Yay the Moon in Taurus: Strong, sensual & completely unflappable. Eco-grounded and in harmonious aspect to uber-Jupiter & Pluto. Perfect weekend for gardening, sex, massage, getting a grip (Taurus-style, just give yourself a good talking to and then go bake a cake or lie on the couch. Don’t read anything too ‘tricky’.) And the Sun is trining Saturn; alleviating Saturn-Pluto stress with genius ideas for the revamp. Yes, Saturn-Pluto IS always about structurally altering aspects of your life that are not functioning.

Arthur Rackham – Titania Sleeping…
Thyme is antiseptic, antibiotic & apparently the main ingredient in Listerine. You can make your own really cool mouthwash by bunging Thyme essential oil in some water…Not too much as it is insanely strong. The Ancient Romans & Greeks said it bestowed Courage.
It’s a herb of Mercury & Venus so good for clarity in love. They say that, in dream pillows, it wards off nightmares but I have not tried that yet. Maybe as an adjunct to the mugwort?
It’s Za’atar in Arabic & i think they ground it up with nuts as sort of an aromatic between courses thingie?
It’s obviously a major culinary herb all over the place but what i really like about Thyme is that it is said to attract fairies to your garden. Titania, the Fairy Queen, sleeps on a bed of Wild Thyme. I know it is Thyme not Time but i love the concept of ‘wild time’ too. Also, if you drink Thyme tea, it apparently means you can see fairies all of a sudden. Plus, like sage, it would help a sore throat.

It’s harder than you might imagine to get the real essence of the Vanilla Bean. And cleaning your fridge with the stuff is way more evocative than you’d think from whiffing the synthetic grot that is most “vanilla essence.” The real thing - this is just one example – is so totally worth getting your hands on because it is SO magic.
A la saffron, vanilla was once more valuable than gold – it has it’s own dark & torrid history/mythology – linked by legend with a lost princess-Persephone-style bride of the MesoAmericas, it was bought to America by the conqueror Cortez but they could not cultivate it until a then 12 year old slave boy named Edmond Albius figured out how to hand-pollinate vanilla. I would LOVE to be able to say that he lived happily and prospered amidst his gloriously scented vanilla plantation but twas not so! It has long been a tale of exploitation.
The real essence is an aphrodisiac – truly, i have tried this and i don’t know if it’s because i smell like a cupcake or not but vanilla is a POTENT lure-all kind of an aphrodisiac. Ylang-Ylang’s vibe is more Uranian and urbane & Rose makes one feel Queenly – only Vanilla works to draw them all in….It has other medical effects, still being studied. One says it is calming- the next that it increases adrenaline.
The real vanilla is traditionally part of a fast-money fix along with the essential oil of cinnamon & you burn and/or wear them both in a blend. I add vanilla to rose, patchouli, grapefruit and ylang-ylang to make a mix I call Venusian 9. It is awesome but you have to watch that one doesn’t tip in too much vanilla – it wants to dominate & it is a plant of Pluto.
AND – yes – REAL vanilla is fab in cooking but i am so un-flash a cook that is been perhaps less than ten times that i’ve ever used vanilla pod/beans in cooking…thoughts? The association of the word “vanilla” with lukewarm sex or whatever as in something tempered down is SO odd! Vanilla is WILD – snort some of the real essence and you will totally get it. Anyone who thinks they are so smart for referring dismissively to something as VANILLA WHATEVER is ill-informed…
They are maybe talking about the synthetic vanilla? The true vanilla bean is magic.

Earth Signs & most especially Taurus are meant to be Earth-Angelic at gardening, green-fingered Druidic types able to coax flowery shrubs and magical herbs from even the most arid of soil. That’s the trad. I tried to research “famous gardeners” for clues but many of them were blessed with fabulous estates, an amazing vision and army of gardeners to manifest it. I am more interested in the amateur home gardener persona;
Are you…
(a) A genius of the garden – you have but to walk forth in beauty & chamomile lawns + gardenias spring up in your scented wake?
(b) A worker bee but brilliant – you have methodically researched the whole thing & your garden, no matter what size, functions appropriately?
(c) Able to scorch even the most hardiest bamboo plant with one withering glance – seriously you can defoliate anything?
(d) Not into staying one place long enough to even give a shit about such a naff question?
(e) Anti-gardens/gardening as bourgeois construct – you care only for Wildcraft and will not eat nor even look at plants that are not official weeds.
Please pick the option above that MOST closely aligns with your stance and add also your Sun, Rising and/or Moon sign so that we may get some data here in the Comments.

Keiichi Nishimura, Cranes Over Moon
I am not majorly into progressions. Some say introvert astrologers prefer and are good at progressions whilst the extroverts get off on transits. I am totally a transit person. But if i am really keen on figuring something out, the progressions can create some brill oh-my-goddings moments.
But I DO love the Progressed Moon. It is like a sort of temporary or extra Moon that you have for two and a half years. Without bogging you down in astro-theory, you can figure out your progressed moon by going to Astrodienst and then the Extended Chart Options & getting your Progressed Chart from the list. Obviously, if you are an Astro-Fiend, you can do all sorts of fun stuff with that – but for now, just look at the Moon & voila; your temporary Moon.
It’s especially handy if the prog Moon is – for instance – in a sign or an element that could be boofed up a bit in your chart. eg; you have hardly any Fire but the Moon hangs out in Leo for two and a half years. Or it makes an aspect (a conjunction to your natal Pluto, say) that wakes up hitherto unrealised aspects of your psyche. But i think it’s just fun to be aware of. Mine has been in Taurus for the last little bit and is about to go into Gemini & I am already feeling it; less interest in food, more fidgety & impulsive, amoral…But i loved what the temporary Moon in Taurus did for me. I got into gardening! Self-acceptance! And a really hard-to-define sort of primal sensuality that is how i imagine Taureans feel all the time?
So check out your temporary Moon & have some fun with it. Remember also, that the Moon in your chart needs to be fed-fed-fed. You do what your Moon needs and you will always feel at home in the world. NOT what someone else thinks would be cool for you or some generalised dictate; your Moon. Thus if you look to your progressed Moon as well, even better…Try it and see.
These Moon ideas are off the top of my head and apply to both the Moon you were born with AND your temporary/progressed Moon;
Moon in Aries needs respect & to lead NOW, Moon in Taurus to have their body fed regularly & tended to via bodywork etc ALL the time, Moon in Gemini needs mental stimulus, no dullards & variety within a urbane routine, Moon in Kataka needs to feel home is a haven & peaceful peeps, Moon in Leo likes theatre, laughter, to be officially glam & big haired-fab, Moon in Virgo needs clutter-free, clean-clean-clean & a sense of perfect health, Moon in Libra has to have everything pretty-gorgeous, smelling like heaven, freaks at grot, lack of symmetry, Moon in Scorpio either needs sex ten times a day or to be celibate for the year + kundalini yoga & to relax by reading conspiracy theory, Moon in Sagg; travel, freedom, wandering, at the very least ethnic foods/foreign movies, a lot of wilderness, Moon in Cap; to climb, score success, be able to obsess re financial freedom/security with fab results, apply personal full ON living systems, Moon in Aquarius needs to individuate & do precisely what they want at any given moment no matter what & Moon in Pisces – okay – will prob like a few drinks, lol and/or explore transcendental escape via meditation/art etc. Needs to be mystical & easily freaked by admin…
Soz – I thought i put it in post. Progressed Moon goes for two and a half years. You can get an Astro-Query to figure it out or just fiddle with the Astrodienst chart. eg; change the date to be six months ahead & see where your Prog Moon is then. Is also quite fun to backtrack & see where it was at important dates in your life.
