Interstellar Astronaut

A group of explorers make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. [IMDB]

Nothing says cinematic auteur like Sun, Mars, Mercury and Lilith all in Leo with the North Node in Pisces.

Yes, that’s the astro of Christopher (Inception) Nolan.

Interstellar has several of my fave things – quantum physics/dark matter, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, time travel and alternative dimensions.

Who else is mad for this new season high concept sci-fi?

  1. Indeed, perfect astro! Especially given the mind-fuqery/ genius of Memento. I’d wonder, with his preference for sci-fi and non-linear story-telling, where’s his Uranus?

    • Is interesting considering the non-linear temporal thing that he has planets only in the first and last decanates of any sign – there is only the energy of beginning and end in his chart, there is no middle, although none of the decans ruled by uranus according to this link have planets in his natal chart. I’m new to learning about the decans so not sure about how that works (or doesn’t) but wondering if it’s jupiter that causes the expansion of the concept of non linear chronology? Or the neptune opposing saturn on the scorpio, taurus axis.

Then there’s the muse theory – check out Emma Thomas’ astro and see if she has a strong uranus that aspects his chart in synastry. Great artists seldom work alone.

  2. Space scares me, so no. All that emptiness, free-falling terror, claustrophobic cabins. no no no. Even watching movies about it gives me the willies. “Huston We Have A Problem”–uhhh no thanks!

As does air travel. This Virgo likes to stay grounded on Earth.

If there’s going to be any interdimensional travel it needs to happen from the comfort of my living room.

  3. Still re-reading all of the Dune series. The Spacing Guild navigators ‘fold’ space to get to other universes faster than light.
That would be space as a wave theory, that you jump from crest to crest and leave out the troughs to save ‘time’.
Written over 30 years ago waaay before Branes and Waves were discovered.

  4. I think I’m going to prefer Interstella 5555 by Daft Punk. It’s cute! And very soulful. Mystic, could you do their astro, their last album is sublime :)

  5. I’m astonished that this post hasn’t kicked off!

Love any space-related concept film. Challenging themes are fascinating handled in zero atmosphere.

Gravity, meh, but Duncan Jones’ Moon is one of my all-time favourites. Interstellar has all the right ingredients – looking forward to seeing how Christopher. Nolan does his twisty darkness in space. I just hope Matthew McConaughey makes it to the end.

  6. Me too with the Matthew. I even had the horn for his magic mike character, that is how much i love matt. Mystics raving about MOON made me see it and that got me into Duncan Jones, j’adore. I don’t know what this says about me but i get most of my “cultural” clues and recommendations from this site now and i don’t have to wade throught all the ads to get them.

I saw Enders Game, speaking of sci fi, it is a snore but the young aries star Asa Butterfield is going to be HUGE imho

    • Ditto – I get my tips from Mystic and fellow people of the blog on many areas of life: perfume/scents, witchy stuff, spreadsheeting, exfoliating products, culture, music, movies, literature, and on and on it goes.

When Mystic starts posting about cultured foods (sauerkraut, kombucha, etc) all of my interests will be neatly encapsulated herein.

      • I draw the line at Kombucha. It was supposed to be hugely popular and take over the world. I’ll it did was take over your kitchen and multiple like a gremlin. Kombucha the kitchen apocalypse.
Moon such a gem, can’t fault it.
