“…I have an austere temperament,” she says. “There are things that give me no pleasure: objects, clothes, jewelry. I’ve worn them all, but all that stuff interferes with my daily life.” She does her own hair. According to her friend Farida Khelfa, “Carla hates shopping and would wear the same pair of trousers every day if she could.” Makeup doesn’t interest her—”It takes forever and doesn’t make you look better after 30…”

From Vogue

Her chart is here & what do we see???

She has a poetic, musical & romantic Grand Water Trine with her Cancerian Ascendent trine Venus/Neptune in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces. She has to have a creative outlet…Her Nodes are the reverse of Madonna’s so she comes comes from luxury but with the vision of learning to value more subtle manifestations of the light. Note – the literal meaning of luxury is ‘of the light’.

Saturn in Aries on the Midheaven – climbs, responsibility will become a leader as Uranus first squares her Sun at Zero degrees of Cap and then crosses the Saturn & midheaven from 2011 and beyond…Through annhilating (Uranus) some dominant paradigm?  Or a stupendous scandal? Moon-Pluto in Virgo…Austere temperament indeed. Would not pay to cross her…Maternal mortality as cause of her heart so fits the astro.

It just occurred to me that there seem to be two broad types of Capricorn….The austere ones & a slightly more earthy & robust variety a la Nigella Lawson – she of the cupcakes, goosefat and pragmatic sense of  humour.

It’s the same with Aquarians: You get the ravingly bats don’t-fence-me-in Uranian types & then a more Saturnine version (Saturn being the ancient ruler of Aquarius, before Uranus was discovered) with the clinical demeanour and dislike for anything not scientifically proven. Pisceans too are often either Jovial or Neptunian…As in Jupiter was their ruler before Neptune.  So you get these bon-vivant Pisceans prancing about who are more like Sagg & then these Neptunian entrancers gliding about, between worlds & official mystics.

Have just been reading this fantastic Telegraph article re the possible romance between George Clooney & Fatima Bhutto.

“…Fresh from an ill-fated entanglement with a Las Vegas cocktail waitress, George Clooney, Hollywood’s Armani-suited Renaissance Man-on-call, is reported to have fallen for 26-year-old Fatima Bhutto, the new star of Pakistan’s greatest political dynasty. Across the sub-continent the excitement spread like Valentine’s Weekend wildfire. And why not? George is radical, Fatima is chic. It has to work out this time….”

Oddly enough, having adored Clooney in a number of movies (Intolerable Cruelty, Oceans 11, Three Kings & even One Fine Day) I actually got a bit sick of the sight of him last year. Prob just over-exposure, a bit like every mag having Kate Hudson on the cover at the moment and more or less the same article re her fabulosity.  But GC is incredible & apart from her being gorgeous & about 20 years younger than him, Ms Bhutto – the neice of Benazir – would seem to be a really interesting choice of would-be girlfriend for him. She, apparently, is not so keen because of the age gap & her fairly intense concerns in Pakistan.

And, looking at the astro between them, i wondered if she had an astrologer run the charts & then flipped. I mean really. With no time of birth for her (May 29 1982) it’s hard to be definitive about this but still…A few highlights. Or maybe lowlights.

George Clooney is a Taurus (Sun conjunct Mercury) with Pisces Rising and Moon-Saturn in Capricorn. That Moon-Saturn is a very sombre position & despite his debonair aura, that denotes a person who is very careful/conservative with giving his heart & most likely with good reason. Early hurt etc etc.Ms Bhutto is an early Gemini with Moon in Leo & we don’t know the rising due to no time. Her Venus in Aries squares (challenging) his sensitive Moon-Saturn in Capricorn combo. Her Pluto in Libra squares that Moon-Saturn in Capricorn combo. Both have Venus in Aries but not conjunct.

So that’s like a kind of similarity. But then her Saturn in Libra opposes his Venus. Her Jupiter squares his Jupiter. Her Sun squares his Chiron. Oh – a nice one – her Sun in Gemini trines his Jupiter in Aquarius. Her Uranus squares his Pisces Ascendent. Her Sun squares his Pisces Ascendent. This is a LOT of squares – ie; challenges -  & that is just from a cursory glance.

Some squares between charts are good. They are all about growth. And you certainly know when the other person’s in the room. But too many makes for just old-fashioned they-get-on-your-nerves-ishness. Of course, if they did manage to overcome some of the obstacles between them, doesn’t this mean George Clooney could one day be first “lady” of Pakistan? Or first man? And would it help or hinder U.S-Pakistani relations?

Oh and note that Saturn has just entered George Clooney’s 7th house for the first time in 29 years. So he is suddenly incapable of casual relationships. It would have to either be a significant partnership (apparently with some geopolitical impact as well, as he is such an  O.T.T. show-off with his cute little Mars at Zero degrees of Leo) or nothing-at-all. She is his Saturn-in-the-7th house manifestation. And maybe the Saturnine lesson would be a woman he cannot have…I am not generally judgemental re age gaps but i do think it is easier if both parties are either pre or post Saturn Return. It makes SUCH a difference.

Then again, she is having her Saturn Return in 2011 & with Saturn opposing her natal Venus shortly thereafter, reflecting a challenging & intense relationship most likely with an older person.

2012Doomsday2008

Is it the Eclipse??? I have an in-box full of fretful queries re the world ending in 2012 a la the Mayan Calendar & maybe the new movie of the same name. I have barely read these e-mails as they fuq with my Qi!

Seriously, it’s awful. What if the Buddhist calendar says we’re going into a Golden Age? Why so much credence given to the Mayans? This sort of gleeful pessimism has been with us for yonks. I remember chatting to a really well known psychic person crapping on about Earth Changes & Leura (high in the Blue Mountains near Sydney) becoming the new waterfront back in 1999.

This was after the August ‘99 Grand Cross-Eclipse thing that, disappointingly to some, did not end the world.  This woman said to me earnestly,  “let me put it this way, there won’t be a Sydney Olympics in 20oo.”  We were all supposed to be underwater or vapourised.  My uncle’s mistress joined the Jehovah’s witnesses at one point & they also seemed to thrill to the idea of the end of the world. Note that some of the New Agers & some Christians share similar beliefs that somehow the believers or those with a high enough vibe – whatever – will be carefully sifted out from the rest.

And looking at the astro for 2012, it’s not so bad. Honestly! Neptune will be in Pisces, the sign it rules. And sextiling Pluto in Capricorn. More visionary recreation of biz-power structures. Yes, Uranus in Aries squares Pluto (as it does from next year, basically) and this has a signature of sudden, forced evolution about it but if it happened in a person’s personal birthscope, no astrologer would sit there & say ‘wow, you’re going to end…’  The prediction would be more like ‘get ready to farewell moribund and non-viable ye olde hat crap structures in your life’.  It will hasten the evolution that has already begun toward a more (ultimately) equitable, happy and prosperous world.

Seriously, please don’t e-mail me saying i am too optimistic re Pluto in Capricorn or whatever. The net is full of more pessimistic soothsayers & some of them even channel ancient barbarians to drive home their point. So go read them. I believe in loads of things – ghosts, u.fo.s, Feng Shui, astrology – obviously – but i don’t believe in New Agie nihilism. And I even believe this Eclipse tonight is so auspicious (a la Jupiter conjoining it all etc) that is ushering in a beautiful new era, the Age Of Aquarius, finally.  Amazing discoveries, innovations and advances in all realms will emancipate us from crappy old style cant and help everyone lead better lives.

If my 2009 and (later) 2010 astro books sell all right, i absolutely intend to be writing 2012. And no not from my secret hide-out, just in case. And the new ephemeris i just ordered goes to 2100, so there.
