Leo Rising

Johnny Depp is always on some list or another & how hard is it to believe that he is nearly 50?  Really. This pic is a recent one & if that’s a natural pose, him at home or whatever, then he is not exactly doing a strict macrobiotic diet or whatever.

He’s Gemini, the male sign of the Zodiac most often credited with looking years younger than their chronological years would suggest. Yes, he’s a wealthy celebrity and all but still…He’s got Leo Rising & Moon in Capricorn…A cash-canny heart beats behind all the effortless sanguine cool. Also, he’s got Mars-Pluto-Uranus in the 2nd house. A super-astute businessman.

AND – he’s got Moon in Capricorn + he’s with a Capricorn woman. Vanessa Paradis is Zero Degrees Cap and her Scorpio Rising slots in perfectly with his Neptune/Lilith conjunction. Chemistry is always ultra strong when someone’s Ascendent (aka Rising Sign) is conjunct a major planet of yours. You sort of embody it or ‘carry’ it for them.

Gemini men – perpetual boys or not?

If Andy Warhol were still with us, he would  have been about to have his Uranus Return and Mars Retro would have been all OVAH his Sun-Mercury in Leo Rising…I think he’d love this pic and the site from which it springs…CashForYourWarhol

So Pluto in Cap, of course…

And note Andy’s chart – Uranus trine Mercury (genius) and Saturn (enduring, social cut-thru to the max)…

And, if you have not already seen the Uranus Return post from a while back, do go there because the POEM is perfect for this Full Moon Eclipse coming.

And remember – i am not really here & blogging…I could not resist this but I am not back officially till Jan 4. Scopes are all bunging along as usual though…INCLUDING the year ahead Oestro-Medusa & Weekly Scopes up on Weds for subscribers btw…Go ahead and ask for a freebie trial if you like but i am NOT checking e-mails from Weds through till Monday, so soon yah… xx

Here is one for travel-one-upping Sagittarians!  The Galactic Suites will be open for guests in 2012. IF they can keep their funding flowing in. Space hotels are v.expensive, as you can imagine. It will cost about $4 million a week or something to stay there. So, no backpackers. There is some anonymous billionaire space travel enthusiast who has already tipped in $3 billion.

And, okay, I may be wrong about the Sagittarians…I should not astro-cliche them such. But, okay, apart from Richard Branson (Pluto in Leo Rising, Jupiter in Pisces trine his Cancerian Uranus, interesting) I cannot see Cancerians stampeding to stay at a Space Hotel. Or anyone sensitive. I mean, wouldn’t it sort of revoltingly combine agoraphobia AND a bit of claustro? If some mysterious trillionaire shouted you a week at Galactic Suites, would you go? I wouldn’t. But I have Jupiter in Taurus/4th House. Tres earthed.

I reckon Fire Signs would totally go. Leo would send the space shuttle pilots mental by carrying on with his space travel tips. Libra would go if there was a the-Zero-gravity-of-space-has-sensational-complexion-refining-benefits. Gemini? Yes. And then they would attempt to become the first person (?) to have sex in space or something. A Virgo in space is an AMAZING thought. I swear, even in totally sterile, airlocked conditions, the Virgo would find a scuff mark and try to send off a helpful memo about altering the style of space boots used.

Scorpio -it would depend on the variety of Scorp. If it did not trigger any violent aversions,  yes. Capricorn – absolutely, think of the status, the opportunities for advancement and the networking. O.m.g. the NAME dropping. “Yah, well when I was at the Galactic Suites, the other day, Bill and I agreed that there was really nothing like the view of Arkansas from space…”

So I am thinking El Toro, Kataka and Pisces – absolutely not.  Aquarius??? Naturally.  Aqua-Girl is BOUND to be already working her contacts. She is probably hooking herself up with a job there.

sarah_bernhardt

Today is the birthday of  the completely fascinating Sarah Bernhardt

“Why this ongoing attention to a French theatrical star of the distant past? You can ascribe it to Sarah’s rich and notorious private life, always ripe for retelling; to the central role she played in the history of the theater in particular and the culture of the time in general; to the unique way she grew into legend morphing from a tarty little actress into the most famous French person of her century after Napoleon and the most admired Frenchwoman in history after Joan of Arc (whom she played twice she didn’t manage Napoleon, but one of her greatest triumphs was as his doomed son L’Aiglon)

Her undying celebrity would not have surprised her: from her earliest years she was determined to be noticed, to conquer the world, and to do it her own way. When at the age of nine she was dared to jump a ditch and broke her wrist falling into it, she cried out in rage, “Yes, yes, and I’ll try it again if I’m dared to! I’m going to do exactly what I want all my life!” That’s when she decided on “Quand meme” as her motto, and she never relinquished it. She decorated her stationery, her dishes, her silver with it; it was inscribed on the flag she flew over the little fort she bought and summered in on Belle-Isle, off the Brittany coast; it was as much a part of her legend as her scrawniness, her legion of lovers, the coffin she sometimes liked to sleep in. But how to translate it? “Even so”? “No matter what”? “All the same”? “Despite everything”? “Nevertheless”? “Against all odds”? “Whatever”?…”

I always thought she was Libran and indeed, she could be. Just. Would depend on the time of birth.

She was most likely born with her Sun at Zero Scorp, squared by Saturn in Aquarius…And, her Moon was in early Aries, conjunct Uranus and both opposed by Mars…The Mars trining the Saturn. Her birthtime is oft estimated at 8pm – not sure why but it puts her Moon-Uranus on the Midheaven.

And, I love this, given her blissfully intense and creative love life – Venus conjunct Chiron in Virgo…Do read the article, linked in above, it is full of the most fabulous anecdotes…I LOVE the idea of having a motto that you inscribe everywhere.

And surely, she had Leo rising? She looks feline, as Leo Risings so often do.  Note also that the women actually had a lot of aspects traditionally described as “bad” – Sun square Saturn, Moon opposite Mars etc but so many of the most celebrated peeps do have technically “bad” charts. Something to fight against? Miserable childhood worth rising high to get away from? The school of ’surthrival’ as revenge?

“Her admirers? To name a few: Mark Twain (“There are five kinds of actresses: bad actresses, fair actresses, good actresses, great actresses and then there is Sarah Bernhardt”); Freud (“After the first words of her lovely, vibrant voice I felt I had known her for years”); D.H. Lawrence (“She represents the primeval passion of woman, and she is fascinating to an extraordinary degree”). “

Plus there is this fab story about her sojourn in Sydney, Australia…

card-avanti-catyoga

I think Leo Rising is actually more Leo – in the cliched sense of Leo – and likely to be Lower Leo than the actual Sun Sign Leo. I can spot Leo Rising as they always look feline – not so much as limber as they’d like but resembling a plush house-cat, perhaps slightly perturbed lest the sardines do not arrive on schedule.

But really, without a strong artistic cause in their life, they’re so up themselves!

I admit i’m biassed because of the Leo-Rising Aqua Rugger Stud.  But he was a strong example of the genre. He knew nothing about me, though we dated for five months or whatever it was yet i could have gone on television and ACED as in TOTALLY WON a quiz show based on his personality, interests, life, history, ancestor’s history, investments, rugby injuries, planned renovations, tax situation, thoughts on politics, surgeries, children’s marks at school, relatives, real estate and friends. I would SO win.

The 2nd to last conversation we had, he said he found “our” conversations “really fascinating” but they were monologues. And this despite, my best courtesan-like efforts to converse. Okay, running out onto a paddock with an audience, cheerleaders and Eye Of The Tiger playing even though you’ve got a bee sting on your dick and worrying that peeps might mistake anti-bee-string drugs for performance enhancers is a funny story the first three or so times.

But the 45 minute cruciate ligament injury anecdote, the half an hour defence of good guys being schemed against by hos just because they’re naked in hotel corridors innocently losing their keys and two hour rave re paying more tax in one quarter than i make in a year less so.

Is this just me with p.m.b???  I am sure that other Leo Risings have shown similar traits, that even real life SUN SIGN Leos would baulk at. My Saggo friend who dates a LOT says ALL men over 40 are incapable of talking about people other than themselves & that it has nothing to do with astrology but that’s SO gloomy & sexist I can’t believe it.

cear_twoqueens_01_vMeryl Streep – W Magazine

Today is the birthday of the miraculous Meryl Streep whose work I have loved in basically everything she has ever done. Her Sun is Zero degrees of Cancer and exactly conjunct Uranus; an iconoclast & innovator of her generation already. She has 2 degrees of Leo Rising (classic camera-limelight-attention magnet) with Pallas nearby. The latter makes me think right away of Silkwood which i think is SUCH a classic & politically ground-breaking. Pallas-Athene rising fits someone who somehow seeks/signifies justice & has a particularly feminist bent.

What else…? Oh Ms Streep has a Gemini stellium in the 11th house (her bent for accents, lol) – Mars, Mercury and the P.o.F are there. Amazing ability to memorise and tell jokes/quip on the spot too. Her Moon is in Taurus (dignified, grounded) exact  square Pluto…so ability to plumb deep, dark and scary emotions + her North Node is in Aries close to the Midheaven…That is like the gift of being drawn like a homing pigeon to choices that grow your career and public profile. They are both going to be conjoined by Uranus over the next ten years so even more amazing thesping & creativity to come!

Interesting that her South Node in Libra/4th House and she seems to have constructed a super-stable and happy home/family/love life from which she sallies forth to shine for her public. So working the Nodes… all of her chart REAL well…

Chanel Cruise 2010

“If one is a greyhound, why try to look like a pekingese,” enquired the acerbic Virgoan Edith Sitwell – a biography of her was called A Unicorn Among Lions and there are natural echoes of The Ugly Duckling.

But the interesting astro idea is that your Rising and/or Ascendent sign really IS your best look.  If you do not know your Rising/Ascendent sign, you can figure it out via Astrodienst or via an astrologer. Once you have it, read that along with your Sun sign in any scope…See how it feels…

Do you embody your Rising Sign astrologically? It makes fashion/image a LOT easier once you accept it and – for astro-fiends only, look at the house placement of your ruling planet (ruler of the ascendent) for the BASE energy of your Look…I swear it makes AMAZING sense upon pondering. You can also have fun looking to fashion/image choices at 7 year intervals – 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 etc – as these are all strong Saturn-Uranian flashpoints.

And of course if you have any BIG outer planet (Uranus, Pluto, Neptune) sitting on our Ascendent (such transits take at least 18 months) then  will perform a spectacular makeover, ready or NOT.  Ascendent astro WORKS. If you need to buy new clothes, wait until Venus is hovering nearby your Asc. Anyway, I am interested in the query – does your look embody your rising sign?

Aries Rising would need bold, primary colours – especially red. Taurus old world luxe & texture v.important. Gemini – trend fiend. Kataka would SO slink around in vintage. Leo, like a Versace look & blinged  up with golden aura. Virgo; precise, layered and with some thought behind it. Libra; classic bombshell. Scorpio; black leather, Sagg; boho & gear from their travels. Cap; austere, power. Aqua; prob the same thing ALL the time but it works? Pisces; crystally yoga wear & aura enhancing hues…

hamilton1Gay Zorro

I barely knew whom George Hamilton was other than that peeps are often rude about him. He was an official teen hunk, turned tanorexic & serial lover to many a beautiful woman in his day. I read this article re his new autobiography in the Daily Mail & he is SO mega-Leo: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus & Pluto all in Leo. Mars in Capricorn trine – this is really exact  – Uranus in Taurus and Neptune in Virgo. A Grand Earth Trine & all that Leo…

From the SO LEO bio, candid, generous, name droppy & the Alana he is referring to is the ex-wife of serial Capricorn Rod Stewart, mother of Kimberley:

“…In Acapulco I met Alana Collins, so tall, blonde and American-dream stunning that she could have only been a model. I saw her again at the Beverly Hills club I part-owned, shaking her heroic booty on the dance floor…I was smitten and invited her to Europe, where we took a suite in Saint-Tropez. Alana shared my love of the sun and was attached to her reflecting screen the way most Saint-Tropeziens were tied to their gold chains. She was one quarter Cherokee and bronzed like a champion….

“…However, she had a way of drifting in and out of my life, her independence inspiring fits of jealousy no other woman had inflicted on me. Adding insult to injury was her frustration at my failure to say ‘I do’ to her. It had become a case of put up or shut up. I exited and in came Lord Lichfield, the photographer and first cousin of the Queen. Alana was to become Lady Lichfield with her own stately home, Shugborough Hall in Staffordshire….

“…I wanted to settle down, but had chosen the least settled-down woman on the planet. I think that Alana reminded me of my mother: pretty, funny and Southern. I wanted someone soft and feminine-but underneath that goddess was a cowboy as tough as John Wayne…. Suntanning was going to be to me what the phone booth, funny blue suit and cape were to Superman. Without a tan I was just another pale face in the crowd. With one, I could do some pretty amazing things…”

atlasshrugged2

So, sales of Atlas Shrugged are apparently trending upwards. As you know if you’d read the thing – or could glean from the Wiki, it’s an amazingly dense book. It sold stupendously well in its day and created shitloads of controversy. Even now, the Amazon reviews thread of it gets heated and bitchy real fast. Okay, I am not quite sure why the G.F.C. would send peeps stampeding out to buy a book that spruiks uber-capitalism and this is so damned hard to read – it’s not like it’s a handy guide or anything.

I was given Atlas Shrugged by the Gemini Cokehead best friend of my then boyfriend years ago, when i was (sort of) at uni. Gemini Cokehead was a shocker. He was 22 in sales selling radio ad space and would do anything to keep the lease payments up on his Italian sports car. He had a penchant for falling flamboyantly in love (unable to eat, going on long mountain hikes to try and forget her, non-stop analysis of the situation, compulsive throwing of the I-Ching) with other men’s girlfriends or wives but losing interest the moment they came on the market. Anyway, Gemini Cokehead said Atlas Shrugged was like his bible and that i had to read it.

Maybe i was too young but i thought the concepts of Objectivism and letting genius run free unfettered by idiots was all really fascinating but it gets to a really psycho bit – i think – at the end where the heroine is sort of in heaven (?) and this amazing uber-capitalist-genius-stud-Nietzsche guy called John Galt has got her sweeping floors. That totally weirded me out.

Ayn Rand herself has really fascinating astro: She was a refugee from Russia, loved America the moment she spotted the New York skyline and when she was buried, her coffin had a big dollar sign on it. And she was classic Aquarius – contradictory. She was madly right-wing economically but often had views quite at odds with the classic right winger then. eg; she was absolutely pro equal rights for people, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Anyway her astro: Leo Rising and Mars in Scorpio trine Neptune…there is that messianic self-belief and ability to concoct a whole new philosophy with such a wide effect. Uranus is at 2 degrees Capricorn and opposite Neptune. But how fun is that Pluto is trundling over her Uranus in the 5th house and there is a surge in sales? The re-ignition of interest in the book may also fast-track the movie, apparently to star Angelina Jolie and Russell Crowe. Rand also has Moon-Mercury in Capricorn and Sun, Saturn, Ceres and Chiron all together in Aquarius…Great big confident and over the top Aries Midheaven…

ayn_rand_stampYes, she got a stamp!

This is part of the plot synoposis from imdb f.y.i

“…Based upon the controversial 1957 novel by Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged follows the struggles of Dagny Taggart, a railroad heiress trying to maintain her integrity, and keep her family’s railroad alive in the midst of a rapidly decaying world. She faces increasingly corrupt government agencies, the callous incompetence of her own brother, and the systematic loss of her best and most competent workers. As she works to overcome each obstacle, she begins to detect a pattern, and suspect a sinister force working against her. All across the country, there is a growing sense of helplessness, often summed up in a catch phrase that everyone seems to know, but no one knows the origin of – Who is John Galt?….

lady-gaga-just-dance

It’s taken me a while but have just realised that every third song i hear at the gym lately is Lady Gaga and that i quite like some of the songs. Plus the ferocity of her media presence is undeniable.  I like her.

“…Wearing a jacket with giant feathers on the shoulders, wolfing down rigatoni bolognese like the good Italian girl she is, GaGa spoke for more than an hour, and did not utter a single word with less than total conviction. Even if her music doesn’t do it for ya, it’s hard to hate her chutzpah.

‘..I genuinely used to rub people in the wrong way. I’d talk about things and do things that were very ostentatious, and over the top, and very vain. And it’s part of my artistic aesthetic. I think you’re born an artist. It’s like being gay. You’re born gay, and then you discover that’s who you are over a period of time in a world where maybe being gay is not the normal thing. Then you look it in the eye and you say thank you, and you put it in your heart and you lock it up and you go. When you’re 12 years old and making clothes with plastic flowers attached to them, and trying to choreograph shows at your school that are entirely too sexy — you start to be like, Okay, this is my aesthetic. My aesthetic is in so many ways exactly the same as it was when I was younger, I’m just smarter. And I know how to execute the ideas….’ “

From Popwatch

Her astro is interesting:  Sun, Mercury & Jupiter all in Pisces and squaring Mars, Saturn & Uranus together in Sagittarius.  That’s totally apt astro for a driven & original iconoclastic artist who will just not shut up no matter what. Jupiter trines Pluto in Scorp: she gets herself rich & I am guessing she has a Leo rising?  Hence Pisces planets in the 8th and the Sagg stuff in the 5th.
