Haute Aqua

Today is the birthday of Rosa Parks, the American Civil Rights legend, whose refusal to give up her seat for a white person was a catalyst for the human rights  movement. They had what basically amounted to bus-apartheid back in the 1950s & this Aquarius wasn’t putting up with it. That led to a boycotting of the bus system and so on…Voila, today America has President Obama. Amongst other “coloured” luminaries…

She’s actually a multiple conjunct Aquarius: Sun-Mercury-Moon-Uranus.  Try shutting that one up. The embodiment of the pragmatically visionary and ahead of their time haute Aquarius and a spooky-cute fact: Her Sun is bang-on the Aquarius Ascendent of President Obama.

Well I think it’s kinda cool that Cindy McCain, an iconic right wing figure whose husband is officially anti-gay-marriage, can come out so blatantly in support of NOH8 - a group promoting the rights of gay people to be married if they want to.  There are heaps of Republican women who’d look to her as their WASPy role model & think that if Cindy says something is okay, than maybe it just is?

Apart from being Mrs McCain, she’s a Taurean Heiress & amateur pilot…her Taurus Sun is currently being squared by Neptune and Chiron but it’s the Neptune mind-bender that’ll go on the longest. It is ongoing for two years from now and it hasn’t even kicked in properly yet. Neptune-Sun can dissolve long-held rigidity & definitely be an awakening of compassion, new values and psychic powers.

I reckon she’s going to really go with this in a fantastic way. Neptune-Sun can mean you lose yourself but she also has Pluto coming up on her Capricorn Mars: Guess who’s empowering herself and experiencing a primal, almost libidinal urge to regenerate and use her powers? It’s a bit of a strain on the key relationship in her life, obviously. Her husband is  20 years older than her & may not like the idea of a political wife going off-agenda and in full media view. This is clearly a defiant gesture. Oh and he’s a Virgo.

Oh well, if anything happened to the marriage as a result of this, she’s clearly v.eligible. She’s looking good and her $300 million + personal fortune is from a beer company.  Whilst I am on my political bingle – there is another American Republican – Aquarius, female and who ran with Cindy’s hubby in the last election that Obama won and SHE is vehemently against gay marriage. I reckon Palin would be going ape at this…

As  you know, i very rarely into politics and certainly  not into Australian politics as it would surely bore the pants off those viewers from elsewhere. But today, I cannot resist and I thought some of you might like a forum to rave on about this morning’s political events. Please be nice and explain to peeps from elsewhere who jump in what is going on…

Bimbonic thoughts re this:  Malcolm Turnbull and Tony Abbott are both Scorpios. So Malcolm got Scorped by a fellow Scorp.  Kevin Rudd – the Virgo Prime Minister – is now in for a massive bingle with Abbot the Scorpio. Rudd has Moon in Aries. Abbott has his in Leo. Weirdly enough, they are very compatible. Kevin’s Venus is RIGHT on Tony Abbott’s Mars. If they were both gay, they would be ON. They’re born but a few months apart and actually v.similar in many ways. They both remind me a bit of mad monks but I am not sure why.

Without sifting through the birthdates of celebrity veggos & vegans (another job for my imaginary astrological intern) – coming up with astrological vegetarian/vegan indicators is guesswork. Anecdotally I know a lot of Pisceans who are veggo & a strong Neptune (ruler of Pisces, compassion, empathy) can also predispose one. There are Scorps who wear fur and relish red meat a la Anna Wintour and there are Scorps such as Joaquin Phoenix, who are strict vegans & do stunning docos like Earthlings about it.

You could also argue that it is Uranus/Uranian if the choice is less compassionate & more New-Agie logic re resources et al. And indeed, Aquarian veggos also seem to disproportionately high. I’m thinking Neptune in Pisces (2011!) will see a big spike in the veggo ranks…i note that nearly all the females in my teenage son’s set are vegetarian – the Pluto in Scorpio generation girls, not sure where that’s coming from exactly. And, whilst i am in this sort of mood, Neptune is also said to rule oil (though to me Oil feels Plutonic – from under the earth, wars fought over it et al) and this article by Michael Moore on Planet Waves re the bankruptcy of GM is fascinating & thought provoking.

The seven planets with their associated symbols, within the four winds. 15th century astrological woodcut.

“Astrological forecasts fortified conspirators, heightened their courage and so made them more likely to succeed in their plots. Thus laws making it a statutory felony to calculate the life expectancy of a ruling monarch had to be enforced. Astrologer John Gadbury confessed that he was ask to cast Charles II’s horoscope as part of a plot to murder the king, but denied any wrong doing…

“Authorities were not fully convinced of his innocence. His report that the comet of 1521 presaged Henry VIII’s condemnation of the papacy and his prophecy of an “eternal settlement in England of the Romanists” helped to fuel allegations of his role in Catholic conspiracies and won him two trips to prison. Astrological politicing from the bottom up could be dangerous….

“There also was astrological politicing from the top down. In addition to trying to keep the prognosticative activities of dissident groups in check, the ruling powers were interested in astrology and cometary portents as tools they could themselves use for good government. Niccolo Machiavelli (1469 to 1527) observed “Whence it comes, I know not, but both ancient and modern instances prove that no great events ever occur in any city or country that have not been predicted by soothsayers, revelations or by portents and other celestial signs.”

G.F.C. for Global Financial Crisis sounds vaguely unwholesome. Too much like K.F.C. Has anyone got a more evocative term?

Anyway, Alan Greenspan backing bank nationalisation in the USA feels super-revolutionary. Forced growth indeed. Am not trying to turn this into an economic-political blog at ALL but this is radical & Pluto is only, i don’t know, TWO degrees of Cap right now.

My son was telling me last June that he’d met some financial planner some place who said there would never be a recession for all these reasons. And I said, with all my astro-authority that come December (Pluto into Capricorn) there would be the beginning of a recession/depression/financial shite unlike any we had ever seen before. And he was like “Woah, you sound like some scary soothsayer dude…” But, yah.

And then the other day he asked when it would get better – the G.F.C. – astrologically. And the first thing that came into my mind was that the actual trending  upward again, post-reformation et al would most likely be when Uranus went into Taurus  & began to trine Pluto…”So,” said my son, brightening, “is that soon?”  He trusts Taurus energy, has it rising and thinks every Taurus he knows “really has their fuqing shit together.”

“2018,” I said. “BUT,” I had to add this whilst running after him. “But Neptune in Pisces sextiles from January 2012 and that could be really good.” He looked really doubtful. “It’s still a long way away….And isn’t Neptune drugs and artists?”  He listens! Finally i said that i think it will improve when Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) goes Direct in May. He rolled his eyes. “Is there anything next week?”

From my Mercury-in-Ariean skimmings of mags/news, if there were one person to pin the current fiscal shitfeast on, it would be Bernie Madoff, banker to the extremely wealthy.  If you are not familiar with his story, this article here quicky explains how a former lifeguard who started on Wall St in 1960 with $5000 wound up pulling off the ‘largest investor fraud in history.’ Yet he helped to invent the technology that later became NASDAQ, he concocted all sorts of pioneering stockbrokering whizzery. If you read his Wiki or the article above, the consequences & blow-back of this are just staggering.

So I’m reading all this guff, going W.T.F. is this guy’s chart like. It’s like he is Darth Vader. I mean, he starts out good & innovative, some kind of genius with lucre, he’s a dad, loving husband & major force for philanthropy and then – voomp – a criminal under house arrest apparently, which is probably a good thing for him given the sorts of people he’s pissed off. In one thing i read, it said a whole Arab state is down $400 million. Another mentioned Russian oligarchs. Then there is Kevin Bacon. Yes, also affected.

Okay, so his birthdate is April 29 1938. No time. He is one of the last of the Pluto in Cancer generation, who were a stoic lot, born after the dreadful holocaust of W.W.I and into a depression et al.

He’s a Taurus with Uranus conjunct his Sun. So, a Uranian with the energy straining to express itself via the Fixed Earth sign of Taurus. Venus sextiles Pluto. Most seriously wealthy peeps have some sort of strong Jupiter-Pluto signature. He has them quincunx. Jupiter in Aquarius also squares Venus in Taurus and his Nodes. That’s a bit of avarice but he took it way O.T.T.

Neptune in Virgo makes NO bigtime aspects that i can see from a chart sans birthtime – with the birthtime, he’s gotta have some Neptune action going on. He got discovered as SATURN went over his Neptune in Virgo – i’m thinking it’s his midheaven & he’s Sagg rising. His Mars is in tricky old Gemini…Oh and he was born under Retrograde Mercury…

Okay, so the French Justice Minister gave birth to a daughter last week & this article in the Daily Mail is at first about how she has returned to work, glamorous & happy. But she – a Saggo – is quite fascinating. She won’t say who the father is & so speculation in France is naturally rife.

“A host of magazine covers have celebrated her against-the-odds success story as the second of 12 children born to a Moroccan labourer and illiterate Algerian mother, hailing her as the new face of France.” She is France’s first female Muslim minister. “Miss Dati herself has said: ‘I left school at 16, my family was not privileged and I struggled for many years. My life is not a beautiful story.’ …Dati, who had an arranged marriage annulled in her youth, said it was ‘fundamental’ for her to have a child.”  More here.

Her astro is interesting: She has the Moon, Mars, Venus and Midheaven all close together in Capricorn so tremendous drive to draw upon and she is in the middle of a Saturn transit. Saturn is crossing her Fifth house (children, creative self-expression) Uranus & Pluto. And Uranus is on her natal Chiron & Ceres in Pisces. So the Saturn-Uranus opposition is playing out quite powerfully. Taurus Rising means she can radiate placidity, dignity & strength through all this.
