The Selby

Ines De La Fressange is a Leo and whenever i read of her, it seems like she has the perfect job description for a Leo: Model, Mother, Muse, Fashion Designer, French Icon, Socialiste, Heiress, Decorator, Photographer and Fashionista. And in this pic, okay I can’t tell, but I am thinking here is La Leo on her gorgeous creamy white staircase (she has Mercury, Venus + Mars in Virgo so one assumes the staircase gets repainted every couple of months, yes?) and that she is posing in front of other pics of her in full fabulousity throttle….

The Mars-Uranus bingle should go a long way toward off-setting the Cancerian Dark Moonie tendency toward Flash-Nostalgia – we’ll all be too wired to go yearning over yester-century but here it is anyway; the combo of today’s Moonwane in the sign of kataka and the fantasia kick from Neptune could cause the most intense & potentially NAFF nostalgia.  Just don’t go letting it affect your actual forward planning. Just don’t go shopping, trying to contact Mr/Mrs Yestercentury.

I did by mistake. My son put a really old sim card in my new mobile fone & i went and texted a whole lot of ye olde peeps my new number. Infuriating. He has Mercury-Mars-Jupiter in Leo/3rd house so he felt this was like a creative & helpful thing that he was deigning to do for me. So I have had some nostalgia forced upon me. And my new mobile is also signed up to some job-search service so i get texts every hour or so telling me to be in some weird place for an interview to drive a forklift. When i try to respond to say ‘wrong number’ the a fone-bot texts back telling me it’s forbidden to respond & that i have to contact my ‘handler’ or something.

All this sounds like…yes…Mercury Retrograde. It is not retrograde until September 7 but it has just reached it’s shadowzone & the fact i’m already copping Mercurial Bats crap means it’s going to be a goodie!  What is the shadowzone???  Okay, Mercury goes Retrograde on September 7 at six degrees of Libra. It then retrogrades all the way back to 21 degrees of Virgo before going direct again. Mercury is at 21 degrees of Virgo NOW so even though it’s not retrograde, it’s entered the zone. Mercury Retrograde purists don’t count it as being out of shadowzone  until it returns – again – to six degrees of Libra.

So beware flash nostalgia, communications screw-ups and temper tantrums.

Messenger-Of-The-Gods Mercury is – yes – heading toward a smack-up conjunction with Saturn & exact next Tuesday…That’s oh, i dunno, kind of factual.  BUT before then Mercury is opposing Eros & Isis as Pandora conjoins Neptune in Aquarius. This is tres foxy astro – cunning, mercurial enchantment.  No matter how hard you are working or how irritating this final crunching of Saturn over the same turf he has been covering since late 2008 is – some magical astro-weirding is weaving its wiles invisibly. Did I just suddenly start checking out the orbits of Isis, Eros and Pandora to cheer  you up from that nasty Mars-Saturn bingle and do you care if I did????

Mercury is in Virgo and actually, it will go into Libra in late August and then retrograde merrily back into bloody Virgo for a bit. I will discuss this Mercurial Bats situation later. But for now and the next few weeks, Mercury is in Virgo, one of the signs it rules. This is awesome for writing, editing, details & observation.

But be aware also that your powers of observation are kinda peaking – for some of you, this may tip over into actual judgementalism (is that a word?) pickiness and corrective nagging. Right now, it’s in check by an approaching sextile to Venus all blissed out and goo-goo in accepting, nurturing Cancer…But post-Saturday, all Mercury has got to do is rev up for a clash with Mars.

So, vow now to think a trillion times before sending off a shit-missive to someone about a quirk/detail/puncutation error you can’t hack any more to the point that you’d rather move planet than encounter it again. And don’t do crap like staring into magnifying mirrors or going around guilting yourself over perceived failures. Compulsively clean. Edit something. Rearrange your vitamins. Micro-manage sans narking off.

Oh and Daily Scopes glitch FIXED now.

insomnioInsomnia – Remedios Varo

A degree of insomnia is always present with Full Moons. This one is in the hi-vibe, sometimes nervy & prone to short-circuit sign of Aquarius + it’s an Eclipse, of course. Add to that the hi-alert Mercury in Virgo – with a penchant for running through every detail in triplicate, doing analysis on every potential prob in the vicinity and straining to hear/analyze every sound in the environment – and you have some Insomnia. Plus, though Mercury in Virgo is nowhere near close enough to square Mars in Gemini yet, Virgo and Gemini are both Mercury-ruled so Mercury is triggering the kinetic Mars in Gemini via some sort of sympathetic magic, adding some physical restlessness to the equation. So, who’s sleeping & who’s not???

Perhaps unfairly, I am assuming that Cancerians, Librans & Pisceans will be best able to recall their first scent & how they wore it…From a Mercury in Virgo point of view (Mercury has just one into Virgo – carp at your leisure) it would be interesting to note if particular Sun signs have an affinity with different families of scent?  And if peeps essentially stick to the same family of scent the whole way through. eg;  you start with Orientals and more or less stay there, merely maturing your tastes as you go along…Is there any one person who’s always stuck with the same scent??? And if so, what is your sign?

A Leo Uncle who specialised in inappropriate but fabulous gifts gave me a massive bottle of Ma Griffe when i was about 13 & despite being told to “save it for special occasions” I became renowned for reeking of it at school.  It was, of course, WAY too old for me.

The brill book Perfumes – The Guide (Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez) says it is a “classic green chypre, less herbacious than Givenchy III, less dry than Y, more floral than most, and with a Miss Moneypenny spinsterish loveliness that works perfectly if you are nothing of the sort.” Lol!
