I have just introduced an awesome new feature for Alpha-Mystic subscribers.  Every day now, the gorgeous Kim Falconer is doing an Astro-Flash on the Daily Scopes page. She’s got a different but complimentary style (more Law of Attraction-ish) to me and always adds in the asteroids + some Midpoints so I think it’s just the most fab addition to the mix and I hope you think so too.

Eg; Her Astro-Flash for today is about Psyche crossing the Aries Point…

E-mail me if you are not an Alpha Mystic subscriber & would like to take a look…

My friend Kim Falconer always reminds me of this little bit of ancient astro-lore.

Whenever you are relating to someone with powerful synastry between you, it’s like you’re having a permanent transit of whatever planet is involved.

Huh?

Synastry is the comparison of two charts. Let’s just say you have a lover and their Saturn is right on your Moon. That means whenever you’re with this character or they are in your life, you may as well be having a Saturn-Moon transit. Which is not particularly a pleasant example. I find Saturn-Moon transits feel like getting into a wet swimsuit. Or cuddling up under a damp blanket.

So, let’s say someone’s Mars is on your Venus. Heaven. That’s like you’re having a non-stop Mars-Venus transit: Libidinal, inspired and hi-qi. Lust for life? Lust for damned well everything.

What’s fun is that you tend to attract peeps into your life who reflect the transit you are having. If you need to brush up on your Saturn management skills, along comes an inspirational haute Capricorn. Should you be mega-Saturnine and perhaps limiting yourself, enter a Plutonian to juice up your life.

eg; When Uranus was all over my Venus in 2008 & 2009, i seemed only able to date Aquarian men. It got to the point where I knew if a man was interested in me,  he’d be like a triple Aquarian AND have his Moon conjunct Uranus.

All this means that unless both people are evolving at the same rate and in similar directions, you do outgrow or vibe away from lovers & partners and that that this is a natural process. Sad when you think of the pair-bonded forever ideal but perhaps perfectly natural?

And btw, that seven year itch thing? It’s a Uranian cycle. Or one quarter of a full Saturn cycle. Very profound. Anytime you want some fun insights into your life patterns, run a seven year analysis. eg; Where were you & what were you feeling/doing seven years ago? Seven years before that???

Astrology is many cycles and all at once but it’s natural to crave a big change every seven years…

I’ve got Jupiter on my Venus in April – just as Uranus is on my Sun, ruler of my House of Love so i look forward to encountering someone v.jovial.

This is my friend Kim Falconer’s latest book, due out TOMORROW!  I cannot wait to read it & this is not just hyper-gush. The most satisfying thing about Kim’s book (which remind me of Ursula Le Guin & Madeleine L’Engle, maybe a bit Tanith Lee or a feminist Wiccan Tolkien) is that the magic in it is all real.

The spells work. The astrology is accurate. The magical thinking instruction is actually inspirational. It all makes complete sense. Because if you know even a bit about the Occult, it’s infuriating to read something like “the Moon was retrograde that night”.  The science is for real.  Even though there is always a tight plot (I am, I admit it, a natural contender for anything blending sex, magic & time travel conundrums) it is also like reading a manual.

You can buy it online here or have a crack at winning Kimmy’s whole Quantum Enchantment series here.

Happy New Moon in Libra and, as you know, it is enhanced/trined by beautiful Neptune…Hence the classic New Moon fresh beginning vibe is super-responsive to visualisation, hypnosis and generally dreaming your way into the future you desire…And behold! Kim Falconer sends me her guest post from Jeanette Maw’s Good Vibe Blog…It’s super-apt…here is a bit but you can click thru to read the whole thing…

“…Many of you have heard me talk about astrology and law of attraction, but for those who haven’t, here ‘s the nut shell: Astrology (the birth time and place) doesn’t determine our character. It’s the other way around. We’re born at a particular time because of who we are. We don’t reflect the moment of birth—it reflects us!  Our astrology cannot limit conscious awareness, however it can offer timely insights and support along the way to our enlightenment.

It is in this spirit I offer these tips under the New Libra Moon!

Tip one: Find your story

To alter your thoughts about love (i.e. improve your love life) you have to know what they are in the first place. The quickest way to find out is to ask. ‘What’s my story?’ (In six words or less please. Any longer and it’s the gremlins talking.) If you think it’s too hard to say it in so few worlds, relax. Your unconscious took care of it for you long ago. (Handy if the words are I have a wonderful love life. Or, Love is bliss. Or, I’m so darn lucky in love.  Not such a bonus if it out to be, Men suck.

No matter what you might be doing to shift your love vibe around, things aren’t going to budge while your story remains unconscious. When unknown, the story is fate—it creates your ‘relationship reality’. If I say, ‘all the good ones are taken,’ sure enough when I look for them, their taken! (This is something I used to say a lot and demon’s fire if it wasn’t true . . . until I changed my tune!)…”

Dark Moonie

002sf112jellybabies

Okay it IS the Dark Moon and Mars is dirging along through the last degrees of Cancer so there is a LOT of stuff coming up…There are always jelly babies & I know quite a few peeps who are resorting Dionysian dilution of their angst…I still think it’s best to let the psychic grot emerge, write it out, do salt baths etc. I texted Kim Falconer a grizzle before and she said the antidote is to list ten things you totally love about your self. your life -they can be awesomely obvious (cherished people) and/or completely shallow. And it’s nearly Mars in Leo!!!!!  I am re-reading my Martian Bats rave, even though i wrote it myself – & you should too!!!!

sappho-1

Charles August Mengin

The other day, I was posting real nice things about Saturn (Saturn Girl) and i only later realised that asteroid Sappho (number 80 if you want to bung her into your chart via Astrodienst) was conjunct Saturn and still is. That so fits!  I still think so many of the asteroids are just named randomly – and there are heaps of them – whereas the naming of the main planets took place over aeons of observation & witching. eg; the planet we call Venus was known as Ishtar by the Ancient Babylonians & they figured out her weird pentagram-shaped orbit way before (obviously) modern telescopes etc.

See Venus – Are You A Morning Star Or An Evening Star Venus? for more on that.

But asteroid relevancy aside, i loved that an asteroid called after one of the greatest ever poets – Sappho – was on Saturn as i tried to reinterpret the entity. I love it when Sappho shows up in charts. She was a genius, a poet and gay, though she had a daughter, Cleis, for whom she wrote a poem…“I have a fair daughter….her form is that of a golden flower…”

Most of her work was burned by rabid Christians & so only bits of it survive. There were Papal edicts instructing peeps to destroy her work – because she was gay? Because she began and managed schools to educate women? Because heaps of her poems were in frank praise of Aphrodite? The Greeks considered her on a par with Homer and she surely influenced Ovid?  Anyway, in a chart,  I think she signifies poetry, wit, sheer feminine genius and the will to eloquently assert your right to do as you sensually please.

My friend Kim Falconer thinks asteroid Sappho shows up as tactile, indulgent, luscious, heady & yet extraordinarily smart – Asteroid 80 is a totally fun asteroid to research AND if your Sappho is on the love interest’s Venus or Moon you SO mess with his/her mind. Just by showing up. If you don’t know much about Sappho, do go to some of these links…I like to think that book burnings do NOT work! Oh and yes, she was born on the isle of Lesbos, some time around 600 BC.

Arrows_med

My lovely friend Kim Falconer’s new book Arrows Of Time is out.  I loved the Spell Of Rosette and this is the 2nd in the series.  It reminds me of my fave classics: Ursula K Le Guin, Madeleine L’Engle, Tanith Lee…What is awesome about Kim’s fiction is that it works as a thriller and as science fantasy but she actually uses PROPER magic in them…So the herblore, martial arts Qi stuff and astrology is all totally accurate. It makes for a more satisfying read. I cannot bear books that pretend to be all about witches or whatever but they mix up mugwort with hemlock or something. I also love the idea of time travelling expert swordswomen witches who are also brilliant at computers & quantum physics.

And so anyway, I have interviewed Kimmy!

MYSTIC: Please can you give a quick precis of this book – the 2nd in a series – for those not familiar with your work?

KIM FALCONER The Quantum Enchantment Series is ’speculative fiction’–a story about real people up against the wall, immersed in nano-technology and witchcraft, sentient and gender biases, fast horses, hot bards, stunning tattoos and environments on the brink of destruction. It has elements of fantasy, science fiction and magical realism, exploring the relationship between magic and technology, thought and energy in parallel worlds. Book one, The Spell of Rosette, begins the journey–a coming of age for a young witch. Arrows of Time, book 2, continues the story. It is set in three worlds experiencing multiple sequences of time.

MYSTIC: Kimmy, I love how you weave actual magic, spellcraft, herblore and – of course – astrology into your fiction. Can you give me an example from Arrows Of Time?

KIM FALCONER:
There are a lot of astrological references in the whole series. One example is when Kreshkali reflects on how An’ Lawrance’s accepts his new apprentices.
Excerpt: ‘Not bad for a man with his moon in the fixed sign of the Scorpion. Change didn’t come easy for such a placement, nor did letting go of grudges, but he’d handled it with near effortlessness, if you didn’t count the grumbles, scowls and derogatory annotations.’
Hara, or Qi energy is a strong element in my novels — it is the source of magical power after all. Because some of the main characters wield Samurai swords, you’ll see them channelling their energy, using the sword as a conduit and then, well, depending on whether it’s training or a real confrontation, heads may roll!

MYSTIC You are a whiz at Horary Astrology- please explain how it works and why you’re so good at it?

KIM FALCONER: Horary astrology was developed at a time when few charts were drawn for individuals, save royalty. Many people didn’t even know their birth day let alone time so if they wanted to consult ‘the stars’ it couldn’t be done through the birth chart. Enter the horary method! It is a chart done for the moment in time ‘you ask the question’. The interpretation is made through a symbol system that derives meaning from planetary motions. The idea of horary–which is deeply explored in Arrows of Time through a conversation between Kreshkali and her apprentice–is not causal (not planets causing events) but synchronicity—meaningful coinciding of planets with events. Why do I have a knack for reading them? It’s really all about practice–I’ve been doing them for a long long time!

MYSTIC: What are your thoughts on the upcoming Saturn-square Pluto in Capricorn aspect – in late November…Do you agree with me that it’s going to be a real “tell” of how Pluto in Cap is likely to manifest over the next few years???

KIM FALCONER: Saturn often coincides with a big dose of ‘reality’ so in that sense yes, it will be telling. On a personal level I think it will be very significant for relationships of all kinds. Saturn is exalted in Libra and whenever he’s found in this sign, he cleans house in the relationship department. For those who have a clear, beautiful, openhearted love life, they will find it deepening–things get richer–better! For those ‘tolerating’ partnerships that are no longer authentic or nurturing, the strength to make creative change–and the impulse to do so–will be at hand.

MYSTIC: I absolutely love the character of the witch genius and fighter Rosette – what is her astro?

KIM FALCONER: Rosette, born in Gaela, has sun in the sign of the Twins (Gemini) a Water-bearer moon (Aquarius) square Uranus and the Lion (Leo) rising . She has one heck of a Neptune transit to her sun in Arrows of Time–it has quite a literal effect!

MYSTIC: Whenever we talk, I always love how your positive philosophy seems to sort of blend Law of Attraction stuff with very practical astrology, goddess worship and quantum physics. Is it poss for you to please precis your philsophy?

KIM FALCONER: My motto is –We are spiritual beings in physical bodies here to experience life. From that perspective, we can drop words like ‘good’ and ‘bad’, ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ and replace them with notions of ‘alignment’, ‘vibration’ and ‘energy’. I also believe that we ‘get what we vibrate’. When I attract something to me that I don’t like, the first thing I ask is, what does this have to do with me? It helps in seeing the world from a different angle! (or angel :)

From The Spell Of Rosette

What do the planets say?

“Good question. I’ve been under Saturn transits all year, of course, so hard work and slow progress is natural right now. But Jupiter approaches my Mars opposition Venus and squares the south lunar node. ”

Say it in a way that makes sense to me?

“I get the feeling of adventure, expansion and something to do with the past or someone from the past. Jupiter is honoured by being open to new possibilities and in return he expands the mind through higher learning, the body through travel and the spirit through deeper meditation and magic.”

paris-coping-with-mercury-retrograde

Ah the joys of Retro-Mercury in Aquarius. This is how it manifested for me today…And these are classic.

* Normally diffident Aquarius cat completely droolingly affectionate & vocal.

* I went to send my friend Kim Falconer a quick e-mail re my Ex-Ramzilla.  It said ” Hi Hun – I sorted everything with X and we had an amazing chat. I still think Y is beneath him but did not say so.  Phew xxxxx”

ONLY I SENT IT TO MY EX BY MISTAKE. Y is his new girlfriend. His ex-Ex. Oh happy days. Thankfully it was not mega-lurid or lengthy.

* I was walking home & encounter my neighbour, locked out and in such a bizarre way that she had to hire a locksmith. The resulting conversation became immediately deep re a stressful living scenario in her life and this normally v.controlled Capricorn utterly vented and said that being locked out of her own house was totally symbolic of how she felt etc etc etc.  There seem to so often be issues with locks during Mercury Retrograde. I must get my imaginary astrological intern to ask a few locksmiths to monitor this, in much the same way that police and emergency room peeps put extra staff on during Full Moons.

Oh and then tomorrow i get to go on a date with the New Uranian during retro-Mercury in HIS sign.
