Britney’s ‘Work Bitch’ Saturn Transit

Britney Work It

You wanna
You wanna

[Chorus]
You wanna hot body
You want a bugatti
You wanna maseratti
You better work bitch
You want a lamborghini
Sip martinis
Look hot in a bikini
You better work bitch
You wanna live fancy
Live in a big mansion
Party in France

You better work bitch
You better work bitch
You better work bitch

Now get to work bitch
(ahhhh)
Now get to work bitch
(ahhhh)

[Verse 1]
Bring it on
Ring the alarm
Don’t stop now
Just be the champion
Working hard like it’s your profession
Watch out now
‘Cause here it comes

Britney is BACK and doing a hardcore Saturn transit. Can you not tell from these lyrics? Saturn Girl is totally her Muse. Even her expression is totally ‘pointy bit of a Saturn transit.’

She’s Saggo and many of us recall her hardcore Pluto years – the shaving her head, the pharma, the Kevin Federline, the petro-chem naff scent launches, the flashing etc.

But since last October, she’s had Saturn on her Jupiter, squaring her Aquarius Moon and it SO suits her.

Next up: a song about her early nights, the quantified self, nettle tea and spreadsheet mastery.

  1. i interpreted the lyrics -get to work bitch – as screwing/blowing old rich men for lifestyle. Perhaps its has a duel meaning. “Working hard like it’s your profession” the use of a simile suggests that she is not in fact working IN A PROFESSION.

The only Saturn-like thing about it is the Gold-digging!

      • Ever try singing, while dancing and go on world tour’s without a day off in months? I’d say it’s hard work and yes, a vocation, calling, career and a profession.
Singing is not easy, not everyone can do it.

      • I took the lyrics at face value. You want something ? You got to put the work in. Everyone used to say I was lucky to have a size 8 tight body. Uh yeah like I eat raw and paleo and work out like a demon. Yeah I have this bod just handed me on a plate, of fries! Potato potato.

      • i didn’t read the lyrics as being about golddigging either. more about putting in the hard yards to get what your heart desires (yes, this might be shallow stuff like expensive cars etc, but hey people can like what they like, whatever floats your boat).

      • OMG I TOTALLY SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!

I like that. I like it a lot.

I also like that it’s a reference to ye olde studio musicals, exploitation, child stars etc.

This moon has me completely liminal and loving the loaded nature of it all.

      • True. Doing Saturn is about being true to you, not what is expected and projected at you by others. I want to see the “real” and raw Britney. Life is about more than consumerist acquisition. Saturn gets you to know that the Soul’s pursuit needs nurturing.

The song does remind me of Supermodel (You better work) as mentioned below.

  2. pic reminds me of manet’s folies bergere bar painting. somehow. am not a fan of britney’s oeuvre but I am a stoic supporter of her resilience – hopefully it is her at the wheel of this phase and not her agent/record company etc.

        • I like it – she’s no longer doey naive wants to please eyed but defensive, experienced and assessing. maybe a bit tired, yeah, but she’s been working hard, lol. Go Brit.

          • Yeah for sure the doe has gone! There’s a point when the feminine face changes from maiden – I just saw it happen to a friend of mine, there’s a knowing, seated in their power thing that happens. A worldly thing.

I was googling around trying to find out who the photographer of this pic is (no mention anywhere), because I get a real sense of deconstructed Manet with this image and I wanted to see if they had a history of that kind of referencing in their work – it would be clever on many levels if it were deliberate, I wanted to see if I was reading more into it than was actually there.

So I’ve seen quite a bit of Britney as a result of my quest and I feel as though that’s what’s happened to her. She is now Woman with a capital W. Whatever that means for her.

One thing that I find fascinating about Britney is that although she is probably extremely wealthy in a material sense, there’s still the references to her origins. I wonder how much money and work does a person have to do before they are accepted as no longer being a trailer dweller? Not letting go of that stereotype seems really deeply seated in the class system that capitalism was the antidote to. It’s interesting. Plutonic.

  3. I thought saturn transits were supposed to lessen superficiality? I hate the showgirl look personally. The frenetic brand name dropping still reeks of trailer trash aspiration.

    • what’s the deal with the whole ‘bad bitch’ thing. some kind of contra-branding to set apart from cheerleader or homebody or strait-laced career type? or bogan? whatevs.. it sort of annoys me, because it’s like you have to be a badass to get up and fuqing work and do your thing. When you can just… get up and fuqing work and do your thing. in short, i agree.

      • i mean i get the subtleties of the whole idea. but still. oh i know what it is! it’s the attitude…lawd. am i showing my cap moon or what

        • All these Pop Diva Bunnies sprouting up all over the place. Where is the substance? Barbie can sing too…blah so over it.
Didn’t she sing “It’s Britney bitches” in another song. I’ve got no problem with the language it’s the content.
Don’t get me wrong…I love me a good pop tune. But this is not. She should get herself a Scandinavian song writer.

  4. Love it.
Have always had a soft spot for Britney.
This is so my ethos too.
I’m vehemently anti “findom” and have made more than a few enemies by coming out strongly on my websites and blogs about it.
I created the hash tag FIT DOMME and the concept because I believe if you want something you have to work for it. Love that she kept the word Bitch in too. My gay boy family will def approve of THAT. It’s a term of endearment.

  5. i like the way her face is maturing and her hooded eyed stare….thick neck though, huh? what’s her rising sign? Toro?

  6. Lovely Britney!
She exudes helplessness, loneliness and needing to please.
She reminds me of a slightly confused Marilyn Monroe (minus the hutzpah, style & smarts, but still, appealing).

Saturn & Britney? I guess she needs a dose of Saturn to balance her out.
Marilyn had Arthur Miller who looked like Saturn’s Nephew and that didn’t work out well. I hope she can integrate her inner Saturn successfully. Personally I am always surprised to see Britney back in the limelight, maybe she is more Saturn than she appears afterall.

  7. It feels a bit sad…I also admire a fighting spirit, but what feels off to me is how this cover makes me think of someone at least twice her age. She has, in fact, crammed so much into her life that the 55-ish woman that I feel I’m looking at has earned a bit of a respite. I hope she powers through her Saturn transit and finds herself as I did, simply feeling LIKE HERSELF again, as if she is newly inhabiting her own body once more, a feeling she (as I) hadn’t felt since late teen years. And that does bring on the peace, love and nettle tea.

  8. Man … what a tough crowd. Very photo-shopped pic, but which celeb/magazine/photo shoot isn’t at this point?

I’ve always had a soft spot for Britt too. Photoshop and “pop star couture” be damned, she works. She has given up quite a bit to get the life she lives. It’s the path she’s chosen, but she’s definitely worked for it.

    I like it.

  9. Poetry to my ears, like violins playing in the background.

Once you begin getting in the flow it pushes out all the unnecessary stuff and the people who like you the least or threatened by your positive energy will show up the loudest with their negativity.

This is happening to me and it’s getting harder to keep the peace, neutrality and all aight ?

I’m just going to say “you better work bitch !”.

  10. I haven’t heard the Britney song yet, but from the lyrics alone, I see a similarity to this other song I’ve been obsessing over.

Iggy Azalea’s “Work,” which I learned of after watching the MTV Video Music Awards (she was up for newcomer of the year, lost to a boy who reminds me of Bieber)

    It goes as follows:

Walk a mile in these Louboutins
But they don’t wear these shits where I’m from
I’m not hating, I’m just telling you
I’m tryna let you know what the fuck that I’ve been through

Two feet in the red dirt, school skirt
    Sugar cane, back lanes
Three jobs, took years to save
But I got a ticket on that plane
People got a lot to say
But don’t know shit about where I was made
Or how many floors that I had to scrub
Just to make it past where I am from

    No money, no family
Sixteen in the middle of Miami

I’ve been up all night, tryna get that rich
I’ve been work work work work working on my shit
Milked the whole game twice, gotta get it how I live
I’ve been work work work work working on my shit
    Now get this work
    Now get this work
    Working on my shit

You can hate it or love it
Hustle and the struggle is the only thing I’m trusting
Thorough bread in a mud brick before the budget
White chick on that Pac shit
    My passion was ironic
    And my dreams were uncommon
Guess I gone crazy, first deal changed me
    Robbed blind, basically raped me
Rose through the bullshit like a matador
Just made me madder and adamant to go at em
    And even the score
    So, I went harder
Studied the Carters till a deal was offered
Slept cold on the floor recording
    At 4 in the morning
And now I’m passin’ the bar like a lawyer
    Immigrant, art ignorant
Ya ill intent was insurance for my benefit
    Hate to be inconsiderate
But the Industry took my innocence
Too late, now I’m in this bitch!

    Pledge allegiance to the struggle
    Ain’t been easy
But cheers to Peezy for the weeks we lived out of duffle
    bags is all we had
Do anything for my Mama, I love you
One day I’ll pay you back for the sacrifice
    That ya managed to muscle
Sixteen, you sent me through customs so
All aboard my spaceship to Mercury
Turn First at the light that’s in front me
Cause every night I’mma do it like it’s my last
This dream is all that I need
Cause its all that I ever had

    • I should have warned of profanity in the post. Or at least censored it. If anyone did not appreciate the language, I apologize. The message that one should work hard for what they want is the same, I think.

  11. “You better work.”

    Isn’t that a RuPaul’ism?

Anyway, I noticed there’s a fleshtone mesh insert on her bodysuit there. Very modest, Britney. Very Saturnian.

The lyrics ARE ambiguous, to be fair. But work is work, right? Well, I think so (venus conj saturn in scorp on the mc here).

If only she’d worn a full bodysuit with a girdle in that one VMA performance, back when, where her gut was hanging out and her hair was flat. Dancing AND singing in a girdle in her “condition” may have been a liability, come to think of it.

I secretly love her and hope she prevails.

  12. Have never really followed her as an artist but do love her ~Circus~

    Cuz well, life’s a circus :)
