love yourself thoroughly then it is impossible to form authentic relationships with other people?

Love Yourself in Latin:  Diligo Vestri.

This  is why Leos are so notorious for their attention to grooming and hair (fur) – it’s more than just the Tao of Vanity.  It is a surface reflection of their belief that they are worth it, their self-love and thus love of humanity.

As  you know, i very rarely into politics and certainly  not into Australian politics as it would surely bore the pants off those viewers from elsewhere. But today, I cannot resist and I thought some of you might like a forum to rave on about this morning’s political events. Please be nice and explain to peeps from elsewhere who jump in what is going on…

Bimbonic thoughts re this:  Malcolm Turnbull and Tony Abbott are both Scorpios. So Malcolm got Scorped by a fellow Scorp.  Kevin Rudd – the Virgo Prime Minister – is now in for a massive bingle with Abbot the Scorpio. Rudd has Moon in Aries. Abbott has his in Leo. Weirdly enough, they are very compatible. Kevin’s Venus is RIGHT on Tony Abbott’s Mars. If they were both gay, they would be ON. They’re born but a few months apart and actually v.similar in many ways. They both remind me a bit of mad monks but I am not sure why.

Until Weds morning in Australia & Tuesday evening in USA/UK, whenit gets into Virgo, the Moon is in LEO & sort of setting off the Mars effect.

So NO way is administrivia going to seem like anything but a fuqing fiendish imposition upon one’s existentialist yearnings, lifestyle quest and general Qi.

Details and the sadly usual slack service from some quarters could send Mars-sensitive-peeps into a TOWERING rage and holy aphrodite, the Saturn-Pluto square…where to start with THAT?

Okay, I will do an extended rave re this in the Daily Mystic & Scopes are dealing with it sign by sign, but the first pass of it is done with my mid-Nov yes, it is the classic ‘forced growth’ vibe of any square with an added frisson from it involving the planets of structure and transformation.

The Moon is now in Leo so we can maybe do this Dark Moon thing in a little more suave fashion…Leos are sometimes said to be bad at copping criticism but the ones I know (along with our Gemini) deflect it brilliantly. They compute whether it is relevant/constructive or not and if it’s just neg-whining, they alchemically transform it into something tres flattering and get back to their beauty sleep/honouring their genius/something compassionate and/or arty.  I confidently anticipate all of us will be more even, now that the Moon has passed Mars and is into Leo…And note also that some  peeps will be going batso at the end of the Mars-Kataka tour of duty. Pass-agg, agg-agg and just a bit sarky. But not us as we channel the powerful Qi of Haute Leo.

Alright, hands up who missed me and I have a new theory re the Kataka Moon…It’s in Kataka until this arvo when it zooms into Leo, btw.  London, New York, L.A etc all wake UP with the Moon in Leo…A big flick of the hair, some grandiose affirmations and WHAM: Life As Art.

Anyway, with this Crabby Moon, my theory is that you feel ratty and/or neurotic (crabby!) during the Cancerian Moon IF you don’t self-nurture. So those of you that caned it – including me – on the weekend when you should  have been lying in bed reading soothing poetry, snorting lavender oil and listening to dolphiny music will totally have found it hard to sleep, due to fretful ‘lower Crab’ freakouts. It’s just a theory.

Yes? No?

This is my vision of a Leo waiting and waiting for the New Moon in her sign; all dressed up but it’s still the damned Dark Moon.

Leos & others are all hanging out for the New Moon in Leo. Not that this Dark Moon is a particular drag – the Sun opposite Jupiter is sure to provide plenty of distractions over the weekend & Saturn is relatively quiet for a few days. But think about this: the 2nd to last New Moon was conjunct Pluto…happy days. The last New Moon was an Eclipse. Both of them were Cancerian New Moons & kinda drastic.

The next New Moon is not only in Leo, it’s sextiled by Mars in Gemini, so very snazzy & not a hint of Pluto, Saturn, Eclipse et al. It’s gilded. And it will also be post-the-Mars-Uranus square. So think about bold, beautiful, big-hearted and big haired resolutions of gold you can make to go with this New Moon….

bespoke_img“…In 1661, the Italian furniture maker Schor, who worked with the sculptor Bernini, made a splendid State bed for the Princess Marie Mancini in Rome. Commissioned to celebrate her firstborn son’s public presentation, it was documented in her writings, “I lay in a new bed prepared for my first son’s birth … and the magnificence of it excited admiration everywhere…”

So, I am sent this by a sweet person who clearly groks my interest & I am oh-my-godding at what is this woman’s SIGN? One thinks Libra, one thinks Leo…Maybe Pisces overdoing the nectar every lunchtime.

So I Wiki the woman and she is a Virgo. Yes. But it gets better!

“She was born in Rome, the daughter of Michele Lorenzo Mancini and Geronima Mazzarini. “Dark, vivacious and beautiful,”[1] Marie captured the biggest prize of the French court: the love of Louis XIV. According to Antonia Fraser’s biography Love and Louis XIV, Marie’s mother, Hieronyma (or Geronima) was told by a horoscope that Marie would cause trouble and demanded on her deathbed that Cardinal Mazarin should “shut Marie up in a convent and keep her there.

So, she is a Virgo & that’s not enough to have people wanting to whack you away in a nunnery…Her Venus in Libra is conjunct Uranus (very much the individualist and free love exponent) but as Uranus was not discovered until 1781, that cannot have been the “problem” with her horoscope.  And besides, her Venus is trine Saturn, which would be welcomed as a stability inducer for sure.

Her Moon is in Leo and if she were born in the morning, it’s conjunct Mars. Moon-Mars in Leo, given the cultural values of the time, was most likely looked upon as the potential trouble….Hot-headed, libidinal, attention seeking and an intense inner life. She would have gone mental in a nunnery & thankfully was not consigned to one after all. Is not her bed pure Mars-Moon in Leo???
