D.I.Y. Astro – The 2nd House…Your Wealth Sector

The 2nd house of your chart is known as the House of Earned Income – as opposed to the 8th house which can be money that just sorta comes to you…The 2nd House is your Money Box, your Wealth Sector and is symbolic  of your attitude toward toward lucre, material possessions and – deeper – your sense of self-adequacy.

Look first to the sign on the cusp of the House. And guys, the point of D.I.Y. Astro is that you glomp your chart off Astrodienst & have fun figuring it out here. There are always peeps to help or me, if you spring for an Astro-Query. Anyway, look to the sign on the cusp of the 2nd house. This is FUN. That sign is how you are with $$$.

So even though YOU may be a super-cautious & canny Capricorn, if you’ve got Leo lurking on the cusp of your 2nd – LOL. You will LIKE the sensation of having “proper” champagne in your fridge and you do not give a shit about what some wine wanker says about how some shit-house cheap sparkling wine is superior. No-no-no. You feel soothed by the registered orange hue of the Veuve label. Soothed.

Pisces on the cusp of the 2nd? You are so prone to giving stuff away. Things come to you when you need them as if by osmosis. Things go with ease. You’re like a walking installation of The Secret. Scorpio/Cancer on the cusp of the 2nd? You’re likely to be one of those peeps who just have the investment knack. You leapt in at the start of the tech boom and nipped out again quick smart. You can turn $5 into $500 and to you it’s as sensual and pleasurable as growing something in the garden.

But it’s not just the signs on the cusp of the 2nd. It’s also what’s in there! The classic challenged-by-money placement is our ye olde friend Saturn. Yet remember that your Saturn area gets buffed and buffed via loads of work and angsting till finally it becomes your shiniest area? Saturn in the 2nd house gets clobbered in early youth by seeming to lose money, be ripped off, just feeling always stuggling but by Jove, when this lot get self-reliant, they are a force. Healthy, wealthy & wise indeed.

Venus & Jupiter there – the benefics of trad astro – bless the person with the ability to sort of drum it up from nowhere, walk out the door and get offered the gig they need & even be fairly fortunate in just finding the stuff. Venus/Jupiter in the 2nd trots into garage sales & comes out clutching the actual valuable antique. Or gets a massive crush on some artist at uni who gives her his/her etchings & voila, they’re worth heaps at a later date.

Think also that you can make money via following the attributes of whatever sign/planet is plonked there. And don’t worry if no planet there – it just means it’s not that important to you. Uranus in 2nd; money off the net, via inventions & television. Neptune; film, acting, science fantasy. You could even have the gift of literally dreaming up profitable ideas. Pluto is like mogul-land. People who literally go from having zilch to being officially selfmade millionaires often have Pluto (or Scorp) in the 2nd.

Mercury & the Moon in the 2nd – you’re able to intuit so eerily well what peeps want that you do amazingly well in corporate world/sales & – obviously – writing/self-expression. Retail genius often goes with the Moon in the 2nd. Knowing what peeps want before they know it. Being able to divine trends.

So check out your 2nd house and try to go with it a bit. Oh and another one – Mars/Aries in 2nd house – they will go hard at it and take it as a personal assualt to their ego if you try to come between them and their earning power. They get off on earning & flashing it about a bit. It’s not vulgar – it’s just like someone with another kind of strong Mars doing chin-ups on the door to impress you.

Again, this is why i love astrology, it’s so helpful to get how peeps truly are different. So if one person feels  inclined to hoard & hoard whilst another is like carpe-diem,  it’s not that either of them are wrong! Go for it – check out your 2nd house, the sign on the cusp, anything in there (South NOde is like you’re over material security and feel stuck by it, North Node is like you GOTTA get it and have it to feel spiritually secure) whether or not you’re working it right AND any big transits through it…

Mars Into Taurus!

Mars is now in Taurus & sticks it out their (Tenacity! Stamina! Guts! Endurance! True Grit!) till mid-July!  Mars first makes a brilliant trine to his liege-lord Pluto  & likewise friendly aspects to Saturn & Uranus but he squares off with Jupiter, Neptune & Chiron. In the olden days, rulers would send extra guards to mind their treasure when Mars was in Taurus. It’s a time when peeps are likely to get way more funny about the money & avaricious + stubborn. Venus gets into Taurus soon too so a lot less of the Ariean pioneering vibe. Reality & practical concerns emerge but it’s a more sensual atmosphere. There’s a sexy Mars-Venus conjunction in Taurus on the weekend of June 20/21 so that will be fun. Bear in mind that if you get into any variety of a fight over the next seven/eight weeks – everyone is going to be real stubborn. Even if you ain’t, don’t expect compromise to be a simple score.

Mercury Is (Nearly) Direct

Yes,  it IS frustrating to have Mars zooming along in Aries AND Venus there too & making cute-let’s-talk style aspects to the Auspicious Aqua-Weirding (Jupiter, Neptune, Chiron close in Aquarius) but Mercury is plodding along – BACKWARDS – in take-your-time stately paced ye olde Taurus.

So, sigh as much as you like but people will be soooo slow getting back to you and they’re not in the mood to step forward and tell you where they’re at, how they feel…And you can time this all the way back to April 22 – when Mercury was at the degree it is turning Direct at on May 31st. Info and communiques from then until now are bound to be developed, improved upon or revised. But you can’t speed it up. Take your Mars & Venus in antsy Aries to the gym or give them an impossible mission to succeed at.

Do not ring up & give someone hell for being incommunicado or not speedy enough…Be too busy zinging off your own Aqua-Weirding genius to even notice. Pretend the other person/issue is off-planet & completely out of range. Oh and was it not SO Retro-Merc that a bank in NZ made an error and shoved $10 million into someone’s account because of a misplaced decimal point?

WHAT a weekend…Happy Mars-Pluto square…It’s exact in six hours & ought to quieten down by then. As you know, it was from Mars in Aries to Pluto in Capricorn- both signs & planets that make things manifest and a ’square’ is a challenging aspect. Forced Growth, as they say.

Now, i realise this is way easier to type than do, but any such aspect is meant to be greeted with your most courageous self – not send you snivelling off into some previous or demoded version of yourself. It’s like some sort of fast-tracked psych intensive for things that need ‘ruthless regeneration’ …the classic keyword for Mars-Pluto. And, in case  you missed this, grokking how to better understand/use your personal power. Remember that for over a dozen years, each time Mars squared Pluto it was from Pisces or Virgo…not nearly so bolshie.

Fun! Interestingly, Venus then comes along – also in Aries – to square Pluto next weekend so that will be like a little Venusian version/development of this week’s hoo-hah. Or maybe, for you, all was quiet & tranquil a la the Taurean Moon?  Mine was both; one actually quite funny-in-retrospect heated encounter with The Uranian at the gym. And then Bovinity in the form of some meandering & gossipping.

In short; nearly everyone’s been a bit more bitched up than usual but it’s about to get more mellow & merely pass-agg, as we move into some crunchy Taurus-Aqua squares for a few weeks. AND the news is full of fuqing Swine Flu. I was actually just thinking re the biblical quote about swine that i posted on the 15th looked at the news and thought Oh shit…now it’s a disease. Anyway, try not to get drawn into the low-rent/scattered qi manipulations of peeps who are weak or dark Mars types.

A Venusian Conflict;

Now & through the first few weeks of May there is the final square of Venus to Pluto for this cycle. It’s a complicated astro-scenario but suffice to say that women, animas & relationships  are all fluxing merrily between this:

Personally & this is SO arguable – lol – I’m backing the bottom pic – ie; Venus-Mars in Aries schtick.  SO LONG as you’re onto the Virgo-Capricorn side of reality. ie; details and the core structure of you, your life and biz being viable. Given that, it is better to come out fighting, have a clear stance from a base of strength and spend all night at the dojo than to sit around listening to Qi-draining non-you crap.

Mars & Venus Direct in Aries do not slow down to listen to ponderous drivel. They get it on/off in between following their own heroic life quest. Shit loads of conflict from now through till the auspicious Aquarius Astro-Weirding in late May. It began Weds night- Weds early AM in Los Angeles – can you feel it?

Cherchez Le Grip…Again

The Darkest Darky Dark bit of the Dark Moon CAN feel a bit like this; icy & rocky yet – because Mars is in Aries & there is a lot of brilliant new worldly stuff building – you are able to stand on the edge of a barren cold cliff and evoke primal bliss, power & genius.

So far – so good. But please do not forget the last day of the Dark Moon before it is new is also SO auspicious for uncluttering. Saturn is in Virgo for a while yet. Transcendence IS in the detail, God actually is next to clean & there are infinity number of house-witchery reasons to keep a real clean house.

Soooo…the old news, dead wood (old newspaper is symbolically dead wood, did you know?) and maybe even the chair if it is cracked, unstable or has poor Qi for some reason you can’t specify BUT if gives you the shits. Cherchez Le Grip! Before the New Moon! Again. Yes, it’s a cycle.

A Dark Moon Mini Bunk-Off

Even Capricorns take breaks, it’s true.

But with Sun & Mercury in Taurus, Saturn + Ceres in Virgo + Pluto in Capricorn – there is a ferocious work ethic out there right now & good thing too, as Pluto in Capricorn kicks in…the G.F.C. and all. Mars in Aries also does not want to sit still or shut t.f. up. And note that Mars is moving toward a square with Pluto exact early next week. That’s incendiary but most likely nothing that wasn’t already seeded or established as a potential flashpoint in Dec 08…

My point; Today is the Darkest Day of the Dark Moon before it is New in Taurus. Even amidst all you have to do, take some time for some form of a mini-bunk off. Long sabbaticals are out. Entire weekends are most likely out for the time being. That’ll change when Uranus gets into Taurus…2018. I’m thinking more that you enjoy a whole sandwich & a bit of a sit-down. Some form of power-relaxation.

Venus is just getting back into Aries again. Direct but retracing the retrograde path. So, as it’s a Dark Moon, don’t be amazed if some churlish or less-than-the-Higher-Self style feelings emerge. Don’t act on them. Remember; rests & rejuvenations during the Dark Moon have several times their usual power. If someone goes you chez work, don’t react. Wait it out, look weak now – come back and go them back way harder, when the cosmos is onside. ie; after the New Moon.

The Astrology Of Dr Seuss!

seuss_cat_in_the_hat_fish_stickerToday is the birthday of Dr Seuss a.k.a. Theodor Geisel…ultra-Pisces & surrealist genius.

He was born bang on a bigtime Lunar Eclipse with Mars conjunct Jupiter at Zero degrees Aries (super exuberant and inventive) square Neptune in Cancer (the children’s poet & visionary)…His Mercury in Aquarius conjunct Saturn (!) sextile Uranus and trine Pluto. That Saturn conjunct seems oddly austere for someone so brilliantly playful but consider also his enormous output, professionalism and the longevity of his work, his brand.

My fave Dr Seuss & still sends my teenage son all shivery even now is the one about the pants with nobody in them…I think it’s supposed to be sort of an allegory about how silly most scary stories are…?
