How are we all Phoenixing in the wake of that Mars-Squared Full Moon???  It was bang-on my IC (cusp of the home sector) & squared by Mars fuqing around in my 6th so I hit the roof at my now-ex-Feng-Shui Master for various good reasons & went out to get a new one. A Gemini! This, for me, is major and SUCH a good damned fit with the Astro…What I love about it is only after-the-event did i think ’shit, that Full Moon was right on my IC and look what i did.”

So anyway, think what you realised – and with Mars squaring, there is always an element of irritation leading to this realisation, it’s NOT Zen Noire – and then see the New Moon on November 16/17 as the big new Scorpionic fresh beginning vibe. The Phoenixing. It starts now, obviously, but this is the culling stage.  And Saturn square Pluto so wants to help…Mars in Leo is kinda in v.loose and weird aspect to the pair of them so there is motivation galore.

Phoenixing Revelations micro and macro here please…

Remember also to notice how decisions or ideas make you FEEL…Excited? Hi-Qi?  Scattered? Low? Etc…

“Saturn is a living symbol of gloom, morbidity, disaster, fatality. Satun is malefic through force of inertia. Its ring, which is only paperweight in thickness, according to savants, is the wedding ring which signifies death or misfortune devoid of all significance. Saturn whatever it may be to the astronomer, is the sign of the senseless fatality to the man in the street.
“Saturn is life in suspense, not dead so much as deathless, i.e. incapable of dying. Saturn is as eternal as fear and irresolution, growing more milky, more cloudy with each compromise, each capitulation. Saturn gives us only what we ask for, never an ounce extra.
“Saturn is the stellar impostor setting itself up as the grand cosmocrator of fate, Monsier le Paris, the automatic pole-axer of a world smitten with ataraxy. Let the heavens sing its glory – this lymphatic globe of doubt and ennui will never cease to cast its milk white rays of lifeless gloom.”

Henry Miller in The Colossus Of Maroussi

Miller actually had a brilliantly placed Saturn!  He  must have been having a hell of a horrid Saturn transit at that point. He was a multiple conjunct Capricorn – Sun, Mercury, Midheaven & Venus all in Capricorn…And Saturn (the planetary ruler of Capricorn) is at 29 Virgo trining his Venus in Cap + his North Node in Taurus; Enduring success and celebrity for sure. Both literary, commercial, for his personal life & as in his philosophies portrayed via fridge magnitude…

Yes, it’s a fabulous time for a new beginning – any New Moon is good but a strong Solar Eclipse in the fertile sign of Kataka & with Uranus favourably aspecting is awesome.  So, go for it, name your resolution in the comments & experience the joy of a public avowal.

Mine is in the 6th house so i am determined to set aside time for proper meditation & a (most of the time) pre-bed ritual so that I’m  not lying there with my mind abuzz. So will master my circadian and other rhythms to zap my brainwaves into Theta or whatever fast. ie: more serenity & all. And to joyously develop better admin systems.

And yours???

The Jupiter-Saturn axis is a really quick, cool & easy way to do a fast-take on charts – both natal & the transits.

The past of your chart where you have Saturn sitting natally (where it was when you were born) or where it is currently transitting is where you have to just knuckle under, work hard and be super-mature. There are no short-cuts in your Saturn area and it’s stupid to even try. Just accept it as your area that needs to be worked hard. So if you have Saturn going through your 6th House (health & admin, to summarise) you don’t fuq around with your filing. You keep warranties.  You go to the gym. You stop smoking. You honour the Saturn area.

Jupiter – both your natal Jupiter and where-ever it is transitting – is where you are loaded with luck, you can get away with a bit of risky behaviour & happily apply all the “my universe is forever abundant and smiling upon me with adoration” style affirmations & just flowing. It’s where you can take a punt. Natal Jupiter is your blessing in life. Nurture it with an attitude of faith and trust in a higher power for brilliant results.  Saturn is not, ahem, evil but it’s vibe is more like the pleasure you get from having accomplished a trip to the dentist and done your tax return on the same day. It’s sober.

So, for a quick astro-thrill, check out Saturn and Jupiter both natally and by transit. Hone & work the Saturn area with an awesome attitude of grown-up work ethic & humility. Let rip with the largesse & expansive Semper Fidelis style exuberance where Jupiter lolls.

Luis Bunuel

Let me clarify the query: You are having a Seance & have somehow managed to be assured of a top-notch guest list. The presence of ONE passed on A-lister is guaranteed…Whom would you choose???  Mine would be the surrealist writer & film director Luis Bunuel. His autobiography My Last Sigh is one of my all-time fave reads.

He was Sun Sign Pisces with Neptune Rising in Gemini. Neptune Rising or otherwise prominent is so often found in the charts of great & influential cinema luminaries. It is also the astro-signature of a mystical and artistic calling. His Mercury in Pisces squared Pluto in Gemini; hence ability & compulsion to go sex-death-occult muckraking in a way that revolutionised movies. Uranus, Jupiter and North Node conjunct in Saggo/6th House. So, 6th House being what you do for ‘a living’ and to serve society he was destined to innovate it somewhat. If one is gonna get all karma-goo-goo over this, his 12th House South Node would indicate a sage who had reincarnated with the specific purpose of advancing society. His Mars in Aquarius (more iconclasm) is conjunct the Midheaven (drive to fame) and trine Neptune (he liked to get out of it but productively so)…

In April 2011 Neptune crosses Luis Bunuel’s Midheaven and what’s the bet there will be some interesting secrets or new work of his discovered?

Anyway, whom would YOU invite?

Whitney Houston, one of the best-selling artistes of all time, has clearly had probs in the last six years or so. Since, actually, Pluto hit her Midheaven.  Not that that transit ought usually to result in a cavalcade of domestic abuse & drug allegations, an especially troubled divorce, litigation with step-parents, more apparent hard drug use and some shocking photos published as proof of the latter.

Now she is set to produce a comeback album – Undefeated – in Sept with one of the songs being I Didn’t Know My Own Strength“I didn’t know my own strength/ And I crashed down and I tumbled/ But I did not crumble/ I got through all the pain/ I didn’t know my own strength/ Survived my darkest hour/ My faith kept me alive/ I picked myself back up/ Hold my head up high/ I was not built to break/ I didn’t know my own strength.”

I’m thinking this could be a major moment for Ms Houston as she steps forward into mid-40s divahood, triumphant and -  yes – having overcome her battles to become a beacon for people of all ilks. Even if you don’t like her music, DO admit the lady has a voice. Listening to the stuff on her site, i realised just how much her songs formed a kind of backing soundtrack for my late 80s & 90s. Does her chart sustain a comeback triumph?

Okay, she has some AWESOMELY benevolent & super-powered astro-assets.

She’s a Leo with her Leo Sun conjunct Venus (hotness, beauty, art, talent) and she’s got her Aries Moon conjunct Jupiter. That is like a plucky survivor signifier. Random prediction: will she come out when Uranus crosses Moon-Jupiter in 2014? It would be a fantastic Oprah moment.

Chiron Rising in Pisces; maverick with a message, wounded healer et al. Mercury-Uranus-Pluto in the 6th house (she can work & feels a keen sense of mission to society) & oddly enough, the very same Lilith-Neptune in Scorpio conjunction as George Sand.

As I said, she’s had shite going on in since Pluto hit on her Midheaven back in 2002 but now Pluto is set to trine her Mercury-Pluto-Uranus conjunction in the 6th AND Jupiter is on her Pisces Asc from next Feb. I’m tipping YES, that she can do it & she’ll be an unreal figure of inspiration to people battling their own domestic abuse/drug style issues.

The post-Pluto transit return from hell makeover  moment of glory can be awesome. It would be poignant in the wake of Michael Jackson too, non? I want to see her in full Leoness.  I like how her comeback kicks off as Pluto goes Direct.

Time-Lordly Saturn, God of boundaries and that which can be measured – am not in the mood to go into mortality & taxes right now but one could. But right now, am interested in the POSITIVE side of Saturn. Saturn has just whizzed Direct and is now zooming through the end degrees of Virgo, with one BIG opposition to Uranus before zipping into Libra. Last weekend was a strong Saturn vibe, f.y.i.

But this D.I.Y. Astro challenge is simply this. Get your chart & clock the sign and the house that Saturn is in; This area of your life is one that’s achingly difficult in early life – perhaps even pre-Saturn Return but it becomes buffed up, worked at and eventually your shining pride. And most likely only you will know how hard it was. Where-ever Saturn is, you get to WORK.  You have to have a proper structured plan. You learn harsh lessons in that area of life.

eg; a lot of self-made people have Saturn in the 2nd house – $$$ and self-worth, to name the most pertinent themes. They can seem amazingly financially secure, glowingly prosperous even but they’ve had to struggle not only for that money but for the idea that they deserve it. Perhaps also to crawl out from under some strange inheritance from a parent re money. I mean inherited ideas…eg; a gambling father. Or a mother who hoarded things. Your Saturn area is often also where you are self-taught.

Saturn in the 6th can be someone who was sick or somehow burdened with an allergy or similar in youth. So later they become these incredible beacons of fitness, nutrition and knowledge – it’s not apparent what they had to go through to get to that point. I know someone with Saturn in the 6th who had to wear some sort of a orthopedic cast thingie at primary school to correct a spine problem, which mortfied her. She was hospitalised for anorexia as a teen and then – to get over that – she got into competitive body building. In each extreme she went over the top; now she is a really brilliant homeopath & yoga teacher.  Most people who meet her would have  no idea the issues she had with her body.

So, go check out your Saturn & see what you can figure out. It’s always good to remember to be sensitive with another person’s Saturn area. And, it’s always the area of someone’s chart/life that they really love having honestly acknowledged. eg; Saturn in the 3rd (communications) could be someone who had to overcome a severe speech defect or was maybe raised in an environment where she wasn’t really allowed to talk. So that Saturn would love being acknowledged for her eloquence or even just lovely speaking voice. Saturn in the 3rd can start with a stutter and/or shyness and wind up on the radio or the public speaking circuit. True!

It is the birthday of Katherine Hepburn  (Sun, Moon, Mercury in Taurus, Scorpio Rising, Venus in Aries/6th house)…Note ornery Taurean stubborness and the ruler of Taurus – Venus – in Aries/6th house. Obsession with digestion indeed. Also Venus-in-Aries is independent trailblazer, shunning marriage to be mistress to Spencer Tracy…Taurus with Scorp Rising is sooo fixed.

“She was obsessed with flowers. She couldn’t relax unless fresh flowers were in every room. When she repaired to Fenwick from her town house in New York, she would take the flowers with her. Sometimes, she could be seen leaping out of her car to pick wildflowers by the side of the road.

She kept a fire burning in the fireplace at all times, even in L.A., even in Summer.

She was equally obsessed with hydration, both drinking enough water and making sure people urinated frequently.

She never sat in a chair if she could help it. Her customary after-dinner position? Sprawled out on her stomach. “Helps the digestion.”

She took a gazillion showers every day. She didn’t like eating out in restaurants because she found them too expensive. At seventy-one she took up jogging. With Greta Garbo, then seventy-three.”

Today is the birthday of Lee Miller, the Vogue covermodel turned intern & Muse to peeps such as Man Ray & Jean Cocteau to surrealist photographer and then genius photojournalist. Her early life was horrid. She was raped by a family friend and contracted a vile venereal disease:  “I looked like an angel but I was a fiend inside.”  She was one of the first photographers to document the horrors of the concentration camps & reveal them to the outside world.

lee_miller_hitler_tub_1945

This famous pic is of her in Hitler’s bathtub, after just such a harrowing journey.

The Carolyn Burke bio is brill & the book by her son, Anthony Penrose is sooo moving.  He says he did not understand the totality of her until after her not-so-easy demise. Heaps of her pics are at the Lee Miller virtual archive.

Her astro for Astro-Fiends & according to the magnificent new Astro DataBank app which i will link to properly) is here;

Libra Rising – the beauty & the free lover, classic. Mars-Uranus the iconoclast in Capricorn and a Grand Trine with the Sun in Taurus & Moon in Virgo. Venus-Saturn in Pisces in the 6th (health) square Pluto in Gemini…that awful childhood health/rape curse. Mercury in Aries right on her Dsc so a big-mouth urge to rant off & tell her truth powerfully opposing the Libra Rising looks & desire for harmony. Jupiter conjunct Neptune (just like is gonna happen soon in late May!) in the sign of Kataka (Cancer) on the Midheaven aka career point so a true visionary & destined to influence/alter our collective culture and the Anima Mundi…aka World Soul.
