As mentioned in the Scopes & Daily Mystic, certain types of control-freaky people are bound to irk this week. It’s to do with good old fixed squares from Venus in Taurus to the stuff in Aquarius.

And then Mars tromps along next week and does the same thing. All during Eclipse Season and as Uranus stations Retro. It is the latter that’s the most likely to inspire a potentially bats-but-not-in-a-good-way impulse.

So should  you suddenly think YES & be on the blower to Acme a la Wile E Coyote, think again please. Wait out the Eclipse Season. That’s till July 22. Or at least till Mars skips into Gemini on July 12.

Basil is magic – in pesto, obviously & with tomatoes et al but actually real practical magic. The name itself apparently comes from an old Greek word for King but some say it actually comes ‘basilisk‘ – the mythical serpent. The medieval herbalist Culpepper had it as being ‘of Mars & under the Scorpion’ – ie; super-yang.

Modern scientists are researching it as being full of antioxidants. Ye Olde Folk names: Witches herb, Royal herb.

The main magical correspondence is that a pot of basil or basil growing in your garden helps to bring prosperity & that the fresh leaf crushed against your wrist so it leaves a scent is wildly aphrodisiac. Cheap too. Sex & Money – about $5 for a big pot at the local hardware shop…Unreal!

STANLEY: What sign?
BLANCHE: Astrological sign. I bet you were born under Aries. Aries people are forceful and dynamic. They dote on noise! They love to bang things around!

bofr-walnutWalnut Essence: For Freedom from limiting influences, making healthy transitions in life, courage to follow ones own path and destiny.

I love this stuff so much. They call it the tie-breaker.  I don’t know HOW flower essences work, I truly have no idea even though it has been explained to me several times. They are in the same family as homeopathy and cell salts. Basically magic. And it’s odd but even though there are Australian flower essences and Californian, just shitloads of different ones these days – i still think the original flower essences created by Dr Bach (rescue remedy is the best known, it is a blend of several) are the best.

Walnut essence is fantastic for Pluto transits in particular. I nearly typed transhit then, lol.  It seems to alter your psyche so that change becomes more desirable, rather than a thing to fear.  More:

“…The planetary correspondence for the walnut tree is the sun, which makes its element fire. Wands from the tree have this fiery, masculine energy, believed to have magical associations with fertility and high energy.

The tree was also sacred to Astarte, the Semitic goddess of war, sexuality and fertility. The Greeks later came to associate her with Aphrodite who is most commonly known as a goddess of love and beauty.

It once was called the tree of evil since witches in Italy are said to have danced under walnut trees during their rituals. Modern Pagans and witches may not carry on this specific tradition, but its use in magic is still prevalent. Specifically, carrying the nut in the shell is believed to promote fertility of mind and body.

The walnut tree is also helpful in making a transition from one state of affairs to another including major changes in life circumstances. It has the ability to break the link of past unwanted associations. Meditation on the energy of the walnut tree helps to bring clarity and strength to make the needed change….”

“… I never had any fixed aim before my eyes, and that my system, if it can be called a system, has been to glide away unconcernedly on the stream of life, trusting to the wind wherever it led.…”

Giacomo Casanova

Casanova is, from his  chart,  more of a Uranian: Uranus rising in Scorpio, Moon conjunct Lilith in Sagittarius – a lot of his socio-sexual romantic success would have been surely due to how genuinely comfortable he felt with transgressive and independent women.

He has Midheaven in Leo square Uranus in Scorpio rising conjunct the South Node…so avant garde for the time but his fame lingers – there is a longevity afforded with that Leo Midheaven.

And he’s actually massively Piscean: Fortuna, Jupiter, Mars, Vesta, Venus and Mercury all in Pisces and in the 5th house. Plus Mercury opposite Pluto. So of course he had to write about it. Oh how he would have loved the internet, poor thing.

And Moon in Saggo square Jupiter/Mars in Pisces – the perpetual divine dissatisfaction?  And what was up with Casanova’s mother?

Casanova was an artist and philosopher, the seductions were just a side-effect & most likely more to do with the times than him.

hospital_corners-4How To Make A Bed

(1) Always make your bed properly, first thing in the morning. This sets the tone for the entire day and it will be a pleasure to retire to, the end of your long day of productive slog and efficiency.  Fitted sheets are for slackers and do not look nice when folded. Learn to do hospital corners.

(2) Scrub fingernails with nailbrush each time you visit the lavatory. Why waste money on manicures when cleanliness and an occasional file is all that is required?

(3) Everything bad you have heard about not flossing is for real. Dental hygiene costs less in time and money than dental intervention down the track.

(4) Thoroughly clean your face before you go to bed and your complexion will reward you.

(5) Work out how much cash you require that week, get it out in one go and stay within those limits. You feel cashed up, you save on fees.

(6) Dirt and clutter make you feel poor & grimy.  Make cleaning part of your wind-down routine.
