Cancerians

Astro-Cliche or not, Crab-Peeps are the WORST clutterers and hoarders. They cling tenaciously to even the most naff bit of memorabilia, clearly inappropriate clothing from centuries ago and non-needed administrivia. And I ADORE Cancerians but this trait irks my Mars in Virgo. So now it seems that Lindsay Lohan is to get her apparently hideously cluttered home uncluttered on American television.

Despite all the allegations, craziness, non-knickers-wearing, dionysian revels, flake stuff, I still love LL. Okay, mostly because of Mean Girls, which was a long time ago. But wouldn’t it be unreal if the big clean-out helped to fix her life up? That image above, btw, is of her bedroom.  Lindsay has a hardcore Mars in Capricorn with Pluto gliding up to conjoin it in a few years time. There ain’t nothing like a Pluto-Mars transit for streamlining your life and getting thy merde together.

Which Sign would wear these Nicholas Kirkwood Alice in Wonderland shoes?  I am thinking only a Cancerian.  On catnip.

And, whilst we are here, do any of you own an actual shoe-maintenance box? With polishing gunk and brushes etc?  If yes, would you be Virgo? Or just ex-military?

Mia is a 23 year old pop-surrealist based in L.A.  I love her work so was not at all surprised to find she’s being avidly collected and is considered majorly cool.

MYSTIC:  Your work resonated with me instantly as it has all these astonishing themes that I love, such as astrology, alchemy, myth, surrealism and so on – yet it is also so beautiful and evocative to look at. How did you hit upon such a unique style?

MIA:  It’s a mystery even to me! I’ve recently gotten into tarot and in turn astrology, alchemy, and hermeticism, so I’ve come to learn a bit about myself as someone who tends to mythologize everything and wants to infuse everything with magic. I have an intense love for all of these things and for history, oftentimes feeling that I belong in a different era. I’m also surprised about how aquatic all of my work tends to be, whether there are water themes in it or not.

MYSTIC:  You are a quadruple Cancerian and Cancer (I prefer to call it Kataka which is the Ancient Sanskrit name for the sign, it means Scarab) is the sign most linked with artists. An unusual number of renowned artists are born under your sign. You have Sun, Moon, the Vertex and Psyche in this sign. Did you feel you were an artist from a v.early age?

MIA: I’ve been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon, and as soon as I learned to read and write, I became interested in writing. So my answer to the ‘what do you want to be when you grow up’ question was always ‘an artist.’ I still want to be one when I grow up. ;)

MYSTIC: Saturn is just finishing up a tour of duty in your career sector – it began back in late Sept 2007- would  you say the time between then and now has coincided with a phase of intense hard work but recognition and growth as well?

MIA: Yes, absolutely. Sept. 2007 is around the time that I began working on my first 2 featured shows that led to wider opportunities, and in turn my current bout of relative success and recognition.

MYSTIC: You have Sappho and Neptune in your $$$ sector, so apt for someone who makes her living via art but Mars is there too, in Capricorn. So that is like a fierce businesswoman vibe – would you agree? Also, Sappho is writing and Neptune is art, so clearly you are also a gifted writer…They say she is the Tenth Muse…

MIA:  I’m really big on self-promotion and getting my work out there. I’m also deeply interested in learning as much as I can about business, probably because I’m so bad at it. I’m equally interested in writing and art. Even though I don’t write professionally, I tend to fill more journals than sketchbooks, so it balances out in importance. I hope to someday make a living off of both, preferably together (as in children’s books, or illustrated fantastical stories for older audiences).

MYSTIC:  How do you prefer to work? Is it spontaneous, sort of channeled or do you plan your artworks carefully? And do you do much research into the symbols that you use? Do you paint in great big binges or short bursts?

MIA: I need to do a detailed drawing before I paint, but the drawing is created purely spontaneously, aided with photo reference. I paint in long stretches, and I surface-research my symbols, because of time constraints, so most of my symbols make their way into a piece via spontaneity.

MYSTIC:  You’ve got Jupiter in the home sector, lucky in real estate and domestic matters…How do you live? What is your domestic style?

MIA: I live with my parents and sister– I’m extremely lucky to have a loving family that is willing to support me financially, because I’m a bit of a hermit, and prefer to stay at home rather than go out. My studio is also at home and I love it.

MYSTIC: Your works seem supernaturally sagacious for someone so young – 23-and it is clearly selling heaps so you’re commercially successful too… I was quite surprised when you told me your birthdate…are you conscious of that at all?

MIA: I’m not usually conscious of that, even though you’re not the first person to tell me…probably because I’m my worst critic and am very self-demanding. I feel that I know so little in comparison to all that’s out there, and that I’ve got a lot to learn. But I guess that’s what most people feel like when they’re at the start of a career. :)

Here is one for travel-one-upping Sagittarians!  The Galactic Suites will be open for guests in 2012. IF they can keep their funding flowing in. Space hotels are v.expensive, as you can imagine. It will cost about $4 million a week or something to stay there. So, no backpackers. There is some anonymous billionaire space travel enthusiast who has already tipped in $3 billion.

And, okay, I may be wrong about the Sagittarians…I should not astro-cliche them such. But, okay, apart from Richard Branson (Pluto in Leo Rising, Jupiter in Pisces trine his Cancerian Uranus, interesting) I cannot see Cancerians stampeding to stay at a Space Hotel. Or anyone sensitive. I mean, wouldn’t it sort of revoltingly combine agoraphobia AND a bit of claustro? If some mysterious trillionaire shouted you a week at Galactic Suites, would you go? I wouldn’t. But I have Jupiter in Taurus/4th House. Tres earthed.

I reckon Fire Signs would totally go. Leo would send the space shuttle pilots mental by carrying on with his space travel tips. Libra would go if there was a the-Zero-gravity-of-space-has-sensational-complexion-refining-benefits. Gemini? Yes. And then they would attempt to become the first person (?) to have sex in space or something. A Virgo in space is an AMAZING thought. I swear, even in totally sterile, airlocked conditions, the Virgo would find a scuff mark and try to send off a helpful memo about altering the style of space boots used.

Scorpio -it would depend on the variety of Scorp. If it did not trigger any violent aversions,  yes. Capricorn – absolutely, think of the status, the opportunities for advancement and the networking. O.m.g. the NAME dropping. “Yah, well when I was at the Galactic Suites, the other day, Bill and I agreed that there was really nothing like the view of Arkansas from space…”

So I am thinking El Toro, Kataka and Pisces – absolutely not.  Aquarius??? Naturally.  Aqua-Girl is BOUND to be already working her contacts. She is probably hooking herself up with a job there.

Well my reaction was HOW FANTASTIC & pity about the P.O.A bit (P.O.A = Price On Application) but yes, so genius to have several different tentacles and you can twist them around to suit + it looks cool.

But my Cancerian son freaked: he said he would be totally unable to shower without imagining the tentacles wrapping around his neck, scary movies he has seen involving paranormal tentacle activity, horrible sleazy eels eating baby ducklings and the time he stepped on a snail inside his gumboot when he as three.

So, okay, I am thinking Crab Peeps should not be allowed NEAR this thing, P.O.A. or not. IN fact, they prefer baths, i.m.o. Sooo who would like the Tentacle Shower???

img-setYes, I  admit it. I am often caught depicting Cancerians as old-lace fetishists, fingering their antique cameo brooch as they stalk vintage clothing stores or sites, forever enmeshed in a web of ye olde world fashion yearnings, nostalgia encapsulated. When I did an Astro-Nite in Melbourne a few years ago and got everyone to sit in the groups of their Sun Signs, the Crab Folk WERE all wearing an item that was not only vintage but had actual sentimental value to do with one of their ancestors. Seen as such in a group, their general look was more Edwardian/Victorian than any of the other groups. Okay, the Arieans also stood out as they were all in Red & the Librans for their well-kempt complexions. Still, shall we settle this???  Do Crab People have way more of an appreciation for the retro, the ancient, the nostalgic, the vintage end of fashion????  If you are or you know a Cancerian who gets around in cobwebby ye olde lace & antique jewellery, please tell…

Perhaps unfairly, I am assuming that Cancerians, Librans & Pisceans will be best able to recall their first scent & how they wore it…From a Mercury in Virgo point of view (Mercury has just one into Virgo – carp at your leisure) it would be interesting to note if particular Sun signs have an affinity with different families of scent?  And if peeps essentially stick to the same family of scent the whole way through. eg;  you start with Orientals and more or less stay there, merely maturing your tastes as you go along…Is there any one person who’s always stuck with the same scent??? And if so, what is your sign?

A Leo Uncle who specialised in inappropriate but fabulous gifts gave me a massive bottle of Ma Griffe when i was about 13 & despite being told to “save it for special occasions” I became renowned for reeking of it at school.  It was, of course, WAY too old for me.

The brill book Perfumes – The Guide (Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez) says it is a “classic green chypre, less herbacious than Givenchy III, less dry than Y, more floral than most, and with a Miss Moneypenny spinsterish loveliness that works perfectly if you are nothing of the sort.” Lol!

It’s funny but people go ON and ON about the Leonic Madonna’s determination to look ever-young & stay, you know, relevant. But what about the way-older Leo Mick Jagger??? He’s been a fitness-fiend, vitamin vampire puller of young things for yonks longer than Madonna. Does anyone really bitch it up re him??  Seriously, is it sexism? Leos can’t help it. It’s who they are. Jagger has the Sun, Jupiter, Pluto, Lilith, Mercury, North Node and Part of Fortune all together in Leo – he’s a mega-multiple conjunct Leo. I reckon he would have suffered dreadful Hair Jealousy of Jerry Hall.

Also re Leos – i think there are two broad types; one is the Bon Vivant Leo, who cares not so much for vanity or the appearance of youth but likes to Live-it-up indefinitely. So they may get fat but it will be gourmet fat. And plumpness from fine restaurant pig-outs IS actually diff from fast-food binge fat. I think maybe as the complexion stays reasonable? Then there is Vanity-Leo who will do any diet, any exercise ritual – what-ever it takes – to stay at what he/she considers their peak. The word “decline” is simply not a valid concept to them.

Oh I was not onto this before but SpongeBob’s birthday was on Tuesday. He was officially born, according to his founder, on July 14 1986. I don’t really know much about him – but he is a home-loving Cancerian, obviously, even if his home is a giant pineapple under the sea.

He has Moon in Virgo, Mercury Retro in Leo (is he a grandiose malapropping kinda guy?  Mis-use words pompously? Truly, does he have any Retro-Mercury in Leo indicators?) Venus in Virgo square Saturn in Sagg so he could be stingy  in love & sexually begrudging due to hell knows WHAT psychological factors and Mars Retrograde opposing his Cancerian Sun – there may be a bit of repressed rage boiling away due to – i don’t know – earning the living that satisfies his Cancerian security needs by cavorting about showing off a fairly limited aspect of himself, his vile boss & limited starfish friend.

You know…his North Node is in Aries & he’s got that retro-Mars – he ideally needs to assert himself in a more clear, direct and strategic manner.

What, in chez You, is the item or room that most reflects your Sun or Moon Sign???  Mine is totally my bedside table although the bathroom cabinet (alphabetically arranged essential oils) comes next. And you? Smarty-pants peeps can cite the sign on the cusp of their 4th House, if they like.

I always think the Sagg cliche is a bike, packed bag with passport, surfboard and/or set of skis in the hallway. Taurus sink $$$ into a couch they can sink into to think. Geminis love gadgets & Leos need a big plasma to watch wanky movies + maybe a throne…

Virgo would technically be into wheatgrass but also hide a secret cache of luxury chocolate…

Crab Peeps? Nostalgia & antiques for sure…
