And so this thematically appropriate given the Eclipse in a few days…BUT what a trippy music clip. What is going  on here?  I am getting that Bonnie Tyler (she looks like such an 80s Gemini in this) is the headmaster’s wife of some boarding school & that at night or in her dreams, whatever, the boys dance around in ninja and/or angel costumes.  But what is it with the glowing alien eyes?? Your analysis Please…

Pre-Eclipse nerves have hit a lot of peeps i know. The Scorpio Sex Academic, my Psychic Gemini Hairdresser  & I  have been taking Lavandula compound .  It’s awesome for Dark Moon Blues.

Zero Degrees of Cancer is the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere & the Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. The former is Litha and the latter Yule. The shortest and the longest nights of the year respectively.

Los Angeles: Saturday 20th Summer Solstice at 22.46

New York: Sunday 21st Summer Solstice at 1.46 am

London: Sunday 21st Summer Solstice at 6.46 am

Sydney: Sunday 21st Winter Solstice at 15.46

They are great Pagan turning-points & the time when the veils between the worlds thin so that your perceptions are amped right up. Ghosts too, obviously.  But this post is actually about the Book of the Shadows – an old name given to the book that YOU write, entirely for yourself about any occult interests you may have.

Basically it is a journal in which you record dreams, your thoughts re dreams, psychic flashes, the results of Tarot card readings & then later – a follow up analysis, astrological ideas and predictions, Feng Shui notes, mensturation dates if you like, your moods, essential oil & herbal potion recipes…all things magic. It is a fantastic aid in learning astrology as you can note down events & emotions around certain astrological events (such as your Venus Return or this weekend’s Mars-Venus conjunction) and compare it with what you predicted would occur.

It’s a good idea, i.m.o. to get a beautiful & ornate book – unless you are worried it will be read by another, in which case disguise/hide it. It’s most fascinating to read through a few months later & realise just how stunningly accurate dreams et al can be, even though the message may seem too esoteric or just irrelevant at the time. By realising and better understanding how the cosmos/your subliminal mind talks to you, you develop a beautiful style of magical thinking.

Personally, i destroy my old ones, once i have grokked the info within but other peeps keep theirs & make them more like recipe/spell/wisdom books…perhaps to pass on later.

BTW: the Pentagram/Pentacle is just an ancient symbol of Venus/Aphrodite/Ishtar/Oshun

Mercury is direct, the Moon is in Virgo & Mars has just nipped into Taurus. This is super-productive – enjoy!

For the edification of all of us please post your Timeless Virgoan Lifestyle Tips; they must be one sentence long & more or less practical/detailed. But they can be about anything.

eg;

Mugwort is amazingly brilliant.  I know i say that about every herb i am in the mood to enthuse about but really…It is magic & protective to the nth degree. The Latin name for this herb is Artemisia Vulgaris – herb of Artemis, the Moon Goddess. Even a teensy bit of the fresh or dried mugwort in between the pillow case & the pillow will induce the most intense dreams – I try it occasionally, when I am feeling daring enough. AND i am trying to grow it.

Some say it was the herb used in flying ointment, to make the brooms witches flew on. It’s sooo powerful that you’d only want to touch it in a blend made by a qualified herbalist.

Mugwort is revered in Chinese Medicine, where they all it Ai-Ye & it’s used in moxibustion, done by acupuncturists for all sort of things but most commonly to move breech babies though i had it this morning to raise Qi. The word “moxy” comes from “moxa” which is the medicinal application of Mugwort to the Chinese meridians et al.

Mostly what i use it for is as a smudge stick – most smudge sticks are sage & mugwort IS actually a variety of sage. So when you want to cleanse the atmosphere of your space & it need something super-heavy-duty, beyond normal white sage smudging, you reach for the Mugwort. I haven’t done a posting on smudging  yet; short version – clean your house, throw shit out & then light the smudge stick & waft it about, as if cleansing the air. It is instantly effective.

You can get smudge sticks from any good new agie shops,  the peeps i linked to above or google them…

inflorescence-ylang-ylang

Birds love Ylang-Ylang & so do I. Depending upon whom you ask, the name means Flower Of Flowers, Rare or Wilderness. In trad herb lore, it is a flower of Venus & the essential oil is officially recognised for langour & euphoria inducing qualities, along with the ability to help cure various ailments from motion sickness to high blood pressure. Margaret Mead noted that the South Pacific island dwellers used it liberally as an aphrodisiac, sprinkling it on beds & what-not.

Personally, i love the reek of it so much that i bung it everywhere; into big bottles of sweet almond oil to make body oil, into the sheets wash, floor wash, in an atomiser bottle to spray around as room freshener…Would cook with it if i could. The Wiki for it has this fabulous line re the scent; “The fragrance of ylang-ylang is rich and deep with notes of rubber and custard, and bright with hints of jasmine and neroli.”

And, a la the G.F.C. situation AND increasing concerns re toxic ingredients in perfumes,  why not create your own concoctions with actual ingredients proven to enhance mood et al?  Anyway, if you don’t have any in the house, try to snort some essential oil of Ylang-Ylang before the Full Moon & see if you do not notice the effect.
