Johnny Depp is always on some list or another & how hard is it to believe that he is nearly 50?  Really. This pic is a recent one & if that’s a natural pose, him at home or whatever, then he is not exactly doing a strict macrobiotic diet or whatever.

He’s Gemini, the male sign of the Zodiac most often credited with looking years younger than their chronological years would suggest. Yes, he’s a wealthy celebrity and all but still…He’s got Leo Rising & Moon in Capricorn…A cash-canny heart beats behind all the effortless sanguine cool. Also, he’s got Mars-Pluto-Uranus in the 2nd house. A super-astute businessman.

AND – he’s got Moon in Capricorn + he’s with a Capricorn woman. Vanessa Paradis is Zero Degrees Cap and her Scorpio Rising slots in perfectly with his Neptune/Lilith conjunction. Chemistry is always ultra strong when someone’s Ascendent (aka Rising Sign) is conjunct a major planet of yours. You sort of embody it or ‘carry’ it for them.

Gemini men – perpetual boys or not?

“I used to have this, this idea, that I was sort of like, part of, like, this alien race that were part Venus and part American Indian. Now this sounds kind of funny now, but I was very serious about it as a child. [Laugh.] I had a whole cosmology and a whole universe, formed around these thoughts. But, I definitely didn’t feel at home on the planet. I felt much more at home when I’d read books about the Aztecs, or about, or if I’d read stories about aliens on other planets. Or I just, I didn’t really feel like I belonged… Those private thoughts I had, were part of my creative energy, or the complexity of my mind, but I wasn’t a disturbed child, I was just, a little off-beat, I guess.”

Patti Smith – Sun-Mars in Capricorn, Saggo Rising, Moon in Pisces, Neptune Conjunct Midheaven & Saturn conjunct Pluto in Leo. The latter two aspects bring her (astrologically) in line with John Lennon as a collective muse for the Pluto in Leo generation, carrier of many projections. Sun-Mars in 2nd house SUCH a grounding gift for her.

I think that your childhood DreamScape is perhaps the most intensely personal & amazing part of yourself – it comes before the earthy intimacies of sex & money and exists devoid of functional/dysfunctional families, class et al. And Mars in Cancer/Kataka + Mercury Retrograde for most of September is a fab time to resurrect your childhood DreamScape, with productive and loving intent. I sound woo-woo, like i need to order some henna and a lilac kaftan – but it’s so true.

Sometime in the next few weeks, ponder your childhood DreamScape & profit…

The 2nd house of your chart is known as the House of Earned Income – as opposed to the 8th house which can be money that just sorta comes to you…The 2nd House is your Money Box, your Wealth Sector and is symbolic  of your attitude toward toward lucre, material possessions and – deeper – your sense of self-adequacy.

Look first to the sign on the cusp of the House. And guys, the point of D.I.Y. Astro is that you glomp your chart off Astrodienst & have fun figuring it out here. There are always peeps to help or me, if you spring for an Astro-Query. Anyway, look to the sign on the cusp of the 2nd house. This is FUN. That sign is how you are with $$$.

So even though YOU may be a super-cautious & canny Capricorn, if you’ve got Leo lurking on the cusp of your 2nd – LOL. You will LIKE the sensation of having “proper” champagne in your fridge and you do not give a shit about what some wine wanker says about how some shit-house cheap sparkling wine is superior. No-no-no. You feel soothed by the registered orange hue of the Veuve label. Soothed.

Pisces on the cusp of the 2nd? You are so prone to giving stuff away. Things come to you when you need them as if by osmosis. Things go with ease. You’re like a walking installation of The Secret. Scorpio/Cancer on the cusp of the 2nd? You’re likely to be one of those peeps who just have the investment knack. You leapt in at the start of the tech boom and nipped out again quick smart. You can turn $5 into $500 and to you it’s as sensual and pleasurable as growing something in the garden.

But it’s not just the signs on the cusp of the 2nd. It’s also what’s in there! The classic challenged-by-money placement is our ye olde friend Saturn. Yet remember that your Saturn area gets buffed and buffed via loads of work and angsting till finally it becomes your shiniest area? Saturn in the 2nd house gets clobbered in early youth by seeming to lose money, be ripped off, just feeling always stuggling but by Jove, when this lot get self-reliant, they are a force. Healthy, wealthy & wise indeed.

Venus & Jupiter there – the benefics of trad astro – bless the person with the ability to sort of drum it up from nowhere, walk out the door and get offered the gig they need & even be fairly fortunate in just finding the stuff. Venus/Jupiter in the 2nd trots into garage sales & comes out clutching the actual valuable antique. Or gets a massive crush on some artist at uni who gives her his/her etchings & voila, they’re worth heaps at a later date.

Think also that you can make money via following the attributes of whatever sign/planet is plonked there. And don’t worry if no planet there – it just means it’s not that important to you. Uranus in 2nd; money off the net, via inventions & television. Neptune; film, acting, science fantasy. You could even have the gift of literally dreaming up profitable ideas. Pluto is like mogul-land. People who literally go from having zilch to being officially selfmade millionaires often have Pluto (or Scorp) in the 2nd.

Mercury & the Moon in the 2nd – you’re able to intuit so eerily well what peeps want that you do amazingly well in corporate world/sales & – obviously – writing/self-expression. Retail genius often goes with the Moon in the 2nd. Knowing what peeps want before they know it. Being able to divine trends.

So check out your 2nd house and try to go with it a bit. Oh and another one – Mars/Aries in 2nd house – they will go hard at it and take it as a personal assualt to their ego if you try to come between them and their earning power. They get off on earning & flashing it about a bit. It’s not vulgar – it’s just like someone with another kind of strong Mars doing chin-ups on the door to impress you.

Again, this is why i love astrology, it’s so helpful to get how peeps truly are different. So if one person feels  inclined to hoard & hoard whilst another is like carpe-diem,  it’s not that either of them are wrong! Go for it – check out your 2nd house, the sign on the cusp, anything in there (South NOde is like you’re over material security and feel stuck by it, North Node is like you GOTTA get it and have it to feel spiritually secure) whether or not you’re working it right AND any big transits through it…

Time-Lordly Saturn, God of boundaries and that which can be measured – am not in the mood to go into mortality & taxes right now but one could. But right now, am interested in the POSITIVE side of Saturn. Saturn has just whizzed Direct and is now zooming through the end degrees of Virgo, with one BIG opposition to Uranus before zipping into Libra. Last weekend was a strong Saturn vibe, f.y.i.

But this D.I.Y. Astro challenge is simply this. Get your chart & clock the sign and the house that Saturn is in; This area of your life is one that’s achingly difficult in early life – perhaps even pre-Saturn Return but it becomes buffed up, worked at and eventually your shining pride. And most likely only you will know how hard it was. Where-ever Saturn is, you get to WORK.  You have to have a proper structured plan. You learn harsh lessons in that area of life.

eg; a lot of self-made people have Saturn in the 2nd house – $$$ and self-worth, to name the most pertinent themes. They can seem amazingly financially secure, glowingly prosperous even but they’ve had to struggle not only for that money but for the idea that they deserve it. Perhaps also to crawl out from under some strange inheritance from a parent re money. I mean inherited ideas…eg; a gambling father. Or a mother who hoarded things. Your Saturn area is often also where you are self-taught.

Saturn in the 6th can be someone who was sick or somehow burdened with an allergy or similar in youth. So later they become these incredible beacons of fitness, nutrition and knowledge – it’s not apparent what they had to go through to get to that point. I know someone with Saturn in the 6th who had to wear some sort of a orthopedic cast thingie at primary school to correct a spine problem, which mortfied her. She was hospitalised for anorexia as a teen and then – to get over that – she got into competitive body building. In each extreme she went over the top; now she is a really brilliant homeopath & yoga teacher.  Most people who meet her would have  no idea the issues she had with her body.

So, go check out your Saturn & see what you can figure out. It’s always good to remember to be sensitive with another person’s Saturn area. And, it’s always the area of someone’s chart/life that they really love having honestly acknowledged. eg; Saturn in the 3rd (communications) could be someone who had to overcome a severe speech defect or was maybe raised in an environment where she wasn’t really allowed to talk. So that Saturn would love being acknowledged for her eloquence or even just lovely speaking voice. Saturn in the 3rd can start with a stutter and/or shyness and wind up on the radio or the public speaking circuit. True!

With this Up-Yourself Juice & the hypno track below,  you can go from being unconfident to completely and gloriously up yourself in just 20 mins. The hypno is downloadable off iTunes & then voomp, straight  into your iPod. i Love Glenn Harrold -  he is like this spunky Gemini hypnotist who says amazing stuff to you about how you should never take shit etc and in this bovver boy accent…The Dynamis is the only Aussie Bushflower essence that really works for me though i hear that Cognis is awesome.

I think that, even though it sounds totally non politically correct, using the phrase ‘up yourself’ resonates more than the anodyne sounding self-esteem. That’s very 90s and it’s a totally new zeitgeist. Also aiming to be Up Yourself is like an overshoot to ensure that the correct target of confidence is actually reached. Astrologically, self-confidence is in the 2nd house…And your Mars. A healthy Mars is confident & assertive but not insanely competitive nor aggressive. 2nd house is like self-esteem…Finances too. I will do a proper post about it another time…

Oh & this is awesome. I did the Five Card Practical Tarot last night – it’s a very simple spread for when you want fast clarity & don’t want to fuq around with long-winded readings or be lectured by the I-Ching re the conduct of the Superior Man.

Card One is Past Influence, Card Two is Present Influence, Card Three is Major Influence, Card Four is Advice and Card 5 is The Outcome. If you want more clarity you can then add TWO more cards to help “explain” the Outcome card but that is IT. It’s great for questions. Whereas the Celtic Cross spread, I reckon, can’t  help but drag in a LOT of stuff & be about long phases of time, as it’s so profound.

So I asked the question ‘did i do the right thing dumping my Aquarian  men?’  I mean, the fact that i wandering around singing is a fairly strong indicator but was curious re the Tarot.  And I got Judgement, Four Of Swords, Ace of Wands, The Fool and Strength…Yay! And then I got the Seven of Cups & Two of Cups…So fabulous…The only thing i am confused about slightly is Seven Of Cups…Any thoughts? Nothing Neg please…
