Yes, Saturn is squaring Pluto and it is SO unspeakably existential as referred to below but – as with any Dark Moon – some respite is to be found in primordial sifting, sorting and decluttering. Plus, because this is in Libra, think a la swooping on your beauty cabinet.

The bathroom is symbolically the domain of our Lady Venus – is yours a haven of beauty, harmony & order? Do you have a coherent skincare regime? It need not be something ludicrously o.t.t. Even just fresh new face-washers folded & awaiting your diligence can feel divine. That + you editing and discarding.

Venus – ruler of the Dark Moon – is of course in Scorpio and moving to square Mars + everything in Aquarius & probably some stray crazy asteroids just for good effect. So if a savage purge of potentially bacteria-infested mascaras, serums that on second-thought are stupid and the lipstick museum (clutter with purchase anyone?) don’t do it for you – get into some Scorped up Venusian culling of the evidence of ANY ex.

Okay, it’s tricky when you have darling children with them but I am not talking about that. You can do the old writing-them-a-letter ritual & then you burn it. Note – i said burn, not send. You can cease hanging on to memorabilia or a symbol of hope that he/she/it may one day re-detour back into your lovely orbit. You can fix the Feng Shui, do a spell or see a Shaman to get the ‘cords’ cut. Mugwort smudged is a fantastic Dark Moonie thing to do.

Just remember: Libra is the sign of Balance & Beauty, Relationships and Tranquil Diplomacy. If you are to embody the latter, at least, use the power of the Dark Moon + Venus in Scorpio…And as it is the Dark of the Moon right before a Phoenix Moon in Scorpio – you may want to look at this Hecate post again.

Note: It is not a fantastic time for a first date nor to buy beauty products/have procedures done that are hard to change back. And that is my understatement du jour.

Is there a Sun, Moon or Venus sign signature that totally always goes for Matte and one that goes for Gloss???

I am so lip gloss attached that i cannot imagine ever using a lipstick again, no matter how awesome the ad-spiel or Freudian the packaging…It doesn’t seem nourishing enough…Just so retro and non-me.

But I think Earth Signs prefer the solidity of an actual lipstick & that a proper lipstick tube seems somehow more statussy and adequate…non? And Fire Signs might even find them less fiddly…

So, i’m calling it: Air & Water like Gloss. Fire & Earth prefer Matte.

Plus: oh this is going to sound horrid, but it’s true – Aries and Saggo women tend (unless they actually work in a fashion-forward industry and are obsessive beauty fiends) tend to stick with whatever worked with them the year of their high school formal or something. Even when they are madly modern and current in every single other context.

And voila! French Elle are doing a stars-sans-makeup issue. Or, as they say, “sans fards” – without rouge. I think this is actually quite brave given the classically massive clout of cosmetics advertisers in fash-mags. But it’s totally refreshing & cool. No-make-up could be THE trend of the Pluto-In-Capricorn era. Maybe that previous Pluto A La Mode stuff (the monochrome beige peasanty look) was just the pre-quel? And this the real deal???

May I remind you that the currently Plutonified Carla Bruni abhors make-up? Anyway, citing your Sun, Rising and/or Venus sign would you-do you-c0uld you go without makeup? Or are you one of those peeps who lugs around a 1950s style vanity case packed with spak-filla & spare sculpting brushes?

I love the idea of make-up, the names & themes but in practice look way better without it or with a bare minimum. Do we really need industrial strength primer/foundation in world of modern skincare & better health? I mean, some of this stuff evolved not so much to gild the gorgeous lily as hide the hideocrity from crap nutrition & plague.

My daughter and i saw two Emirates air hostesses smoking outside a hotel the other day. They had those cute little hats & tight pencil skirts & shitloads of make-up on. Expertly applied but a LOT, you know. My 8 yro daughter said admiringly “wow, they are like from history...” Maybe heavy make-up & the idea of putting one’s face on has totally had its day. I do feel a bit sorry for women, when they are interviewed, who say they leap out of bed early to put on their make-up before anyone can see them.

OR – the converse argument – is it a goddessy ritual that we should cleave unto in as a personal act of worship to Aphrodite et al? Is it somewhat puritan not to find pleasure in the ritual of applying a little bit of lip gunk here, some bronzer there? Because I have Moon in Libra, i can see both sides.

And, while we are on this, is French Elle being amazing by going back to favouring the reader above & beyond the advertisers or is there some cynical hype behind this? But i do think it’s very, very Pluto in Cap…In Capricorn For A Day, note that her look is absolutely & ruthlessly exfoliated but NO visible make-up. No artificial colour.
